During the Covid-19 lockdown, I decided to give my (always shaved) skin a rest and within two weeks I had a reasonable beard-growing that, when trimmed, looks surprisingly good. Unfortunately, as I am 54, half of it came through grey!As my hair is dark brown, I knew I had to either get my beard to match or shave it off. I had seen a review on YouTube that said to get a shade lighter than you expect, and they were right. Even though this is Medium Brown M35 and appears on the box to be much lighter than my head hair, the finished beard looks slightly darker - but not so different as to look odd.Using it could not be easier. Squeeze an equal amount of dye and developer in the supplied tray, mix it with the handle end of the supplied brush, then brush in. Do not be tempted to mix with the brush itself, as you can end up with too much of one element in the brush, risking a sub-optimal result. The brush is very stiff so needs working into the beard but takes just a couple of minutes. It will dye your skin if you do not take care, so follow the line of your beard carefully (ideally use clippers to get your exact shape just before using the dye. If you use a wet razor to edge your beard, you must make sure the beard is 100% dry before you use the dye). Take care when applying and waving the brush around as drops will stain you nice white sink and bath!I leave it on for a little longer than the instructions say - usually 15 minutes. Then you carefully wash off the excess product. When washing, it is best to use shampoo, as facial washes can be too harsh and strip some of the dye). I top up the dye every week to 10-days, and the box has enough product that I used it five times before it ran out, so it will last nearly two months on a closely trimmed beard of around 3mm. I have been really impressed with this product and, as I am keeping the beard for a while (people keep telling me it suits me) so have ordered another kit. I hope this review is helpful.

Like many men of a certain age, I suffer from a beardy dilemma: do I leave it to go completely white (as mine is naturally) or fake it and hopefully knock a few years off my grizzly grandad fizzog? The third option, shave the thing off, isn't an option. Just for Men is pretty much the only dye for beards and moustache hair that I've found, so it's a good job it works. I've tried most variants when it comes to colour, having very dark brown hair when I had hair. I have shaved my head for at least 20 years now, so colour matching isn't a concern. Not looking like some joker with a magic marker has gone to town on my face is. For that reason I reckon the blacks and dark browns are best avoided.I tend to go for either light or medium brown, depending upon which is cheapest at the time. Then, every month or so, I apply a light brushing through of the dye and leave it to set for five to ten minutes (max). This way I don't get the painted on look, and by allowing some grey/white to streak through the whole effect is far more natural in my opinion. I've never used the supplied gloves, not really needed. I mix the solutions (they come in two small tubes that are resealable and usually last me three months, three applications as I only have a small beard these day) when I'm in the bath and only get my hands into it when I'm shampooing it off. Nice and clean, nice and easy. I've attached a photo so you can see the result I get when using the medium brown in this way, and remember that without it my beard now grows through pure white! As I say, I find that one box lasts me three applications and I only need to reapply once per month, so the value equation works out OK. I've never experienced any 'orange beard' problems, or burning etc - then again I don't go daft and leave it on for ages.

BEARD SPECS - 28 yr old male with a medium to short length beard (trimmed between 3-5 on beard trimmer - about between 5mm - 7mm approx). My beard complexion normally is absolute trash. It’s a trash weird brown, patchy with greys, with loads of ginger in my moustache...jackpot gene roll. This takes 5 mins to apply, it lasts about a week and I get about 3 applications out of one kit so have coverage for about 3 weeks total and it’s so cheap. It’s gold - good consistent colour and much fuller beard which makes trying different beard styles now a viable option. In terms of colour - when considering colours - it always comes out a bit darker than you’ll expect - so if your not sure,go for the lighter of the 2 shades you think are the closest match for u.If you’ve never tried - defo recommend.IMPORTANT - this won’t apply to everyone but I see some people saying they got skin irritation and rashes - with any product of this kind, you have to do a skin test (apply a small bit 2 ur face, wait 48 hours - if no reaction ur ready to go - if u get a reaction don’t apply it). Do not apply to ur face for the first time without testing your skin - this is common practice with any dying of hair

I've decided to grow for Movember. I spend most of the year clean shaven and never grow anything more than a rough stubble, the reason being is that my gingery/blond moustache and beard start to show and I don't think that it looks that great.I have a 4 day grow and it was getting to the point that I wanted to take it off due to the colour so researched how to dye it and if that didn't work then i intended to shave it off.In the box is instructions, gloves, brush, two solutions to mix up the colour and a mixing bowl. Apply to hair in an up and down motion after making your solution up and leave on for 5 minutes.... my blonde hairs needed a second coating.I'm really pleased with the result and happy that i have enough solution for another application (this will depend on hair length). For £6, this is the cheapest i could find available for JFM M35, I'm happy to recommend this product and will be buying again in the future.

I had read the reviews and checked out the box. I noted it said “If your natural hair colour is light brown, this is the product for you”....My head hair is blonde and my beard is a bit of brown, grey and possibly a touch of ginger in places ?. I took the note to mean beard colour. I also noted the comments regarding how long to leave it on. Having cuffed off the patch test, I rushed into the deed. I whacked it in the grey bits first and then had to mix some more. Did thus quickly and lathered it on the rest. I then waited the full 5 mins after the last bit went on. My misses’s reaction was priceless. “OMG it’s black!” I leapt into the shower and rinsed off thoroughly and on inspection in the mirror I resembled bearded action man from the adverts.Seriously dark and lots of ribbing at work later.... In hindsight I should have gone for Blonde. Take it from me, go with head hair colour and not your beard.

Luckily I’ve never experienced the allergic reaction some have reported here, so obviously caution should be followed and test first. I’ve used this a lot, it’s pretty easy to apply just don’t slather it on, if nervous apply before you trim your beard that way you can snip a bit off if the colour feels too heavy. Careful not to flick the brush or you’ll get splashed everywhere. Always worth going round the edges with a damp cloth/tissue to remove smears onto the skin and avoid dying your face. If you’ve not used before remember you can build up or top up the next day rather than full on immediately. Be careful to fully rinse off. I normally manage to get 4 or 5 applications out of a pack, this means I manage to get more of a natural finish that still has the odd bit of grey rather than a solid flat colour. Even when I’ve thought I’d gone to heavy no one has noticed so don’t panic.

Easy to mix. Easy to apply with supplied little comb. Works really quickly and not messy when washing it off like the just for men hair dye is (although I liked that to on my beard but better applying with comb that comes in this beard dye kit).Darker than expected but I did leave it on longer so as it took hold and didn’t wash straight out. Also this was a second application after applying about two weeks ago. Gradually washes out but lasts a few weeks. Not sure why other reviewers have managed to burn their skin: maybe an allergic reaction. Maybe skin test it before putting on your face. I’d say to apply it to the beard hair though and not sploge on without care and get it on your skin.Alsorecommend wearing thin surgical gloves so as not to get the colour on your hands.

This stuff really works well, I only have a very short 2mm stubble type beard and it gets grey around the chin area. When mixing the 2 tubes together i put a bit more of the brown in and that tends to make it turn more of the hairs brown. I get about 4 uses by doing the area around my mouth and chin. The biggest problem is the dye does stick to my face because the facial hair is so short, however I have discovered that if you use one of those soft generic nail-brushes from your local supermarket - the really weak bristle ones that don't actual work as nail brushes, they are perfect - put some soap on and just swirl that around the area you have just dyed and it comes off your skin noproblem.

I used this dye on my ginger beard to make it same colour as my hair (dark brown), I used half the product for my full beard which is probably just shy of an inch in length. It covered it perfectly I would call it more medium to dark brown but that was fine with me. You really couldn’t tell it had been dyed and any excess on my face relatively easily came off. After about 3 weeks it is starting to fade abit and ginger is starting to show so I’m going to use the other half and re order another as for the money it’s spot on. This was my first time ever using dye and it’s so easy to use the kit comes with everything you need.

I have brown hair but my beard grows ginger so I purchased this after doing some research , I have a medium length beard and I get 2 uses out of each box, I start with my sides and do my moustache and chin area last..as soon as I start applying to my cheek area I set a timer for 8 minutes that way by the time I get to my moustache there’s 5-6 mins left on my timer and that’s perfect any longer and my beard would look fake, my beard looks natural it’s a medium to dark brown with tiny red hairs flecked throughout which makes it look more authentic would highly recommend ?

Just draw it on like you would your makeup and wipe it off after around 5 minutes of you're brown haired and around 15 ish if you’re black haired. For me, they look so natural that people think I just look this good as well as them having lasted over a week now. My eyebrows are now the best part of my face!I recommend using like those angled eye brushes or a painters brush if you don’t have one and discard the gloves and weird brush that comes with it. I mixed it in the tray (one pea sized blob of each) and it worked perfectly!

Now I know it's not it's intended use but I was looking for a brow dye option that also tints right through to skin if you leave it on longer, and it's not bad at all. Left it for around 15 mins and several days later I still have my brows and I'm pretty sure it will last at least a week or two... maybe longer. I use a slanted makeup brush to carefully apply, wait, clean off... jobs a good 'un. Practice will hopefully make perfect. Good product at a decent price.

I leave this on for ten minutes, not five as specified on the packet. Start applying at the whitest parts of your beard and finish with the most natural colour parts with a minimal brushing. It does cover grey, but unless you leave it on for at least 10 minutes, you can somehow still see the grey as a much lighter area of the beard. It's good but don't expect miracles. Skin stains beneath the beard and will take a couple of scrubs to return to a normal skin tone.

I wouldn't usually review a facial hair dye but I did a lot of research when looking for a decent one, and here it is! Does exactly what it says! I don't have grey but I have multi-coloured facial hair - mostly brown with a bit of blonde and auburn mixed in, but this gives a natural looking brown all over - so much so that most people don't believe me when I tell them I use JFM!Leave it in longer than 5 minutes for a slightly darker, fuller shade.

After my chin hair was in danger of going the "full Roy Keane", I decided to try this. It's really good. It took two application to cover, what was serious grey/white streaks on my chin but cover them it did. The rest of my beard's wayward colours with it's few lighter browns and the odd ginger were soon sorted.Best of all it didn't look fake. It will go on your skin but it does wash off, leaving my beard looking quite young again.Recommended.
