This attractive-looking herb keeper can store up to four varieties of cut herbs fresh for longer than most other ways of doing that. So I guess the issue comes down to -- what kind of a herb-user are you? I mean, do you use herbs enough to want that many in fresh-storage but on the other hand use them at a fairly slow rate of consumption? The design is ingenious, and that on its own is a selling-point to users such as myself. The appearance is also attractive, as I said already, being bright and contemporary. There is not likely to be much cause for having the box on the dining table during meals, but it will look nice wherever you have it. More to the point,it fits neatly into the door-shelf on the average refrigerator.Three removable dividers allow for four kinds of herbs, as Einstein or Gauss might have said. The herb bunches have to have their stalks trimmed, and they will then be kept in water, much as if you were keeping them in jam-jars or other such makeshift storage. Where this box scores over the jam-jars is in having a slatted lid that reduces the rate of evaporation. The materials and presentation are not cheap-looking, and that in my opinion is good marketing. Even the cardboard box is nice, and if you don't spot the dividers at first, they are in the small flat folder beneath the main unit. There is a small booklet of instructions, but if your eyesight can cope with the small print you can get all the instructions you need off the cardboard casing itself. So do you want it? I should not presume to guess how many cooks will find this item necessary, but lovers of a bright kitchen should be plentiful, and I welcome all such into the confraternity and consorority of users of the Cole and Mason Fresh Herb Keeper.

I've been eyeing up this type of thing for awhile. I don't have a garden and have managed to kill many potted herbs in the past. I love using fresh herbs in cooking but often find I only use half of cut herbs and the rest go to waste. So I was really thrilled to have a chance to review this.First, the negatives: Although it is cleverly designed to fit in the fridge door, it is still going to take up a fair amount of space. I'd have preferred one half the size. I'm not convinced the dividers have much point. And it costs £14.65 at time of writing, so it's a fair amount for a single-task gadget that you have probably been doing without for your entire life.However...I am really impressed with it.I put some parsley in it last week, topped up the water reservoir as instructed, and this week the parsley seems every bit as fresh as when I put it in the fridge. I never even had top top up the water. I have yet to try it with more delicate herbs, but am planning to try it with some salad leaves as well. I love the idea that I may be able to have a regular supply of fresh herbs on the go now. And since our community box scheme is just kicking off, I expect it will be very well used indeed this summer.I don't know if I'd have paid the best part of £15 for this without having tried it, but considering how much use it's likely to get, I think it would easily pay for itself if, like me, you love fresh herbs, don't grow them, and have space in the fridge!

The purpose of the Cole & Mason Cut Herb Keeper is to store your cut-herbs in the fridge and thereby helping them to last for much longer. The product itself is a fairly stylish plastic box, with a lid and a water reservoir at the bottom. Three clear acrylic separators allow different types/sizes of cut herbs to be stored in the box. While a simple idea, the box does actually work well and does what it says – I find that cut herbs seem to last over a week longer than they otherwise would. Most people will not find this product life changing. In fact, if you like to keep planted herbs then for the most part this box would be useless to you. However,if you are someone who buys cut-herbs often and finds that you tend to be ending up with a lot in bin as they’ve gone bad before you’ve had time to finish them then this box is just for you. While I tend to mainly keep planted herbs, for the occasional time that I buy cut herbs I have found this product useful.

Due to my various roles as keen cook, gimlet eyed skinflint and almost criminally incompetent gardener,I often find myself buying those bags of cut herbs that are always reduced to 9p at the supermarket. You never use all of them in a dish, of course, and they either get thrown away or reappear as a bag of green slime after several months lurking at the lower depths of the vegetable drawer. But 9p is 9p, and I want top value from my weekly food shop.So whilst I confess that the majority of the kitchen equipment I acquire quickly ends up in the gadget graveyard at the back of the larder, I am finding this cut herb keeper really useful: It's well designed too, as it fits into the fridge door shelf ,has an adjustable lid to accommodate your taller herb, and a couple of dividers in the box for three-herb action. And at only £14.99, after I've bought 167 bags of herbs I'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

This should help to end the waste of those packets of supermarket cut stemmed herbs that rapidly perish in the fridge after you have opened them and used one or two stems. The design is very simple, a cream coloured plastic tub for water in which the herbs are placed has slots for three clear acrylic separators so that three different types of herb can be kept fresh at the same time. The lower leaves and leaf stems are removed from the stems of the herbs as they would be with cut flowers placed in a vase.A clear acrylic cover slots over the top helping to protect the top leaves from being knocked about in the fridge. The one herb that mustn't be kept in the fridge like this is basil, which doesn't tolerate the cold well. For this herb it may be better to keep it in a pot on the windowsill. It's early days with this for me, but I anticipate that it will save me money in the long run, and cut down on waste.

Love this herb keeper. Never knew they even existed but what a brilliant idea! I am forever throwing out slimy little bags of herbs that have been either forgotten at the back of the fridge, or half-used and gone off before I got to the rest. This lovely herb keeper keeps my herbs hydrated and fresh for far longer, just like a bunch of flowers, only in the fridge. And it fits perfectly in the door of the fridge, so nothing gets lost in the graveyard at the back, with the elderly onions and wrinkly potatoes..It is so easy to use - you just put in the little dividing walls (there are 3 - so you can create up to 4 separate spaces) - put the herbs in and the water in - and draw up the outside of the keeper and click it into place to make it double height, close the lid and put it in the fridge for future reference. Fabulous - could not be more simple.

I like this and whilst it isn't a "must-have" item in the kitchen, it is actually really useful. We often buy herbs to cook a specific meal with and don't necessarily use all of them in one dish, but equally don't necessarily want to cook with the same herbs again the next day or so afterwards. This little storage box has been designed to extend the life of cut herbs in a simple, but effective way, with water in the bottom of the box, keeping the herbs from flagging and going all floppy. It sits well in the fridge, slim enough to sit in the door and inside the box, you can separate up to three different kinds of herbs with the dividers inside. I thought that the herbs might get overly wet inside, but there are vents, which allow the herbs to 'breathe', which helps to keep them fresh for longer.

I use a lot of fresh herbs and every week end up throwing out a few sad and floppy stalks of a variety of them that I have not been able to use. I do have another herb keeper that is essentially a perspex tube with a stopper lid, but it is on the small side so is often unused. This herb keeper from Cole & Mason is excellent, a good size, with 4 sections for different herbs. It is easy to put together and looks good in the fridge. My only gripe is that the top plastic section can accidentally be pushed down (as I discovered when my kids put a pop bottle on top of it in the fridge) squashing the contents - as long as you bear that in mind and don't be tempted to stack items on top it is great.A big bonus is that when it is not in use it can be compacted down.

This Cole & Mason Cut Herb Keeper is a good idea if, like us, you enjoy regularly using fresh herbs in your cooking. The product is plastic, but nicely made, and is quite attractive, as well as being practical, and fits in our fridge door perfectly – it is currently full of mint for use with our Jersey Royals. The secret is in the water container which ensures the herbs gets the correct amount of water, and the air vents with allow them to breathe. As well as this cut plant version there is also a Cole & Mason Self-Watering Herb Keeper available if you want to grow your own fresh herbs more easily. This cut herb keeper is a simple idea that works well, it is a good design, nicely made and it is a useful product that we expect to use fairly regularly.

I normally grow my herbs indoors (with one of those light box growers), however theres sometimes a need to buy packet cut herbs. This is a handy device that very conviently fits in the door of the fridge. You add your spare herbs, and can adjust the height of the lid and add seperators for different herbs. The small resevoir in the base keeps the herbs from wilting. Obviosly they wont last forever but long enough I found. If you buy in a lot of fresh cut herbs, or packet herbs, then this may prove a money saver in the long term. However if you can I would still recommend trying to grow your own herbs. The light box growers are really great and you can keep replanting and growing.

This product actually works, and it really does keep your herbs fresh for longer. But it takes up an enormous amount of space in my fridge. Due to how my shelves are spaced out, I have to add it to the door, which means I then have to find other places for the bottles I usually keep in the door. It's just too big.And the whole lid thing drives me bonkers too. It's a bit too gimmicky in my opinion, I used it for a few weeks and now it's just gathering dust in the back of a cupboard. However, it does actually work and it does keep your herbs fresh so I feel it's only fair I give them a 4 start. On a side note, why does Amazon keep asking me to rate products on "Sheerness"?

I have wanted one of these type of storage containers for some time. In the winter months I buy loose bunches of herbs from the supermarket and they lie in plastic bags in the fridge. In the summer I cut herbs from the garden. With this container I can house several kinds together and keep them fresh and watered. There are dividers that are removable inside to help keep them separate and upright. There is a level guide on the outside so you know how much water is in there. The clear top allows for light and easy access to remove the herbs via a lid. You are supposed to place this within the fridge, but there's no room in mine, so it's gone on the windowsill.

I've had Cole & Mason branded kitchen products before and they have always proved good quality and excellent value for money. This Fresh Hern Keeper is no exception. we often buy fresh herbs in supermarkets but find that even when kept in the fridge, they quickly become flacid and limp. With this Fresh Herb Keeper you can seperate herbs into compartments and by topping up the reservoir with water and keeping it in the fridge door, herbs can last-the makers claim- up to ten days.Currently selling at £15.00, if you do a lot of cooking with herbs then it could pay for itself in a few months.

This clever little device is turning out to be very useful. Without a proper garden, I am always buying those supermarket bags of fresh herbs only to forget about them in a few days and subsequently finding a bag os sludge. However popping them in here is keeping them fresher for longer and all in one visible place. I have found that a cool windowsill works a well as a fridge too, so no need to find extra space in a frequently paced fridge. This product really does work too, the herbs are far fresher and not wilting so far easier to chop and far nice to cook with.

Excellent purchase !I was a little sceptical on ordering but on receiving it I would definitely recommend this product, as it is made from a strong good quality plastic and looks like it will do the job of keeping herbs fresh. It is just what I was looking for and I am very happy with my purchase 5stars , for the item .Although the 5 stars for the item , I gave 4stars for the price as it is a little bit pricey for a plastic container. But at the same time it is quality, larger than expected and is definitely what is needed to keep herbs fresh!
