I thought I'd write a couple of words about using the Furminator on dogs with longer coats as most of the reviews are from folks with shorter haired dogs like Labs. I own an Old English Sheepdog and a Tibetan Terrier (a relation of the Lhasa Apso) both of which I keep in fairly long coats, a good six or seven inches each. I should say that they are definitely not show quality coats, just that I prefer them left longer and don't mind spending the time to keep them nice. I've only used it once but it seems pretty clear what the brush is doing. It's obviously stripping out some of the undercoat but not, as some reviews have suggested, cutting the coat. After a good hour on both girls I had a decent pile of the soft undercoat but the long top coat hasn't been affected. I'm really impressed with the results too. My previous grooming routine has been a slicker brush and occasional undercoat rake, resorting to a comb to pull apart the nastiest knots. The Furminator seems to be doing the job of at least the rake and comb and seems a lot more gentle on knots than anything I've used before without removing much additional hair, in fact my TT let me brush several knots off her belly and inside her back legs without even a squeak, a massive improvement!I realise that this probably isn't a tool used by the show dog crowd, but for someone who just wants their shaggy dogs to be free from tangles I can't recommend the Furminator enough!

I ordered this brush last week and it arrived half an hour ago. Having Just spent twenty minutes brushing my two dogs, I've been left with enough spare hair to make an extra one. We have a Doberman and a Bassett and they both shed like crazy - I could fill the vacuum every other day - so I decided to have a look around the internet to see what I could do about it. As well as changing their diet from dried nuggets to raw meat, I saw a lot of recommendations for this brush and thought I'd give it a try (though at under £10 for one that came without all the recycle-bin filler). I've got to say, I'm really impressed with it and the amount of dead hair it salvaged from my dogs' coats. As always, before making a purchase, I checked out the 1 and 2 star reviews to see what problems people were having and saw some eijit calling this a blade and saying it shaved the dog. This is a load of nonsense, it does no such thing and more than likely the ridges he's calling knives are really just there to narrow the gap between the teeth and allow the brush to pinch the old dead hair. This it does really well, while also allowing it to be easily cleaned out. Both my dogs are big cry babies and if this had hurt them in any way I'd have known about it straight away, instead, they just sat there happily and let me brush away. Now I just need a leaf blower to fire all this hair into the neighbours garden :)

Hi,I have a large (big as well as fat) Rottweiler who just loves attention. He sheds like I don't know what...even if you just stroke him. I bought this as the hair is just getting everywhere; we have had 4 years of this! I brushed him with the FURminator and to my surprise there was enough hair on the floor to make a wig or two. I brushed him the next day and not even a handful came out. It is recommended that you brush every day. This product is a life saver, it’s fantastic! He just loves being brushed; he is a sponge for attention. I would 100% recommend this product if you are having the same problem. Other users say not to brush too hard but I think it depends on the dog as I need to be a little heavy handed with him as he has so much fur to get through. He absolutely loves the feeling, his stump of a tail wags and he growls in excitement. If your dog has a thin coat and not much of it I understand why you may need to be gentle. It is very easy to extract hair from the brush as it is just one single row of teeth that are very close together, you can just pull it out. I understand there is another version with a button that you push to slide the hair out of the teeth but this is not needed in my opinion. The brush comes with a safety guard to shield the brush when it is not being used.Hope this helps you decide

I really do not know what I would do without the Furminator now. I have a retriever cross with a short to medium coat and a Tibetan Spaniel with a medium coat and I use it on both of them. It removes a great deal of dead coat that normal brushing and combing does not touch. This is really necessary for my two as they are both Pets as Therapy dogs, visiting a local hospital and it would be a disaster if they moulted a lot. I use it about once a week during the moulting seasons and less frequently, probably once a month, at other times. The blade has lasted well over the 2 years I have had it.PLEASE NOTE: The only reservations I have with it are that it is necessary to carefully check the dogs body all over for any injuries, including broken skin and lumps,as the Furminator will remove any scabs and could open up a wound very easily. Care is needed in its use so as not to drag at the coat, especially medium or longer hair, as this could irritate the skin. I have seen videos on line showing this method of using it but it needs to be respected and not used like a normal brush. If it is used correctly it is an excellent product.

Five years I suffered with dog fur lurking in every corner. My hoover knows its own way around my house its used so often. Then one day I stumbled across THE FURMINATOR. Never, I thought to myself, it can't work for my dog. I've tried shedding tools before and nothing works. Then I read a few reviews, so with a click of my mouse, its on its way.It turned up a few days later and I set to work. Quickly a mountain grew, ever growing upwards with every stroke. After a couple of hours my dog was still enjoying his grooming session. I could sense he knew what was happening. Our lives would change forever.Three weeks on, I am writing a review for the first time ever. I feel I need to pass on my joy to other dog owners.Your dog will stop shedding its fur all over the house. Your hoover will think its retired and life will be happier than ever before with your new found non-furry friend. All this because of a shedding tool that cost a few pounds. Five stars is not enough. It will change your life. Buy one now.

This is a great product. My dog is a large crossbreed and he sheds a massive amount of fur, it is literally everywhere in the house! The furminator is a very effective way of getting out a huge amount of loose fur with minimal effort. As a rescue he is a little nervous so was unsure about it at first but we have been using it everyday in small doses and he is really starting to enjoy it now, rolling round on the floor so we can get at the bits we missed. After brushing his coat is really shiny and smooth and looks great. I had seen this item in pet shops previously but was put off buying as they are very expensive, the price I paid from this seller though made this an absolute bargain and would definately recommend to anyone with moulty dogs! The only slight critisism is that there was a very long lead time on delivery so it did take quite a long time to get to me, however considering what I paid and what we have got out of it, it was definately worth the wait!

I think I should firstly apologise to all those who wrote glowing reviews of this product. I really wanted to believe you all, and as I bought the product, then it certainly suggested the product would be good. So, my apology is for a part of me not believing you.....sounded too good to be true? You were right though, as a de-shedding tool this is the dogs 'bits'.The order itself arrived promptly as you'd expect from Company of Animals.I'd suggest that although it costs more than some other grooming accessories, as this one works and as over time I've spent and spent on cheap things that have (naturally) limited capabilities, this is acceptable value for money as a) it works b)looks sturdy enough to last for a long time.As for the dog herself, I don't know what she'd say, but I'm reasonably certain she'd say that as she doesn't really like being groomed intensively, she likes this product as the job is done much quicker too, leaving more time for play.

A natural sceptic at the best of times I am pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of this comb. It really does work on my two mid-length furred German Shepherds that I recently adopted. Their coats had been neglected for a while so I have been trying to get them looking slightly better that the bramble hedges that first arrived. Having previously been left outside they both had really thick undercoats, that was beginning to look clumpy. A regular comb took out the tangles but nothing else. The FURminator reaches through the topcoat and helps to thin out the undercoat. Gentle regular brushing rather than one big de-fur is more comfortable and less distressing for my dogs.It also gives their natural oils chance to brush through. It left them with a gentle sheen and a lovely soft feel rather than the rough finish they had previously. I had considered buying the super model with a Button to release the fur, but back-wiping on the dog rug worked just fine.

So after watching this item for a while (Since it was priced at £41) I saw the discount price just by coincidence through browsing Amazon while having money burning through my pocket I jumped and ordered it.The delivery did take just over a week, which wasn't that much of a problem even if I was itching to groom my animals and get them all nice and groomed. The Furminator is a fantastic pet groomer, and surpasses any other product I have used by far. Word of warning though, use it outside and away from any open doors or windows because hair will get everywhere and will get blown around by the wind. While this is a really efficient groomer, I have found that using another groomer alongside it such as a groomer that has rubber 'fingers'really helps gets leftover hair the furminator missed and results in a happy and clean pooch with a shiny coat.

We have a super cute 2 year old Mini Australian Shepherd. He has long hair and sheds like crazy all year round. Had conventional brushes. Lot of effort in the past and he didn't really like being brushed. All changed with the arrival of this little gadget. 90% less brushing effort compared to a conventional brush. Just lightly stroke it over a dogs coat, especially around the rear quarters and tail and see the amount of fur coming off which would otherwise end up on your lounge floor!! Our dog actually enjoys being stroked by this brush as we do it much more gently than a conventional wire brush. Gentle on his skin, but the amount of fur it lifts has to be seen to be believed.Great for when the weather warms up as our dog really feels the effect of the heat with such a thick coat. Can't recommend this brush highly enough.

I own a 2 year old Saint Bernard and as you can imagine we are continuously hoovering up his hair! We have used numerous hair products for him and when this new Furminator came out on the market I was advised to try it but I couldnt justify the price without knowing how it works first. Our groomer uses one and everytime he comes back he looks as though he has lost a stone in weight purely from his fur. When we saw the Furminator on Amazon at such an amazing price I snapped it up and Ive never looked back.I could fill a sack full of his hair in just one go and he absolutely loves it too so for all of those people who complain that its shearing their pet and will hurt them I can assure you thatis not the case.It is purely just the undercoat that is coming out and I would recommend this product to any medium/large dog owner!!

I brought the product to use on my Rottweilers, its a great little tool to use on them.It does remove a lot of hair from one of them and not so much from my other, the one which it removes a lot of hair has a thicker coarser, so if you Rottie has a light coat don't expect miracles (hair is still removed).I do have a rubber brush which removes about the same amount of hair however you then have to spend minutes and minutes removing that hair from the brush where as with the FURminator its under a second (and thats no joke).I'm only giving it four stars not the full five stars as the ends of the comb are a little large and makes it sharpe (not piercing or anything like that)however with careful use I have not had any issues with my dogs.Bottom line buy one for your Rottie you can't go wrong.

I ordered this at 4.00 pm one day and it was with me at 9.30 am the next. I guess a little praise must go to Royal Mail. I have only used it once so far and you do only have to stroke it over the dogs coat. In the past I have used a comb which claims to do the same job and it does but my dog hates it because it pulls the coat. I have a large German Shepherd cross St. Bernard who moults all year round but worse in spring and autumn. We have "tumbleweed" which blows down the hall everytime a door is opened but not this morning. Furry friend did not mind the Furminator at all and was relaxed the whole time I groomed her.Definitely recommend this but I do think all who buy it should follow the instructions and be careful not to dig it into the coat which could damage the skin - it is not necessary.

Excellent Product. We have a German Shepherd dog who is continually moulting. Hair all over carpet and furniture. It got to a stage where we were reluctant to stroke her because of creating more hair. It did not matter how many times we brushed her with quite various high quality pet brush, she still created more hair everywhere. She was also losing tufts of hair. I asked the vets about this probem and they recommended giving her a tonic of Cod Liver Oil, which appeared to help a little bit. However the furminator has created miracles, and completely resolved the problem. We can now wear black trousers without getting smothered in hair. I use it twice a week on her, and she looks remarkably more healthy and cared for.Her coat has become shiny and in good condition. Very pleased with it.

This dog brush tool thingy is amazing. We have a golden retriever who is constantly shedding, my hall way is always a ball of yellow fur, no matter how much we brush Megan. THEN WE BOUGHT THE FURMINATOR, oh my goodness it's blooming amazing. You would never imagine the amount of fur that came out the first time we used it, could have stuffed a pillow. Now not only do I have to vacuum less (well with 4 kids not that much less) Megan is really shinny and soft. The kids even like using it too, another job saved for a busy mum. Just don't lose the gaurd!Brill brill brill.Amazon is the cheapest place I could find one too. The lady who told me about it spent nearly £25.00 on hers and when mine came they were exactly the same thing, even the packaging.Buy it buy it buy item xx
