This is the latest Dead Rising game, and available exclusively to Xbox One (I think) as one of the original launch titles. Hopefully this review can give you a good flavour of the game and help you decide whether to buy it (YES!!). To put it in perspective, I'm a `casual' gamer, more likely to be found playing shooters like Battlefield or Borderlands, or RPGs like Fallout, adventures like Assassin's Creed or GTA. I like open worlds and lots of freedom to play-as-you-like. I don't particularly like horror movies or horror games, and have never played a Dead Rising game before this one, so will not be comparing 3 to it's predecessors. However, I'd heard good things, and the trailers looked pretty epic so thought I'd give it a go.ZOMBIESZombies, zombies, zombies!! The one thing Dead Rising doesn't lack is zombies. The power of the new Xbox is easily demonstrated in this game with literally hundreds and hundreds of zombies present on screen at any given time. To give you an idea of just how many there are, the game keeps a tally on-screen of your zombie kills, and after completing the single player story (with 70% completion of side mission stuff) my tally was just short of 35,000 glorious zombie deaths. I'm not joking - there are Xbox Achievements for killing over 70,000 or 100,004 - there are THAT many!!!And the zombies themselves are great! Scary, but great! As a new person to the zombie-genre, I was close to soiling myself in even the first scenes of the game, where you're wandering through a deserted quarantine warehouse with just one or two zombies jumping out at you. This only serves to introduce you to the basic controls however, and you're suddenly thrust out into the open with half a mile, and a few thousand zombies between you and your next objective. Cue some tentative poking of the nearest zombies with wooden sticks, before a full on panicked run through the horde, physically dodging and twisting on the edge of my sofa to avoid their grasps!!!The only niggle with the zombies is their inconsistent abilities to jump/climb - you can stand on the roof of a car indefinitely and let the hordes of undead cluster around you. But they will not/cannot jump or climb up onto said car. As soon as you get INTO the car however, you suddenly have zombies jumping/climbing all over it... Not the most consistent!!!!WEAPONSThere are so many different ways to rack up zombie kills it's insane, and this is one of Dead Rising's biggest strengths - you can chop, hack, slash, push, bomb, remote-control, throw, shoot, and even shout delightfully inventive ways of deathdealing, with the combo upgrades scattered across the city. Alternatively you can shun all weapons and go fisticuffs, but this will likely end badly...Many of the combos I found I only really used when first discovering them, but there are so many you'll never get bored for choice. However, I found I tended to stick to a few favourite super-combos - the explosive flaming grim reaper axe, and the flaming sword (always useful to have some flaming stuff available for a bit more light at night time), and for sheer novelty/funnage purposes, the remote control helicopter chopper-gunner toy, the giant teddybear with machine guns strapped to it, the automatic sex-toy-cannon (yes you read that correctly) some monstrosity electric-come-flamer Gandalf staff I made from a lamppost, etc - I could go on!! Oh and the better the combo, the more points you rack up per kill, so get crafting!!And yes - your weapons will break, meaning you have to plan your way carefully, craft on the go, regularly use your safe houses, grab whatever's lying around, and NEVER go out in the dark underprepared...ENVIRONMENT / GRAPHICS / ATMOSPHERE / GAMEPLAY 1I've grouped the above together as they are mutually inclusive in Dead Rising 3. The full horrific beauty of the experience of e.g. standing on a rooftop as the sun sets, arcing a flare towards a darkened street, and watching hundreds of dark shapes cluster around the smokey red hue, ghastly red-glowing-eyed shadows flickering and strobing as they huddle round, is hard to explain. You really can imagine this as the backdrop to a Hollywood blockbuster. It is breathtaking. Add to that the inhumane shrieks, crashes and explosions that you can hear as you creep through a back alley keep the hairs on the back of your neck permanently raised and you constantly have to check yourself when you realise quite how tensely you're sitting. It's all very well happy-slashing your way through a horde of bodies during the day with your favourite combo, but when you find yourself alone in the darkness, on the wrong side of an underpass with only a crowbar and no flashlight, you cannot help but start to get rather panicky. Similarly when you're creeping through a deserted basement or tunnel, go round the corner and see, silhouetted in the smokey light, a screaming zombie American football player charging down the corridor towards you - ARGH!!! Some of the zombies remember basic skills like shotgun use etc (but they're not very good at it!!). And then theres the first time you encounter a crack team of military or splinter groups of biker gangs - you will be destroyed (rage-quit)!!!! They couldn't have done it much better in my opinion.STORYLINE / GAMEPLAY 2The storyline is great. Without revealing any spoilers, you are a dude in a city that has recently been infested with zombies, all exits have been sealed, and you have seven days to find a way out before the military firebombs the entire city. You can follow the storyline, or you can engage in the numerous side missions/bosses or item collections or challenges available across the city, much like the open world of GTA, just much more zombified...! There is also an element of uneasiness present throughout, as there is a continually ticking countdown to Armageddon! I played on "Completionist" mode, which allows more than enough time for all your zombie-killing-side-mission-completing needs, and I think I'd done over 70% of side bits when completing, with over a day left on the clock. If you do nightmare mode, then you really need to cooperatively rush it - there is a real squeeze on time, zombies are uber-strength, and you're very unlikely to survive long enough to get out alive. Mwahahaha!!!SURVIVORS / POSSE AIYou can also rescue and recruit survivors to your posse for more zombie hunting goodness, though here is where my only real issues with the game lay. Firstly, to recruit many of the survivors, you have to complete several tasks for them. These can be anything from finding them a decent shotgun, to finding their wedding ring or other sundry items... "I know theres a zombie apocalypse, and we'r all about to die, but I'm not leaving unless you go to get me my favourite handbag from the other side of the city..." WHAT?!?!?But once you complete these tasks, some survivors can become part of your posse. By this, it means you can equip them with ANY weapon (which will never break whilst in their possession) and have them follow you around whilst you all kill stuff. However, the posse members were more an irritant than anything else, and I found myself screaming on many occasions at the idiotic team member who would NOT get into my car, but instead fell over at the slightest touch, or who somehow managed to get him/herself stuck surrounded by zombies, etc. More often than not I just ignored them or didn't bother to recruit them from the "survivor board". Interestingly, my first survivor died very quickly but somehow became resurrected later on in the game and available again - I don't know how I did that...!! They could have been better - aside from proving useful cannon fodder/distraction in boss battles, for me they just got in the way.CHARACTER & LEVELLINGAs with many games, you can level your character up - the more stuff you do/zombies you kill, the more points you get. Using combo or super-combo weapons and stringing together kill streaks (my best streak was over 300), gets you more points. Use these to improve your character health/abilities. You can also customise your character with loads of different outfits, some less appropriate than others, which can be found throughout the city. You can also combo footstuffs to give yourself some wicked abilities, but annoyingly I didn't realise this until most of the way through the game..!!VEHICLESThere is something so satisfying about ploughing through a zombie hoard on your very own zombie death machine - the combination vehicles are hilarious. My favourites included the forklift that impails then shoots zombies with fireworks, and the flamethrowing-steamroller-motorbike that obliterates everything around it with a hoggish roar!!BOSSESDead Rising 3 has a variety of bosses, some throughout the main story, and some as optional side missions. Each has a slightly different weakness or specific way of approaching it to kill it. Each boss has distinct `character', and some are particularly disturbing (especially the `surgeon')...I found the bosses particularly challenging, and several (including a hellish mechanical one three quarters of the way through) resulted in me rage-quitting more than a few times... But this is actually a fantastic contrast to the relative ease of dispatching regular zombies, and adds another element to the game. Admittedly after having the pants scared off my by many of the plot bosses, I found myself actively avoiding side-boss missions like the plague..!!!!XBOX ONE INTEGRATIONOk, it's early days for Xbox One games, with little niggles in several - Battlefield 4 bombs out, gets stuck on loading, or doesn't recognise the controller if it's not turned on when loading, AC3 Black Flag forgets who's signed in when you load it, etc. Dead Rising 3 had none of these issues - I was able to flip back and forth between the game and TV, snap TV whilst playing, or record game clips with no issues at all. It even worked flawlessly with the (beta) "resume-game-on-start" thing where you can turn the console on and go straight into the game without any loading screens/menus and take off from where you were. Seamless.KINECT 2.0 INTEGRATIONDead Rising 3 is the first game where I've willingly used Kinect integration consistently through the game. It's eery and quite thrilling to be able to run past a group of zombies shouting "I'm over here" and have them all turn and start lumbering towards you/the sound source. You can also direct your posse by pointing with your hand and telling them to "scavenge over there" or to cover you, etc. Telling them to scavenge is particularly useful when they've managed to get themselves half killed (see my gripes with posse under "Survivors / Posse AI".SMARTGLASS COMPANION APPAgain, this works really well and is really well integrated into the game - it is clear that this was designed to be a worthwhile part of the game, rather than as an afterthought. You can use the "ZDC" app as a large minimap, to call reinforcements, make/answer in-game phone calls, select missions, create waypoints, and much more. One of the most interesting features is the option to get the app to look for and place a marker on the nearest gun/axe/sword/frying pan/food/whatever, if you're searching for it for that super-combo you want to make. I couldn't find a way to do this in the main game, so it just heightens the value of using the companion app alongside it. Throughout the map you can collect "ZDC Upgrades", which I think upgrade the options available, but I never quite figured this out...! I'll leave that to you!I used the Smartglass companion app on an Android smartphone and a Windows 8 touchscreen laptop with no issues. Personally, I preferred the versatility of using the bigger screen of the laptop as it was much easier to select options, etc. as there are a lot on screen at a time which can get a bit `busy' on a smaller screen.MULTIPLAYEROnce I'd completed the single-player experience I gave multiplayer a try. Now I can see that this could be awesome if you're playing co-operatively with friends via an Xbox Party, but none of my friends have upgraded to Xbox One yet, so I had to search for an open session to join. I spent a good while staring at waiting/loading screens and on the few occasions I got in, my `teammate' didn't seem particularly interested in working cooperatively and carried on with their own agenda. When we did cooperate however, it was awesome - there was no noticeable lag. However, the potential for the multiplayer is huge, and working cooperatively on the more time-limited game-modes is a must otherwise you will run out of time and die!!SUMMARYSo yes - never tried zombies before, and frankly I loved it! I know there are some downloadable add-on packs out there, but I decided to trade it in for a different game instead. I hadn't got bored, but just fancied a change. If you're playing cooperatively with friends, this has the potential to be AWESOME. The amount of things you can do on this and the superb integration with Kinect make it (in my opinion) one of the must-plays to showcase Microsoft's new console. Hope this review has been helpful!! I'll try and answer any questions anyone may have...!

The Good:- Lots of replay value, better save system, hours of fun gameplay. The Bad:- Too many Zombies at times, some boring missions, Humans enemies too tough. With only seven days till an atomic bomb is dropped on the city of Los Perdidos, Nick Ramos must escape from the zombie infested streets before it's too late. With every exit out of the city blocked, Nick requires the aid of friends to escape whatever the cost may be. And so begins, Dead Rising 3I would first like to say that this is only the second Dead Rising game I have played as I never got around to playing the second game. As a result my comparisons are between the first game and this one. That being said,I can easily say that Dead Rising 3 is the best launch game for the Xbox One. While it may not be graphically impressive for the system, it makes up for it in its fun to play and highly addictive gameplay. The idea is simple, Zombies roam the streets and you simply `kill' them with any weapon you can find, while finding other survivors and helping them to safety. The weapons range from useless items like shampoo bottles to the powerful battle-axes and swords. The game also boasts a good range of guns with the likes of pistols, shotguns and machine guns.Without a doubt the biggest selling point of this game is the `Blueprint Weapons'. Spread out around the game world are these blue prints that unlock combo weapons that deal more damage and also give higher XP points (PP in this game). One such example is when you combine a lead pipe with a machine gun it creates a four barrel gun. Combing a Chainsaw with a meat cleaver will somehow create two mini chainsaws. These all make no sense in their logic but that just adds to the stupidity of the game which somehow works in its favour. It's not a game to be taken too seriously nor does it try to be.There also blueprints to create vehicles that are used to travel between the four areas of the map. These are created by combining two types of transport together such as a bike with a steamroller which creates a sort of bike of death with flamethrowers on the front. Two cars will create a Junk Car that can fire acid and then there is stranger ones like combining a forklift with a party van, I won't spoil that one for you.As I mentioned, the map is split into four main areas that are connected by two highways. They are all open world but as the game progresses, some the roads have military checkpoints setup to make it more of a challenge to get around. This is a little annoying at first but it is mainly put there to make the gamer explore on foot more and see parts of the map you may have simply drove past. The world contains countless shops, bars, restaurants and other such places where the player can stock up on food and supplies at any time. Some shops also have clothing, which gives you the ability to change the look of Nick. They range from Mexican Wrestler, Fung Fu master and Beach Bum to the even stranger ones such as Women's Lingerie (O_O) dresses and `Cow Girl' style clothing. While you may not want to wear these (or do, it's your choice!) it just adds to the humour of the game. Of course there are suits and tuxedos as well if you wish to be sensible.Touching on the subject of graphics, the game is one of the weaker entries at launch. Textures up close are quite good and the zombies do look amazing but it isn't anything that couldn't be done on the last generation consoles. But one thing this game does well though is keep up the frame rate. At one point I was driving a car down the street with at least 200 if not 300 zombies on the screen at once and it played smoothly with no lag. Cut scenes are very good with strong voice acting and believable character movement. One small point though is that Nick is always a little bit too surprised every time something happens. For example, while making my way to a location, I chop and smash my way through hundreds of Zombies with no real fear in Nick's performance. However, in the next cutscene, he entries a room that has about six zombies and he acts with fear and horror and this scene is about halfway through the game. It's not too bad to start with but when you have killed well over 30,000 zombies at this point, it doesn't match the game. The game does boast some of the strongest violence I have ever seen in a game. You can chop off pretty much any part of the Zombies with some strong graphic detail. At times, the violence is a little too strong but this is why the game is an 18. If you dislike gore then you may not enjoy this game.Moving on to the sound, all I can say is they are clear and match the items well. Hitting something with wood sound like and the same for metal. As I said the voice acting a truly well done if not a litte cheesy. There is music in the game but it acts more of an ambiance that does become more excitable when under attack from large groups but apart from that you won't even notice it half the time. One last point is the game has a levelling up system that really does help in the game. Unlike the poor and tacked on levelling up in say GTA5, this game pretty much requires you to do this to increase your health, strength and general speed in completing tasks.I feel that this is really the only true full retail game that has been made for Xbox One. While all the other games are ports (COD, BF4) or are barely even a shadow of the previous games in its series (Forza 5), this does feel like a full game from start to finish. Nothing feels left out for DLC and there is more content then you could wish for. I do have suspicions that this game might have already been in production for Xbox 360 and at some point was ported over as it is so large for a launch game. But those are just my theories.Overall, DR3 is a truly fun blood and guts game that has moments of horror and comedy. It may be a little frustrating at times but the overall game is enjoyable you should at the very least try it as a rental.Best Xbox One launch game.

Personally, I find that this is the most entertaining and fun game that has been released for the xbox one in comparison to Forza, Ryse and Fifa 14. There are several reasons for it being so, but the main one is that there are no micro-transactions required in order to get anywhere in the game. It is just a fantastic game that truly highlights the power of the xbox one, and while it is not the BEST, it demonstrates what we are about to experience in time to come. The real gripe I have experienced with all xbox one games is the installation of them. For some reason it's slow as hell no matter what you do - but I think this is because the microsoft servers are so overloaded at the moment, which they should have expected to be honest, but what can you do? Be patient, and it will install eventually. The game starts out slow, and there is a lack of a real story to it, but it's not designed or marketed to keep you at your toes ends in terms of the storyline. However, once you get past the first 30 minutes of the game where you're essentially stuck in a small area of the enormous map, the fun begins. There has never been a time where I have genuinely been absolutely stunned and amazed at the sheer quality and size of a game before (apart from ARMA 3 on a maxed out rig - which would cost around £10,000). Zombies are everywhere, and they are everywhere in enormous numbers without a single bit of lag whatsoever while playing. I'm talking up to 400 zombies on the screen at one time - on a 55" HD TV in full 1080p. The guns are pretty pathetic, and there aren't many mods for them, but this game is all about hand on hand melee action, and it does not disappoint at all. There are a whole range of hilarious and interesting weapons that you can acquire and create, my favourite being the ultimate death reaper. It took a while to find and collect the crafting page for it, but god it's incredible. You'll start off with a basic crafting weapon, a chainsaw attached to a hatchet I believe - and you'll experience what it's like to truly destroy zombies with this death machine type weapon. As you go from place to place, you're on a quest to obtain zombrex - the antidote to the zombie infection, but at the same time are on a race against the clock as a nuclear bomb is about to be dropped at your location to wipe out the zombies. It's slightly engaging, but it gets a tad boring and you'll find yourself skipping cutscenes so that you can get at killing zombies again. The boss fights have been epic (i've had 3 so far, and they were hilarious and fun at the same time, albeit a bit tough sometimes), and you slowly gain more and more PP - which is basically used to upgrade your stats and skills as you go along. The driving in the game is pretty hilarious, it's not realistic, but its still very manageable and fun to watch zombies crawl all over you car trying to get in - sometimes they even do and fling you out. You again can craft your own vehicles once you obtain the crafting rolls - and can make a battle tank at the end of the spectrum of vehicular destroyers. Mowing down zombies with your tank by crushing them is actually incredibly pleasing and fun.Now - there are some gripes to this game and it can't all be perfect. For starters, the controls WILL take a little while to get used to. They are a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes and you can find yourself doing stupid things like dropping high end crafted weapons only to find that it's disappeared because of a bug. Usually you can drop weapons and pick them back up, but i've found that sometimes they disappear. The camera angles are also a pain in the ass sometimes, but like i've said you will get used to it pretty quickly and the controls need to be laid out in this manner along with the camera angles in order for the game to work. If the layout was any different then i can't begin to imagine the difficulties you could face. However - unlike in any other game i've ever played before, this game runs at a constant 60fps and DOES NOT LAG WHATSOEVER AT ANY GIVEN POINT. This is just incredible for what is going on around you.So far i've racked up 20,528 zombie kills, and i'm only about 30% of the way into the game. I have been collecting parts and scavenging all sorts of weapon/vehicle crafting. I am milking this game enormously and have been playing for a total of 7 hours - some people have said that they have completed the campaign in this time, but I don't see how thats actually possible unless you're speeding through it and not doing any side quests or collecting things (which for me is the funnest and most interesting).Overall a game with some flaws, but truly incredible in terms of where we have come with games today. This is just the beginning. Hold onto your horses people as the next generation of gaming has arrived.

The original was one of the first games I played on 360 and got really excited about (there were so many zombies on-screen and it was like being let loose in Dawn Of The Dead) so it's quite fitting that the first game I gave significant time to on the new console was a DR one. Having actively disliked the 2nd game though (I thought it was a frustrating, charmless shambles) I went in with low expectations......so was pleasantly surprised when I loved this. So much fun. The sheer amount of zombies kicking around and the sheer amount of ways you can kick them around is just staggering. There's a lot of travelling back and forth across the map, but making up a combo vehicle and mowing through the hordes on your travels never, ever got old for me. The way the game opens is fantastic, throwing you in at the deep end with all sorts of madness literally raining down on you. It's a thrilling opening to the game and outdoes the original's helicopter ride for setting up some atmosphere and sucking you in. Nick is the most likeable lead the series has so far had, with the voice acting and facial animations doing an admirable job of filling him with character. He's a nice chap in a bad situation, and I'm attached to him as a player in ways I never was with Chuck (who was a bit of a cypher). The quality of voice and character work sadly doesn't extend to the story, and the design of the bosses can be a tad crass. It's aiming for satirical laughs, but the targets are so obvious and stereotypical that it can come off very juvenile. I laughed a lot playing DR3, but the laughs came from the gameplay mechanics and emergent open-world mayhem, and very, very rarely from the writing itself.Getting every combo/collectible/vehicle is massively addictive, the zombie killing is ridiculously satisfying and the first thing I did on finishing the game was start fresh with my levelled up character and jump straight back in again. There are a bunch of different endings and an epilogue section which I never got on my first run, so looking forward to things panning out differently this time. After that there's still Nightmare mode to consider, which follows the time and save restrictions of the original game more closely so that should be a welcome challenge. So all in I've put a great deal of time into this and will probably get a whole load more play out of it in the months to come. Great stuff and the best the series has been.

Okay I have not been playing the game for days - I have however had a few hours on this last night which gives me enough of a feel to the game.Graphically, I must say this is absolutely stunning, i thought first of all that it was not good as Last of Us on PS3 but when you scratch the surface, yup DR3 wipes the floor with it. Not because of its individual textures, but it is simply the amount of independent pixels moving all at once. This gives the game more of a real feel to it.Sound wise, perfect atmospheric and beautiful.Gameplay, well I am at a mixed bag here - yes the game is wonderful the concept is great and the implementation is flawless but the trouble I find with console games is that you slap them in a genre and they are all the same...sports,racing, beat em up, shoot em up , RPG etc and this one makes not exceptions. This is a beat em up/racing from what I have seen so far.Even with the PS3 I only found one game that was different and that was XCOM and there is no other game like it; games like Elite, The Sentinel and so on,, are few and far between on consoles but that is by the by.DR3 is what it is an excellent beat em up/shoot em up/racing thing and if you want to hit the murder death kill ratios, great this the game for you - you can clock up a massive amount of dead zombies and tallies of how many you have killed is kept (I think I hit around 1,000 in a couple of hours) whether you run them over, hack them with your machete, shoot them with your automatic rifle or fire a water gun at them (true). Either way if the later one is ineffective at killing zombies you can always batter it to death with the same weapon. To date, I have find the game not really so challenging - I would have expected falling into the flailing arms of hundreds of zombies in the middle of them to be certain death - not so.. you can usually wriggle your way through the thousands of wanting arms. That being said the boss fights are usually a little trickier....but with a little patience I have defeated a few of them.So going back to my initial title, yep GTA meets end of the world - wonderful game overall especially if your into chopping stuff to bits.Titanfall next!

I have played the Deadrising games right from the beginning, and although its come a long way its still predictable. The story mode is pretty much what you would expect, zombie outbreak, help survivors, solve a consipracy. Which in all honestly is a little bit dull, I agree there isnt anything wrong with sticking to a set basis which runs throughout the games, but even playing it the first time through you know whats going to happen in the main plotline, which sadly spoils it a little bit, but its still a solid (if not a little bit short) campaign. The mechanics are the highlight of the game, with the next-gen console they have had more room to improve the foundation of the game, and they have. The detail in a swarm of zombies is fantastic, and the map itself is bigger and better than anything previous (Tricky to get used to at first however) The physical presence of your character is greatly improved, the sprinting, climbing, jumping and fighting is much more fluid and more enjoyable, which in turn helps the game run along smoothly. The weapons are another highlight of the game, the total number of weapons & combo weapons is now bigger than ever before, with the return of a few favourites. The new locker system is both a blessing and a curse. Once you find/create a weapon its your forever, just go to a locker and acsess it anytime, its helpful but also defeats the whole objective of having to scavenge and fight for the parts/weapons. However the fighting mechanics are brilliant, dispatching a horde of zombies with a flaming sword has never looked and felt so good. Also shooting military soilder with a "Massager" Cannon is nothing short of hilarious. The weapons really make the game playable and its definetly the freshest part of the franchise. The availabiltiy of vehicles is also a new addition with cars and bikes now massively more accessable due to the map size, the new combo vehicle are also a strong additon to the game.To sum it up, if you enjoy open world zombie games then look no further, however if you already enjoy the DR franchise, dont expect any major changes

Dead Rising 3 achieves most of what you want from a sequel. It's bigger and better than its predecessors, while managing to remain true to the series roots. If you loved the first couple of games then you more or less know what you're going to get here. It's non-stop zombie slaying with insanely creative weaponry and an underlying black humour that makes the series so fun. From a technical perspective, I was impressed at just how many zombies there are on screen at any one time now and I didn't really notice if there was any duplication of appearance or system lag. You can also make custom vehicles now which are equally as wacky as the weaponry! There is one downside though. The game is by far too easy,if fact, normal Story Mode feels more like Easy Mode to me. Most boss/psychopath fights you can win without too much effort just by using the same hit-and-run tactics and most aren't even that dangerous. Likewise, the zombies soon become a hindrance more than a real threat, particularly if you pick certain Attribute skills and weapons. Once I got to around level 20 I’d actually stopped using Attribute Points as the character felt strong enough already. On top of that you have (a more or less) unlimited supply of discovered weapons at your safe houses.Dead Rising 3 is probably the only game I’d recommend playing on Nightmare Mode from the start, although this may not be for everyone. It’s a game that you get the most out of if you learn all the weapon combos and locations off by heart, which helps make it more of a challenging speed run, particularly as you can now improvise weapons on the go. You won’t be able to save everyone or do everything on Nightmare Mode, but that is the point as it makes every game different and interesting. If you are quick enough you can do more or less everything in one play through on Story Mode, but for me that doesn’t have the same sense of challenge or replay factor as Nightmare.A good and fun game, but just needed to offer a more of a challenge.

Really enjoying this game. I was a huge fan of DR1 when it originally launched on xbox 360 some 6 years ago, the glossy graphics, sandbox gameplay and witty humour made the game extremely fun and different, and I think this latest Dead Rising sits neatly between the 2 games. Yes it is even more westernised than DR2 but it also has moments and nods to the original game especially the main character who not only sounds just like Frank West but reacts like him too which was sorely absent from the initial launch of DR2.I have especially enjoyed DR3's weapons and crafting system, there are some really awesome "wow" moments when you find a blueprint for some ridiculous weapon that is gonna earn you an insane combo or mutilate a zombie in a way you never even thought of!This is where DR3 surpasses it's Predecessors. The map is also extremely varied and fun to explore! You can pretty much scale any building and look around inside for schematics, trophies and collectibles. This is a huge map which after over 15hours play I have still not seen all areas of!In a nutshell then I'll sum up by saying this game is not as charming as the first, but also not as dull as the second, it sits nicely in the middle drawing on both games to create something truly fun and engaging. Considering this is a launch title and has No micro transactions priced at £44 it's a very good buy for your new xbox one. I highly recommend it! Oh and notice my review was not about graphics!, why? Well because it's just a great game, the graphics are excellent but it should be bought on its merit as a fun and entertaining experience and that is what I am recommending here. Enjoy.

Dead Rising 3 takes place 10 years after the events of Dead Rising 2, you play as Nick who is stuck in the zombie infested fictional town of Los Perdidos. You seek out to find an escape but a bigger story unfolds as you make your failed escape. ( SPOILERS) Nick is bitten and eventually finds out he is Immune, you set out to rescue survivors and find out why you are Immune. Along the way you can help aid survivors in side quests as well as the ever popular Boss battles known as Psychopaths. Theres plenty of awesome weapons as well as BluePrints for combo weapons which are beyond crazy, The game has a good 10-15 hours of playtime. Theres a good amount of replayability for completionists as well as a Harder mode and Multiplayer.the Kinect features aren't the most interesting but can aid some elements throughout the game, saying this the Kinect microphone is very sensitive and will often unpause your game or attract zombies when you don't need it.I must point out as well too free yourself from the Zombies you have too Violently shake you're controller, this will happen allot and may cause a bit of wrist pain.Put simply it's a great game minus the Kinect and controller features. If you're in it for the story as well as slaying zombies but if you're new to the series you may have to check out some youtube playthroughs or buy the previous two games.Value- 5/5Replayability- 4/5story- 5/5Kinect-features/controller 2/5Overall- 8/10As a warning one of the Psychopath battles will have you shouting " Oh Kinky!" to disable one of the more adult Psychopaths. keep that in mind if family members are around too avoid embarrassment!

This game is unbelievably fun, the sheer amount if things you can do is just great! Let me start by clearing up a couple of things, one is that lots of people rave on about the amazing graphics and there are a lot of people who say well actually there not that good BUT they really are excellent as they look good on my tv (a very cheap Technika) so if they look good on that I can imagine what the standard will be like on for example a Sony. Another thing is that many zombies games just don't cut it with the fun factor, take dead island for example, it is a good game but there was far too much to do right from the get go and the tasks were those sort of annoying tasks that while doing them the last thing you wanted was zombies in your way (not much of a zombie game)but this game balances this very well, there are lots of tasks but there really fun to do and you actually welcome zombies and this is due to the massive amount of weapons that you can use to do it, Capcom has made it fun to kill zombies with over 100 weapon combos and lots more random items to be used besides the combo ones and also the vehicles are absolutely brilliant to drive around in and slaughter zombies with. Another good point is the connect usage, you can use it to lure and distract zombies and control your posse by telling them what to do! The only reason I gave this game four stars is because it feels like something is missing but I honestly couldn't say what but in terms of fun it is at least 6/7 out of five literally, it is great and well worth the buy if you like sandbox and zombie games!

I bought Dead Rising 3 for my Xbox One at launch as I really enjoyed the earlier games and liked what I'd heard about the changes to this and fancied some zombie action on my new console.I seem to like Zombie games on new consoles, having bought the excellent Zombiu at Wiiu launch but it must be said this couldn't be more different. Rather than serious survival action the emphasis here is purely on fun. You have a narrative to play through, filled with characters including the array of psycho's found in Dead Rising games but you no longer have a strict time limit (though side quests still have limits but they are reasonable)and the focus is on taking your time to explore the world and find the weapon and vehicle blueprints scattered throughout the world that allow you to wield and drive some of the craziest zombie killing contraptions you'll ever see. It really is great fun and becomes even better mayhem when you hook up with a friend or random visitor for some co-op action. The game itself isn't the prettiest but it is now running smoothly since a day one patch and it is impressively stacked with hundreds and thousands of zombies and runs without any loading once you are in the game, an impressive feat and a huge step forward from the last gen offerings. The controls are much improves, the feel tighter and less clunky to me and it makes for a fluid experience.Overall I'm having a blast with the game, for me it's been one of the most fun games at launch and it comes high recommended. Great game.

I'll start of by saying I purchased my copy from Game.Having played and enjoyed the previous two titles I was really excited for this title however I decided to wait rather than get it on release and get Ryse: son of Rome instead. I finally picked it up a couple weeks ago and am extremely glad i did! The original Dead Rising was fantastic, compared to games at the time it was something new and was thoroughly enjoyable and challenging at the same time. Number two was good but it didn't feel like a major improvement, it was more like Dead Rising 1.5. Number 3 however has improved and I would advise anyone who was smart enough to buy an xbox one over a PS4 to purchase this game as it will help prove your decision was right!- Graphics are amazing!Massive improvement are on previous two, as you would expect from next-gen.- Game play is much smoother, previous games felt almost clunky in terms of movement but this does seem to function much more effectively.- Story line, personally absolutely loved it, simple but effective with a few twists and turns. Only downside is that its a little short.- Weapons and Vehicles, massive selection of both and over 100 combo weapons providing you with loads of alternate ways to slaughter zombies!!- Map is perfect, great size, interesting scenery and perfect layout.Over all a really solid game that implements all the strong points from DR1+2, my only criticism is that it was a bit short. I would strongly encourage people to buy!! 8.5/10

Great graphics, brilliant environment (city scape), sweet handling on the vehicles, very addictive gameplay and fun!I have played through the game twice now. I usually don't like "grinder games" and want about 20 hours of game play with a solid storyline to keep me happy, but this one has had my attention for 40 hours plus, I had to get every upgrade and most of the mini "quests" like kill 10000 zombies with fire are fun and I was surprised at how much I wanted to complete a lot of them, which is for me a rare thing. The fact is that there is so many different ways to kill zombies and so many different weapon combinations like the meat + dynamite that you are always inventing new ways to take out these walking dead creatures so the fun just seems endless. There is a lot more to it but i don't want to spoil it.I also enjoyed gta5 but would rate dead rising 3 higher as it makes me feel like I am in a "walking dead" episode crossed with Zombieland or shaun of the dead. So from a personal point of interest I just thought it was brilliant. Some of the bosses are just plain hilarious too. Love it!I would have liked to have had "90% walking dead" rather than 50% walking dead 50% Zombieland but it is still a lot of fun and that is part of the charm. If you like these sorts of films/tv then you will love this game.

It's okay. Maybe it's better with two people, I'm not sure...Only ever played single player, but I felt even then it was too easy. The original Dead Rising games were a worry when you came across a psychopath..This one... Not so much. I never felt the need to carry food around with me because there was always plenty of food just laying around. It's an alright game to kill some time, the story is fairly good, gameplay is a bit... I feel like they really made this game so much easierNot just the fact of easier "boss fights" but the fact you can make combo weapons anywhere, spawn weapons from a locker, my health actually REGENERATES... The attribute system is pretty cool, but I feel that just adds to the lack of difficulty. Having lots of health early is nothing like the older games. Also, the standard story mode actually autosaves. I never died, but if I did, there wouldn't be a risk factor. Not sure if I liked that system. It's not all bad though. Some of the weapons are pretty cool and I've had a bit of a laugh playing it. I'm giving it 4 stars because I actually sat through it and completed it, so it couldn't have been that bad. I'm also planning on completing it on "Nightmare" which is basically how the games used to be.Delivery was very good and came very fast. Would purchase from Amazon again ))

I've never played a dead rising game before but from the TV adverts it looked pretty cool and added to that a friend was getting it so i decided to pick up a copy myself. Whether you play it on your own or (even better) with a friend this is ridiculously good fun and probably the best hack and slash zombie game i have yet to play. The combinations of weapons that can be had or indeed vehicles you can "combine" really show imagination and mean you rarely get bored. Lots of blood and gore which are helped by the fantastic graphics. I would say this game is a lot better when played with a friend and the amount of fun we've had so far just mowing through a huge group of zombies while travelingaround is hilarious.VERDICT: if you like zombie hack and slash games but at the same time require a certain tactical thinking along the way then i fully recommend this game as it offers hours of endless fun. The only downside is you can get lost sometimes and struggle in finding your way around. Just don't do as we did and plough into a croud of zombies in a vehicle, get out and start hacking them all down only to find the weapons we were using eventually break. At which point we were screwed (but we had a laugh doing it). RECOMMENDED Zombie hack and slash game!
