This is a really smart looking office shredder in a black and silver plastic casing from a top office equipment company – Fellowes. Unlike much cheaper shredders this one looks and feels robust, and is definitely up to the job. I have tested this shredder with the mountain of old paperwork I have at home, and it will happily shred between 7-10 A4 standard sheets of paper, although it is supposed to handle up to 12. However, I found it tended to struggle a little with that number of sheets being fed in consistently. Still, 7-10 sheets in one go is good, and there is a decent 15 litre pull out bin to catch the waste, although with it’s ability to shred so fast, this will need to be emptied frequently. It is recommended the shredder is only used for 5 minutes at a time, which is fine for most home and small office environments, but probably wouldn’t suit a larger office. I have also tested the claims that this shredder is capable of handling credit cards, staples and paper clips, and found it has no problems, provided the clips/staples are not attached to several sheets of paper at one time. If your documents contain staples and clips, I have found the shredder works a lot better with one or two sheets being fed in for shredding at a time. I had no problems with a couple of old credit cards though, and these just went straight through the cutting blades, with no sounds of the motor struggling to cope. The PowerShred 21Cs comes with a 2 year machine warranty, and a 5 year warranty on the cutting blades themselves. That’s reassuring because it’s normally the blades that start to lose their effectiveness after a while. The full retail price of £212.50 for this machine is pretty horrendous, and I would certainly advise searching out the best price. The current Amazon price of just over £98.00 represents good value for money. There are cheaper shredders about, but they are usually only capable of handling 2 or 3 sheets at a time. The cutting blades are usually inferior to, and you spend a lot of time trying to extract half shredded paper that has become jammed in the cutting mechanism. No such problems here, and that’s why there is a higher price tag. Definitely worth paying in my opinion, because it saves you a lot of hassle, as well as shredding time. I’m very impressed with this machine, and it looks good in my home office.

I have had a couple of shredders and they have not been very good. This one has a few more desirable design features which I like. You will probably be aware that some of the cheaper ones, in order to empty them, you have to life the cutting motor off the top of the paper collecter. this one has a very sensible feature which is that the paper compartment slides out from the body and this simple "innovation" is very worthwhile because it makes paper disposal that much easier. Another very nice feature is that if you bring flesh close to the paper entry port, the cutting action stops, making it less likely you will lose fingers. On first switching on, the motor will run for one or two seconds, then stop; placing paper in the entry point will cause it to start up again. I tested this with 12 sheets multiple times and it did not jam- true it is new, but cheaper ones always seemed to jam if you challenged them in this way. If you do give it 12 to shred, the shredding action slows, though not in proportion to the sheets, so it is still quicker to shred multiple sheets than one by one. It also chomps up plastic and I tested it with a couple of sheets of transparency with no problems. One caution I would give is that if you decide to transport it from one end of your office/home to the other, do be careful how you pick it up. It is quite top heavy, not enough to fall over in operation, but lifting it you immediately have to correct for all the weight being at the top. In that respect, its no different from any other shredder I know. It will jam of course and there is a reverse for those occasions. So not heavy duty, but a pretty essential thing to have about the home in these days of identity theft.

As far as this reviewer is concerned, Fellowes is the go-to brand for paper shredders. So why would you spend the extra cash on buying one of these? To me it's down to the efficient and effective way they use a macerating roller system. These rollers take the paper and cut it into thousands of tiny square pieces which are virtually impossible to re-assemble. The rollers themselves look like those car shredders that metal reclamation plants used. That might sound alarming but Fellowes have included a lock slider to disable the shredder. Documents are then fed through a slot in the top which is narrow enough to be finger-proof for those little ones. The rollers themselves are inside the lid,and do not operate when the lid is removed from the collection bin. There's also the standard reverse switch for those cooasions when you might have fed a little too much into it. The strong macerators can also chip up expired credit cards and also shred stuff like staples and paperclips if these remain attached to documents. Once a document is shredded the device over-runs for a few seconds to ensure the chopping is complete. Fellowes indicates that a constant feed cycle of five minutes or so won't tax the machine, so big shredding jobs should not cause overheating. It's a well designed version of their larger shredders that are used in offices and can easily handle up to standard A4 size paper. I'm now on my third from this brand, and my old one is off elsewhere as it's still going strong.Worth that bit extra for a well designed, robust and effective shredder.

We owned a different shredder before (Tsi**** brand) bought in a local store at a "Value" price. For few old and unimportant documents, we thought that it'll be just fine and that'll do the work. But due to quality and durability, it didn't last. The Fellowes Powershred 11C does what is says -it can shred 9 sheets of papers (at 80gsm) or moreIt is quite heavy compared to other cheaper brand but this machine offers to do a serious job when it comes to shredding. The Fellowes Powershred 11C is very useful both for home and office use.its robust. durable and and will give you a piece of mind against identify theft.Selling at 58.99 from Amazon offers the best deal in town.feature includes:1.the cross- cut shredding which is hard to put all piece back unlike others that shreds only in a straigth cut.2. runs forward and in reverse in case of accidental placement of important docs3. can cut some hard card like expired bank card, staple wire, I even try disc and goes without jamming the cutter,4. it has an 18 litre capacity bin / collector which is huge enough to stop you emptying it every after a couple of shredded papers.few special feature that we like in this item:1. it has a lock to prevent it being switched,2. the paper feeder is narrow enough to be finger-proof for some kids who like to enjoy shredding papers with adults(BUT consider the best practice : safety than precaution)3.the machine will not operate when the lid is out of collector bin,4.Never gets over heat so far (after using it for half days shredding documents and other bits)

This Fellowes PowerShred 21C is designed for the heavy personal user, and offers a decent level of protection. It is a decent looking tool with a reassuring amount of heft to it. It will take up to 12 sheets of paper, but in my experience, half a dozen is a more comfortable load. It will happily eat paperclips, staples and credit cards, and has a run time of 5 minutes before needing a 30 minute cool down.It shreds into strips, Din level 3, which is the equivalent of 4 x 50mm strips and has a 15L bin, Our office shredder is level 4 and that cuts into 2000 strips. The 21C comes with a 2 year machine warranty with a 5 year cutter cover, which is pretty good for machines of this class. It also have a Safe Sense safety feature which automatically disables the shredder if your hand comes into contact with the paper opening. Very good for home use when inquisitive small fingers may stray too close. All in all, a good quality, robust and good looking shredder with excellent safety features for the heavier use home or small office. If you want additional security and are willing to pay a few pounds more, I would look at other Fellowes machines that cuts a little finer ... Our office machine, a 61MC cuts at 3 x 10mm micro-cut particles (security level P-4) and the slightly larger 19L bin takes an age to fill.

Great shredder. My previous Fellowes shredder (about half the price) finally gave up the ghost after a fairly protracted session (which I usually have about once a month as documents from a previous month's business have to be destroyed.) This one now gets through anything I want to (and can also handle STAPLES no problem) (I had to remove these for the old shredder - time-consuming and irritating) and works smoothly and efficiently. I am glad I made the extra investment and would very much recommend this for anyone like me; home-based micro-business needing a tough, reliable device. (Only niggle is that it is quite difficult to hold the bin with shredded paper and empty the contents into a waste bag without ending up with a floor covered with tiny bits of shredded paper!Unlike the cheaper version, there is no real handle/easy way of holding the bin and emptying it. Best way seems to be to place a bin liner etc over the bin and then turn the latter fully upside down. The contents of a bin only fill about a fifth or so of a usually sized bin liner, so you are still left with the problem when the next time for emptying arrives.)

There are cheaper shredders out there, but they are cheaper shredders. This one now sits in the place of one of those cheaper models. The quoted specification is 11 pages. On some makes this appears to be a goal. The paper shudders as it goes through the feeder and has to be reversed out. On the PowerShred it goes in with no trouble. It is a very sturdy machine designed for probably more than the occasional home clear out. This is used on a daily basis to get rid of office stuff and the personalised heap of junk mail that comes in. If you want anything to not appear in your recycled paper bin then this is ideal. It also keep working for a few minutes without overheating.Unlike some other models it has a lock to prevent it being switched to shred.A useful safety feature if only for piece of mind.Because the machine cross cuts it means that the paper cannot be recycled but it can be added to things like compost or wormeries. Our local Scouts love this stuff for tombolas and kindling. Nothing goes to waste.

Good product. I've found just two issues:1. Though it does work for the time frame advertised before going into a cool down period, this is nuisance. If you have lots to shred in a short period of time, you might want to consider upgrading.2. The storage bin for the shredded paper is large, but when it becomes full, it can be awkward to open, as the shredded paper jams against the top of the unit and makes sliding out the storage bin harder to do. It will come out with a bit of wiggling, but this can make a bit of a mess, which kind of defeats the point of the bin in the first place. The solution is to empty regularly, but odds are, you won't.Otherwise, it's a good value shredder. It works quickly, can handle a good number of sheets in one go and can hide away is a fairly small space.

The Fellowes Powershred 11C is not too noisy, in fact it makes a very pleasant purring sound. It is powerful enough to eat up 8 sheets of paper, but put in 11 sheets and they go through very slowly with the poor shredder making a noises like it has a sore mouth, so I will stick to up to 8 at a time to preserve it's life. I was able to shred for over an hour without the shredder shutting down! I am not fast enough at stuffing in paper overheat it, so it performs really well there.I wish it had a pull out tray instead of having to lift off the top, however it has a lock button which is a very good thing.Overall this is a fantastic shredder, it is not noisy, shreds very well into little pieces, and so far reliable.

I always wanted a shredder and now I've got oneThis is quite big even if it does say personnelIt's easy to use and works wellIt has a power on/off switch on the sideAnd on top has a sliding button for on/off and reverseIt shreds upto 12 sheets of paper and plastic cards eg.debit credit cardsI've only done about 5/6 sheets at a time and it works fine ,shredding in a criss cross sectionsThere is a big pull out tray drawer that collects all the shredded paper which is simple and easy to emptyI did find that during usage I needed to open drawer and pull down the shredded paper to level out the drawerBut apart from that works great and I like it

I've used a couple of paper shredders for the home before and they tend to feel a little lightweight/fragile. This shredder allows you to feed up to 12 sheets at a time (I actually found it can manage slightly more than that). That's not bad - previous shredders I've used can be annoyingly slow to use, only accepting four or five sheets at a time. The pull out tray is a good feature too (as apposed to lifting off the heavy top). I just think that £200 plus is a lot of money to spend on something that essentially just rips up paper. But if you can get it at a reduced price on amazon then go for it!

The shredder was bought for home use and it is a very good quality shredder. It is not noisy, it runs smoothly and shreds everything just as it should. I can recommend this shredder, it does have a safety lock which would be handed if you have children in the house. All in all it is a good model of shredder. When the shredder arrived it was damaged and I contacted the seller and they arranged for a replacement shredder to be sent out to me. I did not receive word when it was going to arrive the delivery man just turned up with it, however regardless of that it was replaced promptly by the seller.

I put my machine to the test the morning after it arrived sadly it was duff, so I did as they request you to do on a label and got in touch with them first.(Fellowes)The lady I spoke to was very polite and understanding and advised me to return it, what moor can you ask of a customer service dep?I got onto Amazon ordered a replacement that arrived next day and this one works perfectly, over all Fellowes should be proud of there customer service as they acted in a first class manor thank you Fellowes and thank you Amazon for your first class service regards Eddie the happy customer.

This shredder easily handles half a dozen sheets at a time - and claims to do more (up to 11), but it is such an improvement on my old one, I don't want to push it and jam it up. It cuts docs into small strips roughly 5cm by 2mm wide and the big bin will hold masses of these shreds. Turns itself off, forward, neutral and reverse for if it does jam. Also locks, so you can't start it by accident. A brand I trust. Very happy with it.

Not been using it for very long but so far no problems. The only thing that stopped it getting a 5 is the top has to be lifted off to empty the collection bucket and the top is a bit heavy. But it does a great job and cost a lot less than by last shredded which had a lift out container, so guess that's the price I paid for getting a cheaper one.
