Hobbyboss model aircraft are cheap and cheerful. Construction is rather simple compared with Airfix and Revel kits that you remember from 40-50 years ago. With Hobbyboss you can put the kit together in a few minutes. A child might then play with it as a toy while a veteran might concentrate on the painting. The model refers to a late version of the aircraft (Kittyhawk IV in British and Commonwealth service but P-40M in the US Army). There are two sets of decals (very neat and easy to put on) with this kit so you can paint it as from 112 squadron of the Royal Air Force (with shark's mouth) or US Army. The full colour painting guide gives no information as to where the chosen aircraft served but you can probably find out from Wikepedia. My only small criticism of the Hobbyboss "easybuild" system is that the makers assume you want to model the aircraft with wheels down: a wheels up configuation needs a bit of cutting and filing. I also need to fill a few cracks on this particular model. The paint guide refers to a range of colours that I do not use but it is easy to find the Humbrol equivalents. No pilot is provided but I have a box of spare parts well populated by pilots.

This is another simple kit aimed at beginners to the hobby with not many parts, it went together quickly and well, altough a little sanding and filler was required. It builds into a pretty nice model, and for the price I don't think anyone can grumble.I would recommend this for beginners and also the more experienced modeler who wants a quick build.

Bought this kit for my RAF collection in North Africa. Very simple build which I like and a lot of fun for an afternoon project. The only problem was that there was no option for raised landing gears and would need some serious cutting, but I used spare parts from my old Airfix Tomahawk. But apart from that a really good kit.
