I'm 49 and this is the first time in my life that I've ever used hair dye.Previously I'd always just kept my hair very short, almost shaved, to conceal the grey hairs. Well, not conceal as such, maybe not emphasise as much. But I thought I'd give it a try. Most of my female friends dye their hair, in fact most women seem to dye their hair, and if the worst came to the worst I could always just shave it all off and start again.I must confess that I was slightly alarmed by the list of chemicals on the box, but I went ahead with the test patch and that came up fine. The application process itself was surprisingly easy and straightforward, though I'd recommend that you have someone help you as it's virtually impossible to see all the hairs on the back of your head, so some will get missed as a consequence. The solution didn't drip everywhere, didn't smell too overpowering and didn't dry out my hair horribly. It was quick too, only five minutes then wash it all out.I was quite impressed with the results, though I did look rather alarmingly like Steven Seagal at first which is never a good look. No one has really said anything and I don't really feel any different, but the colour has faded somewhat in just a week and does look more natural now.I've given this product four stars for two reasons:1. I don't think it will last six weeks, four would be a good result, though I do wash my hair every day. And nearly eight pounds every four weeks, if you want to maintain the illusion of course, isn't particularly brilliant value for money, though that's probably far cheaper than having it done professionally.2. Nothing changes inside: you are still the age you are, you are still the person you are. If you've got bags and wrinkles and laughter lines, then hair dye isn't going to change that, though at least it's not the Pandora's Box of cosmetic surgery.I would still recommend it though just to try it, see if you like it and whether it would be something you'd be happy to do long term. I can't be bothered and don't mind being the age I am or the shape I'm in, but I'm glad I gave it a whirl.Derek

I have used just for men hair colour for years but recently I was experiencing coppery orange hair that was quite frustrating. I researched into this product and discovered a method to avoid the copper effect and here it is:Get your hair cut a day or so before you use this product, get as much old copper hair cut out as you can. Wash your hair the day before you apply the product and do the allergy test just to make sure you are not allergic to the current batch, and don't put any grooming aid into you hair, and avoid anything that could make your hair sweaty and greasy. Choose a shade darker than your normal hair, I have medium brown but I found the warm colours turned my hair copper,so I opted for the dark brown/black. Then apply the product as stated in the instructions, the best type of product to go for is just for men shampoo in hair colour (I tried the autostop but I just got copper!) leave the product on the hair for a minute less than stated in the instructions otherwise it will turn too dark, (I used about 4 minutes) then rinse off in the shower thoroughly, using warm but not hot water. The instructions state you rinse then shampoo, but my hairdresser told me not to do this as the shampoo can strip out the colour before it has had time to bond to the hair properly, so rinse only. Then towel dry your hair. I did not shampoo my hair until about 48 hours after I had applied the product, and I used a standard colour protector shampoo. And I don't have copper hair! Yay!

I'm a young 40 but started going grey quite early on - from around 35. Fortunately I think the salt and pepper look works quite well for guys, but I am starting a big new job and wanted to make a professional impression. The opportunity to use hair dye was quite exciting for me, although I was sceptical about the results looking plasticky and fake.Application was easy - the formula was non-drip, and the hardest part was starting a timer with the gloves on! The formula had no (negative) scent, and I lathered it in to my head carefully so that I didn't splash the chemicals around the bathroom. I strongly recommend applying some Vaseline or similar to the skin near the hairline as I had to do a bit of scrubbing to remove my over enthusiastic overspill to stop my skin being dyed!So,5 minutes in, shampood out (note there is no conditioner in the box like ladies get!), and I was done. I dried it out with a hair dryer, and I have to say I'm extremely pleased with the results. After a day or so I can see that I can still see the grey hair, but it's nicely brown now, and almost the same as my natural hair. So it's toned and tinted the white almost to my natural shade (dark brown), but still faintly noticeable. All in - very pleased. Easy application, no spill or mess, no horrible smells, and results: about 95% satisfactory. But I'm more than happy that those are per expectations of the product.

So, I bought both kinds of Just for Men. Both in medium brown and I have dark brown hair. There's so many conflicting opinions out there that I didn't know which would be best so I decided to try both.I used the Autostop one first. I put conditioner all around my hairline because this protects against dying your skin, apparently, but I don't think it's necessary. It seems to wash of skin straight away. I didn't use the comb since I have stray greys all over and would need full coverage anyway just to get them all. I don't have a lot of grey, just plenty scattered all over. I put in on and lathered it in using the provided gloves. Waited 10 minutes and washed it off. Hardly any difference.I have minimal grey and it didn't even catch those with a full dye.Later, I tried the original formula. I did the same thing except I needed to mix the formula.. which is as simple as pouring one bottle into the other and shaking it until it's mixed, easy. Full cover, waited 5 minutes and washed it off. It covered every single grey.TL/DR: This product works. Do not buy the Autostop formula instead. They are the same price and the original formula takes less time... and actually WORKS.

The stuff works,i did not tell anyone I had dyed my hair but they just said i looked well and slimmer in the face.I am a white guy but and as I got older my hair turned black and envied for it I had an Italian thing going girls loved it.Then got old hit 50 gone mainly grey.Grey hair worked for George Clooney but not if he was working stacking shelves. To the old single guys this is how you do it.Order a shade close to your own hair colour put petroleum jelly just around your hairline and around your face behind your ears and neck .Dont worry too much because the stuff does not seem to drip,in fact i did mine when i came back from the pub.Now do the instructions and rub in like shampoo dont missthe back, make sure all the hair is wet.Wait four minutes and then jump in the shower wait till there is no colour in the shower and wash with your shampoo. Now you might feel self conscious about your new appearance but nobody really notices they just think you look well.Go on shave a few years of your cv they are not allowed to ask how old you are anway. I wish you all the best.

I used this product a few years ago when my hair was quite short and it worked perfectly. My hair is now shoulder length and after noticing that it was virtually grey all over, I decided to try it again. Happily, I can say that it works just as well. There was enough product to cover all of my hair, despite it being as long as it is, and there was 100% coverage of all the grey- which was vast! Reading reviews on here saying it doesn't work, I suggest those people are not mixing the 2 bottles properly- you have to shake the mix quite vigorously for several seconds to mix it. Also I have seen reviews from people reporting skin burns and/or redness. I suggest these people did not perform the allergy test prior to using it on their hair.It is written all over the instructions and on the packaging that if you haven't used the product before, you should perform the allergy test as some people can have a severe reaction to the colouring agent. If you buy this from Amazon, check the price! You will probably be able to buy it cheaper from your local supermarket or chemist.

Quick and easy to use, just mix and lather-in, works within 5 minutes then wash out in the shower.Gives me a natural even looking colour, looks just like my own natural hair colour even in daylight and lasts until my hair needs to be cut when used with colour care shampoo and conditioner. I have a small amount of grey hair and Just For Men Original Formula covers them all. It is also important to me that it doesn't take a long time to use. Just For Men Original Formula covers my grey hairs better than Just For Men Autostop and takes less time. The supplied gloves aren't very good, they don't fit well and can get dye everywhere. I use vinyl gloves instead. They could supply a better quality pair of gloves instead of the plastic capsule that they come in.To prevent staining of the skin apply petroleum jelly around hairline and ears before use. This is described in the instruction leaflet but only in the frequently asked questions section.Pros: fast, easy, good resultsCons: poor quality gloves, could be cheaperI would recommend Just For Men Original Formula.

Just For Men Original Formula comes in 8 shades. Everybody can find the most suitable and natural look. It is very easy because Just For Men has an online shade selector tool. I ordered medium brown and the colour is really natural. It does not look artificial or feminine. If you do not know he has dyed his hair you would not tell. The application process is extremely easy and quick. It was really designed for men. You have everything in the box, what you will need. You mix only two components (colour base and natural colour developer) in the applicator tube. Use plastic gloves to gentle massage product into hair. It is normal if the colour looks different from the final result.Wait 5 minutes and just shampoo your new hair in the shower. The result is unbelievable: beautifully natural colour and thicker, fuller hair. Now you look and even feel 10 years younger!Just one advice from a woman: use shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. It helps to save healthy looking colour for longer.

I have given this 5 stars as there is no better option out there. I have used this product now for 15 years and I highly recommend it. I have tried all other options out there but the just for men shampoo in product is the best if you want to kill off the greys. The best results hold for 2-3 weeks but I usually re-do it every 4-6 weeks. I have light to medium brown hair and find that using the light brown gets it just right. On the temples and roots where I am the greyest I apply it and make sure it is completely covered, leaving it for anything between 5-10 minutes. After that I apply the rest of the product over the whole head, lather it in and leave for another 5-7 minutes.I do this to get the shade I am first of all and to defeat the greys in the stubborn temple area and this method is 99.9% effective which is the best you can hope for unless you pay through the nose to get it done professionally. As I said I have been using this product for 15 years and it has never let me down.

I use this once in a while and as I usually have very short hair I can get at least four goes from a pack. When you first rinse it out it can look like nothing happened but some further developing effect occurs over the next several hours. You can see some colour remaining for up to about two months. The slightest splash overlooked on bathroom surfaces can be difficult to remove after a few hours. Also beware you don't leave some on your ears or whatever but just being careful to rinse off thoroughly after the set time - about five minutes - seems to be OK no need to use an kind of barrier where you don't want it.They would have you test for adverse reaction before every use, this seems an OTT reaction to being sued in the past but you really should test the first time then perhaps just monitor any change in reaction in following uses.It is quite a strong chemical and you are 'aware' of it on your scalp for a day or two after even after washing out

the colour is very natural my hairdresser coudnt believe i had dyed my hair! However the colour is 'much' darker than i thought it would be i left it on slightly over the 5mins instructions - i would now rinse it off in the shower after just 4mins? on my hair to give a better blend in to my hair colour its more like a Dark Brown to my eyes maybe its just my hairs reaction but its to dark for me.from my experiance the higher the 'H' number the darker the dye is so im now trying the 'H20 Ash Brown' which looks to be correct for my naturaly light brown hair - the Med Brown H35 is way way to dark my hair went a whole shade darker it was noticable very.overall a really good product that i like and will keep using this once you find the correct H number!i re-dye my hair around 4 or 5 weeks before the natural growth of my hair shows any grey appearing ( a 5min chore quickly applied and finshed

Having started to go grey at the age of 25 I’ve used all the products over the years. I’ve used this full dye before. I’m now 39 and was using touch of grey before lockdown which is great it you’re worried about people noticing as it builds up over a few applications.Working at home and now being grey all over I thought what the hell I’ll use the full dye again. It’s gone darker than I remember it previously. Concerned colleagues will notice even on Monday’s Zoom call! You might want to to try 4 minutes if you’re light brown. Coverage great and better than I remember though, so maybe they’ve improved it.My white pillow case is looking distinctly pale beige 2 nights later which is a concern.I’ve washed my hair thoroughly. Never noticed that with any JFM products before. Don’t let this out you off, just don’t use your white bedding for a week or so!

I have used the original JFM for a few years now (cough cough), but I noticed that the formula had changed to make it less viscous when shaking the mix. At first I thought the batch was wrong but eventually I realised something had changed - and it wasn't me. However, the stuff worked, but some re-application was necessary for stubborn areas. The only downside was that sometimes I ended up too dark (but not tall and handsome unfortunately).I then decided to try the ''new, new, new'' auto-stop stuff with the silly tube and teeny brush applicator - but never again. The stuff does not apply uniformly and for the first time I ended up with large patches of uncoloured hair - particularly at the back where you cannot see and someone then says with some hint of glee,''you are going grey at the back!'' No brown stuff Sherlock. Keep to the non-autostop JFM.

Followed the instructions and it worked fine.I am 50 and I had literally tones on grey hair, all over and particularly on my sideburns and infront of my ears.I never realized just how much grey until I used this.Works brilliant, immediate results. If you have a lot of grey hair and have been used to it then it can be a bit of a shock. At first I wondered if it were too dark but checked older photos and the colour is right....its just grey lightens your overall tone and so its a bit of a shock when you are finished. Not it has settled feel and look younger. When it says work on the areas that are worse giving them special attention it means it.I was even all around but my right front side was worse than others and I had to retreat that little area because I was initially too casual, not the products fault - mine. Will definitely buy again.

Was a little optimistic about using the product but the results are great. I found it took around 20 mins in total to use the product but that will be down to never applying anything like this before. The smell wasn't as overwhelming as the hair dye my wife uses but still has a strong smell. Mixing was easy using the supplied tub and application was relatively easy although I was a bit nervous! Left on for 5 minutes as advised then showered off and immediately noticed I had got some on my skin around my beard! This did come off but took a bit of patience! The vast majority of the grey had been covered, more than expected and I'm sure the next time I use the product it will be better as I won't be as nervous using it.Overall it was something I shouldn't have worried about, I have been happy with the results and will definitely use it again.
