When I heard that thee would be a sequel to one of my all time favourite games I was highly sceptical as to what the developers might do to the original that might ruin the legacy.I have not been disappointed. This game graphically is stunning, the action is smooth and the character movements are flawless. Before I rave on about this game though, there are one or two points that have to be made as not to lure all you gamers out there.Mostly the main problem with this game is the camera angles. Unlike a game such as Jax And Daxter or Zelda where one can flip the camera around to see wherever you want, this is unfortunately not possible in DMC2. Which at points makes the game very difficult to play. For instance when fighting one of the bosses on top of a building the camera angle means that you cannot see the rockets (or four)that are being fired at you. So the whole point of having an evade button is made obsolete. Also the fighting system which is, don’t get me wrong, good there is not that much control over which enemy you are fighting. R1 should allow you to target different enemies but actually just targets the nearest. This can make it a little frustrating when you want to take different types of enemies apart at different times.Staying with that theme there is a scoring system of how well your combos are coming of which appears to be based loosely on the Lord of the Rings T2T system. Where you build it up on a meter and the more enemies that you kill the more points you get for killing each one. This may mean that despite taking apart an enemy in a visually delightful display the computer tells you “Don’t Worry”Not enough different types of enemiesDante is incredibly well animated from his guns, Ebony and Ivory, right through to his swirling cape. The moves that you can do with him are enough to make you shiver. From jumping of walls to running up them and even jumping over the edge of a cliff to just double jump back. The best thing about this game is the ability to shoot two people at the same time. So whilst beating on one enemy if another sneaks up a crafty push in his direction means Dante will either reach round the back of his head or spread his arms to 180 in order to shoot them. If there is a gripe to have here it has to be the lack of good combos with the sword. Ok they can be good but there is no teaching system of how to pull them off, maybe not enough good ones though. Also his Devil Mode is awesome where you gain different stones which allow you to do different things. It is just like the first DMC or Bloody Roar1,2 or 3Lucia is Dante’s sidekick and has her own separate disc with its own fairly weak storyline although this game really doesn’t need one. She has a different style of fighting and uses knives instead of guns which, for me, is a little weak. Although she is well animated as well there is not the same kind of enjoyment as with Dante.. All together I think this game is stunning and even though it has a few bits that I would liked to have changed it is another awesome effort for the 2.Lastability- two discs about 15 hours eachGraphics – Superb, somewhat like MGS2 but smootherGameplay – Fast and Furious, awesome weapons,Soundtrack – Little bit repetitive and times but not really noticeable89%

This is a good follow-up to a great game. However, it does fall down in places. The addition of a second character (Lucia) was a good idea. It means you can follow both Dante and Lucia in their mission to stop the evil Arius. Unfortunatly, the missions for each character don't differ enough. It seemed that I was doing the same mission again. The graphics and environments really are a great improvement. So is the fighting. You can target two enemies at the same time with your handguns, which is very good in a tight spot. Unfortunatly, with the new targeting system you can only target enemies that are directly infront of you. Which isn't good if there's something getting a little to close behind you.The upgrade screen is good. You can now use your red orbs to upgrade your swords, and firearms, as well as buy items. This is a good addition, as it means you can now make short work of your foes. The downside is that you need to collect a lot of orbs before you can upgrade or buy anything. This makes it a little frustrating, as you nearly have enough to upgrade your sword, but then find you need another yellow orb. Which takes away your hope of a weapon upgrade.Dante's costume has also had a stylish makeover. He now wears a fitted trenchcoat, buttened up with cool buckles on the collar. Actually, his costume looks a little like Neo's in The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions. His charcter is now more of a mercenary than a hero, and is less witty than in the first game. He's slightly more of a guy that lets a toss of a coin decide weather he'll fight or not. If he has to, then he doesn't seem to care about it. Unlike the first game, where every enemy was in his way, and he WAS and HAD to get rid of them. This really is a good game. It's a very worthy sequel to a mighty game. Though where improvements have been made, there are also some sacrifices. Fans of the original will enjoy this less than the first, but enjoy it all the same. Those that have never played the first game may find this a little dissapointing. If this is you, then you should either buy the origianl aswell as this, or settle for the original for now, then get this later.

Lets just start off by saying that the original DMC is, hands down, one of my favourite video games ever, ever, EVER! words cannot describe how much i love itNow, because i'm a completist and i want to play them in sequence i bought this so i could get through it and move on to DMC3. i'd heard all the bad reviews a million times over and as such i wasn't expecting to like this. but when i actually got into playing it i fell in love with this one too. ok it is not as good or as inivative as the first, but its still an excellent game worthy of playAlso, more importantly, its different...The graphics are alot better, and Dante looks stunning. second, the game has a more cinemaic feel with more cutscenes and chase sequences (the battle against the helicopter is simply awesome). Third, Dante has a whole host of new moves and a great new dodge button that lets you cartwheel, backflip and even run up walls. The combo system is alot harder to work in this game, but nonetheless the action is still addictive and the sword/gun combos just as great. Dante can even shoot in two direction if you position him correctly. the game on the whole is just alot faster and smoother. the enviroments have changed from the gothic, claustraphobic rooms of DMC to a more open, dark city scape reminiscent of the Matrix. this gives the game a fresh feelthere are a few downers. for one when tackling airborne enemies you'll spend half the time blasting outside the screen hoping to hit them. the auto aim feature is lacking too. Sadly, the bosses don't seem to have the awe factor they did in the first game, although there is alot more of themi know that everyone has made up their minds that DMC2 sucks and i'm not trying to convert anyone but i would say that i had a really fun time playing the game. those who haven't played it yet, approach it with an open mind and you may just find a gem. if you played it and didn't like it then maybe it deserves another spin in your ps2i just don't see what all the fuss is about

Well one thing is sure if you like Devil may cry, You defitnly like this one. This one has even more action, better graphics, better story, better music and more stunning moves. This is a real must have. You all know the story of devil may cry 1 right Dante the hero half demon half human, fighting against the demons like his father. Well he is back and harder then ever, but let's cut the introduction. The graphics are truly stunning and it's pushing your console to the limit, not that you notice during the game or something. Sound quality is absolutly amazing, just turn up the sound and play this game you will be amazed. About the story I could say it could use some more depth but who cares?Just put your mind to zero and blow those demons away. There are tons of things to unlock but the number of missions has been brought down to 19 now. But the missions are huge so don't worry on that part you will have at least 20 hours of play I'd say.Ofcourse I would not give 4 stars instead of 5 if the game was perfect so let's put the minusses on a row.Bad guys the demons like always lack of motivation, I think game developers should finnaly know evil creatures who wan't to destroy the world isn't good enouch. But ofcourse in this game who cares?I find the replay value overall in the game lacking, you can upgrade your things wich gives you an RPG feeling. Also there are a characters to unlock, but the game is lineair as hell, appart from these things the replay value is low. When I ended the game I tried to push myself to end it with other characters as well, but could not bring myself to it cause you know how it ends and how the maps are. And some of the deamons just make no sense like the first partConclusion:This game is most definetly worth a try rent it if you have your doubts. If you liked DMC1 better start clicking some buttons so you order it. If you like graphics and action you should do the same, but if you are not convinced rent it first. I'd say it is worth every cent.

Before i bought this game I had read loads of reviews of it and most of them had been really negative and ripped the game to pieces. Being an owner of the first DMC, which in its own rights was a masterpiece, I wanted to see for myself what these reviewers were getting at. And how wrong were they?! This game is absolutely amazing. There are so many good aspects of DMC2 which those insatiable reviewers have ignored. The graphics for instance are spectacular; the variety of gothic environments is great; the fact that you can turn into a number of various ultra cool devil forms is.. er.. ultra cool, and the smoothness of the character animation is delicious - as are the moves the characters can pull off: Dante can backflip, frontflip, cartwheel, run up walls, fire his guns in multiple directions, quickly switch from one gun to another whilst somersaulting mid-air, frantically firing magic bullets at an unfortunate target who ain't gonna be living much longer... and more. The monsters are really cool too. The variety of creatures and bosses gives a bonus to the playabilty of DMC2.What is also great about this game is when you play it as Dante and you're really getting into it, and then you complete it, drop your controller and relax, rest your aching fingers, thinking 'Wow. That was amazing' then you realise there's a second disc where you can play another 10 or so levels with a another character! My overall verict of this game is 9 on a scale of 1-10. Had there been any real storyline at all, let alone a good one, this game could have gained that extra point. But as it is, DMC 2 is a fine piece of art, a must have for action lovers. And yes, the Devil may cry over the greatness of this game.

This game is not as good as the first but it has quite a lot of different things in it. You can run up walls in this one, you can throw bombs ontop of enemies (Lucia game), which can be a quick way to get orbs in the bloody palace. speaking of which, the bloody palace is also a new addition to the game which i find myself in most. you can go as long as you want and collect loads of orbs. There is a second character in this that you can play called lucia, who is quite weak and gets her ass handed to her if you are not careful but she has some really cool things to offer. Personaly i found throwing a bomb in ememies faces to be quite satisfying. This game is not a challange, anyone will fly through it on a normal level. The bad guys seem to be quite dumb and just take it most of the time (what was with the tanks and hellicopter bit?).If you get to the harder settings they throw off this kind of steam from them and when that happens you will not be able to push them around like you used to...its like their own devil trigger. Then they will kill you lol.its no where near as good as the first but like i said before it just brings new things to the game to play with that i really enjoyed. i love the bloody palace. the bosses are ok, though they are super easy to kill this time around. be mindful of the triface tho (Lv16), they are nasty and dont give you much chance to do anything but dodge on a continual basis. Save the game after you kill this foe.i will always have this game in my collection. its just mindless violent fun. just dont expect anything as amazing as the first game and you will be grand.

The only downfall of this game compared to the orginal is it is slightly short and abit to easy to complete bosses at time for example your proberly expecting a well hard end boss that you will have to keep battling over and over again. How ever I think I only died once and it was well to easy compared to what i was thinking. The only other bad point is that the storyline isn't as good as the first one and the cut scenes are mostly action instead of talking. Now Lets Get to the good Parts Dante has got some wicked new moves he can walk up walls; shoot demons upside down he can jump much higher now and his devil trigger is well cool. The cut scenes are amazing graphicaly speeking and acion packed,it truly is amazing. Also with the lucia disk and the new costumes you get when you complete the game you will want to play it over and over again.Lucia - Lucia is a very strange character, similar to the orginal trish but not quite the biker chick that we orginaly loved. She also comes with her own devil trigger and shes got some wicked moves, just the same as dante she can also walk up walls and jump just as good. The music is very similar to the orginal but alot better and the scenary is far more advanced than the orginal. You can jump on roofs and all sorts. If you are a fan of the orginal this is amazing game to get.Just forget about the things that could be there and enjoy the new action and moves.Lucias disk can be played at any time you don't have to complete the dante disk first.

I was one of the people who preordered Devil May Cry 2 expecting a game with the power to feel as cool as it looked on the videos shown in various magazines. I was not dissapointed. So when it came to my house i ripped off the packing zoomed straight to my PS2 and slotted in the disc. From the very start it was cool, first it had a sign saying "Warning: this game contains scenes of explicit gore and violence" thenn you here a gunshot and the screen splinters then the camera zooms up on Dante with his guns pointed at the screen then he shoots them and two bullet holes appear on screen. and it goes white a sign reading "CAPCOM presents" appears and you are then treated to a short video clip. Then you start the game.It starts with an FMV explaining a few things you already know if you've played the first game. then you start playing. The controls are easy to master and even the most complicated looking move can be easily mastered eg. Run up walll's, press O in front of a wall, shoot upside down, double jump and at the top of the jump when Dante flips over press Square to fire.As well as playing as Dante their is the new playable character, Lucia, her missions are much easier than Dantes and her throwing daggers are stronger than Dante's handguns so she is ideal for beginners. Most of her moves are based on either martial arts or her two deadly blades.

Having played Devil May Cry, and finished it many times, I eagerly anticipated the sequel. At first I was impressed by it's better graphics and the many extra moves. However, the games creators seem to have made these improvements by sacrificing some important aspects of the game. The first thing that caught my attention was the control system, to allow all the extra moves it has been altered significantly. Unfortunately this means that to look at an object is the same button as to run the wall. This means everytime you go to open a door you end up running up it three times before it opens.Another downfall, is the storyline, although it starts strongly it fails to reach its potential and falls well short of the script of the first game. The FMV's are also not as awe-inspiring as the first game, yet this is probably because the story gives them little to work with. However, this is a great game and for the uninitiated is definitely worth a purchase. Even if you’re a hardened Devil May Cry fan the game is superb, just don't let the hype deceive you. Devil May Cry 2 is a great Action/Adventure game, but I doubt it will ever reach the cult status of its predecessor.

The first DMC game was incredible and in its own way is better than the sequel (as most games are) but that doesnt stop the second DMC game because this second game is very different mainly because of the storyline. Story aside, this second game deserves all credibility for making Dante an even more stylish demon slayer, and with the new wall climbing and improved gunplay Dante is better than ever and the graphic surroundings of each mission are top notch. The only disappointing aspect is that the Ifrit and alaistor is no where to be seen (and used for that matter) and an amulet combination is given although its good it does not have the same smooth control that the first game had. Also the game is a bit short because the first game had 24 missions and it took me a while to get through it,but this second game has 18 missions (32 altogether including lucias missions). That aside, this game is pure genious and a good soundtrack. DMC fans wont regret it and its one of those games you just want to play over and over again. Remember as long as you dont compare it to the original, this is brilliant in its own right.Dante RULES!!!

Devil May Cry 2. Dante, the mysterious half-man, half-demon action hero is back to battle the legions of the underworld. Sporting trash-talking attitude and rock star good looks, Dante launches into a new adventure with twice the environments, twice the graphic sizzle and twice the gameplay of the original.Devil May Cry 2, the sequel to the gothic horror classic, features more and bigger environments, including a Gotham-like city and an old European town. There are now two playable characters--allowing you to play as Dante or a brand-new heroine--and Dante is even more stylish and tough than before, having gained plenty of experience fighting demons. The level of animation and visual detail rivals a Hollywood action flick.Devil May Cry 2 also tracks the player's skill level and adjusts the enemy challenge according to how well players perform. Dante now has more moves and attacks plus an enhanced Devil Trigger: once Dante's devil meter is full, he will be able to transform into a demon. This demon form features new visual effects and allows Dante to destroy enemies with one smashing blow.

This game is the coolest to watch. Imagine being half-devil half-human, with twin pistols and a sword. Jumping upside-down and whie inveted offloading a few bullets into the demon beneath you. There's no doubt this is the coolest game you have seen. The graphics are far superior than the last game, and the animation is sharper and more fluid than the original. Also you get to play a new character called Lucia, she is very cool and has twin swords to dispatch demons. The bosses on this look amazing. There's a but coming now, this is a lot easier than the last, in fact too easy, however there are unlockable difficulty modes which extend the life-span. Serious damage has been done to the enemy targeting systems, you can hit an enemy in the air aim your guns and it will shoot another target allowing the enemy to drop to the floor. The length is an issue, seven hours or there abouts to complete Dante's 18 missions and Lucia's 13, which is too short. But all in all this is far superior to any 3rd person action games, but falls short of expectancies of the sequel.

I brought this game just the other day in our new games shop that has just opened in our town and i have tim say i was impressed with the gameplay. However i have to agree with the majority of the other online reviewers that i was baffled as to what the storyline actually was. I havent played the first devil may cry so i cant accurately comment on that, but if you enjoy just beating the hell out of things with guns and a sword then this is the type of game for you. Your never short of enemies to kill on this game which pleased me no end cos i enjoy it and some of the boss's can be quite a challenge especially if like me your new to the game and havent played the first one.The graphics i thought for most of the part were good and would reccomend this game purely on gameplay and having fun but judging from what the other reviewers have said it might be best to try the first one first, if you are considering the second one then rent it first i say!!

I loved the first Devil May Cry, and i thought that this may just have been a re-hash of the original...but no...this is quite simply the most amazingly fun game that ive EVER played.Dante's acrobatic fighting style has been taken to a new level, flips, rolls, running up walls and the obligatory duel handguns aireal attacks make this game non-stop blasting fun from start to finish. This, mixed with some very interesting enemies such as Demon Tanks & living buildings make this game feel so original. Add to that amazing landscapes & graphics and stunning FMV sequences that will take your breath away. The only problem with this game is the standard Devil May Cry camera angles that mean that youcan't always see the enemy that you are fighting.

A good game, a bit short but v. v. cool full of classy moments. Some of Dante and Lucia's abilitys are stupidly unrealistic but great fun like changing into devil mode and becoming faster stronger and pulling of tricks such as electrocuting enemies and slowing down time. Another good point of this game is that there are two disks each with a seperate game on it. The best thing about this game is easily the boss battles where you battle with evil super villains determined to eradicate you with a number of outrageous attacks. My personal favourite is the building that becomes a giant monster. If you played the first game and liked that this is more of the same, a lot more woth added attacks and new enemies.Highly recommended.
