I love my Fly London boots, all five pair, and I'd have ten if the brand had a few higher-heeled designs. The "petrol" color is my favorite so far, as I have a thing for boots in less common hues--especially blue--but this shade, specific to FL, is a blue-green to dark green, and I find that it varies dependent on the type of leather. These in particular are a dark green with maybe the tiniest hint of blue, and might look a bit too much like classic green "wellies" for some tastes, but I like them. These provide a bit of "edge" to an what may be an otherwise dull ensemble. I'm turning 50 in a few months and also dealing with a wrecked back, and having a penchant for 4" heels and unique style most of my life,I realize my body has limitations as do my preferences; I don't want to look as if I'm trying too hard, but I'll never be ready for totally "practical" or "beige" anything in regard to style, and FL fits the bill for a little style and comfort as well. The uppers are a little tight, and I have to wear them buckled in the last hole, but I was cursed with 15" calves even though I'm a solid size 10 and sometimes 8. There is no elastic gap that some boots have, and that I usually must have in order to get most styles zipped all the way up, but these are fine with all of my jeans albeit a bit snug. They're not the sexiest boots, but I wore my trademark so-pointed-you-could-write-with-them toed 4" stiletto boots to a concert a couple of weeks ago, and not having worn heels for any length of time in a few years meant I was limping my way out with swollen legs and feet so painful I had to walk back to the car in my sock feet. This may not spell the ultimate end for my sky-high heels, but unless I'm sitting the entire time I'm wearing them, and am carried on a paladin, I think my act as a 6'1" woman has performed her swan song. Now, what am I to do with all of these stilettos taking up room in my closet?Oh, and these scuff like crazy, and if you use wax on them the color will darken! So I say just let them scuff, they look better worn anyway. Just don't wear them in a downpour or the leather will never look the same and you'll end up with soggy insoles and green feet.

I ordered these with some degree of trepidation - I do not have slim or delicate calves - 15" to be precise. Were they going to do up? The answer is yes - ok I had to adjust the buckle but they do up just and after one wearing they are already giving and much easier to put on.I read all the reviews before ordering so to answer some common concerns - yes the ankle area is relatively narrow and they are not the easiest to get on initially, but they do give. I would say they are true to size but not overly wide. As I have fairly standard to narrowish feet and narrow ankles I did not have to size up but if you have wide feet you might need to.They do mark but they are waxy leather so that's inevitable.A waxy leather cream will sort out marks and scuffs and keep them looking great. As for grip - they aren't particularly slippy but not overly grippy either. I walked over one of the metal cellar hatches that abound in my area and could feel that I didn't have much grip but it isn't as though I fell over. I am not sure I would test them in the icy conditions though. They are very comfy to walk in and quite supportive, which is important for me as I have very little natural padding on the soles of my feet and end up with callouses and corns if I don't wear the right shoes, these fit the bill nicely. Can't say I have tested them in rain but mine came with a label saying that they were much as any other footwear - moderately waterproof. I may use a waterproof wax leather dressing on them just to keep my feet dry.I got the dark brown which are a great true dark brown which is versatile. They are just about smart enough for work (which is great for me as I can't wear heels for any length of time) and can be casual too.Overall I am pleased with my purchase and the price I paid through Amazon. Not a cheap pair of boots so I expect them to last. But then again they weren't hugely expensive at Amazon's price either, go probably very good value for money.

I was apprehensive about buying these boots for 2 reasons after reading other reviews: Lots of people commented on them being a very narrow fit around the calf and others complained about them letting water in. Well, I am a size 7 and I have, I would say, very average calves - not fat, but definitely not skinny, and they fitted perfectly. In fact, they also have an adjustable strap so had I found them a little too snug I could have loosened them also, but there was no need. I have fairly narrow-ish feet and I found them to be a little wide but that just means I have the option to wear thick socks if I choose. They are very comfortable with or without thick socks. As for them letting in water,I took the advice of some other reviewers and purchased a tin of dubbin and smothered them with this when I bought them and so far no issues when out in quite heavy rain. They are very stylish but casual and I would say a little reminiscent of my Doc Martins from my teenage years in their feel. There are two bad points I have found: The first is their smell; they have quite a strong fishy smell when brand new but it does seem to be fading with wear. The other is the soles aren't great on smooth floors; they slide a bit on the floor of my local supermarket especially when they are wet. However, when traipsing through the mud at the local park, they seem to grip very well. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and I am definitely a new convert to Fly London.

I don't usually review products but am so pleased with my boots that I wanted to reassure other ladies with bigger calves that these boots would be suitable for them. I deliberated for some time before buying as I am a size 14 with 'dog-walking' calves measuring 15.5" at their widest point. The boots fall between a calf and knee high boot and therefore have a bit of give around the widest part of my calf. The buckle part is elasticated and can be let out to the 3rd hole which is where I wear them. Admittedly, I can only wear these with tights and a skirt or dress but this is what I bought them for as I prefer a chunkier boot with skinny jeans. It was a squeeze to get the zip done up at first but the boots were still comfortable as the leather is so soft, and since then, the leather has given considerably with wear and I have worn them all day at work several times now with no comfort issues. Also,a big bonus is that the sleek fit and the elongating effect on the leg due to the not quite knee height length is very flattering. I have not yet tested these in wet weather but do not expect them to be totally waterproof as with any other normal boot, and may treat them with a proofing spray. The only downside was the smell of the wax which had a definite hint of the farmyard as mentioned by another reviewer. This was quite strong at first but has worn off and hasn't put me off buying another pair in black to cover all eventualities.

5 stars because these were a great price and easy ordering and delivery, but I already knew this is a great pair of boots because I have another pair in red patent leather which have been cheering me up for the past 4 winters and still going strong. This time I chose the more conservative plain black as the red ones are still going strong and I needed something more neutral to wear for work. I have worn the old pair pretty regularly workdays and weekends, October to April, with tights on the tightest buckle, ( my calves are only 31cm diameter) and on looser buckles when wearing leggings and socks or looser still with jeans tucked in. I have tramped around Paris, Milan and New York on city breaks, always warm, comfy and dry, and even from first wearing these have been comfortable. The soles are hard wearing and I am barely loosing the full depth of studded soles on the older pair. perhaps if you have defined calf muscles these might be too tight for you, but for us girls with skinny shins and no calf to speak of, these are flattering to the leg and do no make that terrible galumphing sound as you walk like wellies and other boots do. I have always been complimented on them, and my only regret is that they are not maybe 3 to4 inches taller to make them truely knee high. these are the ONLY boots that really fit me, so I had to have another pair.

All these reviews seem to be saying how tight around the calves these boots are and how they let in water, how one boot's shade differed from the other and so on....in this case, I really believe these on Amazon are fakes. I have these exact boots in black and have experienced no leaks and none of the other faults people are describing. I have fairly slim calves - I'd guess around 33 cm - and I wear these over skinny jeans and still have some room. I would never buy anything of a high brand name from Amazon like Fly, GHD's etc...as you never know if they are genuine. There are so many fakes, (as I once experience when buying some Birkenstock sandals on Amazon and since then it is always a big NO-NO for me)so this is why I avoid it! I always buy such things from a reputable store, and bought my FLY boots from T-reds on the high Street - they were in the sale for £99. These boots are every bit as gorgeous to wear as they look! Also I am a size 5 and I had to go down a size in these as they were too loose on me, and when wearing tights they were even looser. Everyone here says they have to go up a size - not usually the case with this style of FLY boot - another iffy-sign!I do think everyone here should check them out and make sure they are genuine FLY boots!

LOVE my fly boots - I buy a new pair every year, although each lasts for many years! The calf fitting over jeans can be snug but there are adjustment buckles although some people do still find they cannot get the zip up. I've never experienced this in the past but this pair were 'extra snug' when first wearing, so it is worth considering this point especially if you've been working your calf muscles this past year!Super comfortable when walking, even on the first trip out. Just enough lift and chunkiness in the boots themselves to look good with skinny jeans but they also work with casual skirts or similar. Not always totally waterproof (soles seams when walking through long grass, muddy paths or puddles, but that's not a problem for everyone or all the time) and actual FLY customer service is appalling if you're trying to get spare buckle parts or similar (fingers crossed you have a helpful retailer) and if the boots themselves weren't so loved, I wouldn't spend my money with the brand. Oh - zip sometimes need changing every year or so, but a good cobbler takes care of that.So overall, highly recommend if you're looking for a practical, stylish and most importantly, comfortable boot to wear around town and also on (dry/ish) country walks.

I've been wearing the Fly London MOL 2 boots for around ten years. So far, I've worn through two pairs of black boots and this is my second pair of brown boots. I pretty much wear them from September to April every year, every day. My last pair of brown boots (exactly the same as these) lasted me six years. They're excellent quality, well structured, comfortable and durable. I walk a minimum of four miles a day in these boots so the soles take a hammering without any issues. I do swap out the insoles after around 18 months or two years depending on how they're feeling. These boots are totally worth the investment. The only reason why I've given these four stars is because the calf width seems slightly narrower than previous pairs, even when loosened. I wear my boots with jeans so need to allow for this, and I don't feel that my calves are particularly big. I am able to do them up and I'm hoping the leather will give over time.I have bought other boots in the past for half the price and they were a total waste of money, falling apart after six months. It's false economy and I have learnt my lesson! Highly recommended.

Due to the demise, after 6 years of heavy wear, of my fave DM boots, I have been searching for ages for a decent replacement as the style of DM I had are no longer made :(. I spotted these in a high street store and thought; Yep, I love 'em! but a bit expensive so thought I'd check out Amazon first............Wow! what a price difference! However, have to say the reviews kind of put me off a bit so I thought I'd just look at the most recent ones. Thanks guys, I am now the very proud owner of these really lush boots! Anyone who's thinking of buying them and has concerns re the comments about leaking - The boots do come with a little card that says; Due to the unique construction & natural material used in this product, although splash proof & reasonably water resistant in moderate weather, it is possible that water seepage can occur in adverse conditions in line with most other footwear. Apart from my wellies and walking boots I think this is true of all my other footwear. Would recommend to those with slim calves as they are snug.

I placed my order on Friday, these arrived on Monday in excellent condition. I bought dark drown and they are the colour of bitter dark chocolate- the darkest brown I have ever seen for boots. The price on amazon was amazing - £135 in the shops, £81 on here with the 10% discount. Very comfortable so far, but a bit hard to get the bridge of my foot into the first couple of times. By adjusting the buckle to the largest setting my 14" calfs fit just fine, but this really is at the maximum. With a leather stretcher spray I think you could maybe get an extra 1-2cm as the leather is so soft, but to stretch it by more than that might leave stretchmarks on the leather itself as the leather feels quite delicate in this respect.I'm definately going to listen to other reviewers and spray these boots thoroughly with water repellent before even stepping foot out of the house. For the price, comfort, and such a classic design from such a well known brand, I think these are a great buy!

Having read the reviews for this boot and noticed that slim calves were mentioned frequently, I decided to give them a try as my calves are approx. 30 cm. and almost impossible to find knee high boots to fit snuggly. HOORAY ! I am over the moon with them. They fit beautifully all the way up to my knees and in fact give a bit more width to my rather skinny legs - BRILLIANT.To add to my delight, I am slightly disabled and need a stick or for further distances use a three wheel walker so, to find boots so easy to put on and with such flexibility, plus the good grip the sole provides, what more could I want ?.Needless to say - I LOVE THEM - and at the price I paid I am absolutely ecstatic and willprobably buy another pair when the price is right again.I would recommend these boots to anyone and do not worry about any ingress of water - just proof them thoroughly before use - easy.

I love these boots! This is my 3rd pair of Mol boots over the last 8 years. They last so long and are hard wearing. I love that I can wear them with jeans or dresses, they are smart but comfortable. I love the new improved sole on these, making them a bit chunkier. My old ones were still going strong but the soles had worn down at the front and they had started letting in water when out and about in wet weather. The fit is very snug and I’m between a size 5 and 6. However I get the 5 as they do loosen up over time and this would make a size 6 far too loose. I do think they are a slightly tighter fit in the leg and I have very slim legs, so maybe factor that in if you are thinking of purchasing. Also a great price as in the Fly store these were £55 more expensive! They arrived on time, packaged in the original Fly box, in pristine condition. Perfect.

I was so excited to receive these boots two days after ordering them. I have purchased 3 other pairs of Fly boots in the past, all of them slightly shorter than these ones. As my very first pair of Fly boots have finally died, I thought I'd replace with these, slightly longer ones. My excitement was first quashed as I first tried to cram my foot into the boot (I have wide feet so this is a regular occurrence). Hope flared as my foot slid in; snug but manageable. Then came the zip up the leg.....hmmmm. Although I am definitely not skinny and do have a decent pair of calf muscles, this is the first time ever that I have not managed to get a pair of boots done up over my calf.Even undoing the buckle didn't help enough. With much sadness they are being returned and I am going back to the shorter style. Hope you have better luck (or thinner calves!)

I love Fly London because they are the only boots that fit my skinny legs!! I have some high wedge ones which have lasted me about three years and they're still great, I just wanted some flatter ones as they can be a bit uncomfortable walking down hills.I hate boots that flap about on my legs so these are perfect. Please bare in mind I have really skinny legs and size 5 shoe. I struggled to squeeze my feet into these boots and had to give them a really good push. It was easier to take them off. So I can imagine that these would be very tight on ladies with regular size legs/ankles! But I'm happy with them. Also they are called 'grey' but they're really brown. But you can kind of tell that from the picture anyway. They smell incredible too - that yummy leather shop smell! Worth every penny, I'm more than happy to pay lot's for decent boots.

Glad I found these! I'd spent a couple of months buying different boots - including some other Fly London ones - and sending them back. I think I've got pretty standard size 5 feet but I do have to wear quite a chunky insole in them otherwise my feet are sliding around (the size 4 was too tight). The positive of this is that I think it makes them cosier with an insole. They are lovely and warm. I have used dubin on the leather to help waterproof it (it did initially seem to reduce the shine of the leather but once it had fully soaked in after a couple of days the sheen was back). They are versatile to wear with tights and leggings and go underneath with wider legged trousers. They're not a dainty boot, they have quite a clumpy feel to them and I do hear the leather squeak a bit as I walk around in work! Overall I'm very pleased with them.
