I had to strip a large area of parquet flooring. I mistakenly thought an orbital sander alongside a palm sander for the edges would suffice.'Fraid not! So not wishing to wreck the place with an industrial drum sander I opted for the Einhell.Out of the box this is a rather nice looking piece of kit. A surprising amount of metal compared to the nearly all plastic efforts of some rather more well known & much higher priced manufacturers. The lead is a useful length, the dust outlet can either be fitted to a vacuum or you can use the plastic box supplied. Obviously this won't collect everything but it goes a little way to reducing the mess.Fitting the belts is a doddle with a simple lever to pull out to remove the old sheet, slip the new one on,(keep an eye on the arrows, they need to point to the rear of the machine, else the join will give way pretty quickly). Once in place simply snap the lever back in.There are various settings from gentle(ish) to 'oh lord I've just dug a hole in my floor!'. Start slow & work your way up. While you're at it, start in a corner as out of the way as possible if you've not used a belt sander before & get a feel for it. Don't dawdle in one place, whatever the setting, as these really are more like fine planers than sanders. Keep the machine moving smoothly and evenly. Go for a fine grade paper until you get the hang of things. The trigger is easily held but will soon leave your hand tired so the locking button is handy but is best avoided until you've gotten used to things. The handle at the front is adjustable & nearly always vital so get it comfortable for you.Goggles, gloves & a mask are essential.Be prepared for the mess, it comes as a bit of a shock at first. This really kicks up a storm, especially if used indoors where after a while it gets necessary to open a door or window & wait for the cloud to settle. For removing large scale & difficult to remove surfaces this is well worth considering. It's very noisy & requires a very firm grip. As soon as it's up & running & touches a surface it will try &head off into the sunset, taking you along with it if at all possible. Not to worry, it takes a little mastering but once you forget trying to use it like any other sander & learn to use it's power to your advantage you'll find yourself accomplishing harder sanding tasks in a quicker & more effective fashion. The Einhell represents very good value for money. More than powerful enough for domestic use, a useful & easily purchased belt size, well constructed with good ergonomics & a very competitive price. For first timers, like me, this is a very useful option & a handy tool to have around. Recommended.

Don't really know why I ordered this, I was bored, saw this and decided that I needed to sand the top of front door as sometimes it caught on the frame. Its a bit pathetic when I look back on it ! This summer I decided to 'do-up' a 60 year old bench -- so it said on the plaque. It was a big heavy thing made of oak, eight feet long and six legs. It was reclaimed and had been dip-painted before getting mouldy and had moss growing on it. If it hadn't been for this (and a hell of a lot of sandpaper), I'd still be doing it now. This sander is much too large to do any intricate bits of work but for big straight areas, its fantastic. I honestly never imagined it would be large and heavy,I think it took me about 6 months to pluck up the courage to turn the beast on, I only did it when someone was there to call an ambulance if necessary. The main bad thing is -- The plastic 'dust bag' is a waste of time, the dust is unimaginable and covers you, whatever your sanding, the machine itself and everything in a four foot circumference, more if its windy ! On the whole though, it will only take 90 minutes to --- wipe down the sanded piece, clean the sander, shower and change clothing, that's nothing when you think you would be sanding by hand until the early hours of the morning with all the lights on and the door open to see a little better and look forward to doing the same the next day. IMPORTANT, please ensure you use goggles and facemask. If you're doing a large piece, you will definitely need them.

I needed something to sand down decking and fence posts, nothing heavy duty or any massive (yet) projects, so opted for something that had already had good reviews and offered me value for money as I couldn't justify Makita level money and the Bosch, Black and Decker or JCB reviews for kit around this price range were really not favourable or the sander didn't have the features I wanted. The item turned up when it was scheduled, worked out of the box and has done so far all I have asked of it and flawlessly.I do advise STRONGLY that you also purchase a crepe cleaning stick to clean your belts off during/after use which will save you buying new belts when you really do not need.Plenty of powerfor the price but if you are looking at running it all day every day I Can't say if it will live up to your needs but for the average DIY guy doing household tasks to keep the missus happy this tool should fill your needs. The dust extractor box isn't amazing, but it saves you a fair amount of work, I've not tried adding a hoover or suction attachment so can't say how well or badly that performs.

For the price I have no complaints about this item. Once you get over the dust collector, which fills in about 30 seconds, and fit a hose to a vacuum extraction system, I use an old aquavac, then this is more than up for any task. I've been using it to rough and fine surface a couple of new work benches and it deals with laminated douglas fir with ease. It's also seen service on my oak floors and again no issues. If you aren't used to belt sanders they can be deadly to fine work but for this price experimentation is well within the moderate enthusiasts pocket. I got it to replace a suddenly defunct Wolf 4 inch sander from the good old days of heavy metal bodies, it was easily thirty five years old.The diference in balance and weight is remarkable and I work faster with this smaller footprint sander than I did with the Wolf.I heartily recommend this.

Bought this to sand a wooden floor in the kitchen, and have since sanded the hallway too. This product works very well, although it does take a little bit of self-management to ensure that it doesn't start to chew-up the sanding band.I would definitely recommend use with a vacuum cleaner, although DO NOT USE A DOMESTIC VACUUM CLEANER.. This sander creates a great deal of heat, and a standard vacuum cleaner also does the same, the combination will mean spontaneous combustion of the average domestic appliance.. Trust me!With a bit of practice in an inconspicuous area it is easy to practice and go through the different speeds and get used to handling this machine, just be careful to keep the lead well out of the way at all times!Enjoy!

I had cheap belt sander before but the belt would'nt stay on, then I saw this german made sander at a decent price and decided to go for it, I'm glad I did, it is a bit heavy but you can still hold it with one hand if you wish, but no matter what sander you have I recommend two hands to keep it stable, and with this sander the front top guard comes off so you can get under tables etc. other sanders don't do that, once again being german made its a good quality machine for the price, if you want an excellent sander for your money this is the one, and I'll be looking at more of they're power tools in future.

In the past I either went for top quality or cheap chuck away after the project DIY tools. This was available as not the cheapest but I could have it next day, without having to research if my money was being invested wisely.Well unlike some others I have had, the belt operation on this product was flawless. easy to setup without it shooting off one side or the other during setup.Very efficient dust collection even without vacuum attachment.NOT a throw away post project item, I can see this being with me in the years to come projects and in a Covid 202 has taken a lot of punishment

a well built and powerful sander able to deal with large jobs. I manage to sand a large teak table which has 5 years exposure to the elements removing every bit of grime. The only critisism is the awful mess it makes the provided dustbag collecting very littlre of the dust. You certainly need a mask and goggles to avoid chocking from dust.I will recommend practising on a something to get the feel of it before letting loose on a priced item as it can eat into wood like a plane.

Bought this to replace an old Bosch sander. This sander was half the price but has match the Bosch with performance. It is very easy to use, a simple lever to is used to change sanding belt. A knob on side aligns the belt. The sander is quiet compared to others in this price range. I have been using this for a few weeks on a building project, and had no problem removing 15yrs of varnish from old wooden doors and frames. I would recommend this belt sander to any DIY'er.

Amazing piece of kit. I wanted to strip 2mm off my decking which is 8ft / 18ft. Had it down to bare wood in 2 hours and that was taking my time. Anybody who gives this sander a bad review must be a pro. The dust collector is not up to much. Using this will still create a mess anyway so its not relevant to me. Power settings are brilliant. 5 speeds which is great for diffrent types of work. If you after a belt sander grab yourself one of these without question.

This is a typical piece of German engineering which looks and feels like one serious tool. The price from Amazon was considerably less than the price I would have had to pay in my local DIY store, so that's a double whammy. Although it comes fitted with just one belt, the belts are readily available in store or online. So far I have used it only once to shave the edge off a jamming door and it performed perfectly, saving me hours of hard work.

28.3.2013

I am a serious DIY person and like quality tools to work with. I would normally buy Makita, but since I seldom need a belt sander, I decided to try something a little cheaper. I was very impressed with this sander. Solid construction, good materials, works beautifully. Only frustration I had was with the dust collector , it worked beautifully, but is small, with heavy sanding of floors, it had to be emptied frequently.

I bought this belt sander because I have started a renovation of an old house where there are a number of ancient doors and also stonework to sand down.It is a powerful machine with variable speed control which I have found useful. It is not unduly heavy when working it over door woodwork at different angles etc.I would recommend it to anyone considering buying a belt sander on a limited budget.

27.12.2013

This replaced my old belt sander of 8 years vintage and I selected a sander with a little spare power for the heavier jobs and this seems to do the job well. I like the close in function at the front of the sander as well. Can't really be too sure about it as it is still new - I should come back in 6 months and let you know if it is still good, but fo rnow i am happy. Delivery good.

bought it to replace an expensive de Walt which burnt out just after the guarantee period - Has all the features of that and more at a third of the price and is lighter to use - build quality is very good for the money and is generally a well designed machine - as I can buy three of these for the same money as a de Walt i don't see any comparison that doesn't bring this out on top.
