Frank West, apparent journalist, dismemberer of recently deceased loved ones and all round sarcastic 'know it all' is back in the unluckiest place in America. Wilamette,Colorado the backdrop for the campaign is a welcome return with a large map and enough detail and christmas decorations to make uncle terry hate its commercial appeal as much as everything he lays eyes on in december.The main meat of the game is at its best with more combo weapons than before some from previous titles and welcome additions to the festive setting. Sheer body counts and shuffling undead shoppers is at an all time high with impressive amounts of mayhem and gore on screen at any one time with very little impact on performance.The boss battles of the previous titles are almost a distant memory with only a few underwhelming and forgettable encounters through the story. Psychopaths from older Rising games are gone and replaced by 'maniacs' who serve as smaller less interesting versions. These encounters are usually quick and to limited and brief fanfare, with cutscenes for these battles being abscent and the triumph feeling diminished upon beating the latest crazy nut job that you seemingly attract in the apocalypse.The menus and UI is much cleaner and less cryptic than the original title that this is clearly trying to tap into spiritally however with its new focus on accessibilty, it losing the pathos and character of the original. The skills and RPG style elements remain but feel fleshed out with skill trees and skill points giving priority to the player and the style they like or require in the quest to turn every ex person into a gross human smoothie. The ability to craft anywhere returns from the third title but feels more organic and less shoved in your face than before with combo weapons usually feeling fun and varied disregarding one or two useless or yawn worthy tools. Vehicular crafting also brings its unique flavour to Dead rising 4 with zaney and incredibly useful vehicles at your disposal to mow down that tempting crowd of hapless undead.The story is at best acceptable but thats not really the reason we show up with a katana to a crowd of zombies. No the real issue i had with Dead rising 4 was that it made Frank West a greater character than ever before and gave him access to bigger crowds of zombies, more weapons and crazy contraptions and better ease of use for healing items and attacks. All this sounds great till you have a lack luster story, no real charcter building outside of skills and set him back where it all began to be just there. The villian is laughable and forgetful, the other characters motives are obscure and poorly thought out and all adds to feeling like it holds back Frank becoming something more than a cult hero that he is. The motivations in game are weak and unfulfilling and the loss of the time system only extrapolates the idea of disengage with the plot, progression and a resolution. I found myself at level 30 and 10,000 kills before i finished the first case. Not through sheer brilliance but because i felt no urgency with time on my side and no desire to see out the plot. Frank feels funnier and more of a lovably hateable kind of anti hero but is confined and restricted by the framing of the characters and plot.This game though ran well and had very few frame rate or screen tearing issues did suffer from a heavy christmas stocking of glitches. Sound being the biggest problem area. Sounds playing long after the event, such as continuous gunfire or repating explosions were common. Event notifications refusing to disappear from the middle of the screen and zombies being trapped in solid objects were all very common occurances during my 20 stroll through the campaign. However my biggest grudge i hold (minus the ramifications of the plot) was that the entire end of the game and cutscenes were all missing dialogue sound. what really killed my benefit of doubt and stick the proverbal knife in was that when audio failed to sound in game my subtitles also didnt appear so i have no idea what the main characters were mouthing silently to each other at the end of the game. Seriously ... No idea.Overall to stop me rambling i can recommend to any casual zombie fan or forgiving Dead rising fan that they pick this up. The christmas tone and the humour mixed with the level of freedom to brutalise hundreds or thousands of zombies really do shine through the glitches. However Older fans or those of the hardcore variety would find this latest foray alittle too easy and too pedestrian in regard to survival and time constraints. A solid enough attempt at keeping Dead rising alive but needs to bring story, difficulty and pacing to the forefront.

Having so much fun with this game right now if only the other 3 were this good. Loving the new and improved Frank West with his one liner witty comments too. Ps4 owners are in for a real treat when this finally arrives on their platform. What makes the game more appealing to me is that they have done away with timed missions so you can take as long as you like exploring the open world and of course trying on new clothes. One guy said he's level 45 already and he's only played it for 5 hours?? That's a lie right there also I've not come across any glitches whatsoever. If you're going to write a review on a UK website at least learn how to speak and write in English.Definitely not a 2 star game pick up a bargain and try for yourself

Got this for Christmas and I must say.. I fully enjoy playing this game. Only real thing I miss (much like others) are the psychopaths, they were always fun. I'd say something I kinda miss is the drink mixing also.One really bad thing. The amount of guns you find just laying about the place, seems a bit over the top and I don't remember the others being so care free with the gun drops.Other than that it's a really fun game that lets you take your time and do what you want. Personally I would be happy paying full price for this as I've not finished it yet and just taking my time killing hordes of zombies, but others may not get that level of enjoyment out of it.For them I would say wait till the price drops.

I was lucky to get this game as a gift. If you like the good old zombe movies like dawn of the dead the one in the shopping mail then you will love this the game is smooth and the graphics are great but could of been better. The gameplay is smooth and easy to use. Great to be able move around the area hacking and slashing the zombiles then getting in to a vehicle and wiping the floor with total destruction. I loved the game and it has great great re-play vaule just wiping out the zombiles. Plus now you don't have a time limit anymore to kill the zombile like the previous 3 games.You can now be the hero in your on zombile horror film .

Fun. Stupid. Crazy Mad Game.Free roam zombie killing sensation. Plenty of weapons, upgrades and vehicles.Story has some funny segments but seemed short. The new zombies introduced I don't like. I prefer the slow dumb ones, not the fast clever ones.EXO suit is ace but seemed limited to me. You can play more stealthily than in Dead Rising 3 which is nice.Online did not impress me & also no cooperative campaign. So you can't do levels with a mate, or stranger.Overall, it is a great game to play for fun. When other games get boring or make you mad. Get this game and go kill some already dead zombies.Would recommend.

Wasn't overly fussed with 1 and 2 , 3 was ok . I got this one because the timed missions are out of it . For me it's brilliant without the timed missions . I loved this one the most . Your free to roam around killing as much zombies as you wish and in however many ways you want . With the Christmas theme aswell it's perfect . I've compleated it allready but I allready want to play again . Lots to explore , lots to do and see . Tons of fun . The only downfall , for me I don't care but some may. It's very easy . I didn't die once but I didn't care as it was so much fun .

I have been a fan of the dead rising series from video game giants Capcom for years.if you have played any of the Dr series, you will know what to expect.If not, imagine grand theft auto, with a lot of zombies, combo weapons you make yourself andthe usual mission based styled sandbox game.The main character from 1 Frank West, goes back to Willamette mall, 16 years after the firstoutbreak. And this is where the game starts.Be warned, this is an absolute gorefest. Walking dead fans/horror movie fans will love this.

Good game. Don't be put off by the negative reviews, if you enjoyed the previous games you will defo like this. I say its a mix of DR1 & DR3 which works great. Lots of comedy moments and nostalgia from the first game. Great to play around the season because of the music you may get sick of it once Crimbo has passed. Anyway DR4 has a fun story with improved dynamics and charachter movement. Recomend to anyone who has played the previous3 games.

Very fun game, i got it for a decent price, the sellers delivered within two days of purchase. I love loyal customer service its what makes amazon appreciate its customers. Note though according to the game design, the game started with no volume so i had to manually adjust my audio. I thought coz i got the game for a decent price, it might have been a fake version, but it isnt. So all good

I don't get the hate for this game, it's a blast to play, sure it has been slightly dumbed down but that means more fun in my opinion. Crafting weapons is still just as fun as it was in Dead Rising 3, and it's great to be back killing zombies in a mall again :DGood game, only downside, Frank West's voice is not the original voice from Dead Rising 1, other than that you will have a blast.

Probably the most festive game I've played since James Pond 2!Soundtrack is absolutely brilliant, the themes from the pause screen you could actually chill to on Christmas eve. Gameplay is typical Dead Rising, however I will say this is a lot easier than previous games, which for me is fine, the original was a bit too harsh at times. The included zombie gold DLC is excellent fun as well!

As a zombie fan I strongly recommend this game as it is literally hours and hours of fun and game play. There is much to discover, find and destroy along with challenges and side missions to keep you occupied.The multiplayer is fun, especially if you can invite friends to join you.So yes, Dead rising 4 is worth the time and money

Dead rising 4 is a brilliant funny don't take too seriously wacky zombie destruction game hours of fun running around inventing new ways to destroy zombies with various objects of your choice and a vast map to do with as you please you would be hard pressed to find a more enjoyable zombie experience than dead rising 4

Sceptical at first as I've not played any of the dead rising's before hand, but I'm a huge walking dead fan and needed my zombie fix.Best game I've played in a long time!!! Good story, funny as @#*$ humour throughout the game from creating a "blam bow" to a "mow-ster". The game just had me fixed to my screen.

I can't put into words how fun this game is. The wacky weapons, vehicles and the one liners from the characters have had me laughing out loud on several occasionsThe important thing about this game is it doesn't take itself seriously and as a result is probably my favourite of the dead rising games
