After lightening my hair to about a 7 in the darkest areas and a 9 in the lightest (my roots were probably a 9 after toner), I applied Mystic Heather to my hair. I did not dilute with conditioner (like some people do in many tutorials I've seen), I used the full strength dye.I have really thick hair a couple inches or so past my shoulders and I needed 2 pots to cover my head, but 3 would have been better since I missed some spots. After bleaching my poor hair was thirsty and it basically drank up all the color. I let it process for 30 minutes and then washed it. I love how it looks. I do need to go over it again to fix the bits I missed, but I love it. The color came out more pinkish than purple, but I like the color. My suggestion: Pay close attention to the instructions and watch Tish and Snooky's video on manicpanic dot com. Make sure you get the hair color frothy. If you can, use your hands to touch your hair to be sure it's not dry in areas that might get clumped together. Sectioning it off in small bits helps with this if you have a lot of hair. Buy more color than you think you will need, in case you miss a spot and need to go over your hair again.I added photos. For some reason the front of my hair processed differently than the rest and I tried to show that. The diptych photo is my hair in natural light right after coloring.----Edit!I wanted to come back to my review to let you know how the color has faded and some other tips I have found out. Hopefully this will help the next person looking for info. I found it very difficult to find reviews and help for Mystic Heather. So after my review I touched up the areas that I had accidentally missed, and then let it fade for a little over a month. On the top where my roots are, the color stayed purple-y, it just got a bit lighter. On the length, it faded down to a pastel pink. On the darker areas that had processed to a 7 and had some orange-y tones, the hair turned that really pretty rose-gold color that it getting popular now. I was pleased with that. In the areas that I'd managed to get down to a 9 the color turned a silver-y pink. All over, it looked like a pastel pink and purple ombre.I shampooed as little as possible with the help of dry shampoo. My hair and scalp is naturally very dry and I live in a dry climate so I can go about 2 weeks without my hair looking or smelling bad as long as I keep it clean and maintained. I don't usually go that long between shampoos, but if I do it helps my color look better for longer.I shampoo my hair like this: I take conditioner (usually a thick deep conditioner) and put it on my ends and length. The I take as little shampoo as I can and use that at the roots, then rinse. Then I go back over that with more conditioner.I recently touched up my color and this time I left the color on for almost 3 hours instead of 30 minutes and it turned my hair a deep purple. Almost eggplant/aubergine color but a little more pink. I love it and I think it looks great. The darker color is helping to disguise my dark dark roots. My roots are very dark chocolate brown and I have a tiny bit of grey. The purple barely affects the roots and grey but it does blend in and make the roots look a little less unsightly. I'm trying to go as long as I can between touching up my roots so anything that helps is a good thing. Now when I color my hair, I allow myself 2 days to do it. Because I always inevitably miss a spot. I don't know about anyone else but I have a lot of hair and I'm not a professional colorist so somehow I end up missing something somewhere and I don't see it until I'm done and the hair is dry. So I buy 3 pots and use the first 2 on the first day to cover my whole head (I do my length first because it takes longer to process than the roots. By the time I am done getting my length covered, they've already been processing 15-20 mins when I get to the roots) and then dry it and take note of the spots I miss. Then I use the 3rd pot to color the bits I forgot about and leave it on the same amount of time as the first.I rinse in the coolest water I can stand (if you stick your head in the tub or sink instead of showering, you will find you can stand cooler water since its not hitting your whole body) and I put a deep conditioner over it.I have experienced much less breakage and fallout with Manic Panic than any other hair color I have ever used. Including the bleach! Usually with box dye and even salon coloring, my hair breaks or falls out badly. With Manic Panic, I have no breakage and very little fallout, other than what's normal to find on your brush or when shampooing. When I rinse out my color I might lose a couple of hairs down the drain and that's it. When I brush my hair, very little hair comes out. Before I used Manic Panic, I'd have a ton of hair in my brush, on the floor, etc. When I shampooed, I'd have fistfuls of it coming out. No kidding! Not anymore. I absolutely love Manic Panic. The color does not last long, and almost every experience is a surprise because your color depends on so many outside factors (this is the fun part for me but I know others want a result they can predict and I understand that) but I can tell that this is a much more healthy option for my hair than other color brands I've tried.

This has changed my life since I did my hair this color, the second photo is when I first did it purple ever, in face I have had hot pink hair too but this takes the cake, I love the color of it , every person that sees me , young and old absolutely love it and go out of their way to stop me at stores , or at red lights just to tell me how they love that color, I am a former Cosmetologist at a huge company, did hair and makeup this color stays the longest I have ever tried , I have tried over five different purples and I have been sticking with this one because its easy to apply, I just put it in a bowl, cover everything within ten feet of me LOL , I get shaky now that I am disabled in a wheelchair ,almost colored my little white doggy Sammy's hair when I did my roots the other day cuz someone knocked on my door thankfully I used baby shampoo and got it off his foot and belly LOL, but this really is the best , I have tried splash that you can get pretty much anywhere , that bleeds so much , I just can't deal with all that purple when you sweat , I live in Florida and I get hot easy due to meds I take this is and will be my favorite color this ultra violet color really makes you feel great about how you look, and it doesn't hurt to hear men and women telling me how much they love it and wanted to know what I used and where I got it. I got the two pack , I have very thick curly hair and with my dark hair natural I was not too sure if it would stay long even when I bleach my roots then put it on it stays a long time the only reason I have to retouch is because I have a patch of grey hair in front just where that second photo is just where that gray is , and we bleached it and put the purple on it , I leave mine on for hours though, because my hair is very very thick and really curly like a spiral curl , but I will continue using this brand and color for as long as I want to and I want to die with purple hair LOL . The best brand the best for staying power and the best for a fast clean up in case of an accident , even on furniture , use warm water with baby shampoo and It will come right off .Leave it on as long as you can for the best results . Everyone thinks I am younger than I am too and newly divorcing now it sure is nice to hear that from men and woman its fantastic stuff, I wouldn't use any other brand than this one , others don't hold a candle to this one. HAVE SOME FUN WITH IT AND DO SOME in the back too under your hair, after nearly a year the back where I did it once is a cool looking mauve ish color now, and everyone thinks I did that on purpose LOL they all love it and I do too. Manic Panic Ultra Violet is the absolute best purple you can find and the best price too. I get them for ten each on amazon, and I intend on keeping this color for as long as I can pull it off without looking crazy LOL . Enjoy it have fun with it , bleach is needed even if you have blond hair, you would want to lightly bleach your hair first just so it stays longer, and the longer you leave it in with a bag on your head the longer it lasts the less purple suds you will get and no bleeding like so many other brands , sweating in Florida with purple on your neck is not pretty LOL this won't do that to you, this stays on until it fades away , mine just now really needs the back touched up again, but I just did my hair in both these photos the first photo is of a week ago and the second one is of when I got it done in July 2018 it is now June 2019 and it's mauve now in the back a cool color stays on for a long time. I suggest leaving it in at least an hour or two. it won't hurt your hair either, it makes your hair feel super soft and silky two when you rinse it out after applying , Go for it !

This review will give info on how to convert Ultra Violet into toner for platinum hair. For that part skip to the using as a toner section. If you don't care about that and just want to know about how the dye performs on its own, here is a general review:It's definitely a 10/10 for effectiveness, but there are some things you should know before using it.1: It stains. Oh lord does it stain. It stains your hair, it stains your skin, it stains your tub, it stains your soul.Definitely wear gloves and do NOT let it sit on any surfaces or skin. If you wipe it off of your sink/tub/tile, skin etc immediately you can likely catch it before it leaves a stain. If it does stain, bleach (even hair bleach)works well on white porcelain/tile surface, so don't panic.2. Semi-permanent can be misleading. If you're using this color undiluted on bleached hair expect it to stick around for a while. On virgin hair it should fade more quickly, depending on hair porosity, but in either event, be prepared for unexpected color duration.3. Get more than you think you'll need. 1 tub might be enough if your hair is bobbed or shorter, but with shoulder length hair, I didn't have quite enough product. Get 1 tub per 6-8" of hair length, and round up the quantity.------USING AS A TONER:I originally purchased a tub of virgin snow toner and it wasn't enough for my shoulder length hair, and at the time my hair wasn't bleached quite enough for the violet-based toner to make much of a dent in the brassiness. Oops, that's my bad.Since then, I realized I couldn't really justify getting 2 more tubs per month to tone and touch up roots after bleaching. When you tone blonde hair to be platinum or "white", it is technically a very pale grey.Basic color theory states that opposite colors on the color wheel will mix to create grey. Or "cancel each other out" So when toning blonde hair, that's what you're actually trying to do. Blue cancels out orange, and violet cancels out yellow. Most purple shampoos and even permanent toners like wella t18 use a blend of violet with a tiny hint of blue to cancel out brassiness, since blonde hair, even level 10, isn't completely uniform in tone to begin with, especially with regrowth, banding, and ombre/balayage being common. So with that in mind, to tone blonde hair to platinum you can simply mix a lot of $2-$5 conditioner with a tiny bit of true violet** hair color and you'll have an easy, effective and most importantly CHEAP* toner. You can also mix it into your favorite shampoo to create a purple shampoo, though this uses more product.Just be careful not to mix too much color into your conditioner, or else you'll end up with lavender hair! I find that if I use white conditioner and mix it to resemble Pantone color 7445c, it tones my lvl 10 bleach blonde to a nice neutral platinum :) If my hair happens to have a bit of orange in there I'll add a drop of shocking blue manic panic to help cancel that out as well.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------**True violet means a very cool toned purple; a warmer toned purple like a plum or burgundy shades will leave your hair pinkish instead of neutral/grey in theory. Manic Panic's Ultra Violet is a cool toned purple.*Since the average platinum blonde has to fully tone their hair once a month (and ideally touch up roots that frequently as well), this becomes a huge savings over time, with one tub of ultra violet lasting for months. For me, as someone with shoulder length hair, that is the difference between spending $3-6 a month and spending $18-28 (manic panic varies between $9 and $14 per tub depending on when you buy) on toner.

I have gone through a range of manic panic colors: Hot hot pink, forest green, purple haze, virgin white, vampire red, midnight blue, shocking blue, etc. All the colors were great EXCEPT Raven (black). I put it in my hair and sleep with it in and then rinse in the morning. If you do multiple colors, I haven't had issues with bleeding between sections overnight as long as you section/separate well. The problem with RAVEN coloring is the consistency in the color. I have bought 3 different bottles (one from Amazon, two from Sally's Beauty) and have gotten a slightly different tint in the color each time. The first had a slight green tint and the bleached sections of my hair would not turn black (always looked a bit green). Then I got a second bottle that had a slight purple tint -- this one was great and I figured I just got a bad batch with the first one, my hair turned a nice black color. The third bottle (bought from the same Sally's within the same month) and it has a BLUE tint! Seriously... there seems to be an issue with the recipe they use.Other things for NEWBIES using manic panic (I have sections of my natural dark brown hair and bleached sections -- I leave any roots that would show around my face natural so that I don't need to worry about re-bleaching all the time).Manic panic washes out of natural hair pretty quickly (within about 2-4 weeks depending on hair and washing technique), it could leave a very slight tint to your natural color that may never quite go away. On bleached hair in my experience - green and blues stay for a very long time (and some blues I couldn't get out after weeks of trying!). Purple and pink wash out pretty quickly even with bleached hair (2-4 weeks). Manic panic is a STAIN, so it is not permanent. If you have dark brown hair, you are really just tinting it if you don't bleach your hair - so you'll end up with a darker shade of hair (almost black in my case) that shimmers the color of your choice.I've had only blue and pink on hand -- so mix them and you get purple! I've had no trouble with mixing colors of various manic panic dyes to get what I want or to create a gradient in my hair.I have had my hair stain surfaces. I usually wash the fresh dye and 1-2 times after in my aluminum kitchen sink to prevent staining of ceramic surfaces (i.e. my shower) -- if you have a ceramic sink, lay out plastic wrap over the whole sink leaving just the drain uncovered and that has worked well for me (I rent my apt, so obviously I can't risk permanent damage). ALSO, after you brush your hair and you have all this loose hair in your bathroom -- that hair can still stain surfaces! If you have some stray hairs sitting in a puddle by your sink, those wet hairs will leave a mark if they are not cleaned up promptly. Be careful with your loose hairs that they don't sit in a wet shower/sink or puddle on the ground. Sometimes I've been able to remove the marks, sometimes I haven't.Usually only wet hair transfers stains, so if you have a white pillow case and sleep with your hair wet, you will transfer some color to it (or your clothes). Usually in my experience it has washed out unless it was a pretty dark stain. I think only once I have transfer color to my clothing and it was around a turtleneck with freshly dyed hair.If you want the color to last: sulfate-free and dry shampoos are your friends. Also only washing your hair every 3-4 days. This gets kind of gross after a while though, so I have just moved on to dyeing my hair more frequently and using shampoo I like. Also, I will sometimes wash only with conditioner when I want the color to last.

Manic Panic Vampire Red Color Cream 2 Pack Classic High Voltage:I used this product for a mermaid costume (I hate wigs), and I am super happy with the results. Honestly, if work would allow me to keep this color I absolutely would. HOWEVER I super did not expect it to show up as vividly as it did on my light-medium brown hair. (Picture attached)My hair was color treated (apprx 2 months ago) with a dark natural red-ish/brown color & highlights. I expected the highlights to be bright, but this stuff showed up allover. I did not pretreat my hair in any way. Washed well with normal dove shampoo the night before (apprx 24 hrs) & did not condition. The person helping me had never used hair-dye before. That’s how simple this stuff is. I used vaseline around my hairline & on my ears to keep from dying my skin which was a good call. We poured 1 tub of the dye into a bowl & they used their hand (with a glove) to apply it all over my hair. It took quite some time to apply (maybe 45 min) due to users having no clue what we were doing, and I left it on for around 45 minutes after finishing. The consistency is great so there wasn’t any unwanted dye mess in the bathroom. I cut open a trash bag & used it around my shoulders to try to reduce mess as well. Recommend one for the floor & other surfaces just in case. I have VERY long hair, and one tub was enough. I’m glad I got the two-pack just incase, but I only needed one.I rinsed with cold water & sulfate free shampoo/conditioner. The water never “ran clear” despite rinsing for a long time so I eventually gave up. I let it air dry & slept with it in a top-knot to finish drying. I slept on a towel which was a good idea. First red picture is after taking it down the next day. No heat. No styling. No products. The color is stunning & I’m obsessed. Again though: it is WAY brighter than everything I read (reviews included) made me think it would be.I washed it last night & was honestly trying to get a good bit of the color out - to no avail. I shampooed twice/conditioned once with sulfate-free shampoo/conditioner & used hot water. After about 30 minutes in the shower the water finally seemed to run *mostly* clear, but it was not as clear as I prefer. I shower at night before bed & only towel dry so it is still pretty damp when I lie down. Again slept on a towel & this was just as important ad after it was first dyed. TONS of transfer overnight. Last picture is today after it has finally air-dryed completely. My hair still feels soft & healthy after dying. I notice all my baby hairs going wild a ton more, but that is always the case after dye.My only complaint about the product is the color transfer after washing when wet. I can’t really speak to when it is dry, but I don’t believe I had issues with it being down against my white shirt when it was dry (but I imagine rain/sweat would be a problem). I almost never blow-dry my hair so if I were able to keep this color long-term the transfer would be an issue for me.Will update as necessary. I am trying to get the color out asap & will wash with regular shampoo/conditioner & hot water plus whatever else I can think of. Sorry, employers. Not thrilled about having to wash daily until it fades & honestly a little worried the faded colors will be more offensive to the employers than the dark red.Fyi: The review asks me to rate “drying power,” and I honestly have no clue what that is. So I’m 5 starring that one for benefit of doubt.

I've used manic panic for a long time. The thing about the brand is that it's not permanent. But It's one of the better semi-permanent hair dyes out there that's not too expensive.Red colors will stick MUCH better than blue colors. Which is why when hair dye fades your hair becomes brassy (or even green yikes!). The red, yellow, and orange in the dyes linger the longest. The fade on this is pretty good. I recommend mixing it with manic panic's silver blue to help the fade be less brassy. Your fade will be more silver and less green that way.ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAIR IS FRESHLY WASHED AND NOT GREASY OR CONTAINING CHEMICALS BEFORE APPLYING THIS KIND OF DYE.I didn't wash my hair after swimming in a pool once and the leftover chlorine in my hair made the color wash out completely. Your hair needs to be clean and it needs to be dry. No grease, no hairspray, no nothing. Wash your hair in the morning, let it dry, and then add the dye in the evening.IF YOU DON'T BLEACH YOUR HAIR, THE DYE WILL NOT STICK AS WELL. Even if you bleach your hair for just 10 or 15 minutes it makes the color stick better than putting it on your natural hair. If you have a strict no-bleach policy then I hope you at least have blonde hair. Because the color will look really gross otherwise. Brown just doesn't mix with vivid colors like this. Brown makes everything else brown.LEAVE THE DYE IN YOUR HAIR FOR LONGER THAN THE RECOMMENDED TIME. I put a shower cap on and sleep in it, or leave it in for 6 hours. Some people will say it doesn't matter as long as it's over an hour. I think it matters. Leave the dye in for at least 3 hours.RINSE YOUR HAIR WITH COLD WATER AND DO NOT WASH WITH SOAP. DO NOT WASH WITH SOAP!!!! When it comes time to rinse out this dye, if you use shampoo after applying it you will notice an immediate fade. If you just rinse your hair with COLD water until the color in the water fades to pretty much clear, then you will have washed all the dye residue off. Not washing your hair for at least 48 hours after the initial rinse will help bind the color to your hair and make it fade slower. Don't skip this step. Seriously. Don't use shampoo or conditioner for 48 hours after rinsing this dye out with cold water.SPRAY IN SHAMPOO IS YOUR FRIEND.For anyone coloring their hair using semi-permanent dye, it's going to fade. And it's going to fade in proportion to how much you wash your hair. Wash your colored hair in COLD or COOL water always. Tie it up and don't get it wet if you like hot showers. Turn the shower water cold or wash it in the sink. I only wash my hair once a week. I've trained my hair and now it only starts to get oily after about the 5th day of not washing it. Your color will stay vivid and you will need to buy less hair dye if you wash your hair less. Washing your hair every day is damaging to your scalp and hair anyway.MIX THIS DYE WITH A RED DYE TO GET A LONGER LASTING DARK PURPLE. For some reason purple hair dye doesn't stick to save your life. I've tried every type of manic panic purple and it's gone after the third wash. Mix midnight blue with vampire red to get a lovely purple color. You can add developer or your choice of conditioner to the mix in order to make the colors lighter. Red to blue ratio decides if the purple is more navy purple, plum, or magenta.FOLLOW THESE RULES AND YOUR COLOR WILL LAST YOU A MAXIMUM OF 5-6 WEEKS BEFORE YOU HAVE TO REAPPLY OR TOUCH UP YOUR ROOTS.

okay it’s only been one day since I’ve dyed my hair but I’ll update this review when I’ve had it in for a while to let you know how it lasts over time.first things first, I have dirty blonde hair that has recently become lighter due to being out in the sun a lot. I also have naturally blonde highlights in my hair. my hair is naturally thinner and my hair is up to the top of my chest in length. the dye took nicely to my hair and I didn’t do anything special except put the dye in my hair (after I hadn’t washed it for a day). I left it in for a few hours, not really watching the clock (probably three hours tops) and it came out really cute.I only dyed the ends of my hair for an ombré sort of look and I also dyed a few strands of my brothers hair as well. I had pretty much 3/4 left of dye. if you’re dyeing your whole head and you have THICK HAIR I would recommend two of these at least.speaking of my brother’s hair, the dye in their hair turned out more of a maroonish color, as their hair is more of a light brown. I would look up a dye chart for this color so you can see what your hair will potentially look like with this dye. the lighter your hair, the more vibrant of a pink it will be. if you aren’t sure about this dye, do a strand test on your hair (not too much so you can cut it off if necessary). I need to have the dye gone by when school starts up for me again, which is why I didn’t dye my whole head.in terms of staining, I put the dye on my hands without gloves (rookie mistake but I didn’t have any handy). It definitely stained but from last night it’s faded a lot so you can barely see it on my fingers (it’s completely gone from my hands). you can wash them a few times and just try to get the top layer off and it’ll come off throughout your natural hand washing after that. If you do struggle taking it off, try rubbing alcohol and dish soap perhaps. I would recommend washing your hair upside down in the shower first so you can make sure the run off of the dye doesn’t splash all over and that you can make sure it mainly goes in the drain at first. then you can flip your head over. I washed my hair until the water ran clear and I had no staining or smudging on my white pillowcases, my white sheets, or my white comforter (though my hair was completely dry upon going to sleep).all in all, I think it looks pretty for summer especially and I would recommend this dye. I gave it 4/5 stars because (even though it worked well for me, my brothers’ hair wasn’t as vibrant).update:so it’s been a while and the hair dye has faded a lot (though I wash my hair every other day and I try to wash with cold water). I’ve touched it up twice because I want it to last a little longer but that’s something to take into consideration. The pink that it fades to is actually quite pretty but again, consider the longevity when you purchase this.

First of all, the color was incredibly even, and it's worth noting that I have very thick and coarse hair. I naturally have medium brown hair and I bleached to about a 8-9. This was part laziness, part minimizing damage. It felt risky not going to 10, but the results speak volumes.I spent about 15 minutes massaging it in and combing it through before putting on a plastic cover then sitting in the sun at several angles to get heat exposure to all zones. The final product was an incredibly vibrant magenta that most cameras struggled to capture. It wasn't until I used a dslr with a professional color gamut to capture it. The true color not seen here is #ff20ff. This picture, however, was taken with my phone. Both in indirect and direct light, it pops even more than shown. What this does capture is how even it is. I sent this to my hair stylist and she was blown away at how even it is. The color stay is good, but I don't wash my hair as often as most. Maybe once a week. I've used natural shampoos for years and as a result I don't produce unnatural amounts of oil like if I used harsh shampoos and conditioners that strip the life out of your hair and scalp which trick your scalp into secreting too much oil. The color is still pretty strong even though I have over an inch of roots. Even still, my lighter brown new roots actually look good with the faded color. At this point I'm 2 months into the color and it basically isn't fading fast enough for me to change up my colors. This was my first dye job and I'm blown away. I've yet to see a decent reason to switch to one of many other less expensive or "premium' or "salon" brands. Doubly so since the product line for MP is expansive. One complaint is long lingering smell weeks later if hair is at wet, and one tip is to use heat (sun works great) and to, if you want aggressive color, no color variation, and easily achieved consistency, leave this stuff in undiluted for at least 1.5 hours. If you have a normal scalp, you won't have issues. If you're sensitive, work coconut oil into your hair twice a day for two days prior to coloring to give your scalp a little protection.I have other colors from Punky and Arctic Fox and I'm tempted to skip them and go with Manic again.

Not my first time using this brand but my first time using this shade. And so far I have no complaints. Bleached hair day before and applied dye, left in for about 3 hours rinsed out with cold water. Color came out better than expected.A few tips for those that want their color to last (These aren't groundbreaking and most who dye their hair already know all this):-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! They aren't put on the jar for the company's health they are there so you can get the best results of out the product. Hell go to the brand's website they have more detailed instructions there.-Leave the dye in for several hours (some leave it in overnight.) I know the jar says 30 minutes, but that's crap 30 minutes will only do you good if you're touching up your color.-Wash your hair as little as possible (I wash mine every two weeks. Black girl with natural 4C hair) and when you do use cold water or as cold as you can stand. The color fades with each wash so the more you wash the faster it fades. I've had other colors of this same brand last for months because I wash so little. I end up changing colors because I get sick of looking at the color instead of being dissatisfied that the color faded.-You can also add some of the dye to your conditioner to help keep your color fresh.-If you want you hair to be the exact shade of the dye bleach your hair as light as possible and use toner if you must. The shade of blonde you bleach your hair to will affect how your color turns out.And to top off my review. Have realistic expectations. I read what others complain about and almost laugh. It seems like some people expect salon quality results to come outta this 4oz jar. I'm no pro at dying hair, but I've been dying my hair long enough (Since I was 12/13, recently turned 30.) to know if the color didn't turn out as expected I tend to be at fault instead of the product. I've forgotten to dry my hair completely or dry it altogether, conditioned before I was supposed to, didn't leave the color in long enough or should've left the bleach in a little longer to get my hair lighter. Yes sometimes you get crappy product. But we gotta learn to admit when we screw up.

I really wanted a temporary purple hair dye and this one works perfectly! I can go from bright neon purple, to lavender, to toned blond hair. I can have a fun break with neon hair and then go back to work two weeks later, and no one knows I had neon hair. Not only does it fade out of my hair perfectly without leaving any green pigment, it also perfectly tones my hair and takes out any brassiness, leaving me with the perfect white-blond shade I've been looking for. I have shoulder length blond hair and used this 3 times before I ran out. Granted, the first two times I used mainly white conditioner with a little bit of purple to get a nice lavender. The third time I used mainly the dye with a little bit of conditioner and left it on for about an hour. The only suggestion I have is to be careful with the dye itself. I would suggest washing your head out under bathtub faucet before taking a shower. The dye is such vibrant and will stain white surfaces if you aren't careful. If you're looking for a permanent neon dye over darker hair- this isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a temporary fun change with lighter hair- 100% would recommend. Definitely will be buying again.I included two pictures of my hair a couple days after I had dyed it and what color it was originally. (Note- it was significantly brighter than what you see in the pictures) The picture with my blond hair was a couple days after I had dyed it lavender- it faded out perfectly and left my hair white-blond. I didn't take any pictures of it while it was lavender, but it worked great! For the neon dye I used about half the container of dye with maybe 1 tablespoon of white conditioner. For lavender, I used about 1/4th of the dye to about 2/3rds cup of white conditioner for my shoulder-length hair. I would recommend leaving it on for at least an hour. USE GLOVES

I bought the amplified cotton candy pink hair colour, and was very pleased with the speedy delivery! I already had blonde highlights in my light brown hair but my roots were pretty awful, so I bleached my hair until it was a pale yellowy/creamy colour. There were a few orangey patches where some of my darker hair was too. I then used a purple toner on my hair which worked wonders and got most of the brassyness out.I applied the Manic Panic dye to BONE DRY HAIR which had been shampooed only. My hair is around chest-length, and I only just had enough dye to cover my hair (a few patches remained slightly uncovered) so I advise that for hair longer than shoulder-length you should buy two tubs. After applying, I left the colour on my hair wrapped in a plastic carrier bag, and kept it on for around 4 hours. I advise that you leave the colour on for AT LEAST 3 hours to let the colour sink in, although some people have recommended leaving the product on your hair overnight. There is no peroxide in this hair colour so it will not damage your hair.I took the plastic bag off my hair and rinsed the colour off under cold water, and towel dried it. When my hair was completely dry, it looked lovely! It was a MUCH brighter pink than I had expected but this will wash off in time. Where I had highlights before it looks as if I have paler pink highlights running through my hair which looks beautiful and I have had many compliments! As I have said, it was extremely bright so bear in mind this colour will definitely attract attention! Try not to wash your hair every day, and if your hair is not very oily you can probably get away with washing it every 3 days or so. Wash with cold water as this maintains colour, and try to only use shampoo to prolong thr colour.Overall a brilliant product, but next time I'll have to remember to buy two!

TL;DR:Bleach your hair beforehand and it'll stay bright for about 4 weeks. Longer/heavier hair, use maybe 2 tubs of manic panic. Get a hair mask (and some hair oil) if you can if youre bleaching your hair because it'll dry out from shampooing.I have naturally dark hair (not black, the other half is also dyed), so I bleached mine withhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B013BL5Y4G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I used two boxes of bleach for the one side of my head (I have very thick hair), and once that was done I used the entire tub of manic panic. On the first day, the picture here, it's very very orange. I love it, though I havent tested its UV/blacklight colour yet.Over the next few days of washing your hair it will fade to a yellow colour (your shampoo will be tinted yellow, very fun). In some areas it can turn a yellow/green colour (I love it personally). I would say I'm about 4/5 washes in, so roughly 2-3 weeks since I dyed my hair and coloured it, and it still is very orange at my roots and a soft orange-yellow from midway to the ends of my hair.I would say, if you're like me and have very thick hair or have a lot of hair to cover, I would suggest 2 pots rather than 1. I found that with the first pot I was running out, so the ends of my hair are a bit lighter than my roots, and my ends were the first thing to turn into a yellow. Also, if you bleach your hair like mine, I would also advise using a hair mask and hair oil to really help nourish your hair. I use a deep conditioning hair mask for my entire head and leave in it a bun for about 10-12 minutes every time I wash my hair, because as soon as you wash your hair with shampoo it can become very very dry and staw-like. I also use some hair oil (such as coconit hair oil) when Im drying my hair to add in that extra bit of softness.

I've never colored my hair. It is long and a color I like so I guess I got lucky with hair. I've always been afraid to mess it up..my hair isn't a color I could just dye back if I didn't like it.I have medium brown hair with a lot of blonde and red, and I wanted to boost the red. I started looking at color depositing shampoos, but concluded a semi permanent dye might be better. I saw the Manic Panic pictures of black hair tinted blue so I thought I'd give it a try.The pictures here are taken the day after my strand test on unprocessed hair (no bleach or whatever - I don't even know what the words are haha). The honey/amber color is my natural hair and the pink/red is Manic Panic Wildfire Red.I did two strands, one for 2 hours and one overnight after heating with a straightener - no difference. So at least for me, I got maximum initial coloring after 2 hours. As some other reviews mentioned, the lighter ends (3rd picture) took more color, but on my hair it did pretty well in the middle also (1st picture).I probably won't do any more with Wildfire Red because it came out a little more pink than I wanted. I ordered Psychedelic Sunset, and I'll repeat this process with that. Now that I know it does what I want, my next concern is that it actually washes out completely and that my hair looks as it did before. I'll update this post when I have an answer to that! Also - a lot of comments on how messy it is. At least with the strand test I had no issues. I used nitrile gloves and wrapped the pieces with saran wrap that I held in place with small rubber hair bands. Rinsed in the stainless steel kitchen sink and (since they were just strands) blotted dry with paper towels. No pillowcase issues, didn't breach the gloves, didn't stain my clothes etc. Not sure what will happen when I wash it the first time, haha!

I've been dying my hair with Manic Panic "Wildfire" for years now and nothing else I've tried really compares. The color is closest to an Ariel red or fiery red-orange. It is definitely vibrant, and I get compliments on it in public all the time, but it's also the closest thing to an "unnaturally" bright color professionally permitted for me to have at work.My natural hair is a dark auburn, so I do have to lighten my hair beforehand on occasion between colorings - Manic's 40 Volume Flash Lightning Bleach Kit left in for about 10min does the trick for me without frying anything. Otherwise, the color goes on super vibrantly and is exceptionally easy to apply. The coverage is also fairly good,a little goes a long way. My hair is roughly just past my shoulder blades / almost to the middle of my back in length and a medium thickness, it takes one full container to cover it.The dye is also restorative in itself, which is amazing. The only damage you'll get will be from bleaching your hair beforehand, the dye itself has never caused me any problems. People are always surprised at how healthy my hair is despite how long I've kept it dyed like this. I feel like my hair is at its healthiest and softest, if anything, whenever I'm using Manic Panic dye versus when I've went without it or with other options. This and Nature's Bounty hair growth gummies are my lifesavers, I definitely notice the difference when I'm not using them.Tips:• Make sure you leave the dye in your hair for at least 40min. You cannot leave the dye in for too long. I usually go 45-60min.• Mix a small amount of the dye with your regular conditioner, it'll refresh the color a bit and make it last longer.• Use vaseline along your hairline, neck, ears, etc. anywhere you want to be able to more easily remove dye on your skin.

I am 43 Yrs Old I have been dying my hair weird colors since I was 16. I started out mixing koolaid hair conditioner and food coloring. That was a bit of a challenge. started using Manic Panic when I was 19. I read reviews on many of amazon's manic panic pages even artic fox's. there are a few things that could be going wrong for those dying their hair with either product. So I was writing this to per haps offer a bit of my own advice from experience. If you are bleaching your hair. Give your hair 1 day to relax and condition it after bleaching.Personally Olaplex No.1 is great however not to my experience to use the day you apply your manic panic/or preffered dyewash your hair with dandruff shampoo IE head and shoulders ..this will not strip hair the same as normal shampoodo not condition before bed is best time to put manic panic/arctic fox into your hair . wraps your head with something like seran wrap not tight obviously or use a shower cap. sleep with dye in your hair .NO it's semi perminant hair dye which means no harmful ammonia or other damaging agents.Rinse when awake . More you wash your hair the faster it will come out . Some hair types require for people to wash daily. I would keep to an dandruff shampoo. Personally I wash mine 2 to 3 times a week max and my hair doesn't fade so fast.UPDATE;it's been a month my hair has faded to a light purple.. I could probably go longer before it completely fades out.my recommendations do not pay attention to the ones who gave a bad review. Some are new and Manic Panic does not mention that the longer it is left in the longer it will last. That might solve some problems. I feel before you chose any semi perm dye to do a bit of research and make your choices by those of us who been doing this for years or a hair stylist.
