I bought this as I love a latte, I also wanted it in cream. As you would expect from smeg it is well made and easy to use once you have read the instructions, you can set your preferred heat setting and how much coffee you want. I would point out you will need to buy jug cups etc. It comes with just coffee measure and the 3 inners 1 cup 2 cup and a pod one. I took a star off for 2 reasons one the milk heater is short trying to get in jug, it just sits in the top making it awkward trying move jug about. Also you can't just blast with steam and wipe the milk nozzle, you really need to pull the ends off and wash 2 min job but the milk sits inside. So on a warm day even an hour later you could have drop of sour milk stuck in tube. When filling ensure when putting the water container back onto machine it actually clicks into place. I thought it was in correctly only to find an hour later a river running along the worktop. Human error not machine fault. Easy to not lock it in fully though. It makes a lovely coffee and every bit as good as more expensive machines, in my opinion far nicer looking though and also far more reasonable price.

First of all let me say that as with all Smeg items this is a great looking piece of kit - I went for the cream version.Filling the water tank is straightforward - take the top off and fill it up. Before doing that press the on button and by the time you’ve got the water tank back in you’ll be ready to go.The machine has two different sized filter holders for depending on how many cups you are making and the strength you desire. Pop the ground coffee in the filter holder using the supplied spoon / tamp and away you go ! I am a fan of Cafe Saula which works well in this machine. You can pre select the amount of water that is dispensed and 3 different heats. There are two buttons which can be Pre-set.The milk frother is very good and does the job perfectly. This part also dispenses hot water if required. The cup warmer on the top is relatively useless but I’m not sure why anybody would be using that anyway! In terms of maintenance, it needs to be de-scaled approximately once every 6-8 weeks which is based on around 25 cups per week so not too labour intensive. All in all I can’t recommend this machine highly enough.

I almost opted for a pod coffee machine as the price difference is huge but I’m so glad I didn’t. I was looking to upgrade from my filter coffee machine that has served me well for many years. I wanted a machine that was quick, that had the option of frothing the milk, that took pods or ground coffee, that was cream and didn’t take up too much space. This ticked every box. I’m yet to try the epods so I can’t comment on those, but it’s so easy to use I probably won’t bother. Yes the price is a little steep, partly to do with it being Smeg, but I think it will pay for itself in time. Having the interest free option with Very has certainly helped. So far I’ve made espressos, Americans, lattes, cappuccinos and hot chocolates all of which have been as nice as a posh coffee shop. It doesn’t give off steam like my old filter machine so can be placed under my wall units. Easy to clean and can be preset to the required mug or cup size. Smeg have thought of everything. All in all a great little machine.

I bought this to replace a Nespresso CitiZ and separate frother that I had been using for the past 3 or 4 years and I am impressed to say the least. Using fresh ground coffee instead of pods makes all the difference to the flavour (although this machine does provide a coffee pod filter if you want that option). This makes better cappuccinos than you will buy in any coffee shop. The integrated frothing nozzle does a brilliant job of making hot, frothy milk as well as acting as a hot water dispenser if you want to turn an espresso into an Americano. The Smeg even allows you to set the temperature of the coffee, which for me is the hotter the better and it has a top warming plate- I like to leave the machine on for a good 15-20 mins to get the cups warm first.Another advantage is that you can make 2 coffees at the same time. So far, the Smeg is worth every penny I paid for it.

This is an easy to use, great looking, fast coffee machine. I've been drinking the same quality coffee made in a cafeteria for the past four years, used the coffee in this machine and the difference is unbelievable. That a machine can change and vastly improve the quality and taste is a miracle. I bought the red one, (It's called Red Dwarf...) it looks great, is fast and simple to use, less than 30 seconds. Press any button, wait till they stop flashing then press for coffee. Simples. Leave the machine, it switches itself off! Water reservoir easy to lift off and refill, all front bits lift out for easy cleaning, different levels for deeper cups etc. It's an attractive, easy to use, efficient machine.I wish I'd bought it years ago! It's also got a sort of smiley face on the drip tray, Well done SMEG.Read full review...

Works perfectly well, but costs far more than others which work just as well. The water reservoir is crap to remove every time you want to fill it - you have to take the lid off (awkward with one hand) then pull hard on the plastic tank, and the reverse to put it all back. The coffee container is hard to empty, even by banging it hard (when the filter is likely to drop into the bin); but that's apparently par for the course - only the old Rowenta Silver Line had a wonderful button which ejected the puck. Otherwise it makes good coffee, heats up in decent time, turns itself off when not in use, and you can dose the amount of water going through the coffee; all things I require in a coffee machine.I don't use the brother or hot water appliance so can't judge it.

Early days, but this seems like and excellent coffee maker.Well made and looks good.Good on Smeg!Excellent pressure for the espresso function and the milk frother makes a good, fine froth that doesn't just dissolve away. There are options for most of the settings, such as temperature and quantity of water pumped through the coffee. No quite sure about the injunction to use the frother from no more than 60 seconds to avoid overheating, but it seems to do the job well inside this time.I bought this machine to replace a large and expensive Kitchen Aid machine that was too big for my new place.First reactions are that at half the price, and half the space, it's better value all round.

The machine is very good quality and looks like it will last a long time, it has great features and makes one of the best coffees I've tried in years but the messing about it took to set it up would test the patience of a saint it is way too complicated however to use it I find it easier to just hold down the button and wait for it to fill my cup rather then setting the fill level as this is just not user friendly function, that said I love this machine it is better than all those pod machines the coffee is great and serves a hot brew something the others don't do and I am happy with my choice of machine as it looks fantastic alongside my other SMEG appliances

This is a fantastic looking machine. The water tank is easy to fill and clean, as is the drip tray. I love that you can decide on water temperature for the coffee and have it preset, also that you can programme how much water comes through for both single and double shot settings. Makes a lovely cup of coffee with a good amount of crema which adds to the experience. Have been using 2-3 times every day for the last 3 weeks and the machine has been consistent. My only advise is to make sure you wait until the lights have stopped flashing before you do anything, otherwise you may accidentally reprogramme some settings. My fault and not the machine.

The set up is fiddly and took a few goes to work out the correct sequences for water volume, heat and so on. Simple dials to select each setting would be better but then the price might be higher, which I think for the quality of the coffee it makes is actually good value. Cup size is limited until you realise you can remove the drip dray and there's a lower 'stand' for cups underneath which allows bigger cups to be used. I put sticky pads under it to stop it moving around so much on the work surface when you engage / disengage the coffee holder as the machine is too light. Overall I'm very pleased.

I have owned and used home espresso machines (NO pods!) for over 15 years and this is the best to date.Always bought Dualit in the past, but my last machine which I used for nearly 8 years needed weekly descaling and frequent repairs. This machine seems much more reliable and can be programmed for a number of features - which is brilliant. . This makes operation quicker. Takes a while to get the programming done but is well worth the effort in the long run as it will work with the temperature you like; the water hardness; strength of coffee; etc..

So simple to use and quicker then other machines I’ve bought in the past. The price did put me off a little so I checked out reviews and videos online and thought let’s go for it, really glad I did. Cappuccinos, mochas and hot chocolate made at home as good as any coffee shop, maybe a little better once I’ve played around a little :) looks really good too. A couple of family members have purchased the coffee machine after seeing how simple it is to use and how good the hot drinks taste. Would highly recommend.

Having thoroughly researched Bean to Cup coffee machines. I realised the best option was to buy both the coffee machine and grinder separately. Most Bean to the cup machines require too much maintenance and have too many design faults .The Smeg coffee machine is simple and easy to use ,works just like a commercial coffee machine and the frother creates a thick creamy foam. The grinder purchased was a Bodum Burr grinder, which crushes the beans. Have only been using it for a week, but so far so good.

Fantastic item,Looks amazing in our kitchen along with the matching toaster & kettle.Very easy to use and the steamer is fantastic for frothy milk!Producing fantastic coffee and very easy to clean. The look and feel of the entire machine is one of very high quality. Definitely worth paying for, would highly recommend to those coffee lovers who appreciate quality inside their homes.

Bought this really only to match the kettle and toaster I had already bought. While, this is an expensive unit it was far cheaper here than any where else I saw it. So far, I have no complaints, it makes a great cup of coffee and looks beautiful in the kitchen. I just wish the steamer could be used a little longer with out overheating but i was aware of this before i bought it.
