The Good:To say coffee is perfect, is an understatement. Since this is my first bean-to-cup machine, I cannot say if it is thanks to this particular machine unfortunately. Nevertheless, instant and pre-ground just do not do it for me anymore. I like my coffee black, and its like discovering coffee taste all over again. I do not drink white coffee, but my mom who always drank instant, has been converted in just one day.I can also say that, as long as I am concerned, it is as easy to use as it could be. Do not expect miracles, you have to empty drip tray, grounds container, refill water rather often, and clean milk froth each use. On top of that, you need to descale your machine from time to time. All of that is to be expected in any maker like this. So its not really easy like pouring some hot water over instant granules, but not rocket science neither. Removing and cleaning diffuser is also easy.Consider to do some tinkering. I changed water temperature to maximum (Its not boiling hot, but enough for me) and ground setting to 3.5. Your experience may vary, but this is what I find most satisfactory. The Bad:Removing water tank, without removing the drip tray causes scratches on the metal plate. I think that is a design flaw. You could in theory keep removing drip tray every time you refill water, but water tends to run out more often that the drip tray needs to be emptied. Also it appears that machine has no sensor in the grounds container, and it just keeps count of how many times grounds have been disposed. So if you do not empty container every time you remove the tray, you risk overfilling. The Ugly:Now the real problem. Machine has a descale light, that comes up every time it needs to be descaled. It asked to be descaled twice already, even though I had it for three weeks only. I am in the middle of my second 1kg coffee bag, and while I had not used De'longhi softener, I always poured Brita filtered water in the machine. I contacted the help line and it appears that machine has a water hardness setting, factory set to default level 4 (hardest).Again, the maker has no sensor, and it just keeps track of how many litres of water has been used. That is not necessarily a bad thing, sensors tend to malfunction after some time. Keep in mind, that you need to use expensive De'Longhi Eco-Decalk, or you may lose warranty. Crazy thing is that water hardness setting can be changed, but the manual will not tell you that.Even the nice lady I spoke with has been surprised that my manual does not mention it. She sent me another revision of the manual and voila, machine used to come with water hardness test and instructions how to change the setting. I changed the setting and the warning light (descale) is gone for now. Now I know how important it is to keep limescale off the equipment, but I refuse to spend £15 a month for descalers. Also it seems that the instructions to change water hardness setting has been removed on purpose to generate more income from after sales. I do not like to be tricked like that.Verdict:De'Longhi - you make the best home coffee makers, do not tarnish your brand with shady tactics.

This is a fantastic value bean to cup coffee machine. For years I've had a manual delonghi machine, and ground my own beans to use in it. It made great coffee, but I only ever had time to make it at the weekend. This machine, once dialed in, produces coffee just as good, and is so much easier/quicker to use.I now happily have a flat white every morning. It takes a few coffees to get it dialled in. First of all, as with all new machines, it takes a few runs to "run it in", coating and cleaning all the elements inside. Following that, I adjusted the strength and grind. You are also able to adjust the temperature and shot size, but I found these perfectly fine. I get rich, hot espresso shots with a thick crema -- perfect. The Panarello milk frother is different than I'm used to, but objectively it is easier to get rich microbubbles for a latte or flat white. Some other reviews complain about temperature... best to use a thermometer when steaming milk and steam until it reaches 65 degrees C... for me, that gives a perfect flat white as good as any coffee shop. The chute for ground coffee is convenient for drinking decaf in the evening, but you have to remember to adjust the wheel on the front to use the pre-ground coffee, which is easy to forget and irritating as we have it set to the strength we like for normal beans. If you do forget, you'll eventually realise when you're awake all night. The machine is easy to clean and look after.

I can't recommend this coffee machine highly enough. The coffee is super. Fantastic crema and really nice milk froth for cappuccino and latte. It takes a few goes to get the coffee strength to personal preference but after that it's set to go. Overall a great coffee, close your eyes and you'll be in any one of the great coffee houses in the world. Some points to note;1) You can make espresso, latte and cappuccino with this machine. You can even create the latte art designs on the latte. Saw this in a demo for this machine on the internet.2) The coffee nozzles are retractable so most sized cups can be placed underneath.3)The coffee temperature can be set to any of 4 different heat levels and alongside the hot water tap to heat the coffee cup and the coffee cup shelf you are guaranteed a hot coffee if this is your preference.4) You can also set the machine to turn off automatically after use from 15mins to 3 hours.5) The Instruction manual came with a water hardness paper indicator and any one of the four water hardness levels can be set accordingly. The softer the water the less frequent a descaler needs to be used.

Bought as a Christmas present for my partner at significantly under the price it was being sold for in local stores. The product was delivered on time and in full working order but did have a picture of a coffee machine on the outer box... no Christmas surprise for him this year!!We use the machine every day, he loved the initial setup where you get to play around with the strength of the coffee and cup sizes and I like that lt's just two buttons to press in the morning and the result is a great cup of coffee! The machine looks great in our kitchen (quite small so couldn't devote too much space to coffee) and is really quick to tell you that it's out of beans or water which makes it really easy to use when you stumble out of bed in the morning with one eye open. The coffee tastes great- we use beans with a 4 on the packet and are still experimenting, but we haven't had a bad one yet. Totally recommend it!!

I’ve had my coffee machine Magnifica for a week and finally found a good setting for my taste buds. I do buy the fresh beans and I also mix, just just to experiment so to find my perfect blend. So the machine itself is for me very easy to use and set up. The quality is what you should expect, for the price. It dose a job that it’s supposed to so I had no complaints until I bought some water tank filters, and unfortunately the filters are fairly big so take up water space in the tank which is noticeable when the tank needs filling more regularly, but it’s a small price to pay if you are keeping the machine internally clean and hopefully a longer life of the machine.I’m very pleased whith my decision to buy the Magnifica S and fingers crossed it will last until I get bored and want a more expensive machine.

All good points really:> Slimmer than normal machines so fits nicely in the kitchen> Very quick start up - can be making coffee within about 45 seconds> Quite quiet compared to other models> Love that everything can be accessed from the front without having to swivel the machine around> Good sized water tank> Nice easy to use controls and the ability to set quantities for espresso shots and long coffeesOh actually the only negative is the steam wand for cappuccinos is a little on the weak side. It still froths up, but takes more time than on more expensive models I should imagine. This is my first bean to cup, but i know my brother has a machine twice the price and I really can't tell the difference - this makes great coffee.Just make sure you buy nice coffee and it will do it justice :)

We purchased this to replace the leaking cheaper machine we bought after our original De'Longhi Bean To Cup went kaput. It's quite a simple machine to use - basically, you place coffee beans in the hopper located at the top of the machine and adjust the grinder accordingly. The machine has both one and two cup size settings - one large and one small. There is also a dial which adjusts the strength of the coffee. The water tank can be slid out, but unfortunately it leaves a bit of a groove on the drip tray, which is a shame.I really like the machine, but do wish that De'Longhi would use slightly better metal in their construction. The top coffee bean hopper should also be a bit more airtight to ensure that the beans don't become too exposed between uses.

This coffee machine perfectly suits my expectations, coffee from freshly ground beans at a touch of a button. What I like best is the consistency of the espresso - 'dialled' to taste with the perfect crema. Coffee temperature is not an issue with this machine.I only wish that the water container was bigger. The machine uses water to 'flush' the system before and after the coffee is delivered and usually needs to be topped up almost every other day! For cappuccinos, milk is frothed easily and gives thick foam. All in all, I'm very happy with the product. If you are a coffee lover and don't have the time to grind, measure, tamp, brew etc, this machine will go 'bean to cup'in a matter of minutes.

We have had this machine for nearly 4 years and it has proved excellent value for money, providing us 4 cups per day. We use Sainsbury's Espresso coffee beans and nothing else. The quality of our Cappucino's and Latte's is as good as Costas or Starbucks in our opinion, and has saved us a fortune! It needs Descaling once every few months, as we are in a hard water area and use Delonghi's specific brand. An occasional removal of the internal apparatus (which compresses the ground coffee to a cake for water filtering) is required, as this needs cleaning due to build up of coffee oil. This is an easy task, which is done with the machine turned off.

Having researched similar models on the market I selected this model as being best suited for my needs and am pleased with the result. I always drink expresso and after a few experiments and careful selection of beans, (although you can also use ground coffee too),I am getting very good results, almost as good as coffee dispensed from the best commercial outlets and restaurants, so I am very pleased. It remains to be seen if the machine continues to give good results and I have extended the warranty to 3 years, which is available from Amazon in France but not the UK, so I am optimistic for the future!

We bought this because our old one, same model, was showing signs of needing some "major"-ish attention. We've had it 9 years and use it 10 times a day at least, so very good to have lasted so long.If you want a bean-to-cup coffee machine that basically just makes espresso and has a steam wand, then this is the machine for you. This later version of the model has an ECO setting, on by default, but otherwise is just the same as the old version.Would thoroughly recommend this machine to anyone, does the job well and is damned good value too.

this machine simply makes the best coffee you could wish for at home. easy to use you can adjust it very easily to your own taste.i love the fact you can run a quck cycle that warms the machine up so your coffee is nice and hot and you can adjust the amount of coffee it dispenses to take into account different cup sizes. like other customers mentioned you need to run about 6-8 test runs to get it right for your own taste- but it well worth the effort .the machine is a quality piece of kit and well worth the money

We had the De'Longhi Magnifica ESAM4200 for five years before it developed a fault that meant it ground beans when it should have been delivering pre-ground decaff coffee. It lives on in caffeine only household. This machine is more compact and stylish. It is considerably quieter and the significant design differences mean internally it's a lot less messy. If you shop around, it's not much more than the Magnifica ESAM4200 and well worth the difference.

Amazing. So fast and easy to use. If something happen or missing the machine will flash a light so just need to check and do whatever it's need it. Capuchino never been so easy to do. I'm work in a bar and do a lot of coffees and this machine it's by far the easiest i ever use to have the perfect foam. Also really good that it clean itself everytime you turn on and off. No need it a lot of space and it's really discreet

I’ve used many Bean to cup coffee machines in shared workspaces and the quality has varied wildly, so I was careful to do the research before buying.Overall, it’s a fantastic machine that dispenses coffee of better quality than any of the large chains and on a par with the best independent coffee shops. You could of course spend a few hundred more on a Sage but I doubt you’d see much of a difference.
