I originally purchased this for home use but brought it into the office as a short term measure when our office shredder packed up a couple months ago. In fairness, I didn't expect it to last very long because there are 2 of us in the office - and working in financial services you can imagine the amount of confidential waste that needs shredding because barely anything can be recycled without being shredded first!! 2 months on we still haven't repaired or bought a new office shredder as this one's working out just fine. It's small and doesn't take up much space - and looks nice and neat tucked away in a corner. One waste box full of shredding fits easily into an average sized carrier bag and as long as you're careful to only put through up to about 4/5 sheets at a time it will work for several minutes at a time without getting hot. Although I would always advise removing staples, if the odd one slips through the net it manages just fine with no adverse effects afterwards. Considering the level of use and abuse this little machine has had to cope with on a daily basis for the last couple of months (since early/mid November) I really have found it to be fantastic value for money - it's still working as well now as when I bought it!!Couldn't possibly be happier with it - and would certainly be more than willing to recommend it/buy another if the need should arise.FOOTNOTE - over 3 months of daily use in a small but busy office and haven't even had a paper jam yet. Still shredding as well as when it came out of the box and has done on occasion up to around 100-150 sheets in one session without overheating (as long as you don't try and put through more than about 5 sheets at a time and make sure you empty it when it's full rather than trying to keep going which will cause the paper to insulate the heat around the motor etc etc you're good to just keep going for several minutes). Still absolutely chuffed to bits.

This shredder was as a more-secure replacement for my strip shredder. Having reviewed a number online I selected this one as a cheap item but having good reviews (very few of the reviews had bad operational things to say about it). It was quieter in operation than my old one, and easily managed up to five 80gm sheets of A4 (rated for 6 sheets of the thinner 70gm paper) with no sign of being overworked until my pile for shredding was finished 10 minutes later. I noticed that in 'Auto' mode it did have a slight overrun after the previous feed of paper had shredded before turning off (presumably to clear the cutters), so don't be too quick to assume the auto-stop has failed and reach for the 'Off'switch. I found that the plastic bag in which the shredder head was wrapped made a very useful liner for the box when shredding. This could then be used to carry the bits to the paper recycling box. All-in-all a very satisfactory purchase and to be recommended to anyone for their small-volume, household secure shredding purposes. Just tried the card shredding facility. Worked a treat, so have upgraded my rating from 4 to 5 stars.

This has to be one of the best shredders I have ever had. Bought this one because of the good customer reviews and it also is good value for money and to replace the one I had because my old one would get jammed with paper and it would cut out because it got over heated and took ages to come back on. Love this shredder so much and even though it says it takes 30 minutes to cool down, it does not because I only waited about 10-15 minutes and then I started to use it again. The shredder cuts 1 A4 sheet into about 470 pieces which I think is brilliant. The best thing I love about this shredder not only does it cut paper but it also cuts credit cards which I love because then you know that know one can get hold off your credit card details and try to stick back your credit card. You can shred up to 6 sheets of A4 paper but my old one you could only shred up to 5 sheets which I think also saves times. LOVE IT SO MUCH and definitely would recommend this shredder.

Great quality shredder, strips old bank cards down so no one can read the details from the card, also shreds documents very well, required after my last shredder which done CDs aswell packed up after a friend decided to shred a plastic bag with his address on it.So some common sense required, shredders are only designed for paper documents, and cards if supported, if you try to shred a CD in this shredder you will most likely break it likewise if you try to shred an address label thats attached to some plastic baggage like a clothes bag you get from online retailers the plastic will ruin it.It's a costly but worth it invention to protect your privacy and sensitive information as although youcan rip up documents by hand you can't always get all the information required to remove. This is a 100% unbiased review sellers never provide me with free items to review or try!

This was bought to replace a 2 year old shredder from Argos which had shredded itself!!!The head unit (shredder bit) is very heavy and seems incredibly sturdy. It has bits of shreddings in it which suggest they test them in the factory before sending them out.It is very noisy in use, but does seem to do a good job.It will shred 6 sheets at once but (as with other shredders) I've found you're better shredding 2/3 at once. This is for the simple reason that the fewer sheets you shred at once the faster it goes - it's easy to pick up 2/3 sheets to shred but takes more time to accurately pick 6 sheets. Obviously if you try and put more than 6 sheets through at once,it will be quiet slow and you run the risk of jaming and overheating.I've shredded 40/50 sheets without the thermal cut-out coming in, although it was getting quite warm.

I use this for ocassionally shredding bank statements etc. I had accumulated a lot of bank statements and therefore, maybe had to shred about 100 papers per sitting. It stops when the overheat light is on (which I think is about 3-5min of non stop shredding). Instructions say 2 min non-stop, so I shouldn't really have made it go longer. The instructions say that I could do up to 6 sheets any one time, but I've only done 2 sheets. You do get bits sticking in the mechanism, but can easily pull that out. What I like: You can see the shredded paper level, so you know when to empty it. Also, I like the cross-cutting, would be hard for anyone to piece the shredded bits together.I wouldn't recommend it for heavy office jobs, but household use and occassional shredding, does the job.

Fairly small bin, but we don't shred a huge amount of stuff, so two weeks down it is still not full. Very loud compared to our old unit, but since it is in the utility room it is not an issue for us. The window to show how full it is getting is a bonus. I have shredded paper and a credit card with no issues. Had the occasional piece of paper not go through completely, but just put it in reverse and retried and all has been okay. The head unit is easy to take off and replace once you need to empty the bin. I use a clear plastic bag inside the collection bin to make emptying it easier and less messy. I would say this unit is best used for occasional use, rather than heavy office use.A good low cost unit.

Very good quality shredder at a price tag that's not eye watering. More than suitable for basic home shredding and at a push home office shredding. Handles credit cards, card and batch leaves of paper without issue. Single pages can be an issue depending on paper weight, less than 80gsm, in this case just fold the paper a few times and your good to go. It has survived the odd occasional staple so far but I would not recommend leaving them in if you want the machine to give a few years of service. Collection bin keeps the mess to a minimum.Shredding quality is very good and if someone wants to try to piece together my old bills and odds and sods I hope they have plenty of time on their handslol

I was very pleased with my purchase. Had lots of paperwork laying around, and needed to securely dispose of it.This shredder has a large area for shredding documents, such as A4. It also has a small slot for Credit Cards and receipts. It two options: Automatic option, or manual. It has a reverse function in case the paper gets stuck. Simply load the paper and push down slightly, the shredder will then grip it and feed it down automatically. The paper is very finely sliced, so makes it almost impossible to piece together again. It can load 6 sheets at once, but be careful to remove things like staples.Running time is 2 minutes, after which it will need 30 mins to cool down again.

I love this shredder, for its price point it is very good quality and I have shredded a lot of papers with this. I would estimate that I shredded around 20-50 pages every few days and it held up well. Removed one star as this is my second one of these, the first one broke shortly after a year of use, something came loose in the main shredding part and was rattling around preventing the shredder from working, I tried to remove the lid to investigate but the screws are very deeply inset so was not able to remove these. This time round I purchased the Amazon extended insurance just in case the same thing occurs after the 1 year mark.

It arrived well within the time. The price was great. Other reviews said about you can only use it for a short while or it will overheat & stop working until it cools down, well this did happen to me once but I found if you put say 4 sheets through at a time & allow it to clear it's blade's with it's overrun ( another great feature ) it will carry on. I have used mine like this for 25 mins in one sitting with no problem. This unit is a dicing type Mc not a shredder, witch I think is better. It is not an industrial one, but it is brilliant in my home office. I WOULD advise anyone needing a new shredder to look at one of these

This is a light use shredder, shreds really nicely, completely chopped up. The only thing is it does take a bit of fiddling to get it to sense a piece of paper. Other than that it does everything you could want it to. Very clear instructions on how to get the best out of a light use shredder such as this, and describes the cool down process that might lead some people to think there was a fault in the machine. Haven't yet contacted the people regarding lubrication sheets, but the details are inside the packaging, so that you can keep things working as they should.Ideal for home use, I wouldn't try this in a busy office.

I had a massive pile of years old bank statements and documents. Shredding them in a machine that only works for 2 minutes continuously, only takes 6 pages at a time and requires 30 min to cool off, was an exercise in patience and self restrain (so tempting to just grab a thick bunch of paper and jam it into the machine...) . It took a whole day of shredding paper in short bursts while I was doing other stuff but I got there in the end, and I knew what I was buying, so no complains! It does a good job with credit cards too and it's compact enough that I might keep it instead of re-selling it as I had initially planned.

24.9.2016

i choose this because it was the cheapest shedder on amazon with a reasonable bin size, i am only using this for my office but so far its working very well, it cuts cards up efficiently and into lots of little pieces, the cross cut works very well, i have not put in over the recommended 6 sheets at a time, but then i hardly ever put in more than 2 at any one time. it is noisy but I would expect that from a shredder, I don't think this would hold up too well in a office environment (other than a personal one), great though for the home for every now and then shredding.

18.3.2016

I'm very happy with this shredder. It works grate! Has no problem at all dealing with six A4 sheets of paper at a time and the cross cutting action of the shredder really works well. The only downside to it is that after two to three minutes of continuous use it switches itself off so that it can cool down which takes about ten to fithteen minutes before its ready to use again which can be frustrating if you have a lot of paper to shred. But all in all a very reasonably priced shredder. If you found the review helpful please click the 'yes' box - thank you.
