So I got the Xbox One a year and a half after it launched, waiting for the inevitable larger hard drive to be released. I was excited about Ryse when I first saw it during it's E3 debut and was super excited for it. Loving Rome in general I was happy to see a game set in that time.So to begin, even having been a year and a half out, this game looked incredible. The story is actually quite fitting of a Roman tale, that of reclamation for dishonor. Back to the graphics, this game is something else. Crytek did what they do best, making a game with suburb graphics. The settings are also all unique, each chapter is a new setting, my favorite being Trial by Fire, the third chapter. They have fun with the scope,making everything really large and dramatic. Everything is beautiful and impressive.Some people had a problem with the combat, siting it gets repetitive quickly. This is true to an extent, however I never really got tired of performing the incredible executions. All of them are brutal and as you play you feel like a beast. There are four different modes to fight in, one that gets you EXP faster, health faster, focus faster or one allows you to do more damage. The game has a block, parry, strike flow to it, the more you multiplier goes up the more you are rewarded. There is an upgrade system that allows you to improve all four styles not only for damage and reward, but also you are able to unlock new executions, making the quick time combat system not seem as repetitive. You eventually get to unlock double executions. There are also parts where you team up with a small squad and give commands to them for a duration of each level, which mixes it up.The combat is this games biggest draw and weakness however. Crytek did excellent at making combat feel heavy, brutal and beastly, but it does have it's limits. I also wish the game was a bit longer and got to explore more of Rome. However that being said, the game is an excellent exclusive and for 25 bucks or less, it's a must have for any Xbox One owner in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this game.. I found nothing wrong with this game, and I thought the story line for the most part was great. I said most part, because I couldn't stand how it ended. First game I completed on my Xbox One.I'm going to go into a little more. Like I said, the story line in my opinion was strong, just pay attention, it's really good! Now I will admit there were times when I wanted to throw my controller, because you have to time attacks right, or when you go to fight a boss and you think you have him down.. only for him to split into 6 other characters that you must defeat, I had words coming out of my mouth that should not have been coming out. So there are some difficult parts.But like I said, really enjoyed this game and couldn't put it down. The graphics were spot on and the story made it even better. I did have to google the last part though because I couldn't figure out what to do. It was simple, just need to pay attention.Very well done game!!

The game is pretty impresive, the combos become a major way of progression in the leveling up of your character so be sure to get your timing down.I recommend starting out on Recruit difficulty, I am the type of gamer that plays all my games at the most difficult avaliable difficulty as to offer a true challange,in Ryse you level up much quicker by playing on the easiest settings to begin with,it also takes a mission or so to really get your timing of your combos down to earn the highest possible points for combat.Pay attention during training you will need to utilize all you are taught throughout the entirety of the game,goodluck soldiers.

Much better game than the reviews suggest! Graphics are wonderful and unique environments are fun to play through. My only complaint is that the campaign is way too short. I only play a few hours on the weekends and occasionally on a weeknight for a few minutes. At this pace, it typically takes me a month or 2 to finish a game, but I ripped through this one in about 2 weeks I think. If you are a serious gamer who has the time to play for more than an hour or 2, you could definitely play through this in a single sitting. I would love to see a follow up to this or even some additional DLC's to the main campaign.

A pretty decent game. Sure the gameplay is a bit shallow, but its the best looking game on next gen platforms. I played this in november of 2015. Better looking than anything else on xbox or ps4. The story is actually really good too. It's an under rated game. Considering its a launch game, you have to cut it some slack. It's basically just a "run around and kill everyone" type game. With combat thats like the batman arkham games.

Game is pretty good to OK. But, it's better bought used. I bought it on Amazon for $8. It made buying one of the Add-On packs in the game ($20) an "OK" buy because then the game still ran me less then $30.I normally despise games with tons of inbuilt buys, but combined with buying the game very cheaply, a single round of in-game buy makes it much more fun... and still spent less than this originally sold for.

Love anything roman and I bought an xbox one just to be able to play this game. This game is amazing, sure it can be a little repetitive but everything else about this game overshadows that aspect. The gameplay is great the graphics are great and so is the story line. As soon as I finished the campaign I started a new campaign right after. Would recommend this game to anyone!

I found this game to be a ton of fun. Multi-player was somewhat repetitive, but the single player story is worth it. You are a roman soldier who basically fights across Europe being a total bad ass and trying to maintain the honor of your country. Finally the graphics in this game, as you would expect from Crytek, are incredible! Definitely worth a try at current prices.

Relatively short and with some repetitive action but if you've ever wanted to embody a roman soldier this is by far the best way available to do so. The story is excellent and you get a great view into roman politics and both the passion and the hatred they caused. Graphics are some of the best available on console even though this was a day one title.

Always nice to get a game once all the DLC has been included. This was a gift for my brother and he loved being one over on his friend’s version.He has high praises for the game itself it contains excellent cinematic levels, engaging combat and entertaining storyline. Excellent for anyone who likes the Romans or warfare in general.

Good Combat and RPG game : As a launch title it did great for its intended purpose next gen graphics and gameplay, as a whole its a great game, great story telling, and combat. The one downside to it is that it is rather linear, I wish it were more open world and more free to explore. that's the one downside.

Loved this game... Sure the fighting style is a little repetitive but the storyline is so entertaining you don't really pay attention to it! If you've never tried this game i highly recommend it, beautiful graphics, better than alot of todays games sadly! Cheers mates

Graphics are awesome. Gameplay is repetative but that is to be expected when a game in on a rail system (can't wander freely around). Still a great game and has a dramatic story so I dig it. Nifty addons to the game available too if you are into those.

The opening sequence is a little cheese dick but the game is OK. the Idea is great. gameplay is pretty good. But the plot and writing i felt like wasn't nearly add good as it could have been

Solid game with a short overall playthrough as expected - legendary edition not worth the extra price as I'm still not really sure what was included with it even after completing the game
