I have used Stargazer colours on and off for a long time. Initially when I was younger they were the only unusual colours that you could buy in my very staid and traditional Bucks town and so we all bought these. The colour range was not as impressive as it is now though. Before we managed to get our mitts on Stargazer colours, we used to use electric blue and green mascara to dye the sides of our cropped heads (a bunch of us had mohicans). Additional colour could be added by growing dreads and weaving in bits of bright wool or ribbons but we were limited as to how freaky we could look. At the time I used to wear a mohawk with long dreads at the back and big spikes on top,a tie dyed wedding dress and army boots. To be honest my clothes taste is still pretty tragic but I have toned down a bit since I have got older, mainly because I have a small child and cannot be bothered with the faff of a high maintenance look. I do though still LOVE having stupidly coloured hair and I enjoy the psychedelic tramp look.I am coming up to 44 and I have lots of white hair starting to come through. Unfortunately it is not enough that I can apply Stargazer neat, I still have to bleach parts of it. My hair is very long and I am loathe to trash it any more than I already have by bleaching it all so I tend to do chunks and streaks of bleaching which means my hair is usually multi-toned. Stargazer is very effective on light or bleached hair.THE PRODUCT:Stargazer semi-permanent colour comes in a plastic tube in a cardboard box. It contains full instructions and some gloves. There are a range of truly wonderful and vibrant colours available to buy from lime green to bright red, violet to pale pink, but the ones that I have used most are the bright reds, violet, magenta and cobalt blue. I did at one point use all three colours in stripes all over my head. It looked far better than it sounds honestly....This dye is gloopy and slightly thicker than it used to be when I were a lass. This is a good thing because dyeing your hair a stupid colour will also mean you end up dyeing your skin , ears and bath so be sure that you *really* like the shade that you choose. You get 75 ml in the bottle which is JUST enough to cover my hair (focal bleached bits and a tone to the rest which is dark) but really if you have long hair I suggest that you buy two boxes. The bottle has a little silver foil seal which you remove and then replace the pointed lid. It has a special tip than you snip off with scissors and then you apply it. Sounds easy? It is. Technically. But no matter how hard you try you will make a mess. This is a semi-permanent colour and is a stain rather than a dye really. The reds and magenta tend to last a long time but the violets and blue hues are high maintenance and fade fast. A weekly top up is needed to keep the blue tones looking good. I use a residue free shampoo and something gentle like Dr Bronner's to try to make it last longer. There is no real smell to the product because it is a stain. There is no peroxide or ammonia either but then you would probably have bleached the life out of your hair beforehand if you really want your hair to stand out. There is no conditioner in the box but I use coconut oil and it seems to seal it in very effectively. You WILL need the gloves. You will need bleach to rescue your bath. At least a few old towels will be needed too and do not forget the floor... this stuff does drip.HOW TO USE IT:The box contains good and clear instructions on how to use this. I use it like this:I wash my hair with a residue free shampoo - there is no point coating the hair shaft with vitamin whatever with b6 and x, y and z if it stops the dye from staining your hair. Use a good shampoo, different to your usual one to strip your hair of products and build up. I use Lush solid shampoo (Seanik), Dr Bronner's or a Weleda body/hair wash. Do not condition your hair... again this coats the shaft. Then towel dry your hair and prepare yourself for a huge mess.If you have long hair you can section it but I find that my hair knots when I do this so I just start at the crown and work it through. If you have a parting then try to part your hair differently because this stains your scalp for a bit and you will look like a) a plonker or b) like you have a rare and fluorescent skin disease. Work it through your hair by massaging it in. Sigh as you see the tips of your ears changing colour. I usually shove a plastic bag on my head with my hair piled up under it and then leave it to do its magic. At this point you will survey your bathroom with a sinking heart. There will be blobs of colour everywhere. This is the time to bleach the bath especially if you have an enamel one. It will NOT come out of a bathroom carpet ( does anyone really still have those?) so you will be glad of the old towel that you stuck under your feet. You did remember that didn't you? Oh....MESS MINIMISING:Baby wipes are good for getting excess stain from your forehead, hairline, shoulders, ears and everywhere else that this damn stuff has sploshed. Milk helps too funnily enough. But no matter how hard you try, you will still look somewhat stained in places that really should not be that colour naturally. It does fade though... (eventually)...The box says to leave the dye on for 15-30 minutes but I usually leave it on for an hour. It is a stain remember not a proper dye. The box states that this will not cover white/grey hair but it does with me.EFFICIENCY:I have had some mad hair colours thanks to Stargazer dyes, bright blood red, cobalt, violet, magenta, bright pink.... and they really are very very bright. The bleaching makes the colour vibrant and having bright stripes in amongst darker tones of the same colour is eye-catching. The dyes vary in terms of how long that they last, as I said the blues/ purples are the shortest lived, and the reds/pinks tend to last much longer. I have managed to get the red to last 8 weeks with one top up but that was being careful and washing my hair very gently etc. The colour can be patchy if you do not massage it in enough so be careful to do that. After using Stargazer I rinse until the water is clear and then condition it. When dry my hair is shiny and soft as usual. This dye will leave a colour on your pillow, especially if you are hot so I use dark pillowcases most of the time to avoid this. I top up the colour as and when I can be bothered. If you are more fussy than me then I would do it weekly for the purple/blue/green shades and fortnightly for the reds/pinks etc but you would not have to do a full dye job, just a top up.The dye is high maintenance but so is having silly hair. Despite this (and the mess) I love the stuff and I enjoy having bright and unreasonably loud hair. I hope that eventually I go entirely white so that I no longer have to use bleach. I fully intend to be a pensioner rocking a Harley Davidson and stupid hair.DETAILS:* Stargazer dyes contain 70ml* For good results then bleach hair or pre-lighten.* Blondes do not need to bleach...* Gives a slight tint to unbleached hair but not enough.* Many are vegetarian, some are vegan* Can be mixed together with other Stargazer colours to create a unique tone.* Box contains instructions and pair of disposable gloves.* Use two boxes for v long or v thick hair.* Dyes will last up to 12 months once opened with no adverse side-effects (if securely closed after each use)INGREDIENTS:Full of junk pretty much.... all of the colours listed below are not in every dye, it depends on the colour that you choose.Aqua, Cetarly Alcohol, Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Butylene Glycol, Clyceryl Stearate, +/- Basic Brown 17, Basic Brown 16, Basic Red 76, Basic Yellow 57, Acid Violet 43, Basic Green 4, Basic Red 46, Basic Orange 2, Basic Violet 4, Basic Violet 14, Basic Blue 7, Basic Blue 9, Basic Violet 2, HC Yellow 4, HC Yellow 2, HC Yellow 1, HC Red 1, HC Red 3, Acid Red 8, Acid Green 1, Inci 12251, Inci 12250, Inci 12719, Inci 60730, Inci 42000, Inci 110825, Inci 11270, Inci 42600, Inci 42510, Inci 42595, Inci 52015, Inci 42520, HC Yellow 4, HC Yellow 2, HC Orange 1, HC Red 1, HC Red 3, Inci 10020.

Gorgeous blue, exactly as it appears on the packet but looks particularly lovely in the sun. Its incredibly strong, a little goes a long way, much further than other similarly priced brands. It is in fact the best and brightest blue ive ever used. How I use it:I mix a tiny bit with manic panic yellow to create a super vibrant lime green and ive also mixed a tiny bit with directions flamingo pink in the past to create a cadbury purple. Its a bit tricky to get the right balance for colours because you need far less than youd think so add a tiny drop at a time for a hefty blob of the other colour and continue til youve got the shade you want. Works well as a pastelised shade but again you need a lot less than you think. How long it lasts:Be warned,if you want a temporary colour and NEED to return to natural or a shade that doesnt have any blue tones then this is NOT the dye for you. It will fade but it wont disappear and it will take a LOT of effort. Its great if you are sticking with blue or can be flexible in colour later, such as switching to green or purple or growing it out or if you are very very careful and dont do it frequently you may be able to bleach it out. I just get creative with my hair colour and where the blue sections are stick to purple green or blue until its long enough to cut out.A warning about staining:It stains EVERYTHING it touches immediately. Wear gloves or be prepared to scrub your hands and paint your nails to cover the weird tint. Dont get it on clothes or your bathroom floor/sink/tiles it may never come off. It will also take a while to come off your skin so use vaseline around your hairline, old clothes/towels and a dark pillowcase... just basically protect your whole house because everything will be blue forever. In summary:I get so many compliments on this dye and ive only ever bought two or three boxes because it goes so far. Its the best value blue ive tried despite other stargazer dyes honestly being a bit poop. I only ever buy stargazer blue now, tried this and another blue and wont swap despite the staining risk.

Results were very bright and gave a much better colour than I expected.I have tried lots of dyes, but few seem to give a bright coulour if you apply to dark or darkly-coloured hair. This left a very strong coulour, much better than expected. No need to pre-bleach.Also surprizingly long-lasting. The initial brightness fades, but instead of turning the hair a horrible pale pink like some dyes do, this stays very much pink, just going gradually duller over time.MAJOR DOWNSIDE of this is that it doesn't just dye hair.I usually just put a line of vaseline around the hairline on my forehead and the back of my neck, to stop dye from leaking onto my skin and turning my face and neck funny colours, but that was no match for this stuff. The product foams up really well when you rub it in, meaning you get good coverage, but also meaning it runs - down your face, neck, arms, back, etc.DO NOT use this stuff if you have an important meeting or anything else planned for the day you use it. You will need to make sure you have at least half a day free after application, just in case it gets messy.I had to use Cillit Bang (the version with bleach!) to get it off my face. Probably very, very bad if you have sensitive skin, but I tried 2 versions of soap, 1 shampoo and 3 different make-up removers and nothing worked, so I ended up dipping a make-up sponge in 1-part cleaner and 10-parts warm water and using that to remove it from my face, neck and hands. I also had to bleach my bath, wall tiles, towels & bathmat. Also you shouldn't go out in the rain until after about 2 washes after application. Because no matter how hard you try, you won't be able to rinse the excess off in one go. You'll also be turning your bathwater pink for several weeks. That said, I've ordered more of the stuff, as it's the best I've found for giving a stong colour on previously dyed hair. I'll just have to be more careful when I apply it next time.

After experimenting with different brands of pink hair dyes I decided to buy this one based on reviews. I can confirm that the colour is really bright and looks great. The only problem is that it will dye your bath and everything else, and it’s not easy to clean off. I also spent over half an hour when I rinsed it waiting for the water to come out clear but it never did. I’d also recommend putting Vaseline around your hairline and wiping it off your face if you get any on it. I usually ignore this when dying my hair as after a couple of showers and some scrubbing face-wash it comes off, but it wasn’t as easy with this one!Sadly, it washes off quite easily, but then again so do all the other semi-permanent bright colours,so it wasn’t any worse than what I would have expected. It has been a month and I still have some left.I have dark brown hair which I bleached to a light-orangey shade and this colour took really well and looked a deep fuschia. It definitely looks brighter and more intense than similar shades from other brands without needing to bleach your hair to platinum blonde/white.As other reviews point out, the colour will bleed in the first week or so, so be prepared to have your bedding stained, as well as your clothes if you’ve got long hair. Having said that, the stains came out in the wash with no problems. As per most non-permanent bright colourants, I would recommend leaving it on much longer than directed. I applied mine to towel-dry hair and left it on for about an hour. As it’s got no bleach or stripping agents, leaving it on won’t damage your hair, it’ll just make it look more intense. For lighter base colours you probably don’t need to leave it on that long to obtain the same result. As much of a pain as it was to rinse it off and scrub the bath after dying my hair, I think the results were worth it and I will be buying it again.

As with all hair care products and dyes/stains, the end result will vary from person to person as no two heads of hair are the same.I use this product to create flashes of colour, not covering all my hair and I worked out a technique that suits me.(I pre bleached my hair section which gives much, much better results. The lighter the better even if you have to leave bleach on for 3-4 hours, it's worth it. The damage bleach does is not obvious on a small section of hair so if you are covering your whole head I'd suggest going to a professional).First wash your hair and let it dry.Select your hair section and apply product (make sure the hair is dry it gives better colour).Wrap covered sectionin foil and pin it to your head (I use baking foil because it doesn't react with my hair but always do a small test incase it tarnishes and never use ordinary foil while bleaching!).Wait at least 30mins (I sat beside a fireplace while I was waiting and the gentle heat added to the development but the heat from your head will do it if only a little more slowly).Rinse thoroughly wearing gloves as this blue colour really loves staining skin and dry as normal. Now, don't panic if the colour isn't as strong as you thought. I only amended my technique AFTER my first attempt where I ended up with a very light sky blue colour. If it isn't the strong coral blue you desire, repeat the process again without re-bleaching. Having a light blue base to work on results in stronger colour. This also applies to reapplying after the colour has faded (the time period for which varies again depending on your hair type and shampoo). Please remember that this technique works for me and I can only share it as a guide. Do a strand test or cut test if you are in any doubt.

When I was 14 I used this dye over my natural brunette (back when the packaging was black) and back then it DID leave some quite vivid, lovely streaks of red through my hair that lasted a good while but I do want to point out that is on completely natural hair and my hair type, it may not be the case for everyone. To get the proper tones of this colour you want either blonde hair or bleached blonde hair or it won't show more than a faint, mildly red tone and it will NOT leave any hints on medium brown or dyed hair. This colour is easy to apply, it doesn't have any strong chemical smells (it doesn't smell) you can seal it over and use it again.Put it on and leave it for the longest application to really let the colour soak in and then rinse it out with slightly warm or cool water (so as not to strip it out) and you're okay.I do want to mention that with brighter colours you shouldn't be using strong shampoo, washing your hair more than once or twice a week, using warm water (warm-ish) is okay or using lots of heat products because they will IMMEDIATELY remove the colour. That is the case for semi or permanent dyes regardless. My hair is bleached to a slightly gingery colour and when I put this on it really came out a beautiful vivid red, a lovely tone for very pale skin with cool tones in it. It isn't too bright it looks silly or like a wig and it isn't boring or dull. The colour lasts well but you should always be sensible and get an extra box if you like it because with these colours you can never estimate how long they last as everyone's hair is different and what works for one person may not be the case for others.I highly recommend this product, no damage, no problems, no mess and it leaves stunning results. I am very happy.

So, my bleached blonde hair grew out & I had dark roots. I wanted to dye my hair pink & purple. Purple roots to pink ends. But the purple (from a different company) took ages to arrive. So I got this product in magenta & black. I smudged out my regrowth with the black & faded it into the pink. I didn’t realise the black had a blue base, so when I washed it out, the pink became more of a purple. I loved it! I wanted it more purple anyways! That’s why I haven’t posted pictures, because my hair is more of a purple pink but that’s my own fault. But I think it will fade into the intended colour after a few washes.I’d also like to advise ignoring the part of the instructions that say “use on shampooed & towel dried hair” like I did because the hair sucks up the colour more when it’s dry. Also don’t rinse it out until it’s clear, just until the bubbles stop (if you use shampoo), and use cold water to make your colour last longer. Be careful with this product, it stains everything!! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars. I wore old clothes & used old towels but it stained my floor, sink & bath. I had to scrub it several times with bleach & my hands are still bright pink days later. The glove had a hole in it & my finger went black, looked like when ppl loose their fingers to frostbite. Be SUPER careful with this product, i now have to repaint my white cabinet. This product will cause problems but I think the colour is worth it lol.

Read all the reviews before choosing this colour. My hair came out almost exactly like it does in the picture with a few minor patches which were my own fault. What I learned was this:1) You want the box colour, pre-lighten. Start with a dye remover like Colour B4. Yes, it smells like death in a cream but it gets the old colour build up out.2) Peroxide. If your normal colour is anything other than blonde, use 40 Vol to get it light. I used 30 Vol peroxide and my hair turned orange in patches. I even used it twice. 40 vol is the way forward.3) If you have uneven colour in your hair before you dye it, you will have a slightly uneven pink tone.I ended up with 95% box colour pink and several small patches of salmon colouring from where I couldn't peroxide out the remaining orange. Luckily it's not too noticeable. When rinsing, I agree that the water will never be pink free which makes total sense as it's meant to be a wash out colour. Rinse until the water stays the same pale shade of pink and call it a day. 3 days in, no staining on my clothes or my pillow. All in all, I'm incredibly happy with this. I have very short hair so I was able to use half the bottle and save the other half for a later date. If you have shoulder length hair or longer, I'd recommend more than one bottle.

Literally don't know how the reviews say this dye doesn't take. I've been using Stargazer for 15 years. I've been magenta, black, yellow, green, blue, and a combination of 6 colours. The formula has changed over the last 3 years and doesn't stain HALF as much as it used to. I can actually sleep with my hair down now and now look like a sunburnt lobster (when I use magenta) or a zombie (with blue) when I wake up. It also doesn't ruin my shower like it used to. It's the cheapest, most vibrant, easiest to use semi-permanent colour I've found.I dye with two pots (slightly below shoulder length hair), leave it on for 2 hours under a plastic bag or cling film, wash without shampoo till it runs (mostly)clear, and it lasts 4 weeks with normal shampooing. It blends nicely too.I bleach my hair to a pale yellow to achieve the vibrant colours in the photos, but I've also coloured my natural (dark brown) hair with this dye. The results are obviously very dark and doesn't stick as long - washes out in maybe 4 washes. Beware: the blue REALLY sticks around. If you want blue, you gotta commit.Stargazer for LIFE.

I have had 3 colours from this range, foxy red, coral blue and ultra blue. Foxy red is vibrant and takes quickly, unfortunately it stains bleached hair (don’t know about naturally light hair) I ended up have to bleach it out to change colour. Coral Blue can be more of a minty green, if you have any yellow tones in your hair at all it WILL go mint green. Ultra blue is gorgeous, it has a purple hue to it, indoors under house lights it looks almost Cadbury purple but out in the daylight it’s a lovely royal blue.I found with the red I only needed 1 bottle to do both the underneath and front of my hair. The coral blue I should have used 2 bottles for this but only ordered the 1 as that was what I needed with the red.The Ultra blue, like the foxy red only required 1 bottle for both areas. I have long thick hair so if you have hair like mine and want to do your whole head I would go with 2 bottles (ultra blue / foxy red) or 3 - 4 bottles of the coral blue. These dyes are super conditioning, after punishing my hair with a ton of bleach, using this dye really softened my hair and gave it a lovely shine again.

I bleached my hair about a month before I used this colour so I probably got the best results, and the colour I used was baby pink. It turned out a lovely colour, a little brighter than expected but it soon began to fade to the colour I thought it would be.The colour is ready mixed and really easy to apply (though it definitely is best to apply it to dry hair, as opposed to wet like it says on the package), although it stained my forehead a bit for a day or two afterwards! It caused no damage to my hair because it doesn't contain any hydrogen peroxide or ingredients like that, which I was really happy with. But what I was most impressed with was how long the colour lasted. After 2-3 weeks, the colour had started fading, but slowly and gradually. It took about 4 or 5 weeks before I was completely back to my normal blonde. I was also worried that it would go through a range of weird colours as it faded, but this didn't happen - it stayed a pale pink the entire time till I was blonde again..I definitely recommend this dye, it's easy to get a really even coverage and the colour turns out really pretty.

This is the 3rd brand of pale pink dye that I have used & the only one to have shown up on my professionally lightened & bleach hi-lighted hair. The colour of the dye in the bottle is fluorescent pink but undeterred I put it on anyway, I was a bit shocked after rinsing it out as my hair seemed to be magenta pink, but once it had been dried it was a really lovely pale pink colour. I think I was so used to putting other dyes on it that didn't take at all that to actually see it pink was a bit of a surprise!I've washed it once & yes it has faded a little but still looks good & noticeably pink. Realistically if you're looking for a permanent pale pink hair dye you're not going to find one, they're all temporary - you need to accept that it's a look that takes a lot of work to maintain & that if you wash your hair 3-4 times a week you're probably going to be topping it up once a week & in my opinion the best, most durable brand is stargazer.Other reviewers have mentioned issues with staining - not something I had a problem with but I used gloves & a tint brush to apply.

This is a really good product. I used it over a turquoise colour already from L'Oreal that I already have on. Thought I would try this brand as with the one that's on my head already, I need 4 to do half my head because my hair is so thick. Gets expensive and really doesn't last long. Left the product on for 45 mins and could tell instantly the colour had took. It's a lot more vibrant now then it was before. I only bought one incase it didn't work, I just about covered my hair. I missed some bits though so I would advise getting 2. More if your hair is longer and thicker, just to cover everything. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 purely because the size of the these bottles. Their always smaller then standard colours.Which is annoying. I always end up having to spend more money because of it. I would defo buy these but would most likely lighten your hair first if your a brunette like myself. I just ombré mine as I'm not comfortable using the DIY bleaches at home as I'm not expert. Didn't end well last time.

I used this on my already heavily bleached hair. I didn’t find it damaging at all and it achieved a pretty good pink result that lasted a fair number of washes before fading. It was easy to apply and didn’t smell as bad as a lot of other hair products do. Later on I decided to try a milder colour so diluted the dye with conditioner which worked well and produced a nice light tone. Again this lasted a fair while before fading. Be careful about getting a pink scalp or hairline (Vaseline works great here). All in all this product was great. It fulfilled its purpose easily and effectively and was good value for money. If I still wanted pink hair or were to again in the future I’d make a repeat purchase. This may, however, be far less effective (if at all) on those with hair any darker than bleach blond and if it’s brown you can probably forget it.That aside, 5/5 would recommendIf you found this review useful in any way I’d be super grateful if you clicked the “helpful” button below to let me know :)

This product is first class. I am always dubious of using anything on my hair as my brother is a hairdresser & does my hair & can be very critical about condition etc.So when I first dip dyed my hair I decided not to ask him & do it myself.......I used a more well known off the shelf brand & went for pink! After that I got the "colour bug" & decided I wanted to use 3 colours....I still had pink & didnt want to go for the usual pink/blue/purple.....so after a bit of research of these hair dyes,I felt ready to try them...colours choosen Yellow & Tropical green with my own bright pink.So easy to apply.....even on my blonde hair the yellow was vibrant! I loved my new look!Aftercare was grand as the dyes really are semi-permanent and wash out gradually...quick enough too if you dont like your colour!I would recommend these dyes to any one, I'm due a top up so hello rainbow hair again :-)5 STARS!!!!!
