This review is based on the first 3 weeks use.............I have been after a new shredder for a while now as my old one had decided that life was just way too hard and it was now the time to take early retirement, I read all the reviews and decided to take a gamble and spend a little more than I usually would for a shredder so I purchased the Rexel Prostyle+ 12 sheet version and so glad that I did, my old shredder was definitely designed for the offices of our local council as after 4-5 minutes actual graft it decided that work was not a full time occupation and it was time for a 15 minute rest before it wanted to continue to work again for 4-5 minutes before again taking its well-earned rest.So step forward Sargent "Rexel" Prostyle+ 12 sheet, this beauty is the special forces of the shredder world, no job is too tuff and if you keep the feed going it will obliterate everything in its path with an attitude associated with our fore fathers stiff upper lip etc., I had piles of shredding to do so I fed it in twos continually two after another for around 20 minutes, this power house kept going and would have gone for longer without overheating if I had more paper work for it to eat, the bin is large and spacious and very easy to remove, there is a smaller separate bin clipped on top and inside the main bin, this is to catch the bits of shredded DVD so that they do not mix with the shredded paper, obviously this is to help the sandal and candle tree hugging crowd who have now moved on from campaigning against nuclear missiles to extreme recycling as their chosen occupation or hobby in life.....although shredding Credit cards does mix with the paper so if life is really that boring for you there is the task of picking out 100s of little pieces of plastic from the thousands of pieces of paper.......a bit like a jigsaw in reverse really, look at it like buying a mobile phone and finding the games section, it’s not really what you bought it for but a little Brucie bonus thrown in.Although there may be cheaper shredders on the market this is a great little tool to have in the house if identity theft is a concern, the price stated £329 but it was on sale for £80 giving a saving of £249, in all honesty it is probably worth the sub £100 price tag but definitely nowhere near the £329, do yourself a favour and do not bother with the local authority designed shredders spend a little extra and buy this SAS bad boy it is definitely up for the job around the home.

Based on Channel 5's Gadget Show and Amazon customer reviews we decided to go for this one.According to courier company Yodel the order was shipped up from north London to Edinburgh and stored in their Edinburgh (Gyle) depot the following day @ 30 November 2012. Yodel couldn't deliver the order because they hadn't received Amazon's despatch confirmation. Despite phonecalls to Yodel (Edinburgh) they were adamant we had to contact Amazon to find out what was happening. Eventually found an Amazon customer service contact number only to discover this lead to the Philippines; the customer adviser reiterated what we already knew and reassured us Yodel would deliver within the week. That week passed; no delivery.Yodel's online order tracking is neither accurate nor up to date. Misleading information increased stress levels that should never had happened; to be told by work colleagues Amazon were a smooth operation countered everything we experienced.Further phonecalls to Amazon eventually resulted in the initial order cancelled, a new order placed by Amazon and despatch/delivery within 24 hours via Yodel. We condone the numerous complaints Amazon customers have raised against Yodel and Amazon should seriously review courier arrangements with Yodel. As for the product it's great :-) .

Over the past years I've has two rexel shredders, which have both been marvellous and this one is no exception! I wore the first one out through use, the second was just as good but decided to change for cross cutter, so chose Fellowes, which lasted 6 months! this time I've gone for the Rexel ProStyle + Cross Cut top notch shredder after reading reviews and watching The Gadget show video which put it at the top of all the shredders! and so far they're right.I only got it yesterday but had quite a bundle of paper to shred and it did it without any problems. It's the quietest shredder I've had, plus it's cutting heads are lower in the main part, so saving fingers getting caught. As yet I haven't shredded any discs or cards so can't comment on that bit, but can't see any problems in that area either. This Rexel ProStyle + is well built and looks very smart, infact the photo doesn't do it justice. If there is a downside it's, as has been previously mentioned, the shredded paper can overflow/drop into the back of the drum when emptying, but as it's such a small thing and can be brushed/removed by hand, it can be ignored.Yes, I can thoroughly recommend this stylish looking machine.

I bought this product in order to satisfy my need to dispose of print outs and CDs/DVDs.After receiving and unpacking the product I was impressed with the look and tried to shred a document I had printed (12 pages 80gsm HP Multi-purpose Paper) but the results were less than advertised. The document did get shredded quite well but the cross-cutting action was only partially effective. It was obvious from inspection of the shred that the cross-cut action had been attempted but it had obviously failed to cleanly cross-cut. For the vast majority of the shreds they were still mostly in strips. However, I tried a single sheet and that seemed to cross-cut properly. Given this,it is apparent that the cross-cut action is not perfect and if you need it to work as expected you may need to pass through the relevant documents in less than the maximum feed limit of 12 sheets. Results may vary depending on your unit and the sharpness of the cutting blades.I have yet to try the CD/DVD cutter the cuttings of which can be collected in a removable mini-bin attached to the inside of the main removable shredder bin.Overall, seems to be fit for purpose and worth the money.

My old shredder was just a motor on a bin. This one is a bit more advanced.I got the shredder (delivered perfectly) and immediately set about shredding almost 2 years of documents - my old shredder overheated after about 10 minutes. The Rexel said that one shouldn't shred for more than 3 minutes a time, but I kept an eye on the temperature gauge on the front of the device and shredded for about 1 hour before becoming bored! The bin fills quite rapidly, and the cross-cut shredding renders everything useless.I would recommend emptying the bin when about 1/2 full as otherwise the blades do get clogged and you have to reach in with your hand (turning the machine off first of course). But a pretty decent piece of kit for the price.I've not shredded any CDs for the moment, but given I tried to force cardboard through it (my address was on a box that I cut out) I've no reason to suspect CDs will hold any problems for the very strong motor.By the way, I filled nearly 2 bin bags over 2 days (about 2 hours of shredding) - yes I was bored, but was pleased with the results.Highly recommended product - don't buy a cheap one like I did previously.

No problems with the machine, but there does need to be improvement in the advertising/instructions.1. Advertised as not handling staple/paperclips - machine packaging says it does ( and it does)2. advertising says does not take lubricating oil - instructions says it takes lubricating sheets ( which had I known would have bought them at the same time).Apart from those niggles ( which cost it a star) the machine is great. It munched through a two year backlog of old business documents, at a steady pace, 6-7 sheets of 90gm paper on average, did not overheat once, emptied the bin regularly so no jams, its not exactly quiet, but not loud either ( quieter than my previous Fellows )did most of my shredding whilst watching tv and the noise did not unduly distract. Its early days but it seems it is a better buy than my Fellows, which was disappointing in all levels and caused the delay in getting another shredder, as I wasn't sure shredders were worth the money based on that experience. This Rexel has restored some faith.

I ended up with a years worth of confidential shredding to do at home (far too much to sneak into the confidential bin at work) and the tiny shredder I had would have taken another year to shred it all so I upgraded to this one. Really happy with it so far- have done about 3 carrier bags full and it does the job well. On my second handful obviously I got too enthusiastic and tried to put through about 30 sheets and had to spend 5 minutes clearing the jam but if you use it properly it works brilliantly for the price (£79). Haven't used the credit card or CD shredder and not sure they are absolutely necessary but then again I do have lots of old CDs I don't throw away in case they've got personal info on so I probably will use it.Other reviews have commented that it's messy but it totally normal given shredding isn't the most tidy thing to do. As long as you do it where you can hoover/sweep afterwards then it's not a problem at all. The waste bin has a decent capacity and it's a good looking shredder.

I have used the £20, £40 and £60 shredders in the past and they always appear to end up with either the mechanism getting clogged or the unit shredding its own plastic internals! This one appears quieter and stronger. Churns through 12 pages. Unlike other units it doesn't need to work for 2 mins only and then require a 20 minute cool-down, this one just keeps going, but it does have a temperature warning on it - which I've not reached yet.I thought a slide-out bin would be less messy than units where you remove the top. But in practice, once you slide out the bin all the paper from the cutters falls onto the space left and you end up with a mess anyway. It has a sleep-mode,if you leave it in auto too long and will wake from sleep with the first page inserted; it also has a more traditional on/off rocker switch on the back.I've not used the plastic CD or card yet - but I can guess like most shredders it will only hit the card in 3 places anyway.Still, a great unit for home-office printing.

I had previously bought the Rexel Prostyle Cross Cut 11-Sheet Paper and returned for a refund as it would only shred for 2-3 minutes before cutting out and needing 30 minutes to 'cool down'. Bought this as a replacement and the difference couldn't be greater, this shredder has the following:-Separate on/off switch on the back of the shredder, which is a useful additional feature.-Looks very stylish, appears well made and also shreds CD's via a separate slot.-Has a temperature warning light, although I shredded a few hundred pages and it didn't turn on.-Quick Shredding. Shredded at least 6 full bins of paper on first use in about 30 minutes,no over heating or waiting for unit to cool down required.-Some reviewers have commented that the bin 'over flows' and the paper jams. However, If you check the transparent window and empty the bin regularly this shouldn't be an issue. Worth the additional cost compared to cheaper shredders.

So far so good. As I have proverbial mountains of paper to shred I wanted something robust. After a few weeks this has chewed its way through enough paper to fill 6 larger bin sacks; used by my son-in-law to make logs with for the fire.It seems to be reliable and can easily shred a few sheets as claimed with ease.* Pros:^ Eats paper, thin card, with consumate ease.^ Sometimes shreds afaster than I can feed!^ Is much quieter than most shredders.^ Auto cut-out when hot rarely kicks in, especially if you do not over-feed; e.g. too thick a bundles.* Cons:- The bin, although one of the biggest you can get, gets full very quickly.(Push the shredded paper down every 10 sheets or so.Also do not breathe in the paper dust!)Highly recommended machine. Was very hard to find on Amazon as other, lessdesirable, shredders kept coming up more.Could only be improved by including some cutter oil or lubricating sheets.

Having had a very long time to test this shredder now - I can recommend it wholeheartedlyI shred a LOT - and this machine never misses a beat - I am careful to not overload it with shredding duties but I have shredded entire lever arch files full of paper in one sitting without it missing a beat or even tripping it's heat overload like so many other shredders do in a heartbeat. It got warm near the motor but that was it. Most of the time this will handle anything you throw at it without breaking a sweat!I've owned a few shredders over the years - from cheap ones to far more expensive ones and this is probably the best performer yet!Would like to see it do a better job on CD's DVD's than it does presently, just chopping them into 4 chunks; but that aside no other complaints!Just get one - takes up very little space - looks fairly cool aesthetically and reliable!

This is a great product that does everything you could want a shredder to do.I have had previous shredders and they all struggled with multiple sheets and you could hear the motor slow down and feel it heat up, but this one has no problems. I have put all sorts through this one and it didn't blink once (but then it has no eyes). It obviously has its limits, but with general use, I haven't found them. The draw on the front make for easy access when removing the waste, however, we have had some bits go over the back when it is full up, so removing them stops fowl ups in the future, but this is a minor detail.Used the card shredder once and it worked fine.Inside the waste bin has a separate holder for the card waste and can be removed if you don't need it. Had this for a while now and although I thought it a lot of money at the time, it is well worth it.

A GREAT SHREDDER, I use to have the cheapest version of this, which I have reviewed, eventually after years of use it packed in, so I have just replaced it with this more powerful version.I am so pleased with its performance, it shreds quickly and can take many sheets at the same time without struggling. If you have never had a shredder I would advise you to get a confetti or cross cut type as they shred your documents into tiny bits of paper, so much more secure than strip shredders. It can shred loads of sheets without being emptied as it has a large bin and you can see how full it is through a transparent window. It also has a special slot to shred cards and Cd's,thoroughly recommended.PS: I have not found it very messy to empty the bin, what you do is pull the bin out a bit, then squash the contents down so none will spill out, easy.

This is my second of this model, which I’ve now had for a year. The first failed very quickly, and I tried to replace it with another popular make. It was worse, so I rather reluctantly decided to give this one model another go. I have since shredded 30 years’ worth of paper (half a room-full), and the shredder is no worse for the wear. My advice? Don’t overheat it, don’t overfill the paper bin, and don’t stuff too many papers into the shredder. If it labours, try fewer sheets next time. It doesn’t seem to heat up quite as quickly if it doesn’t labour, and I’ve managed to run it much longer than the indicated times by taking extra care to empty the paper bin more often and feeding fewer pages at a time.Makes for a much more pleasant shredding marathon. It is fairly quiet compared to the competition, and looks better too.

This is very sleek, good looking, robust and solidly constructed and does the job.Powers its way through 12 sheets as advertised and seems to be happy to keep on going without overheating (it has a warning light that has not activated yet) will chew CDs and bank cards also. I have put a few stapled sheets though also without a problem although the user guide recommends that these be removed. Has a conventional on off rocker switch and also an auto setting that activates when sheet is inserted. The waste bin slides out sideways and has a window to allow you to see when it is full. As others have observed if one allows it to overfill emptying can be messy.Learning point - do not overfill!More expensive than the competition maybe but seems at this stage to be worth the extra.
