I really hesitated a long time before buying those boots. I was worried it would be a silly purchase that I would soon regret.I never owned Dr. Marten's shoes or boots before so I can not compare (I had tried one pair of patent leather Dr. Marten's in a shop and I thought they were very unconfortable and their rounded shape didn't suit me at all). So I will review and rate this boot as boots and not as Dr. Martens.First: the boots look as beautiful as I had hoped they would, if not better. My partner was also very impressed by them. I had ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly.I couldn't be bothered to spend 5 minutes loosening the laces every time I remove the shoes and tightening themagain so I really appreciate the zip (which I do not believe has any negative impact on the look of the boots). In fact I think that the combination laces/zip is perfect: the zip for the practicality and the laces for the look but also for a perfect fit even if I put on or loose weight.I wore those shoes for a 3 hours walk in the city on the first day and found them very comfortable. I wore long socks, as I had read from other reviewers that the roses could rub against the skin and irritate, and didn't have any blister at the end of the day. I have since sometimes worn them with ankle socks for a short time and haven't had any problem either. I do not wear the boots as often as I would like, as I work in an office where we are expected to wear more formal cloths, but after a few months I haven't noticed any sign of wear and tear so I am reasonably confident that they will last at least for a few years.I haven't yet found any reason to regret this purchase :) !

I have a pair of these and I've been wearing them nearly every day for six months. They are fantastic - comfortable, functional, and very cool! They're even pretty good at keeping my feet dry in wet Edinburgh weather. But, there are a couple of things which I think people should be aware of before buying them. First, they are kind of squeaky! It's not a big problem, but it's certainly noticeable in a quiet office or library... it's easily solved by applying some hand lotion to the very bottom of the boot's tongue, just where it starts to curve for the ankle. This is where the leather rubs together and squeaks. Lotion usually solves it for a couple weeks (and keeps the leather nice and soft!)The bigger problem is the scuffing. These boots are not made of normal Doc Marten leather. Not surprising - they had to be thin enough to be embroidered, and the thinness makes them extra-comfy. But, the material they are made of scuffs really easily and as far as I can tell, irreparably. These are not normal "buff it out with some shoe polish" scuffs. It looks like there is some sort of black coating over the inner material giving it the black leather look, and when you scuff it, that coating just flakes right off. I think to look like new it would need to be painted over with something, but I haven't found anything I'm willing to paint onto my lovely Vondas yet! Shining it up does make the scuffs stand out less but they are still pretty serious.

These Dr. Martens are the most comfortable boots I've ever had. As usual with Docs, you have to walk through the pain of rubbing and blisters (well, I have to anyway), but it's totally worth it! Once broken in, these boots mold to your foot as if they were made for you. The laces mean you can fit each boot perfectly (in case you have odd size calf muscles like me), thus making the inside zip one of its best features as I also have to insert orthotics. The leather is very sturdy, as is the stitching, and these boots offer some protection from water. The sole is a typical of Docs, good grip, non slip (better than some hiking boots I own). The photo is exactly how they look in the flesh. They look great over skinny jeans, black or red leggings and even under boot cut jeans as a rose is still visible near the toe. Another striking look is to change to red laces (make sure you get long ones). You'll definitely get some comments wearing these boots.Super good-looking and super comfy. You can wear these at work all day and still be able to power walk home!

I bought these boots for myself from money I received for xmas and they were totally worth it! I used to own and love Dr Martens when I was younger and had been hankering after a new pair for quite some time. They are softer leather than standard DM's and I had no trouble in breaking them in. In fact, they were comfortable from the first time I wore them. The side zip makes it some much more easy to get them on and off without the constant lacing and relacing! The stiching on the sides is just gorgeous and I have had numerous comments about them since I started wearing them.In terms of the quality, they are excellent quality, which as most DM fan's would expect. The soles are sturdy and the grips are great.During the recent snow and ice, I turned to my beloved DM's to tramp may way along very slippery paths to get to work and haven't so much as slipped once! All in all, exactly what you would expect from Dr Marten boots and definately value for money!

I still have my original Docs from before they changed the leather soles to rubber AirWair. Before they added zippers and made the shoelaces a decorative feature. Before EVERYONE had a pair. They're a little beat up but still look great. Docs were the Gold Standard when it came to punky boots and I wore them everywhere, every day. I haven't bought a new pair in years because I wasn't fond of the clunky wider soles. But, these...these are fabulous! They are prettier than the originals and I LOVE the roses! So many compliments, too. They lace up to mid-calf but do have an inside zipper. You can adjust the calf fit with the laces. They fit as expected. The interior is comfortable with lots of toe room. They are perfect with skirts and dresses. I'm wearing them right now with leggings and a black dress. How do they look? Pretty darn hot.The price is affordable compared to any other pair of mid-size leather boots. And, they have embroidered roses.

GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS. ??????. These boots are perfect and look exactly as in the picture, the sizing is spot on, I have always been a size 5 but recently had to buy size 4 as sizes have changed so much, but I got a 5 and they were a little big but would rather stuff the toes a bit to make them fit than a four rubbing. They came in a proper Dr martens box so they are real but they are a fashion boot not a work boot so they are different to the old style "doc's", they are thinner leather and zip at the side so you can get in and out of them easily and the laces still do all the way up so you can adjust to fit, I walk and cycle a lot so have quite musclely calves but they fit fine.I have a feeling they will need to be broken in but they are well worth it.I would not normally pay £100 for any one item but am so glad I did, if its any help choosing size they are real leather and give quite a lot.

I wore the fake knock-off versions of these boots and loved them until they burst (11 months after purchase). Having owned DMs in the past, I know they last forever, so I did a mental calculation and decided that I could pay £40 a year for the fake ones or £140 once for the real thing. I’m so glad I went for the real thing. They were easier to break in than I’m used to - my previous DMs blistered up my heels a dozen times before they settled, these ones didn’t, and after only a few weeks, they’d turned into the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had. I get loads of compliments about them, and they’re really versatile, being both utilitarian and feminine. They also make me an inch taller, which is nice. I have balance problems, so I can’t wear heels, so these are a sneaky way for me to tower over people a little more than I would normally be able to.

The stitching across the top of the toe box/bottom of the laces does not allow for much foot swelling or end-of-day puffiness. If you have any issues with that, you won't be comfortable in these. I'm stretching mine out just a bit.The footbed is totally comfy and the soles are bouncy. Good arch support. Nothing feels squished down or out of place. They are very true to size. I got the 11s, and I cannot wear thick socks with the boots. I also have thick calves, and currently cannot lace in the top three holes on the boots, but I expect that will change with wear as the leather softens up and stretches the way it has on my other Docs. The colour is true black, and the roses are nicely stitched and a great colour - they are inset in the leather, so the appliques are visible on the inside of the boot. Overall I am definitely pleased with them.

While I had to return these boots, it wasn't due to any defect in the item. They fit true to size on my feet but unfortunately I have rather large calves and could not wear them. The boots themselves were beautiful and I'm quite certain I would have loved them, because I've been wanting these for years. They arrived quickly, and honestly the experience has been ideal considering the circumstances. Definitely still deserves the five stars. The main point for me writing this review is just to warn those with larger calves that while the boot may fit your foot, it may not fit your calf. For reference I bought a US size 9, and where the boot stopped zipping up was about 17 inches around.Definitely measure your calf if you're unsure. That being said, I may try a different boot in the Dr. Marten's line (one that stops a little shorter ;] )

I have debated buying these boots for over a year and then decided to take the plunge - OMG am so glad I did. They are lovely. Still trying to break them in currently but have had them over a week now. The roses, due to the embrodiery on the inside of the boot, scratch your leg but its not painful just uncomfortable. They are true to size I am size 4 and they fit perfectly. The only thing I would say is that I have quite a thick calf and luckily because these Docs have laces and a zip I am able to zip them up with not too much of a gap at the top as I can adjust the laces, but this is worth considering before you buy.All in all a great purchase which will last me many years and I have worn them once outside so far and have had a number of comments about how great they are - so thats good. Fabulous!

This is a beautiful boot! I bought them to ride my motorcycle because Docs can handle a lot & also because it adds a feminine touch for woman rider. As always Docs have amazing rubber bottoms, which was key for me for the anti-slip on pavement. The boots are not heavy at all, which I also love. The rubber on the bottom is actually not as stiff as I thought it might be, which is great. If I had a complaint it’s that the shaft for the leg is quite narrow. It has laces, so it’s easy enough to widen, but I had to widen so much the tongue of the boot almost isn’t enough to cover the front, especially when I ride & have pants tucked in.But over all I love the red flowers on the boot when I’m riding & feel confident my feet won’t slip & are protected.

I am giving this item five stars as they are really, really amazing boots. Rose design is absolutely exquisite and I also love the lacing at the front, which as other reviews say, can be adjusted accordingly depending on how tightly you want them to fit around your calves. So it's easy to wear them either under your jeans or with your jeans tucked in :D Only issue is that mine were far too big!! I'm including this in the review as I want to advise that it is probably better to go for a size down from your usual size when buying these boots, as they do come out rather large. I am usually a size 6.5 to 7, but will definitely require size 6 in these. But awesome boots,a must have for anyone that likes to look a bit different!!

Purchased as a surprise for my partner. She absolutely loved them. The look: style and the look will be liked by anyone. A lot of people have complimented her even my mother, whos in her 60's wants a pair.A really nice pattern with the classic Dr.Martens look. The feel; my partner is very happy, she wears a lot now even to work with little breaking in now.The price, well you will have to fork out more than usual as you are paying for great quality not just for the make. You could spend this amount in J.D.Sports on trainers that will last 5 months, these will last you years if looked after!A good investment.Overall you wont be disappointed,my partner actually wants another pair now.Fast delivery, excellent condition.

So I wore Carolina combat boots all through college straight from the military surplus store. Then I owned 2 pairs of Harley Davidson boots that lasted over 10 years each. There is no comparison when it comes to comfort. After wearing these around the house for 2 afternoons about 5 hours total they are starting to break in with no pain or irritation at all. That's amazing. I treated them straight out of the box which I'd recommend. They are gorgeous and I love them. Most importantly make sure you go over the reviews to get your proper size. My feet are on the narrow side with a high arch. Depending on the brand I wear an 8, sometimes 7 1/2.I got these in a 7 and the fit is perfection.I am one very happy gen x-er

I was very excited to get my genuine Dr Marten Boots until I put them on. I know I have to find boots with a "wide fit" generally so it's possible that the boots are "true to size" and simply narrow for my particular feet. I find they are pinching over the top of my feet even though there is plenty of wiggle room for my toes and they rub on the heels as if they are too big. I have worn them a few hours a day every other day for a few weeks now and they remain uncomfortable although they are not pinching as much. I will persist with them and hope they will break in soon. They are a good quality boot and I have had many compliments on the look of them so perhaps they are better suited to someonewith narrow feet
