I've lost count at the number of toasters I've got through over the years, some fancy, some basic, some would warm, some defrost, some with a stainless steel case, some plastic but they all have had one thing in common, they didn't toast....... And only realised none of them toasted since last year when the dualit arrived..... all this time i've put up with machines that just don't work. Its an odd thing to try and describe, I can't put my finger on any particular reason why the dualit is different other than to comment that since it's sat neatly on the worktop its been used several times everyday whereas before the toaster would rarely be used more than once a fortnight.Perhaps some plus points might help to describe why its a proper toaster.* It takes most sizes of bread (from Morrisons instore multigrain to sainsbury's batch - both huge slices)* controls are simple, somewhat retro but feel good and they work* consistent results which enables more accurate settings from my memory* Toasted sandwiches in toaster bags - slots wide enough to take a decent fillingHaving had the machine for nearly a year it has not stopped making great toast and has been 100% reliable. In operation, each slot has a sprung bread holder which widens if you prefer toasted doorsteps (or sandwiches / half a currant bun).. to check the toast whilst 'cooking' just pull up the lever... the elements stay on. the rotary dial for each half is marked from 1 to 8 , and there are four steps between each number (which suggest there are 28 different settings - (theres no 0)) in the centre of the rotary dial is a cancel button. the other two buttons are for defrost and one that only operates one side of the element - if you like your toast half done. It's light and immediately out of the box this gave me the impression of not the best build quality.... though as soon as the controls are used its quality seems better and after a year I can't fault it..... other than I couldn't find the crumb tray for a while and was convinced I had to hold the unit upside down & shake it to get the bits out... I should have read the instructions!

This toaster does everything I ask of it - toasts varying thicknesses of bread evenly & to whichever shade of brown you prefer, deals just as happily with frozen bread, bagels, crumpets & teacakes, & looks great in my kitchen.I spent a fair while pondering which toaster to buy when my faithful old Tefal finally gave up the ghost. It had to be able to toast a minimum of 4 slices in one go (teenagers do toast in large quantities), it had to be able to deal with frozen bread (remembering to take a loaf out of the freezer before I actually need it is not something I'm famed for) & it had to look good. Unfortunately there are plenty of machines that live up to my exacting requirements,so which one to choose?I had always fancied a Dualit & been impressed by the performance & longevity of the ones owned by friends - as well as the degree of loyalty they seem to inspire in their owners! But, to be honest, I really felt that the price tag on these gleaming steel machines was just a bit OTT. The Lite, then, seemed like a good compromise - a reasonably priced 4 slice Dualit toaster, not in steel but in an attractive cream finish.I have not been disappointed & when (hopefully a long time in the future) this one ceases to toast, I will not hesitate to loyally buy another Dualit. It is now 2020 and my beloved Dualit is still going strong! The cream plastic hasn't changed colour and all four slots are still functioning perfectly. It happily survived the endless onslaught of teenagers and now only has light duties catering for me and my other half. Even if it died today (and touch wood that it doesn't!), I would not hesitate to recommend it to others and buy a new one myself. Well done, Dualit!

I entered the market for a new toaster when I dropped the old one while cleaning it!I had previously used a Dualit toaster with a dial mechanism and while I liked the styling, it had an annoying feature of sounding and looking like it was on, when it switched off at the plug!I chose this toaster because it had the Dualit styling, along with whole host of features that the old Dualit did not- 4 slices, the really useful inspection option, Bagel and Roll feature, Cancel button and the so far untried, Frozen Bread button. All this for less than half the price of a standard chrome Duralit toaster (though I notice the price has gone up a little since I bought mine).I was really pleased when the toaster arrived as it looks fabulous, big and very expensive, friends coming into my kitchen have commented on how good it looks. We have had the toaster a few weeks now and are still very pleased with it. All the features work well, though sometimes it does not toast totally evenly on both sides and I don't know why.My children love this Duralit toaster and find it simple to operate, especially the option for making toasted sandwiches.I did my research before buying this Dualit toaster, I am really happy with itand given the choice would buy it again.

For many years i envied friends with a Dualit toaster... At the time WAY OUT of my price range.. could never justify spending so much on a toaster. After my Russell Hobbs toaster, that had served me well for donkey's years coughed, spluttered and died, imagine my delight when just on the off chance i asked Amazon if they had a Dualit toaster in my price range? They sure did! So i bought this one. I say again..DREAM COME TRUE.. looks elegant, love the colour, love that you can pop up the toast to check it without actually having to cancel the program, bagels, english muffins, thick or thin cut home made bread, hot cross buns, frozen option for all of the above!Yes, it is more expensive than say any value brand of toaster, but boy what value for money this one is! This is the toaster that will still be going strong 10 or 15 years plus from now! Well worth the wait and i know i must seem sad, getting excited about a toaster but this one does "toasted sandwiches" too with the help of a cage that slots right in to the toaster... Hey presto... toasted ham and cheese sandwich! love love love it.. you will too!!!

Very pleased with this. Having owned a more expensive 'all metal' Dualit before (timer went which I annoyingly found out later could have easily been replaced by me, and probably would have still been going strong now if we hadn't ditched it) I was a little unsure about the 'lite' where the coloured panels are plastic, but I was surprised how substantial and well built it feels. We couldn't stretch to the 'all metal' this time and I got a really good deal at Amazon on the 'lite' at just under £60 which is nearly a third cheaper than the 'all metal', and well below the RRP. I have a sneaky suspicion that the components inside are the same as the 'all metal' too, but don't know for sure.Have just toasted some bread from frozen and bagels so far, it gives a nice even toasting on all four slices. Really nice wide slots and heating elements glow quickly unlike it it's predecessor, a Prestige, which barely glowed. Highly recommended and worth spending the extra £20 over the run of the mill competition.

Love the toaster! As I said in My matching kettle review, looks brilliant with the kettle in My kitchen. Not experienced any of the issues with it toasting more on one side than other. To be honest, My last toaster did that and if this one did, wouldn't bother Me. Once again, Amazon were brilliant at delivery. Was supposed to be out of stock and there was a 3 month wait....I purchased anyway so would receive once they got it back in. Had it within the week. Not saying this would happen with all items that were out of stock, and I have waited a couple of months for things in the past, but this time it worked out brilliant that I could have it sooner rather than later.

It's ok but not perfect. The bagel feature and the pop and check feature are excellent but slightly uneven toasting but minor issue really. The look is typical Dualit so you either like it or not. My reason for complaint is that the company like many others really try to sell the Britishness of the product and it's not British at all it's made in China. You have to buy a classic model if you want British, and this was my main reason for paying a premium price over other products because I thought it was made in England. Saying that I'm still glad I bought it just slightly disappointed.

Excellent product, well made. The one side toasting feature was a big selling point and works well. It toasts both quickly and evenly.I didn't purchase the optional sandwich tray and have not needed it. It is possible to access even small items such as tea cakes by lifting the handle upwards. It's helpful to be able to lift up the toast during operation to preview toasting without effecting the cooking time...

After much searching for the perfect toaster i finally found this one and love it. It toasts perfectly for every size bread especially pitta breads and thicker slices at no 3 setting. So far no fault with this product. very easy to clean and really suits my kitchen. Also purchased Dualit sandwich cage and would highly recommend this product also.

Well made and sturdy product. I cannot get too excited about a toaster, but having said that it makes nice toast (which is one of my favourite things). I wouldn't say it toasts too evenly, but then unless you are paying at least double this price, what toaster does? Good value for the price and Amazon offered the best price.

Very happy with the Dualit toaster. Works very efficiently, I like the fact you can lift the lever to check progressand it doesn't change the setting. It also takes thicker items like crumpets and muffins which I use.Looks smart on the worktop. Have only had it for a few weeks so will see how long it lasts.

Dualit. Had my previous toaster for 10 years before some buffoon ruined it. This one looks like it could last just as long. DO NOT waste money on inferior items, Dualit are the best by a country mile in my opinion. They just work and work and work. From what I can see - made in Britain as well - WOO HOO!!!!!

24.1.2016

Easy to use toaster and bagel heater. Has the Dualit retro feel and not a toaster that needs to be shoved into the cupboard out of view after using. As far as toasters go it feels well built and has enough control to get your toast just as you like it. Also has a defrost function and removable crumb tray.

My old dualit toaster died after 10 years of constant use so upgraded to the four slice and so far I am very pleased. Looks great and the peak feature is handy. Each pair of slots can be set to different times so works really well for the family breakfast. All in all very happy.

We chose this toaster as we previously had the two slice one. We have found this make to be worth the money as we also have kettle and coffee pot. We would recommend the maker every time. Have also purchased the sandwich cage to go with toaster which is great.
