I own many different air tight containers and have always wanted someone to review them in one place so I could read before buying. I hope this is helpful to others. I hand wash all containers regardless of instructions to preserve the life of the containers. Here's my take on all of them.OXO POPMy favorite. These are beautiful, easy to use, and stack well. Made of a fragile hard plastic.PROS-Easiest to seal and unlock seal-Airtight-Lots if different sizes for different items-They stack well-Easy to grab/grip-Easy to pour contents-Easy to see through them-Absolutely beautiful storage containers-Makes pantry inventory simple (and dare I say a pleasure :)CONS- Very expensive-They break very easily. One drop and they're done for which is a huge bummer considering how expensive they are-They scratch very easily-Shipping is an issue. We ordered ours from two different sites (Macy's had a sale that applied to them which helped since they are so $$$$). However both Amazon and Macy shipped scratched (long, deep scratches on the sides) containers, Amazon had some that were scratched and some that were broken.-Not easy to clean. The lids have to be taken apart and take a long time to dry. Putting them back together takes practice to get it just rightNOTEWhile they do stack, my advice measure what you have now before buying. My preference is the rectangular containers, not the squares. Trying to use both does not translate well in the pantry for stacking so I found that the rectangular containers combined with the 1.5 qt taller square one worked well for me.GLASSLOCKI use these to store wheat germ, ground flax seed, and other baking ingredients in the fridge. They are made of a thick, heavy glass with a plastic locking lid.PROS-Airtight-They stack well-Easy to grab/grip-Easy to see through them-Glass - no leaching from plastic unless you fill container until it touches lid (tough to do since the lid is slightly raised)-They do not scratch easily. I use anything I want to remove the contents and haven't scratched the containers. Not sure about the lid - but I don't see a reason to scrape anything off the lid-Very easy to cleanCONS-Take a lot of effort to seal and unlock seal. I wouldn't recommend these containers to someone lacking hand strength-Some might consider these heavy even when emptySNAPWAREI've used these for years and years and gave them away when I converted to OXO Pop storage.PROS-Durable - dropped countless times, nothing happened to them-Extremely cost effective-Easy to open and close-Airtight-Easy to grab/grip-Easy to pour contents-Easy to see through them-They resist scratching pretty well considering we had ours for years, stored all kinds of things in them (unshelled nuts comes to mind) and they weren't really scratched when I gave them awayCONS-They do not stack-Can be a challenge to fill when pouring contents if you're not careful-They do take a little longer to clean than the ClickClack and OXO because of the container's shape. The lid is easy to clean (for the lid - the gasket does slide out easily for me with prodding and dries overnight on the counter on a cloth) but getting the gasket back in correctly requires a little more time and patienceCLICK CLACK WITH SIDE LOCK LIDSI use the ClickClack large canisters for flour, sugar, etc. They are made of a durable, hard plastic. To avoid scratching when scooping contents we use plastic measuring cups and spoons. Initially I purchased some of their round containers as well, but since they didn't fit well with the others didn't keep them.PROS-Easy to lock/unlock lid-Lots if different sizes for different items-They stack well-Airtight-Easy to grab/grip-Easy to see through them-Durable. Several have been dropped - nothing happened to them. That's impressive considering they have been dropped while empty or full (with a box of brown sugar - the added weight didn't cause them to crack).-They don't scratch as easily as the OXO containers-Easy to clean (for the lid - the gasket does slide out easily for me with prodding and dries overnight on the counter on a cloth)CONS-Locking handle on lids breaks. But that was after using for 2-3 years. I use black electrical tape to tape them on over the edge which works, but isn't exactly ideal considering their price. They probably sell a replacement, haven't checked.-The bottoms are scratched where we slide them on and off shelves, but that's not an issue for me.-They do scratch if a stainless utensil is used inside to scrape out contents but that's to be expected with plasticLOCK AND LOCKI use several of the same size of Lock & Lock large rectangular storage containers to stack upon one another, and another longer one for loaves of bread. They are made of a much softer, BPA free plastic than the OXO or ClickClack.PROS-Easy to lock/unlock lid-These are great for storing items in the fridge, they lock well, stack well, and are easy to hand wash clean-Easy to clean (for the lid - the gasket does slide out easily for me by tapping the lid on the counter. Dries overnight on the counter on a cloth)-Lots if different sizes for different items-They stack well-Easy to grab/grip-Easy to clean (for the lid - the gasket does slide out easily for me with prodding and dries overnight on the counter on a cloth)CONS-Not as easy to see through as the ClickClack or the OXO-They break. One was dropped while it was full and the whole bottom cracked along the edge where it was dropped and a large piece broke off rendering it useless-They do scratch if a stainless utensil is used inside to scrape out contents but that's to be expected with plastic

Overview:I have purchased many of these storage containers, in various sizes. As with most OXO products, I have been extremely satisfied with them, and I would buy them again. More importantly, my wife appears to be equally impressed with her gift. That being said, I don't think they would work as well for everyone, as they do for us. They are expensive, and they are not necessarily the best choice for a home with small children. As such, I will provide you with my observations, and leave it up to you to decide how they would fit into your personal lifestyle. The pros:They seal flawlessly, and with great ease. I believe they are the best product available for keeping the freshness in, and the bugs out. They stack nicely, and their clear siding permits easy identification of the contents within. Their rounded corners make pouring a breeze. These containers come in a variety of sizes, and meet all of our kitchen dry-storage needs. They work for everything from baking goods, to cereals and crackers, to bread. Yes, the two largest container sizes can hold a normal-sized loaf of bread, and keep it fresh for much longer. They have really helped organize the pantry, which looks great, and makes it much easier to evaluate how much of a product requires replentishment, prior to shopping. The cons:First, many of them (especially the larger sizes) are not packaged well for shipping, and they have arrived in broken condition. Fortunately, Amazon Customer Service has promptly replaced them, without delay. To me, the long-term convenience far outweighs the short-term frustration.Second, we have not broken any of them after delivery, but we are also quite careful in their handling. I'm not sure how well they would do with small children, so be advised before you invest. I suspect a single drop on the hard kitchen floor would result in a damaged container, but I am not willing to test my hypothesis at this price.Third, they are not dishwasher safe, except for the silicon sealing ring. For us, this has not been a major issue, but it may be a problem for others. Personally, we have found their non-pourous construction to be easy to clean, so we don't mind hand washing them.Pre-purchase planning:Be aware that for stacking purposes, the containers come in three shapes (from the top view): small-square shape, large-square shape, and rectangular shape. While you can sometimes mix them for stacking, in general, I find that it is best to stick to one shape (for a particular stack). Also, be aware that you get more bang-for-the-buck with the larger sizes. The relationship between the price of the container and the volume of storage is indirect. In short, less storage costs you more money. In general, I find the large-square shape and the rectangular shape to be the most beneficial. They permit easy access, and they allow the buyer more options regarding what to put in them. That being said, understand that the prepackaged sets tend to come with a lot of the small-square shaped containers. The smallest sizes have limited functionality, but can be useful for storing raisons, small candies, etc. As for the spices mentioned by the manufacturer, spices usually come in a bottle. For those that don't, I believe there are better (and cheaper) products available.Summary:For those willing to deal with the shipping issues, the risk of future breakage, and the hand-washing, I think this is by far the best product on the market. With care, they will save you money in the long-run because: they keep things fresh, they keep the bugs out, and they make it easy to avoid the over-buying or the under-buying of groceries. They are a quality product, and they make the kitchen look great.Whether you want to buy many of them or just a few, I generally recommend the larger sizes. They provide the best bang-for-the-buck, and permit greater flexibility. Specifically, I would start with a few of the large-square types to see if you like them as much as I do.Thank you for those who posted before me. Much of what I have said consolidates what you mentioned before, and really helped with my purchasing decisions. For those of you still stuck in the decision-making process; good luck! I hope this helps out a little.

I am a big believer in using storage containers and have tried almost every brand in existence but to be honest, when I first saw these in Kohls I thought they were just another average storage container and I didn't pay them much attention at all. Then on a 2nd visit I decided to give them a closer look and boy am I glad I decided to do just that. The lids are FANTASTIC. Yes they sink into the actual container around 3/4 of an inch thus taking away a bit of your storage space but I for one really don't care. Ill just use a bigger container if it wont fit in a smaller once. The ease and quality of the seal is worth every bit of that 3/4 of an inch loss. These are easily the best lids ever designed.I have now been using these containers for a little over 6 months and I just appreciate them more and more as time goes on. I have now purchased a lot of these containers, at least 2-3 in each size, and not only do they work amazingly well, they also look fantastic. We now have a whole cupboard filled with just these containers and you simply have to see it to understand just how nice it really looks. Its just such a clean and organized look and its extremely easy to find what your looking for even when your staring at a cupboard filled with them. Obviously the look of the containers isn't really that important but when something works as good as these containers do and just happen to look really good too, well its just an added bonus and these containers definitely look good.Overall I have noticed a considerable difference in the freshness of the food we store in these containers. We are throwing away a lot less food these days and some things are literally lasting 2-3 times as long without spoiling. For example we are big cereal junkies. We usually have at least 6-8 different brands of cereal at any given time and because we like such a large selection, we don't finish boxes off nearly as fast as most people do. Because of this there are times when we definitely noticed a decrease in freshness especially with cereals like Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, and granola based cereals. Now that we use these containers, we no longer have this issue. Its really amazing just how big of a difference these containers have really made. The 3 .4 quart size is definitely our favorite size due to our cereal eating habits but they are all nice and I definitely recommend getting all the sizes even the smaller ones. Some people have complained that the smaller containers are useless but I disagree. There are really a ton of things that you can put in every single one of these containers. I guess it just depends on just what you eat. We have at least 2 of each size and we use them all, in fact we even had to buy more as it was getting difficult finding any empty containers. As for the future of these containers, I would like to see different colors released. In particular I would absolutely LOVE to see a higher quality set with actual stainless steel lids. That will probably never happen but that would be my ultimate food storage container and I would gladly pay a lot more for them. I would also like to see them come out with a set of round containers. The bottom line - These are hands down the best storage containers on the market and while they are a bit expensive, they are absolutely worth every penny. In time, the money you will save from throwing out less food will more than cover the cost of these containers. OXO has really hit a home run with these containers and the other storage companies out there really should be worried as I am betting these containers will become HUGELY popular in the months and years to come. I know I wont be buying anything but Pop containers from here on out. I simply cant possibly give POP containers a higher recommendation.5 Stars!!

I live in an older home with a small pantry. There is so much to say about thse containers.I currently have tupperware modular mnates. They fit nicely in my pantry with a HUGE variety of sizes BUT these OXO containers look SO much nicer. Cosmetic, yes. BUT they also keep things fresh.Be careful and reallly look at the sizes. The OXO plastic IS clear but it is also thicker & heavier than tupperware with no "give".The OXO lids are far superior to any other container I have come across. Easy on and off, keeps things fresh!! They are however MUCH thicker in height and fit deep into the containers due to their vacuum freshness. You have to hand wash the lids, only the gasket is dishwasher safe. The lids come apart easily for washing and I have not found any problems with a quick hand washing, yet.I imagine the good people at OXO took a spaghetti noodle and added the height of the lid which is substantial (as far as storage containers go) and THAT is the tallest height of the containers. Two tall small squares (what I would call the spaghetti container) seem to equal the max depth of the containers BUT these containers have a bit of a flare at the top ...Sadly my pantry has a small shelf in the back of the main cupboard and it is about 1-2 inches too low to slide a tall OXO all the way back ... BUT these fit nicely in front of that shelf with 4 large angled lock-n-lock containers across the back shelf, it is absolutely perfect.Under that back shelf the tupperware modular mates (which I have a ton of) fit reallly nicely (tupperware has a wider variety of sizes that fit perfectly into the cupboard so they seem to be more space-saving than the OXOs). I can fit 10 useful-sized modular mate containers behind the 5 OXO containers that fit across the face of the pantry. So things that do not go "bad" or stale get put behind the lovely OXO containers containers (like ramen, k-cups, packaged foods) and up front are the two OXO containers with cereal, a container with spaghetti, and two large squares filled with bulk chips and a bag of flour. My original dream was to have my entire pantry filled with these containers ... just like the picture for the sets that they sell ... but they are too bulky for my small cupboards.I love them!! I know this review sounds critical but I am in NO way unhappy with my purchase ... I am however unhappy with my cupboards LOL.I saw these at the King Arthur Flour website ... thought about them for awhile ... but they are so expensive, specially on THAT website LOL .... then I saw them at Kohl's and brought one home for a trial period when I had some spare Kohl's cash ... I realllly like them.I ordered 4 OXO containers from Amazon ... one came broken ... so I also wonder how durable they are ... but just for their appearance and freshness factor alone ... I would buy replacements!! I don't forsee much dropping ... accidents do happen but I am not willing to expirement at these costs LOLAmazon QUICKLY replaced my container for free and no hassels!!! It wasn't like I had a container emergency so the extra few days wait didn't bother me ... hey .... I have been waiting my entire life for these containers what's a few more days LOLUgh Amazon DOES a POOR job of packaging these ... or maybe it is OXO?!!! For the fragility of them during transit ... OXO should prolly box them but they are sold with absolutely no packaging or stickers of any kind ... there is a slip of paper inside of the containers and the ones I bought on amazon came in open plastic bags. These reallly look NICE and keep food fresher longer! I would definitely buy them again! They definitely have a place in my cupboards!!

I'm a coffee fanatic and set out to look for a container to store coffee. I wasn't impressed by the reviews for the items that had a metal latching assembly, such as the Friis, which I'm sure you've encountered if you've searched for a coffee canister.I understand that freshly roasted coffee straight from the roaster may require a CO2 escape valve, I would indicate that this unit does not have one, but I was not seeking that feature. This product seems like it will do the job of coffee storage. Quantity is 1.5 Quarts. That seemed like more than enough to hold a bag of coffee. I usually buy 8 to 11-12 oz bags of coffee. A sealed 8-oz bag will barely fit. An 11 or 12 oz bag is simply too tall, but after you remove some beans from the bag for grinding it will fit fine. Of course there is no problem if you open the bag and pour it all in, but that wasn't what I was looking for. It will not hold an unopened 12 oz bag of beans if that's what you're seeking...I was considering keeping the beans within the unopened coffee bag inside this container but that won't appear to work. As I mentioned though, I'll likely have to use this only after the bag has been opened. If you don't want to keep the beans in the bag, you could cut the label off the bag and store it with the beans and it would be easy to read the label through the clear plastic. If you buy in bulk, just be aware that a very full tall bag may not fit but 8 to 9 oz or less would likely fit just fine. Or as I said, just pour the beans right into the container, if you prefer. You can certainly use this for other items as well, but I was looking specifically for coffee container storage. It is manufactured in China. The label indicates BPA-free. There is a very sticky label on the bottom that says: "Silicone Gasket is Dishwasher Safe. Hand Wash All Other Parts". It looks as though this label is designed to stay glued to the container and will make a nasty mess if you try to remove it or pull it off. It is probably on the bottom so you can read it if you try to put it upside down in the dishwasher rack. As I said, any attempt to remove this looks like it will leave a horrible mess of paper and glue stuck to the container, so I'd suggest leaving that label intact.Advertised as easy to open with one-handed operation, the POP-up button works very easily with one hand to open and also to close and seal the container. The bottom half of the top sealing mechanism unscrews from the top half for cleaning of the seal. Arrows on the underside of the lid indicate which way to unscrew. The locking top disassembles and reassembles quite easily, so no issues there.I'd like to find a smaller one for my ground coffee but I want to see how this does first. All in all it seems like a sturdy product, it does indicate "stackable" so I'm hoping it will stack well with this one, as I'm considering this item for the ground portion of the coffee beans:

**Update: April 2012** The original review below still applies, I just wanted to update to say I've had these containers for 5 years now and they're all working/looking like new. Very happy with them.*Original review*I bought these because we discovered mice in the crawlspace of our house and I didn't want to give them any reason to move into the kitchen. Not to mention the threat of other food-loving pests. These containers keep them out. I love these containers, in all sizes. The 5.5 qt size in my house is holding chocolate chips, as I buy 10 lb bags at a time. The other sizes in my house hold instant yeast, vital wheat gluten, brown sugar, dry milk, cinnamon chips, flour, etc. (Yes,I have a lot of these containers!) I'm very pleased with them, much more secure storage than using ziploc bags, and they are very air-tight! When that lid button is pushed down, the lid can't be pried off by the strongest person (except when used in the freezer, which I don't recommend and OXO doesn't recommend it either - see the 2nd to last paragraph).I also use a smaller size (.9 qt) for storing homemade biscuit treats for my shelties - the distinctive sound of these containers opening is like Pavlov's Bell for my dogs. I keep one container in the kitchen and another on my office desk so I always have one nearby. If the dogs are going nuts barking because there's a squirrel in the backyard or the UPS guy is at the front door, all I have to do is pop one of these containers open and the shelties stop whatever they're doing and come running to me. They *know* the sound of their treat containers. =)Another thing to add, these are nice for people with arthritis. Some food storage containers have very secure lids, but those lids are hard to pry off, and you *have* to pry them off to open the container. My mother-in-law has painful rheumatoid arthritis, so this is something I try to remain aware of. With the OXO POP containers, it's very secure storage, but the lid is easy to open and close... no prying is needed. So you know, these aren't made for storing food in the freezer. The gasket material doesn't work when it's super cold.... even without unsealing ("unpopping") the lid, I can pull the lid right off when I pull this container out of the freezer. We were trying to freeze whole bean coffee in one of these containers, and when we opened the freezer the smell of coffee hit us in the face. So, doesn't work in the freezer, keep that in mind. Also, I don't use this for everyday storage, like for leftovers, because cleaning this lid is more troublesome than other food storage lids. It's fine for storing brown sugar, but not leftovers. OXO markets these containers for holding dry ingredients, and I agree that's the best use for them. They're great for someone like me who bakes a lot.

Our kitchen units are crammed with cylindrical containers of all sorts of ingredients, and I finally decided to get irked by the waste of space that cylinders represent in the great scheme of things, all that space wasted with a circular cross section that could be taken up with foodstuffs! These have gently rounded corners and slightly tapering sides, but just enough to get a grip on them without wasting precious cubic centimetres. Yes, our old cupboards are not huge, and we really don't like things cluttering the worktops, especially storage things.I thought that the press down button atop each container was to create a slight vacuum effect in the container, but it is actually just to push the black silicone seal on the lid outward to seal the container. It's a neat system, but it remains to be see how this works out for durability (so I've not rated durability yet). The heights of the various containers are well worked out (at least for our cupboards) to fit into typical shelves while leaving a bit of headroom to make things easier to take out. It's worth measuring to see whether your units will work well with them. Having the slight taper top to bottom, and the slightly rounded corners really helps make them easy to pick out from a set, and we've already noticed that we're getting better quantities of stuff like pasta and rice stored. They're a doddle to clean as well. We wash new storage containers by habit, so that was the first thing we noticed. Again the rounded corners meant nothing could hide, and the lid was simple to clean too, although it needs to be separated into two components to wash and dry properly - it does this with a simple twist before separating the two parts. I'm not too keen on things that need a bit of simple disassembly to do something routine like cleaning, especially things that can break fairly easily, so I'm hoping that they shouldn't need regular washing out. With dry foodstuffs this should be the case.It doesn't affect the star rating, but the slick smoothness might make them "interesting" to pick up with wet hands, something we don't do much anyway. If that's a problem then Oxo might need to make silicone grip bands or some handy invention like that, which slides up the taper of the container until it fits tightly - but that's just the inventor in me speaking. They're good out of the box, let's see how they stand up to some torture!

I would be the world's happiest person if I could afford enough of these for my entire pantry. Right now I have a few different sizes and they work so well for kitchen organization! Some general notes about these:Square 1/3 Quart: This container holds very little. It's good for things like raisins, small bags of chopped nuts, or spices. The lid shape is a "small square" shape.First of all, they say right on the container that they aren't dishwasher safe, although to be honest I kinda want to just stick one in the dishwasher anyway and see what happens, but for now I've been hand washing them. I NEVER wash the lids though, since they really never get "dirty" and they're a huge pain to take apart and put back together. These things are pretty close to air tight,if you have one of the bigger containers and it's completely full I wouldn't recommend picking it up by the lid since the lid CAN slip from its locked position with some force. They have little raised nubby feet on the bottom and raised ribs on the tops so they easily stack. There are a few different stacking sizes though, I think 3 or 4 different lid shapes. I have mostly small square lids on my containers but I also have some large square and rectangle shapes. It can take some planning to get the right sizes so everything will stack neatly in your pantry. For containers that always hold the same thing I put a little label sticker on the side of the white lid for easy identification. If I need to keep the instructions handy I tape them on the inside (bottom) of the lid with clear packing tape. The POP containers sold through Amazon (and all the other online stores that I've seen) have a slightly different design than the ones I've bought in stores. The main differences are that the "Amazon containers" get a little wider near the top where the lid rests, the lid shape has more rounded edges, and the button is round shaped, the "store containers" have completely straight sides, although they do have a line near the top that marks how full you can fill it, has much straighter lid edges, and has a square shaped button. It's important to note that these two versions stack perfectly with each other, but their lids are incompatible with each other. Both are OXO brand, but I'm not sure which design is meant to be the newer, improved one. I personally prefer the "store" version with the square button.

I still use Pyrex for some things as I own a lot of them however they just aren't as nice or convenient as the POP containers. The 3 2/5 Quart Storage Container is actually my favorite size POP container. I eat a lot of cereal and usually have at least 6-8 different brands in the cupboard at any given time. I have tried using Pyrex and Tupperware for storing cereal but it just doesn't work very well. The 3 2/5 Quart POP Storage Container is absolutely perfect for cereal as it will easily hold a standard sized box and its easy to pour a bowl right out of the container. I now have 8 of the 3 2/5 Quart Storage Containers and since I started using them I have noticed a big difference in the freshness of my cereal, especially the cereals like corn flakes and Raisin Bran. I just love these containers. The bottom line - These are hands down the best storage containers on the market and while they are a bit expensive, they are absolutely worth every penny. If your a big cereal eater like me then the 3 2/5 Quart Storage Container should be a mandatory addition to your kitchen.

I must admit that I would absolutely love to own every size container from this set but unfortunately I only own 2 since I purchased them for specific reasons and at their current price it isn't feasible for me to stock my kitchen with them. If you have the money or a specific need then I would recommend these containers over any others that I have tried. They seal perfectly and with only the simple light push of the button on the top you can open the airtight seal or close the airtight seal. These are magnificent for people with arthritis or those that have a hard time gripping items to open them. There is no effort needed to open or close the container yet you get an airtight seal every single time without difficulty. The array of sizes they come in are wonderful, I own the large 5.5 quart square and the slightly smaller 2.? quart size. They wash easily by hand and they are visually appealing as well. I haven't needed to stack mine but they appear as though it would be a breeze to do. As another reviewer mentioned, they don't seem as though they would survive a hard impact well since they are constructed of a hard plastic that is not shatter proof. I keep mine in the refrigerator and haven't had any issue with mold or spillage. I will most likely be purchasing a small sized one soon so that I can store my fresh garlic cloves in the fridge without concern that the smell will infect all of the other refrigerated foods. My only issue with the containers is the price, they are a simple design with materials that are not high priced when mass produced so I can't see why they cost so much...but as I said before, if you have the money and a specific need for a truly airtight container that's incredibly easy to open...you'll be more than pleased with the quality of these containers! Make sure to figure out the measurements of exactly what storage size you need...the 5.5 quart is huge! I believe it could hold an entire box of cereal...a wonderful LARGE size :)

It's a great container, but you should know few things: 1) a water test revealed that the seal around the lid is not wholly air tight--I got a very, very slow drip leak at one of the corners (for comparison I also tried a red-lidded Rubbermaid container I had lying around--water gushed out of that one). I am certain that granules of flour and sugar will exacerbate this problem. I don't have pantry pests (*knocks vigorously on wood*), so I don't know how these containers will fare under that kind of assault. 2) They must be hand washed. I only store dry goods in these (and tend to just restock the same item in the canister), so this is a non-issue in my case. The lid can trap water at the button,so be sure that if you wash it you allow it plenty of time to dry before use. 3) I've read many complaints about these shattering. All I have is the "anec-data" that my toddler pulled it off the shelf onto the tile floor below (maybe a 2 foot drop)--not only did the canister not shatter or crack, but the seal didn't break. Luck? Possibly, but I can only report what I know. Why did these work for us? I have a cavernous pantry where things get lost easily and there's a lot of chaos in my household at meal prep time. The translucence of these canisters, ease of opening and closing, and way that they fit together on the shelf save me a lot of money in wasted food and needlessly overstocking on seldom used dry goods while also saving me time looking for stuff. They're expensive, but in my household's case, they're ultimately worth it.In sum, if you have a system that's working for you--these canisters are probably a case of the enemy of "good" being "better." But if your pantry is a disaster (as ours was), these might be just the thing!

The reason that I purchased these clear bins was to organize my pantry. I am not one to leave these out on the counters, as I prefer my counters empty. The previous Walmart junk that these replaced were "translucent" and so it was hard to tell the difference between flours and other things that have a similar consistency and color. For this purpose, they are superb. I read reviews on here that they can break, and often do, in shipping. My 22 containers arrived perfectly, each individually bubble wrapped, and then the lot of them stuffed into one gigantic box.The have since been dropped off the counter, once filled with raisins (fairly heavy) and once filled with gluten-free spaghetti (think 10 pound brick). No cracks or damage from either incident. My ONLY dissatisfaction with this product are the dimensions. The specs say the bins are 6-1/4 square. Well I purchased them thinking to completely convert my 22" W x 80" H Closet-Style Pantry into a visual buffet. The sliding shelves in my pantry are 18" Wide x 20" Deep on the inside of the tray. I just wasn't willing to risk the price and hassle of shipping these with the plan to stack them three abreast and three deep (9 per tray) knowing that the extra 1/4" each = 3/4" overall) might make them too large, so I ordered the skinny but same height version for the middle row of each shelf.Bottom line, they arrived, and would have fit perfectly three abreast in my drawers, but the box said 6-1/4 and that is true of the top, but the bottom is only 5-3/4" so knowing the other dimension would have been extremely helpful. They are fantastic at what they were designed for. You will not be disappointed.

I've bought a number of these containers in a variety of sizes for my wife to store her baking goods in, and I'm consistently impressed with their quality. Granted, at their price point, I probably wouldn't settle for any less than what we've gotten, but I'm considering these a long-term investment and so far, it looks like it's going well. The containers store nicely together, sitting on a shelf in our kitchen where they actually look quite professional, filled and labeled with their various ingredients. Contrary to a lot of other reviews, I also found that they seal quite tightly and securely, but we live in a fairly dry area where we don't see a lot of pests or moisture that might try to put that to the test.I did notice that the seal can appear poor when something like flour (or another fine-grain dry ingredient) is splashed up around the lip of the container - this allows for a tiny airflow or the slickness of the ingredient to kill the seal. To counteract this, I simply take a damp paper towel and clean the inner lip of the container and the rubber lid gasket every so often. Are these containers expensive? Absolutely. Are they worth it? I'd say so, provided you can keep them in good condition and make use of them for a good long time, which I find easy to do with any OXO product. If you find they're still outside of your price point, I've heard good things about a similar line of products sold at Wal-Mart that rely on a lever instead of a button. I haven't used them, but I have seen them used and they appear functionally identical to these containers at the surface level.

I bought the 2.4 quart sugar canister and the 2.1 quart tall spaghetti canisters together and Amazon insists on having one review for both.Sugar canister - does a good job. Cleaning it, it can be hard to get the top back together the correct way. It may look right, but when you put it back on and seal it, lift on the lid. If it comes off, try rotating the bottom piece of the top again. If you get it right, it will seal. The bottom piece has arrows, but they point in the direction for removing the bottom piece of the top from the top piece. You will want to take it apart for cleaning as other wise there are a lot of features between the two pieces of the top that will trap water when it's time to dry it.It has done an excellent job of keeping my sugar from becoming lumpy.Spaghetti canister: I have always stored my spaghetti in the cupboard with tape over the end of the opened package. Several times some has escaped and ended up on the floor where pieces seem to turn up for days. This is a nice way to store it and I can always see if I need to add spaghetti to my shopping list. The lid can be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned, but if you clean the entire lid it will take quite a while to dry. It is best to take off the bottom part and clean that, but sometimes you want to clean the part you touch with your hands! Same issues as the sugar canister top, but I don't clean these every day so I am willing to put up with the less than optimal design and have just purchased the flour canister today, several months after putting these first two into use.

For the longest time, I've been searching for a leak-proof plastic container that I could use with my Gulp! Fishing Baits. Gulp! Fishing Baits are soft plastic baits that fishermen use. They work quite well, but they work well primarily because they soak in the foulest marinade of fish juice mix. Gulp juice is something that can ruin a tackle box, backpack, car carpet, or just about anything. It strips paint, keeps kids off the lawn and is probably the topic of arguments of fishermen's other half.If you found this review because you typed in Fishing, Gulp or Bait, then you know what I'm referring to. For everyone else, if this works well for something as poisonous as Gulp juice,it should be adequate for grapes, jellybeans or anything normal people would put in these. For those few fishermen who are looking for a leak-proof container, I'd highly recommend these. This size works fine for me, but they have smaller and larger containers of the same lid design. My only recommendation for fellow fishermen would be to use a giant rubber-band to go over where the Push-Lock button is. I fish the jetties so a backpack is my tackle bag. A simple shift of a tackle box or anything that puts the right amount of pressure on that button lock and BAM! Entire fishing trip ruined, the girlfriend breaks up with you and your dog for some reason attacks you. If a rubber-band isn't an option, just keep it right-side-up and you'll be fine.
