I played the original games on the atari St and snes and can safely say this game is an improvement on them. This is not me talking from a nostalgia point of view either. After I got this version I looked for and found ROMs online of the old games and gave them a shot. The controls of the new game are much smoother and the graphics stay true to the originals but are a vast improvement at the same time.I don't know what people that 1 star this game were expecting when they bought it? It's obviously not going to be the same as FIFA or PES...1 button controls everything in this game. And why complain about this when it's an actual feature of the game? Most people playing FIFA moan that the controls are terrible anyway.Enough ranting and rambling from me. I like the game, it makes me laugh so hard when playing it. For that reason I feel it's difficult to get annoyed at a game that is so simple. The totally made up names of the players is one of my favourite parts of the game. Bashing in goals with Thamus Mäller and Zletan Ibramovic makes it all the more enjoyable.

This game is hard to play. It requires practice. It requires you to relax witrh the controller. You get to play some very bad gamers, as these days they are used to games that are way too easy. It is NOT a football game, more a football themed game more akin to Rocket League, but in 2D or put it another way a fast paced arcade game, like Asteroids. This game is utterly brilliant, the only reason I do not give it 5 stars is that it is currently being updated. You can actually watch Dino Dini develop the game during the week day on Twitch! He is opena nd honest and will answer questions and even play you. I bought the game as I played it in 1990 when it first appeared. As I write this,I am ranked 3rd in the world. The ranking system is well balanced and makes you want to return. There are some bad reviews of this game, there are some good. Many people are used to the triple A graphics that games are shrouded in these days. For me, it is all about fun and gameplay, this has it in abundance. Updates are coming free of charge. Cards, refs etc. Fantastic!

As someone who never writes reviews I feel I have to leave one for this game to counteract the poor feedback. Playing This game is like stepping into a time machine. There are some modern touches but despite that it still manages to retain the style and most importantly the playability that made its predecessors my favourite series of games back in the 90s. This is a refreshing break from the modern footy games in that it puts its emphasis less on graphics and more on fun and (that word again) playability. You don't spend money buying better players or teams - The more you practise the better you get.In short the game has some flaws which will be addressed with patches over the coming months but it is absolutely brilliant and well worth the purchase price.Well done Dino and thank you for transporting me back to my childhood

Like others, played KO, KO2, Player Manager, Goal, SWOS back in the day with my brother so was obviously eager to play this.Yes it has been rush released to tie in with Euro16 and is a bit buggy (although in a fun way - I fouled myself and got a free kick just outside the box). It's not as intuitive as old KO and takes a bit of time to learn the basics but after an hour or so you start to get the hang of it. There are some playing guides on Dino Dini's Twitter which help as well. There will be regular upgrades to get rid of the bugs and increase the gameplay so this will only get better. If you only play it for 5 minutes it does feel like a 1 star game but keep going and you'll get there.UPDATE - a week later and more practice. It plays like a cross between KO2 and Goal. Looking forward to the next update shortly.

I didn't play the PS4 version yet but I will get the game and the PS4 only because of Dino Dini. For you all to remember: we were quite a few descent Kick Off 1/player manager players when Kick Off 2 came out. It took us weeks - yes weeks - to score the first deliberate goal. From frustration in the first weeks like learning an instrument or a new language we got better and better. Finally we established tournaments and a league as the game was a real football game and not as FIFA a game were the ball sticks to your foot whatever you do.I remember a few years ago we went to the tournament and I had the chance to play the then current world champion from Italy. He was so skilled!I hope the new game can build up a community like this and I will try to be part of it!

Finally a remake of the classic game that works and works well. Too many have have tried to copy and replicate the control method with no joy. Don't expect FIFA or PES controls as nothing is simulated. Its a good old classic top down arcade soccer game with oodles of fun and online gameplay. Passing is difficult but can be achieved, its not a 5 min game and store in your drawer as per most big titles. This game has you staying up all night, just having one more game.I am reading updates are coming and the designer is communicating with his audience to add what people are requesting. A++++++Highly recommended

At this stage in early July, this isn't the final product. Patches are due soon to improve the whole experience. This demands learning. You cannot sit down with it for 10 minutes and hope to play a good game of football, it rewards the patient. Stick with it and there's a deep gaming mechanic just waiting to be exploited.Graphically it's acceptable, along with the sound. Again don't expect 10 minutes and you're blown away.Dino is a true legend and this game deserves to be given a chance unlike the mainstream press are doing. It's a bargain price and with the forthcoming patches it will shine.

If you loved Kick Off 2 back in the day, you will love this. It's plays very similar to the previous game. There are a few small changes. Controls are excellent and work really well with the thumb stick. It does take a fee games to get used to, but as soon as it clicks, and it does, you'll love it. Yes, it has a few bugs and yes is a little short on options / game modes. But Dino Dini is working on these and has promised regular updates. If you loved Kick Off 2 you really cannot go wrong with this, especially at the bargain price. And it has online play.

Bought this over the weekend for me and my son (he's 8) and we loved it!I used to play this and sensible soccer many moons ago so when I stumbled across it I got a tad excited to say the least : )It didn't disappoint, there seem to be some negative reviews on here but it is what it is!... if you wanted a game like FIFA then buy FIFAbut if you want to share a bit of nostalgia and FUN! with you friends and family then grab it with both hands, at £14 squid its a keeper. ; )

For the first half hour I struggled to keep hold of the ball but after a while you Learn how to control the ball with trapping and playing the ball into open space but you need to be willing to work for it but this game lets you adapt your own play style and each goal feels unique and there's a great gaming community called the kormunity who organise tournaments and a goal of the month contest 10/10

Having played Kick Off on the old Atari ST I was looking forward to playing it on the PS4. It will take awhile to get used to it again I am used to PES & FIFA on PS4 I played Kick Off Revival for an hour I Slowly got back into it still a great game and it just takes time to get into.

Hated it, lack of options and the silly out of play yellow markers but as soon as i scored my first goal i really started to love it.Yes, it is only one button - but what a button! And 2 player is the shizzle.

Just like the games from the old Kick Off series. Yeah it will take you a couple of hours to get the feel of the game. But well worth investing your time in the game.

Great Fun - controls can be fiddly to start with but a good laugh with plenty of fouls - Roll on Player Manager
