After being blown away with the fantastic Devil May Cry 3 (which I still play), this special edition version is just that more special as it allows you to play through Dante's missions as his evil brother Vergil. You know the one thing I asked myself: it's a shame that although in DMC 3 we had a vergil costume it was basically Dante with the same moves. This is why I feel Capcom must have being listening and decided to release a special edition that will appeal to all true DMC fans and even those are not fans.So whats different about this special edition, Plenty!! We finally get to play as Dante's brother Vergil who despite only having the Intro cutscene is fantastic to play with.Vergil has only one style though the dark slayer style but just like Dante his moves can be updated by gathering red orbs to purchase new actions. You will notice the difference: Dante practically starts the game with limited moves, whereas Vergil has three types of devil arms available straight away and check this, he can also devil trigger. Still though I prefer Dante. Also, you finally get the chance to whip that annoying clown Jester and amazingly hes not that difficult either (but then again I haven't got up to Must Die mode yet). Other notable changes is a selection of the new Yellow and Gold orb continue system. The yellow orb is basically the same procedure with the first and third DMC games, if you lose or die within the mission, you start back at the nearest checkpoint, whereas the gold orb system (taken from DMC 2) allows you to continue directly from where you died, so for instance if your facing a boss and die you can resurrect instantly and carry on fighting. The gold orb system would probably suit casual gamers as it is more of a life saver really but true devil may cry fans (such as me) would prefer the original and more difficult yellow orb continue system. Whichever way you look at it, both is great in its way. There is also a new option to speed up the gameplay by 20% just imagine a million stab move in this crazy mode!!! Also not forgetting, there is the Bloody Palace mode (last seen in DMC 2) this is just an excuse to play through as many enemy levels as possible kind of like a Survival mode. In addition theres the usual gallery, artwork and video clips to be unlocked. So there you have it!! Its basically DMC 3 with vergil!! Some may feel disappointed that Vergil doesn't have his own cutscenes (apart from the intro) as this would have helped the story go further, but to me it doesn't matter as the gameplay is far more important and trust me this game wont disappoint on that merit. If you liked DMC 3 you will LOVE this too!!!Now then, Capcom roll on Devil May Cry 4 for the future Playstation 3.

This game just rocks. I have played this again and again, given myself sore fingers and disturbed my neighbours with my shrieks of pain and joy* (*delete as appropriate). It looks good, sounds even better and with the style system you can't get away with just bashing the X button for 20 levels. You have to defeat your enemies with class - and you have to figure out the best style and tactics to do so otherwise you'll be seeing the game over screen a lot. The cut scenes are wonderfully atmospheric, develop the story and don't go on so long as to slow the pace. This is not just another random run and beat 'em up.This game is extremely difficult if you decide to venture into the hard levels - but the challenge is there and when you defeat a boss and finish a level the feeling of satisfaction is immense. In the SE, you get to play as Vergil, Dantes superpowerful twin brother. The fact that he is so powerful takes some of the challenge out of his game, but hey, it's all good. The reply value is excellent - you will play this more than once, trying out the different levels and enemies with different styles, weapons and tactics, and each run through is as good as the first. This game is a must buy and I can't wait for the next installment on the PS3.

This game has to be the most kickass game on PS2, well thats what i think anyway. You play as Dante, how is half human, half demon and has enough cheesy one-liners to shake a stick at. This special edition is mostly the same as the normal version, but has some cool extras, like 'bloody place'. This is a litte extra away from the main story in which, in each level you fight a differnt wave of demons n' stuff, but there is 9999 levels to it. The levels get harder as you go on, so it can get rather intense when your higher up. And another extra is being able to play as your evil twin brother vergil. But this for me was a bit of a let down, as the amount of techniques he can use is a bit limited,so he can be a bit boring after a little while..... one more thing if you get this game after buying the normal number 3, you will have to do the story all again as you can't transfer save data, but that didn't bother meBut on a whole,it is an amazing game....

Capcom no when to create a good game, like dead rising or lost planet or even resident evil 4, so you know what your getting with devil may cry, the third in the series: devil may cry 3 thunders onto the PS2 in tremending arcade style fashion.Arcade style/third person is greatly mixed, with fast paced action, and tremendous graphics this game is a hit, but why only 4**** stars? what's wrong with it? Well they havnt done much to the gameplay nor giving you anything else to do the storyline gets stuck half way, but then again that's capcom, capcom know there stuff the game is still entertaining it's still a instant classic but hey capcom when you release Devil May Cry 4 do something new.****

What can I say that hasn't already BEEN said? This game follows the story of Dante, the hero from Devil May Cry, and this is a prequel to the game where you are playing his younger self. Dante himself is an awesome character with 6 fighting styles to choose from and a large array of weapons you can change at lightning speeds...However, Vergil, included only in the Special Edition is a VERY nice addition. MOST of the moves you see him doing in Dantes boss fights with him are present, plus more weapons...The level of fun in this game is unmatched and for anyone who has played God of War, this game series is the one that inspired it, and many other titles like it!MUST-HAVE!

The first big thing about this remake is that you get to play as Vergil. Dante's slightly less friendly brother. And in all honesty playing as him is... a big let down. With only 3 swords 1 style and 1 'gun' Vergil is pretty boring. Other new features include a survival mode where you have to fight through 9999 waves of monsters.I bought this game because my original version of DMC3 snapped in half but i wouldn't advise buying the special version if you've already got the original. But for those who have not played DMC3 yet in any form this is definately better than the original

The game's awesome, great and challenging. I love playing the game most of the time. Especially since it lets you play Vergil too along with our all time favourite Dante. The only cons of this game that I experienced is that sometimes it takes the mick and if you're a short-tempered person, believe me you'll either end up shrieking your lungs out to the world, make your fingers become frail and sore or most likely break your controller (like me - I had to buy a new one during mission 8). This is one of those hardcore games for the best players.

The Special Edition of Devil May Cry 3 is easier to complete then the original version as Capcom had to many gamers say they found it to hard. Myself be a gamer for over 20 years was able to complete both versions and I must say, that I found a game called Maximo by Capcom as well to be harder. Anyway alongside the 1st Devil May Cry game, God Of War 1 & 2, Resident Evil 4 and Onimusha 3 this is one of the best action adventure games money can buy for the PS2. The graphics, sound and level design are all of the highest standards.

I cant believe how amazing this game is! My friend bought DMC 1,2 and 3, i saw them and thought, yeah, its ok, whatever. Then i bought THIS! the missions for Dantes brother, Vergil, are basically the same as Dantes, but with more weapons, and less funny moves (riding enemy's like Dante is the kind of thing Vergil dont do, along with pole dancing.) I definetly recomend this game!

This game is a visual tour de force, it's amazing, it's heartpounding, it's intense... This is basically the highlight of the Devil May Cry franchise. If you like great hack n slash games this will be right up your alley.
