Took delivery just today on a wet and blustery morning.Apart from the clever design this is a very well made article. It's also noticeably heavier than the normal cheap compact brolly you see displayed beside gents belts and ties in a high-street department store. The one single problem is the abominably short handle. As a previous reviewer has already mentioned it really is quite cheaply made. I could live with that if it was only 3 inches longer. As I've already ready mentioned this umbrella is heavier than the ordinary run of telescopic brolly. A longer handle would make it much more comfortable to use.Still it's a fine product and worth the money, but could definitely be improved.Edited July 2013Still own and use this item but part of that is due to stubborness on my part.1. Extended the handle - just by two inches it's a lot more comfortable to use - but really the makers should have tried using this brolly.2. Glued all the plastic tips to the metal spar ends. After a year or so several would pop out every time the brolly was opened.Replaced the light thread loops inside the canopy with heavy dacron fishing line. They started to fray at about the same time the tips started popping off the spars.More recently -Replaced several of the hollow rivets with solid brass pins.New velcro pieces on the roll-up straps. My initial impression was that this was a well made article but over time the details let it down. Still not bad after 4 years of Northen Irish weather.EditedIn 2017 it's still hanging together. Which seems like something of a record. It's been sewn pinned glued, and it doesn't owe me any money. I'm not sure how a canopy is measured but as I was asked recently I make it just shy of 36 inches in diameter about 92cms.

I purchased this in black after reading the only review that was listed 2 weeks ago. It's the first umbrella I have bought since I was at school, over 20 years ago but decided I needed to invest in one for the dash from the car to the office and for standing at the school gate. I have used it 3 times this week in strong Scottish wind and rain, including Leuchars Airshow where we were pretty exposed to the elements, and so far so good!! It is quite heavy and not as compact as other telescopic umbrellas I have seen in the shops but my handbags tend to be on the large size to accommodate the kitchen sink etc so it is fine, and could alternatively be carried over your shoulder in the bag it comes in I suppose. The umbrella stalk does seem to wobble a bit when you are holding it but I've put this down to the design i.e. a bit of movement for being able to withstand storms etc? One thing that I would point out is that you have to be careful with the button on the handle that triggers the umbrella to extend and pop up as you can accidentally hit it and up it pops in the car, or even in your handbag if it has the chance!! Hopefully, it will last the pace and not be destroyed by the Scottish weather over the winter.

This is the second Gustbuster Umbrella I buy from Amazon. I bough the Pro Series 2 for myself, and this for a friend of mine. This is a smaller umbrella, and can be folded to be put in your bag or case. The build quality is superb, looks and feels very sturdy, and can take anything. As with the pro series, you can tell that a lot of effort has been put into the design and making of this umbrella, and it definitely stands out from the crowd, it is like nothing I have seen before. It looks very elegant and pretty as well, and certainly an eye catcher. Have tried it, and for the first time, I find an umbrella that actually does the job. Two people can easily fit under this, and still manage to escape from the rain. For the price, this is a real bargain, you will get what you paid for and more, and this will last for ever if taken good care of. Highly recommended, great quality, great shape, excellent for the rainy British weather, superb wind resistance, a real must buy.

The only reason I have awarded the umbrella 4 rather than 5 stars is because I have had it only a week and used it once so it is too soon to give it the maximum rating. The day I used it was typical of the weather here at its worst; copious rain and strong gusty wind. It was rock solid throughout my walk of half a mile in both directions, gave no hint of the slightest tendency to buckle and gave excellent coverage.A couple of years ago I foolishly bought a considerably cheaper version of a vented umbrella which did not stand up at all well to conditions here. At first it seemed to stand up to wind quite well but soon the joints of the spokes started to come adrift and poke holes in the fabric. This one however is much more sturdily constructed and I should be very surprised if it develops similar faults. Early days yet but I rather fancy it is going to fully justify the price.

Few GOOD points..1. It handles itself with ease in windy weather.2. The stretcher metal tubes are strong build.3. It looks very good and sophisticated when its opened.Few BAD points..1. The black handle build quality is weak and looks cheap as well. I have to be careful because I think it might break.2. The "ferrule" broke off after 3 or 4 uses. I was holding it under my arm and kneeling on the floor and it fell a very short distance and broke (so obviously very cheap material). But good thing is that it doesnt effect anything and the umbrella still functions great. And UGLY...1. When closed the cloth does not close neatly and it looks very untidy. I hate it to carry around like that.OVERALL...I like it because it gets the job done.I am very careful with my umbrellas and if this one does not break in the future then I am happy with it. 4 stars from me.

Since moving to live on the coast, I have managed to destroy two folding umbrellas in the "sea breezes". So I was looking for an umbrella that would manage to withstand the winds and not turn inside out all the time. I have been very impressed by the Gustbuster, I have had it a couple of months now and it has stayed in one piece despite the gusty weather, never blowing inside out. I do agree with the other reviewers that it is bigger and heavier than other folding umbrellas but it fits in my rucksack and I can put up with the extra weight for the performance.

5 stars and "almost perfect"? Well, it is a touch heavier and longer than other(lesser) fold up brollies, it did not fit in the same compartment my old umbrellas did - In saying that, they are all broken. Deserves 5 stars for solid build and construction, looks smart, tested in strong gusty winds in London and Hastings. I love the solid snap it gives when you push the release button, the brolly snaps open with no effort and locks into place ready to do it's job. Easy to fold up, looks good, shouldn't have to buy another umbrella(warranty considered).

I thought this was a great item and it actually does work, however I only used it twice and one of the spokes broke (not used in windy conditions either). I would have given great feedback, had the item not broken. Also, I would be careful about buying from Amazon as I was a few days out of their 30 day returns policy and was told I could not return it to them, even though it was damaged! I wasn't aware that this was the case with damaged items and they didn't even waiver this a few days over that 30 day policy. I would perhaps try another supplier.

This umbrella is great - I no longer find myself wrestling with it against the sometimes violent winds across London's bridges. The only downside (if I could call it that) is that since the wind travels through the top of the umbrella too, my head is slightly colder as a result!I once slightly snagged the case as I was wearing it and the strap came off at the bottom - nothing that can't be sewn back up though and it was my fault for rushing around anyway! I bought one for my love - not a romantic, but certainly a very practical present!

When i first got this item i didnt think it would work, thinking that its probably going to be like any other umbrella and turn inside out with the slightest gust of wind!! Well it proved me wrong, it works brilliantly, because of the weight of the umbrella it makes it feel more sterdy, even you are in terrible weather! I would recommend this item to anyone, well worth the money, saves you having to buy a new umbrella everytime it turns inside out and breaks the prongs!!! A must have!!:)

This umbrella is great even in the worst weather, but the carrying cord came out of the seam of the case on only its third or fourth outing. As the umbrella is large and heavy, it is now very difficult to carry around - certainly doesn't fit into a handbag. I contacted Umbrellaworld about the issue but they weren't really interested; not even an apology. They offered a spare case of the wrong colour to be posted at my expense!

Only draw back is it does not fit in my bag + it is a bit heavy. But, to be honest I only bought it to fit under my Grandson's pram so that when we are out our long walks - I am ready for any rain + wind that decides to fall upon us, and I feel more than ready for it with my Gustbuster Brolly. So thanks, yep it is a little expensive but worth it to know I will be dry and protected from the rain and wind any day. Janet

This is by far THE best umbrella I have ever owned. It really is ok to use in windy wet weather and I am very impressed. Teensy design modification.......Gustbuster just need to make it open and close the other way so you don't get wet opening and closing it whilst you are getting in and out of a car then it will be PERFECT. (i.e so outside becomes inside when closed.)

This is a great umbrella. I can carry it around with me in my bag and it's as strong if not stronger than a larger one. The only negative is the handle which being short makes can make it hard to hold especially when you are used to a golf umbrella. Still waiting for those 55mph winds to really test this thing out.
