I have gone through countless shredders over time and was looking for something more sturdy.Disappointingly some shredders have a low work cycle - for example 2 minutes of shredding then 60 minutes cooling time is of little use. This shredder appeared as an Amazon Black Friday deal and represented excellent value. It will shred continuously for up to 5 minutes before an automatic cut out operates for around 20 minutes. Compared to some other shredders it feels sturdy and, so far, has worked well. One criticism though are instructions. They clearly state there should be an on/off switch at the rear and show this on two pages. It isn't hard to spot a switch but there clearly wasn't one.
I'm on my third or forth shredder now, all have given up the ghost, probably because I bought cheap.The Fellows W-11C is a step up in price, but boy is it worth it.Despite claims that it will chew up 11 sheets at a time, it really does slow down, but half a dozen are dealt with pretty swiftly, and that is probably the quickest way to go if you have a pile of stuff to shred.Like all shredders, the W-11C will operate for a time, and then needs to cool off before having another go. The operational time is 5 minutes, but you would need to have a pretty big pile of paper to breach that time.The shredded paper is reasonably fine, and credit cards are munched very easily too.I saw some reviews that said it was noisy,
Absolutely fantastic product. I think the claims of 11 sheets is a little over the top but that isn't an issue at all. The safety feature is great. The size pieces it cuts into were a little bigger than I expected but it still makes them small enough to adequately disperse any sensitive information.The only thing is that I didn't buy it from Amazon. I found it much cheaper else where!
Strong performance so far and fairly lightweight so it can be moved about easily. The automatic setting has stopped working already but the middle setting deals with the problem, perhaps a safer option anyway. If features are there they should work and continue to work, hence the 4* rating, otherwise 5*.
This shredder makes a good job of shredding paper and credit cards. I don't believe for a second that it handles 11 sheets at a time - it slows down with more than about 4 or 5.The only issue I have with the product is that it sounds like an aeroplane taking off when in use. The noise is unbelievable.
A real workhorse when it comes to shredding paper but I am not sure that the manufacturers claim of up to eleven sheets at a time. I really would not like to test that claim, I found 6 sheets made it struggle a bit. I did purchase cutter oil at the same time which is recommened after each bin empty.
