This game is VERY addictive-BE WARNED!!!!About as simple an idea as it gets-shoot as much as you can and stay alive as long as you can. This is the kind of game that the DSi was made for. If you're the sort of person who just likes to switch on and start blasting then this is the game for you. But, by the same token, there is depth to the game as well. You start off with a basic gunship that has several different weapons to choose from. As you progress through the game and tackle harder levels, the weapons gain power and speed helping you achieve the kind of scores you need to unlock other systems in the Geometry Wars Universe. One of the tricks of the game is working out which weapons work better in certain situations. The screen at times can be absolutely jam packed with vicious geometric shapes all trying to smash you into smithereens and you will find yourself getting quite excited! And then frustrated when the sneaky little shape you didn't see sneaks up and batters you!!!!Some of the high scores are easier to achieve than others and this is the genius of the game. On the levels where it's hard to earn the rewards, you'll find yourself going back over and over. You'll put it down and switch it off vowing to never play it again and 5 minutes later you're back on!!! It is nightmarishly addictive. But that's a good thing. The look of the game is bright, colourful and well designed. It has a very slick feel for what looks quite a simple game. And at the price it is at the moment it is a must buy.Highly Recommended.

This game is absolutely brilliant - perfect for the DS.It is a very old-school shoot-em-up of the highest order, similar to Smash TV and Robotron. The action is fact-paced and frenetic. The gameplay is simple - survive for as long as you can by defeating wave after wave of geometrical shapes. If that sounds boring then think again. Simple vector shapes have been used to allow the DS to get as many enemies on screen at once. This means that you get some epic shoot outs as the screen fills up in a psychedelic explosion of colour and action. There are loads of levels and extras to unlock which add to the longevity, but this is basically just pure action at its simple best.It would have been nice to have levels where the aim is to clear each stage, but as it is the fighting is relentless, with wave after wave of enemies attacking you. At first it seems hard to acieve the top scores (to win the elusive gold medals) but you soon realise that the points system means that the longer you survive and more tokens you collect, the quicker your score goes up. This means that once you learn how to play, you soon start to rack up massive scores. The good thing about this game is that you can just pick it up and have a quick blast for a few minutes. You can try to beat your own score or compete with people across the world using the wi-fi leaderboard. An absolute classic - one of my favourite DS games and a real steal at under a tenner!

A retro two-dimensional format may not seemingly appeal to all "shoot-em-up" game users, but there is something addictive about this game. The premise is extremely simple-a vector-mathematics (Geometry) shoot-em-up (Wars - geometrically-shaped aliens keep coming), and in theory one can complete this game reasonably quickly, but certain levels are worthy of revisiting, and these will change from person to person. A given level could continue forever, but inevitably one dies, but with so many near misses and playing strategically, any one level can last for 5-10 minutes with a suitable excited/fraught sensation to be experienced along the way.The differing enemies each have their own unique approach trajectory allowing one to plan ahead to some extent. The functionality that is particulary noteworth is the ability to configure the buttons and touch screen to individual needs. In reality, so many games result in the player permanently holding down the shoot button or equivalent. This game does not penalise for that.As addictive as the format is simple. Great!!!

For me, this game is the ultimate retro old school shoot em up made in heaven, it is intensely satisfying to play and is insanely addictive. Like Asteroids, Tempest and Robotron, but ten times better than both put together, there is also a massive amount of different levels and high scores to achieve, along with a retro revival mode. If you liked playing Tempest/Robotron/Asteroids/Defender/Space Invaders at the arcades, then buy this game now. Top game.

If ever there was a perfect pick up and play title, this is it.If I only have a few minutes to play with my DS, this game is my choice at the moment. This game is also available for the Wii, and content can be downloaded.I have not done this yet, and I would be interested to know what content is available. The music, the visuals, the upgrades, and the difficulty curve all make it a pleasure to play.Boy, do I love old school blasters.

If you like 'old school' shooters then you'll like this. It reminds me of Robotron and Asteroids. The standout feature for me is the use of the stylus to shoot with. You just touch the stylus on the bottom screen and the ship fires. The stylus controls direction of fire and the D pad controls the movement of the ship (this can be changed in the options menu).Simple and beautiful.

Excellent pick up & play old skool shooting game. The only problems I have with it is the soundtrack is pretty bad but stick your i-pod on & turn the sound up & your soon be sucked into this addictive little shoot em up.

Great fun in little doses. Would be great for longer but the controls on the DS give me hand cramp after a while and a break is needed. But the aiming with the stylus is well done and quite accurate.
