First off, this game bundle consists of two games that originally released for the last gen consoles and the PC. Metro 2033 for PC and Xbox 360 and Metro: Last Light for PC, as well as PS3 and Xbox 360. So this bundle is a great chance for anyone who missed out on the initial releases and has been eager to try these games out (on the current generation). Or anyone who already knows how great these are, and has the extra cash to spare. I count myself to the later.I'll go into detail about the changes in both games, but only as far as I have played them, since I have not finished them just yet. If you wish to know more in detail about the settings of the games, you'll have to look elsewhere.Metro 2033:The good:+ Largely improved Visuals. The Resolution now runs at 1080p and the frames are at an almost constant 60fps (there have been some tests about this, but if it ever did drop, then only 2 to 4 frames, and I for one haven't noticed this once). Also, the lighting engine has been completely overhauled, which is noticeable especially in the indoor levels.+ New (Imported) Gameplay-mechanics. I write imported, because a lot of mechanics are not exactly new, but have been brought over from Last Light. These include the ability to wipe your visor from any dirt or blood, a display for your stealth-level (whether you are seen or not), sound queues about the enemies' level of alertness, as well as some modified weapons (not sure if there are any completely new weapons, but I have not come across any yet). Also, you can now use your knife at the press of a button (in the standard game it was a seperate weapon you had to get out).+ Improved Character Models. Some Models have been replaced with models from Last Light, for greater detail+ Two gameplay modes. The player can now choose whether he wants to play the game in "Survival Mode" or in "Spartan Mode". The former is a more action-oriented mode, where one finds more ammo and has more hitpoints. Survival Mode is the other direction, where the player needs to manage their resources. This choice of gameplay modes is also available for Last Light.+ Stealth Gameplay is less quirky. Emphasis on less. While the stealth passages are somewhat manageable now, they're still not very easy. But I guess that's a matter of preference and playstyle. I sometimes had the feeling that the enemies were randomly alerted to my presence, but like I said, might just be I'm no good at stealthing :) One way or the other, it IS an improvement over the original Metro 2033, where it sometimes was just a matter of luck whether you were spotted or not.The bad:- Still the occasional clipping error. Every once in a while I'd have an enemy who got stuck in some wall or obstacle, but this happened very rarely. That's pretty much it for Metro 2033. Overall greatly improved.Metro: Last LightThis game did not get such an in-depth treatment like Metro 2033. But why change something thats not "broken"?The good:+ This game also runs at 1080p and 60fps. The Visuals haven't been improved very much, but this game is not very old, so there wasn't really that much to improve upon. The bad:- The AI didn't see much of an improvement. I haven't noticed a big difference really, but then again, that might change later into the game.My Verdict:I got this game at £27.89 (pre-ordered), which is incredible for what I got. I can certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the series. Oh, and both games come with seperate Trophy/Achievement lists, so that's cool too. This was my first review, so I'm thankful for any constructive critique. (English isn't my first language either :) )

Metro, and it's sequel, are set In Russia after it's been devastated by nuclear war. Above ground is now an irradiated wasteland full of mutant creatures eager to chew your face off, below ground in the train tunnels (the Metro of the title) everyone lives.Strange things are afoot on the surface - a new race of beings (the dark ones) has been witnessed, and are now very feared - as their presence when they enter the Metro seems to drive people mad, and ultimately kill them. The hero Artyom has survived such an encounter, and so is the logical choice to embark on a mission to find a way to destroy them, before they destroy you. What follows is an FPS that is second only to Halflife 2 for setting up action, story and atmosphere. It's slower paced than shooters like COD, preferring to build an experience through gameplay mechanics and pacing, with short bursts of intense action. It has a neat system where bullets are used as currency, which makes the use of stealth (conserving ammunition) essential to having cash. Get in a sticky situation and shoot your way out, and you'll have no bullets left to trade. Also you have a mask for going out onto the surface, and this requires filters- meaning you either have to scavenge for them (tricky, when a mutant is trying to kill you at the same time) or buy them (careful play does yield rewards). It doesn't have crafting items / weapons like Fallout, but it also isn't run'n'gungho - if you don't look for supplies you will die! Rarely does the game go "ooh, tough bit here - here's a handy crate of ammo, just when you need it...."So, you get a nice mix of survival horror: low on ammo, low on health, you have a torch - it requires manually cranking the electricity to charge: not good in a firefight or under attack, but helpful if you want to see....It also has scares: some are unsettling, some are jumpy moments, it always plays and paces these bits well. It's not the entire focus of the two games, but it is a well developed part that they sustain through both. Then there's the exploration, and the story side of things (cutscenes and plot points are handled quite well, not too long or taxing). Then there's the action - a nice mix of shootouts and stealth.I think the first game is the best for scares, though the second game is not far behind - both have great setpieces and are very atmospheric (out on the surface your masks visor gets fogged up or covered in mutant gunk and you have to wipe it to see). They both look gorgeous on PS4 - not truly next gen, but spiffy nonetheless with decent texturing and crisp lighting effects. It's not a massive leap from the xbox 360 version, but it's offset by the stealth mechanics being improved (they didn't work before, they do now) and DLC being included so both games are the complete package.I've played through both games twice now, and this Redux version is an improvement - particularly for the original. Both of these titles are great for anyone who likes gunplay, but also wants more connection than the shooting gallery / rollercoaster ride that COD provides.

Metro Redux is essentially an HD remaster package of two (PS3/360) games Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. These games are heavily influenced by the best selling novel Metro 2033 by russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. (I have yet to read it though plan on reading both it and it's sequel Metro 2034 after playing these great games.)The basic premise for the series is that in 2013 there was a nuclear war that essentially ended human civilisation as we know it. Russia has been turned into a land of the dead with radiation and mutant creatures having taken dominance. The sole human survivors were 40,000 people that fled into the deepest parts of Moscow's Metro carving out little settlements at each station, scavenging on the surface for anything of use to survive. You play the role of one such survivor called Artyom 20 years later in both games. The series plays as a mixture of survival horror and a flat out first person shooter. There is a great variety of weapons to choose from including standard revolvers, shotguns, and rifles to more scavenged built air powered rifles that fire balled bearings.Ammo for these guns will largely be found through exploration around the dilapidated buildings, corpses and railcars in the Metro. In the quiet moments between when in some of the metro station towns gas masks filters, ammo, guns can all be purchased as well as upgraded with different scopes and barrels. These quiet moments are some of the series best parts with lots of dialogue between settlers to listen to, describing their lives in the metro, their worries, their fears. It's a fascinating insight into this dystopian society that brings life to the otherwise dead world. The visuals to both games are fantastic with some beautiful lighting, and fantastic art and environment design. I understand they have both had a visual upgrade, especially 2033 though having never played either I can't give any details to the differences but the games look good regardless. The voice acting is also of high quality, especially the character Pavel in Last Light. There is one issue though in that a couple of the voice actors are used repeatedly as some of the background characters or soldiers which gets quite repetitive.Metro Redux is nothing if not value for money, two full games including all of Last Light's added mission pack downloadable content adding up to a good thirty hours of gameplay, more if you aim for the platinum trophies. To sum up this is a fantastic collection with interesting narrative, great atmosphere, fun weapons as well as some genuinely freaky moments. If you haven't played these games I recommend you do.+ Sorrowful dystopian atmosphere.+ Excellent visuals, art design.+ Compelling dialogue in the station towns.+ Great value for money.- Some overly used voice actors for many parts.

These are great single player shooters, but they are far more than a shooters. There has been a reasonable boost graphically to make the games fit for the PS4 & XBox One, but you can still tell that these games originated in a previous console generation - Last Light is graphically the better of the two. Gameplay is lovely and I could not wait to see where each level took me along this great adventure. There is plenty of shooting, but you also need stealth to collect all you need along the way. The game play is not open-world, but you choose where you look for items and decide if you sneak round or shoot the bad guys - who incidentally are mutated creatures, communists or nazis. The story is thoughtful and not obvious, so expect a few surprises along the way. The whole story is set in the Moscow Metro, where darkness, bad guys and worse, are looking to invade the civilised stations in the metro. You can go above ground, but a gas mask with limited filters is required.I played these games on the PS4 when they came out and loved them. I have just finished re-playing them in preparation for Exodus the sequel and I can honestly say, second time round was just as enjoyable. This is a great shooter which values good gameplay, has a great heart and plays smoothly. These games have a bit of a cult following, which makes them a thinking gamer's shooter and are probably a good antidote to the Call of Duty type shooters.During both games, all I had was two glitches, at one point I "fell" out the game, my character walking along against a green screen. Exiting and re-joining the game got me back to normal. The other glitch was the game forgetting progress when it should have done. These were the only issues across both games.

Pre-ordered from Amazon when it was £ 25.00, cancelled that and re-ordered from Game for £ 27.99 when I realised that Amazon didn't actually have the game in stock.Have played (but not completed) both games on the previous gen so more or less knew what to expect gameplay wise. Only reason I didn't complete them before is that other games / life etc got in the way, and I was going to go back to them more recently but decided to hold fire and wait for the current gen release. The graphics are much improved over the last gen offerings, just as expected really. You can clearly see the clarity is heaps better. They are both very atmospheric FPS games set in the Russian metro system (with some parts outside)following some sort of armageddon type event. You have a choice of difficulty levels, and a choice over if you want to complete the game stealthily or more as a 'run and gun' type approach. I prefer a mixture of both, but more stealth I suppose, and the game caters well in each respect. The enemy are a mixture of mutant type creatures with some soldiers thrown in. There are elements of RPGs in that you have to hunt for ammo (ammo is common or scarce depending on your chosen difficulty level), and you can upgrade all weapons. If you shop around, you can get this game for under £ 30.00, but even at some of the more dubious third party seller rates on Amazon, it's still a huge bargain being as you're getting two full length games with all DLC thrown in for good measure. Both good, solid games.

I was a huge fan of Last Light on PS3. So when the two remastered games (+all DLC) came out I had per-ordered at £25.00, which was great value for money.I loved these games, the post apocalyptic setting, the creepy/supernatural atmosphere, everything.I'll quickly list positives/negatives:Positives:- Solid game-play, with no bugs (In my experience, and I've played each game multiple times)- Very realistic at higher difficulties, makes the game challenging, and awesome.- Hidden objects are not impossible to find. in some games (Tomb raider) I spend ages lookingfor crappy useless items. In Metro, if you look for it, you find it. and when you get it, it'sa key that opens a cache or something advantageous.- Actually runs 60 fps at 1080p,2033 looks a lot better, and metro Last Light is nowless monochromatic, and has more detail/depth.- Great storyline (especially in Last Light) with two different endings.Negatives:- No way to adjust sensitivity on Metro 2033 (very minor, I got used to it quickly)- On ranger hardcore, no HUD at all, which was really cool, but meant that no prompts areshown for ANYTHING. you may want to familiarize yourself with the controlson an easier difficulty.- Back to the no HUD thing, quick-time event prompts don't show up either. This meant that in aquick-time sequence, you have to guess which button to press and when. (usually it was justsquare, so no biggie.)

This is a personnel opinion and my experience, everyone is different thank you for readingMetro 2033 and Metro Last Light are games for players that want a story, this is not a Call of Duty all out action game you be stopping and listening to non player playable characters talk about this world. The people of Russia have been forced to live underground and are no longer the top of the food chain due to the world surface being struck with nuclear missiles and the fallout creating monsters and other things. In the Metro fractions exist such as the Nazi and Red army creating war as their fight over space, food and supplies. The game is a mixture of stealth and some set action pieces. You can shot you way through the whole game but you be running out of ammo. I won’t spoil it but actions have consequences and you can affect the ending.I played Metro 2033 on XBOX 360 and Last Light on the PS3 and the graphical improvements are noticeable new textures new characters models. There are some audio problems sometimes not sync but doesn’t affect the game at all. After playing the game I have begun reading the book to get move of insight into the story behind the Metro. In Summary it’s a story driven, linear game and it has a good story if you stop and listen and take in the atmosphere.

Metro Redux is two games rolled into one packed onto one cartridge, so doesn’t require any internet connection and can be played straight from the box.Based on a post nuclear Russia where survivors live in groups underground, fighting one another as well as the mutants which roam on the wasteland above.Visually the game pushes the Switch to its limits and really does look great on the small screen although be prepared for it to be dark and not always easy to see what’s happening, especially if you’re playing in a lighted room or outside in the day.The controls are spot on and you can either play on Spartan mode which gives you more ammunition or survival mode which makes the gameplay more horrifying and stealth driven, but either mode the game isn’t Call of Duty and ammo runs out quick! The storyline is engrossing and oozes atmosphere, it’s often worth hanging around just to hear background character’s conversations which really add to the backstory. As mentioned earlier, the only issue I’ve found with the game, is that it’s so dark which doesn’t always translate Well to the small screen, it’s only a minor issue but it does make Metro a less mobile game as it’s so difficult to play in brightly lite areas

This is one of the best game purchases I ever made. Two spectacularly tense post apocalyptic horror games for £15 is an absolute bargain. While not very long (each game is roughly 12 hours-ish in length), the quality of these games is astonishing. I'd never played either of them before, so I took a chance on the Redux version to pass some time on the PS4, and I'm so glad I did. These games make my beloved Fallout games look like a day at the beach! There's a sense of horror, loss and devastation in these that Fallout never managed to make me feel and it's wonderfully disturbing. The gameplay itself is great and very realistic (too much so at times),and the need to keep an eye on your gas mask filters and use ammunition sparingly makes the experience very authentic and frightening. If you want an intense, gripping few days of gaming, then you won't do better than these. They deserve far more publicity, and I'm looking forward to the new game out next February. A new dedicated fan here for sure! Enjoy :)Oh and for those newbies amongst us, play Metro 2033 first, followed by Last Light.

I've bought this game back in 2014 and never really got to play it due to the backlog I've had and other games which came out, so it stayed in original wrapper until a couple of months ago.For the price, getting 2 remastered games in full 1080p and 60fps is great.I've never managed to play the Metro games when they came out on PC so this was a great opportunity. The graphics are great, story is interesting but attention needs to be paid to what is happening, as some things are left to your imagination. On the higher difficulty levels, Metro 2033 does get hard, especially running out of filters in certain parts of the game.I've only ever run into a bug once, where an event didn't trigger and I had to resort to the last checkpoint (game tends to save quite often so wasn't that bad).Artyom( the main character) for some reason never has any spoken dialog in Metro 2033 (only loading screen voice-over).This game definitely isn't for everybody, compared to shooting games nowadays, it does feel dated (for some) because there is no online multiplayer or local multiplayer.

It arrived earlier than I expected and cartridge was working. So I didn't have any problems with shipping or condition of the cartridge. That's what my 5 star rating is for. About the game itself, port is just awful Some areas are too dark and some areas are bright enough to make you go blind. Controls feel clunky and are incredibly uncomfortable. As if the mutants weren't enough, I also had to fight the controls. It is way worse compared to PS4 or Xbox one controls. Graphics are great for a game in Switch but there are some random tearings which breaks the atmosphere by making your eyes bleed. There weren't any extra downloads though, that's a big plus for me. Sound quality is pretty good though, but duration of loading screens seem to be random. First loading screen in the game lasted for about a minute, then next one lasted for 15 seconds. Then next one lasted for 30 seconds. This seems to be a problem on other platforms as well. Overall, I would give the port a 4/10 since it is barely playable but still fun. Game itself deserves a solid 9/10 though.

I bought this simply because I had nothing to do and it was cheap, I won't lie. I had a look at some gameplay prior to purchase and it seemed interesting - that's something that is quite difficult to achieve in such a competitive market like gaming. I'm very picky when it comes to buying games, so I took a chance on this one, leaving the only expectations to the ones I'd gained from the gameplay I'd seen. The first thing you'll notice is how quickly whole levels load. I haven't been able to get my head around it because it's not like the levels are short, not by any means. There are bigger games that, in comparison to this, take ages to load. This is near-instant. I love it.The game itself is pretty fun and quite immersive, although you will quickly find yourself hating it for throwing you into some situations. But that's not a bad thing, it just shows you the level of depth it has - for me, anyway. I've only played the first game, so far (there are two games in one) and I look forward to - once I get round to it - playing the second.

I never got the chance to play this game on the PS3 as the reviewes weren't great and the game sounded mediocre; however, I decided to give it a go when its price dropped on the PS4 that combined with the fact that there weren't many games on the PS4 at that time. I think I was wrong..!! The game was really great and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Interesting story, gloomy post-apocalyptic environment and great gameplay. Don't get me wrong, as a shooter, its an average 1st person game (don't expect a DICE or Source engine quality), characters are blah!! I didn't give a fudge about any of them or their death (if applicable).Weapons and upgrades are fun (again basic),** spoiler** there are some good bits when you see monsters fighting each other or even Nazis vs Communists vs Aliens vs Dark ones..etc... too many enemies which makes it more fun.I would definetly suggest playing this game if you finished all the great titles e.g. Farcyr 4, TLoU, Alien:siolation, Evil Within..etc

Wow! I never played these titles when originally released and in a strange way I'm kinda glad as it's a whole new adventure and imagine this is the way the game was always meant to look and feel.Only completed Metro 2033 so far but can safely say the game-play, art direction and story are all amazing and finding Artyom's hidden diaries have only made me eager to read the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky in which the game is based. This game reminds me of Fallout 3, both in its post-apocalyptic environments and story but minus the open worldness. Also plays like Wolfenstein: The New Order (but dare I say Metro's better?) with the controls similarly mapped... Also recommended if you like 'survival horror'as later levels play like Resident Evil. Almost up there with Halo, Doom and Half-life 2 in the FPS hall of fame... And why plug all these other game titles do you ask? Well, I reckon if you even like a handful of them then you will definitely like this.

At pre order i got this game/games for 25.00 unlike some stupid people complaining its gone up in price now its had its official release date which always happens this game is still only 35.00 ( at the current time of writing) which ia still 15.00 cheaper than any other ps4 title at release so to complain about the sudden price jump is like a homeless man being given a house but complaining it could be better. Pay no attention to these cheapsters. Metro redux is a masterpiece in the respect its 2 games in one remastered albeit not to the extent it could have been but what you get is the survival horror/fps with a good story if you take the time to get into it yes graphics whores will moan its not ps4 quality or xbox one however these games were not designed for next gen and tbh i love both games equally. I would suggest for this price any fps/ rpg fan get this game as it will surely in time become a great classic to have in your collection.
