Dead Rising 2: Off The Record marks the return of original protagonist Frank West in an expanded version of Dead Rising 2. The game serves as a `what if' scenario, where he covers the Fortune City outbreak instead of Chuck Greene. As such, this isn't considered canon in the Dead Rising timeline. However, its more substantial than a mere expansion, with new combo weapons, psychopaths, a brand new area called Uranus Zone and a free roam mode, which removes the restrictive timer of the main game. The story is also reworked significantly, changing characters and their motives in reaction to West's involvement. The plot sees Frank West become a celebrity after the Willamette outbreak. After squandering his fame and fortune, he hopes to regain his place in the spotlight by taking part in TK's controversial game show Terror is Reality. Travelling to Fortune City to take part in the event, West soon realises that larger events are in motion that will help him `get back in the game'.Overall, this is much funnier due to West's sarcastic nature and amusing one-liners. In comparison, it highlights how dull Chuck Greene actually was. Whilst players of Dead Rising 2 will be immediately at home, weapon and magazine locations have been craftily moved. This is a smart decision which avoids complacency for veterans of the previous game. Technical improvements are obvious too. There are substantially less glitches and bugs, loading times are also greatly reduced. As a result it's much less of a chore to travel around the open world of Fortune City. Even small changes improve gameplay. For example, Frank has a hands-free device as opposed to Chuck's walkie-talkie, allowing the player to defend themselves whilst receiving a call.Photography makes a triumphant comeback, and adds a further layer of variety to proceedings. Categories include horror, brutality, outtake, erotica and drama, with points earned from a photo adding to the player's total experience. As before, the player ranks up during play, which is capped at level 50. Upon levelling up, Frank will usually gain a new combo card, attack move, or attributes will improve. For example, movement speed may increase, or an additional inventory slot will be gained. This means the game is most difficult during the first few hours of play, where Frank is weaker and only a few items can be carried. The new area, ridiculously titled `Uranus Zone' is a theme park which fits naturally into the map. Its involvement in the main story is limited, but can be freely explored during `Sandbox', the free roam mode which lets the player ignore what time it is and do their own thing without fear of repercussions. 30 challenges are scattered around the map, and involve meeting kill/PP requirements or collecting/consuming items within a time limit. They are a nice addition, and can also be completed with another player online. Money, experience and key items carry over between game modes. So if a vehicle key is purchased and unlocked in Sandbox mode, it will then be available during Story mode. The only thing which does not transfer is the player's inventory. It's a nice touch which links the package together in a cohesive way.In terms of trophies, Off The Record is easier than its predecessor, as they unlock naturally and there's much less grinding. Players who hated the 72,000 kills from Dead Rising 2 probably won't look forward to racking up 100,000 kills in this instalment. But with no time limit, this is a much easier challenge, and can be worked on gradually during Sandbox mode. Getting 8 survivors into a vehicle will require some form of strategy, as will not consuming any meat, dairy or alcohol during the main game. Terror is Reality; the competitive multiplayer from Dead Rising 2 has sadly been chopped. And it would have been nice to see Survival Mode return from the original game. But on the whole, this is the definitive version of Dead Rising to date.

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is more of the same zombie mutilation that we've mashed our way through in the previous 2 titles, but hey, that sounds brain-tastically brilliant, right? Well, lemme tell you, it sure is!Off The Record is a re-imagining of the story in Dead Rising 2, where alcohol chugging gambler's paradise is overrun by zombies and you must uncover the culprit behind the unexpected outbreak. This main story remains pretty much unchanged, but this time you play through it as fan favourite Frank West, rather than the dull Chuck Green.A bunch of new weapons, survivors and events have been thrown in to spice things up a little this time around, but I guess some could complain that it is a tad too similar to Dead Rising 2. But for those like me, who played Off The Record a year after DR2, then I think you'll find it an exciting revisit to Fortune City. The game is full of hilarious and outrageous moments and they're made that much better having West's sarcastic commentary on the shenanigans that are ensuing. Dead Rising has never been known for its deep or moving storyline, and that's fine! This is all about the crazy missions and all the fun you can have exploding, slicing, dicing, golf-balling the zombies to death.Live out your zombie fantasy in Fortune City!

I placed the pre order for this game and Forza 4 about a month ago, and to be honest Amazon your service is brilliant it arrived on day 1.The game: As I am big fan of the zombie genre, I thought I give this ago. As Dead rising was never a serious game it adds that comic relief, which so many games nowadays are far to serious.PROS:SANDBOX MODE- As in the original and second installment,Capcom always stressed that this game was a sandbox game, but when on missions for some reason you would always have that pissing timer in the corner- thus making you rush around and not being able to explore at free will. But now you can.FRANK WEST- The reason Frank is back because in my opinion Chuck's character was abit wooden not as cocky or wisecracking as his predecessor.URANUS ZONE- New areas great for more explorationCONS: Personally I don't like writing about the negatives and besides I didn't see any worth moaning about and I'm not going to start here.CONCLUSION:If you are a Dead Rising fan then buy it. The game is great and the service was superb thanks Amazon.Dead rising 2 off the record is a great game

I was realy impressed with dead rising 2 off the record, even though it is only a what iff story of the original dead rising 2 game it is still fun in its own way some people may say that it is just dead rising 2 with frank west but it has allot more added to it and has had many things changed such as new combo cards and phyco's along with the new area uranus zone which is realy fun for killing the zombies on the rides and driving the new vehicle the clown car. The sandbox mode was a good realy fun add feature to the game replacing the terror is reality mode from dead rising 2, the challenges in sandbox mode were realy fun to do and some were realy challenging and you could put a couple of hours into doing them all.overall dead rising 2 off the record is a great game which you could see your self putting many hours into just from finishing the game and if you enjoy getting achievment you would see your self putting allot of time into trying to get them all so if anyone is thinking of buying this game then you should.

*** DISCLAIMER ***This review represents MY sole opinion regarding the product.+ Original Dead Rising character Frank West is back!+ Crazy number of weapons/items to find.+ New "sandbox" mode extends the fun.+ CO-OP mode is great with a friend.+ Added "Uranus Zone" theme park to explore.- More/less the same survivors from DR2, only different places & times.- Lack of new content may seem a rip-off to fans of DR2.A great zombie survival game for any fan with a good sense of humor. It is essentially Dead Rising 2, except you're Frank instead of Chuck and the story is mixed up here and there. Other than that, and the addition of Uranus Zone theme park, it's pretty much one big DLC.I can understand why some may see the game as a rip-off, but if you're a hardcore fan of the DR games like myself, then consider buying.

I bought this for my boyfriend; the graphics are pretty good and it's rather addictive. I think it could be better if you could actually go outside the shopping mall and have a good drive around the streets too, but all in all it's pretty good! It's quite gory... which we like and there's plenty to do. There's an option to complete missions; saving people from zombies and what not, but sometimes if you just fancy freeplay, running around and killing, then you can opt for that. I like the way you can make use of the surrounding resources; bikes, pots, chairs, shop stock, etc, and you can purchase weapons, find things to kill zombies with and combine them to create better weapons.I'd say it's worth a buy!

Being quite unfond of Gears of War and all other bloody games, I found this one in the Xbox magazine. It had good reviews so I bought it.The gameplay is smooth, and the picture-taking is fun too. I constantly play on the Sandbox Mode, a mode where you can do whatever the hell youl like, complete challenges and what have you.My friends were impressed; and to an extent, so was I. This game is pointlessly bloody really, but it makes a change from the sports and other fighting games I play.Overall, good. Not perfect - graphics could be improved - but overall good.

You can say that the game itself is not fun, the fun part begins when you stop playing the game, free roaming or fooling around is the joy here.Sadly its a small modify to Dead Rising 2, so if you have tried the previous game, this is sadly not a to huge difference. Some new areas, a new character for the story mode, probably a different story as well. Most small events, zombies and the area you are in is the same. Its a directors cut game more or less.Normal delivery time, not to fast, but not slow.

Once you have completed the game a few times it will become boring you have a number of different side missions to do like the other dead rising games and off the record is the game dead rising 2's other account of the game being told by Frank West as we all know from dead rising. You can make a number of different weapons which some are comical and some are deadly you will enjoy this game if you enjoy the other dead rising games

I have played deadrising 1 and 2 but this one is my fav its got more combo cards and that means more fun and your playing as frank west again and that means you get to use his camera I have taken pics of me and my bro doing crazy stuff in coop and you now have the awsome sandbox mode were you or you and your friends can run around and do what you like and they have given you some challenges to do as well.

This a fun game of the zombie killing variety. Killing zombies is an ideal way to de-stress in these stressful times and there is plenty of scope with different game endings and with free play.Alot of this game is recycled from the original Dead Rising 2 with a different central character (Frank West from Dead Rising). The game features a new zone and a few new combo weapons.

8.11.2011

The game is a lot of fun, although after a while you can get quite bored of just constantly fighting zombiesIf you have Dead Rising 2, then you would see it is almost the same as this game with just a few twistsSo,unless you are a dedicated fan of this series, I'm not so sure there is a point to having both

10.6.2012

I bought this as a gift for someone. I've been told that it is a good game with more features than Dead Rising 2. I completed DR 2 but after that I thought it was a tedious game, very repetitive but if you like decapitating tens of thousands of zombies then you will like the game.

24.11.2011

its a cool remake from dead rising 2. know you can play as chuck, there is a new area too, the story is changed a little bit and you can make photos again.i think its more like a dlc than a new game. but for the price it is a super game for those who doesn t have dead rising 2.

7.11.2011

enjoying it,can play 2 different games and save all what you earn on sandbox and take into main game.this can give you a good start in the main game.some fantastic costumes to get changed into and new weapons.there is a new section called uranus park,a small amusement park.
