I used to wear Dr. Martens to school in the late seventies/ early eighties. I had a couple of pairs of ox-blood ones and my last pair were the ten hole black ones: So now some 30 years after I last wore a pair of these iconic boots I decided to buy a new pair for old times sake! They arrived in good time, factory packed and in mint condition. There has been a lot of discussion about the fact that they are no longer exclusively made in England, like back in the day. Yes, they do still make some in England but you have to pay a much higher price for this privilege. I would be interested to see a new pair of English made ones next to ones made out in the far east, just for comparison. That said, these are still cool looking, kick ass boots. It's funny how you remember things but I would have sworn that the leather, when I was a kid, was much thicker and harder. I remember getting cuts and abrasions around my ankles from the hard leather rubbing above my socks, and terribly painful blisters on my heals and toes, until you had worn them in. But that was a right of passage and you had to get through it without complaining. These new boots seem a lot more malleable. The Dr. Marten website states that all the boots made outside England are made to the same exacting standards and using the same processing techniques as the English made ones.I found them to be true to size: I take a size 9 (uk.). They are a perfect fit. I like to do the laces up tight, so the fronts are laced completely together and touching. I just got them today so wont go far; Just breaking them in gently around the house and maybe with a short walk to the local shop. Interestingly the souls feel softer than when I was a kid.... or maybe I was just a lot lighter back then.I am very excited to have them and will probably treat them far better than I did my old ones I had as a kid... Any way 10/10 for these boots so far. A true icon and legend of the working class and British youth culture.

So I was So excited to get a pair of Docs, and when I saw these I was so happy I went ahead and bought them!Honestly I love them a lot. They are really beautiful and really well made. The stitching is well secured, the sole and leather uppers are very neatly joined and you can clearly see that a great amount of attention to detail and quality craftsmanship went into making them.Despite all of this, they were a little tight. While this isn't so much a problem as it is a tiny irritation, I honestly would recommend that before you purchase a pair you go in to a store and have a pair fitted before you make your choice. While the prices are really decent here, the sizing REALLY important, especially in terms of longevity and overall comfort of the shoes.Like I said, it's not so much of a problem to me, as I know that a pair needs to be worn in. Every foot is different, which means you need to take time to shape the shoe to your foot. These shoes are made of a great quality kind of leather that will last a long time if you take care of it, but in order to reach the optimum amount of comfort and longevity, you really need to take the time to walk these shoes in.In my experience, and I am really an amateur when it comes to this, the part where the laces ends and the rest of the shoe covers you foot, is the part that gets me the most. There is a join in the leather there and it hurts your foot if you walk in them too long. I believe that this will go away as I walk them in further, but like I said, you need to check the fit before you buy them. That's all from this very happy potato. :)

I bought these because I love the quality Doc Martens make for a boot. Though these are made in China I did not notice much of a quality difference like other cry babies might spew about the UK made boots. If they want to pay $230 for a pair of boots go for the UK ones at this point you are paying for the name.I rated it 4 stars because of two issues I had with these boots.1. The right boot tongue was sewn in crooked so it moves off to my far right side. My quick easy fix was to take a lighter and heat up some needle nose pliers and crimp it into place.2. My boots came scuffed so I had to polish them before I got to wear them. When it came to breaking them in I did it hardcore.I work them to work where I am on my feet for 10 hours a day and wore them for two days tightly laced so the break in period was quick for me. If you are a casual boot jokey then you might want to fill these up with water for 30 mins. Then dump them out put on two pairs of socks and tie these bad boys on. Wear them like this for 8 hours. After 4 hours take them off. Dry your feet with alcohol and foot powder replace your socks and put them back on. After 8 hours let them air dry for 24 hours in front of a small fan. This will fix your complaining about your delicate little feet.I strongly suggest keeping them clean and polished. This will improve the life time of the boot by a year or two. I know this because I wear combat boots A LOT.

This purchase is the result of several £20-£30 pairs of boots meeting ugly ends because I walk everywhere and am hard on shoes. I first bought these boots in my normal size, 4, but the fact that these are unisex made all the difference, and they fit my feet in the width but were way too long, with a good half-inch of space in the toe. The 4's will be returned tomorrow, but I sized down to a 3, and they fit perfectly. They're snug, but not uncomfortable. If you're female with narrow feet, I definitely recommend going a size down. It does not feel like they will need much breaking in, and they don't hurt my feet at all, even though I already have blisters from a different pair of shoes.I suffered an ankle injury last year that healed poorly, and the support from these boots is phenomenal. My only concern it that the leather across the toes appears to already be a little cracked, right out of the box. At this point, I can't be bothered to return them for another pair, so I'm going to buy leather conditioner and hope for the best. If they wear poorly, I'll update this review to reflect that. In the meantime, I'm quite pleased. The price from this seller is also quite reasonable compared to the £100+ these boots sell for elsewhere. Even so, they're the most expensive shoes I own, and I'm hoping they last as long as people say they do.

I love the boots - getting a pair was a retro kick for me since I had a pair back in the late 70's when I was punking around in ripped jeans and dirty T-shirts, and now that I've hit middle aged I found myself getting all nostalgic for the boots. Gone are the torn jeans and dirty T-shirts and instead I'm wearing the boots with a rather fetching pair of chinos and a grandfather collar shirt but you know what - I feel like the dog's b**llocks again as I prance about watching my contemporaries trundle around the garden centre in their cheap supermarket trainers. I know I'm cool, I know I'm hip, I know I'm too sexy for my boots. From new the boots do take a little breaking in,so I'd invest in a packet of plasters for those blisters, but after a week or so the leather seems to soften and mould to the shape of your feet and you find yourself in Comfort City. So comfortable in fact are the boots that it almost feels like you are wearing trainers. I love the boots and fully expect them to last so that a decade or so down the road I'll be the coolest dude in the nursing home.Dr Martens - not just for kicking Mods in the head but perfect for prancing around garden centres, wearing to Plenty of Fish dates and splashing through puddles. Love my Dr Martens.

This is my second pair of Dr. Martens, since I fell in love at first sight with the first one, and then I kept looking at the cherry ones....and finally bought them.I hope these are as good as the other pair (1460 black). Leather seems a bit thinner, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. I mean, I love that thick leather, but my ankles don't think the same (even after a few month's, I better be careful tying them, or they will rub my ankles)Color is even better than in pictures, and the extra height (compared to the lower 1460's), does make a difference, even if it's just two additional holes.I really hope I like these as much as the 1460's.... then it will be sure worth it (since they are not what I'd call cheap, and finding a good deal on 1460's was way easier... and the deal was better compared to official price.)Also, these feel a bit larger than my 1460's.... I feel I could use a smaller size (note: I also kinda feel that on my 1460's. but these feel a bit larger). But they feel good anyway. I don't like small shoes. They hurt my feet.

I've had quite a few pairs of boots in my time & for years I swore by DMs, but I had quite a few pairs which didn't last at all well, so I changed to Ranger's instead, but they weren't as comfy as DMs.I've just bought these to see if they can last more than the normal 3 months or so that they normally do before the sole goes kaput.Tried them on today, the perfect fit & worn them all day and so comfy & warm to wear.So good I might just buy another pair of 1490's in Cherry/Oxblood, then again it might be 1914's.It should be noted that these are the cheaper Chinese made ones, you can get the "Vintage" ones which are made in the original factory at Wollaston, Northamptonshire, but they are much more expensive & whether they would/will last any longer than these I don't know. You pays your money and takes your choice!

Love love love these boots! I've wanted a pair of cherry reds since I worked for Doc Martens about 13 years ago but somehow I only just got round to buying a pair. The leather is quite stiff, as it always is with the DM smooth leather but oddly, a bit more comfy than I remember then being.Only downside is that the box got a bit squished in transit, the tongue on the left boot kind of got folded in half which is going to make that boot a lot more uncomfortable to wear until broken in, but that's the risk you take buying online and getting boots delivered. Considering the price I paid for these compared to in store though... I can deal with that!Size-wise, for reference, I'm usually a size 6.5 - 7 in most shoes,I purchased a 6 in these and they're pretty much perfect, but roomy enough for some nice thick thermal socks!

Ordered on Wednesday 28th December here by Saturday 31st December on Standard Delivery - wasn't expecting them for another week with the New Years Holidays etc!Delivered in Perfect condition: prestige packaging and a prestige product! No marks on the Dr. Martens i.e. they didn't look like a pair that had been worn and returned or a pair that was for customers to try on.These are my first pair of Dr. Martens, waited for ages to make sure I got the right ones which suited me best! They're incredibly comfortable and very versatile to wear, you just need to make sure you get the right height ones to suit your shape and style!I didn't purchase the more expensive vintage ones but I don't regret it and I would consider it next time!I was originally going to purchase directly from Dr. Marten however when I saw them here

I love these boots so much, but I had trouble figuring out the sizing. After reading reviews and checking many sizing charts, I went with the 8 UK/M 9 - W 10 M US, as I usually wear a 10 in women's shoes. My advice is to size down. The tongue of the boots say they're a 9 men's/10 women's in US sizes (which is what I ordered), but a 9 in men's shoes corresponds to an 11 in women's. These boots are more true to the men's sizing, so the supposed women's 10 fits more like an 11. I have way too much room in them. Docs are supposed to fit a bit tightly so they can stretch and conform to your foot, but I have a good inch and a half to two inches of space in the toe.Tl;dr: If you're a woman buying these boots, get the UK size 3 sizes down from your US size. I.e., if you wear size 10, get size 7 UK and so on and so forth.

I am a great fan of Doc Marten boots, having owned and worn a pair of 1914 boots for over 20 years. I recently bought a new pair of 1490 black boots. I have read a lot of the reviews that the new boots made in the Far East are of lower quality than the British boot, and to some extent that could be true as the leather is certainly different, but don’t be put off, these are still great boots and well worth the price.Overall I have found them comfortable and have quickly taken the shape of my feet. Some reviews talk about breaking them in slowly around the house, I am more about lacing them up tightly and walking miles in them from the start. Yes, you will get a few rubs and sore patches, but that will quickly pass and you will have a really great pair of comfortable boots that will last.

Bought these for my wife as a gift and she was very pleased with them. The package came in the official D.M box with all official logos and stickers. Even though the product was cheaper than the RRP the overall quality was no different than the official DM site. The boots themselves have a shiny leather finish, but not as far as a PVC look. The height is about 6-8 inches above the ankle.Be expected as with all DMs for these to feel a little rugged at first. If you're expecting to put them on and them feel like Ugg Boots, then you haven't had a proper pair of DMs!Overall, great product that when worn in were a great success. I would recommend these to all DM customers.A traditional looking boot that will keep fans of DMs happy.

The first two weeks with these shoes were a pain! I had to wear two pairs of socks and and plasters on the back of my feet. But after the boots got adjusted to my feet, they became the most comfortable things I ever worn.If you want to get these shoes I would suggest you first go in a local shop and find out what size you need. Specifically find the ones which are a bit tight because they will, as I said before, adjust to your feet. Then you can come on Amazon and buy these or any other listing.I haven't had enough time with them to be able to say how well they last, but I do have friends and family that do and they all say that the boots will last a very long time.

I normally take a 6 in all shoe shops,(clarks,, aldo, next) but having looked at the reviews and they being Unisex Adult boots I ordered a size 5. The fit perfectly. If I had ordered a six they would have been too big. The sizing on some of the shoe products is not made very clear. It would be nice if this could be achieved as people would buy with more confidence. The difference in size between normal ladies sizes and unisex would be useful to know. I am happy with these and they came with an extra pair of laces (yellow) which is nice touch. Wondering if I should order the red, if the price is right but what size? These are 10 eyelet Dr Martens boots.

I bought these for my fiancé for Christmas 2013. He is obsessed! I recommend getting some sort of shoe polish as well. I didn't buy the dr marten shoe polish I got a different one from amazon but it works amazing on these beautiful boots. We live in VT and the winters are touch & they are lasting and lasting, haven't knocked or dinged them once. They came on time as expected from the shipping & the boots are veryhigh quality & very durable and my fiancé couldn't have loved them more. Im so glad this is the gift I got him because I can tell he'll have them for a very long time because he literally sits and shines them atleast 1x a day. haha.
