For 40 quid (almost) these will need to be good; there are plenty of cheaper-by-far storage options. Saying which, buying Sistema or other high-end alternatives isn't free either, and decent boxes will last well enough that it seems to me to be wise to buy quality if possible.I have plenty of the Sistema boxes ( looking as new now as when i bought them years back), a few from Ikea (comparatively v cheap, and functionally good enough, as you would expect, but scratched and looking their age), and some no name items, which are all a bit broken, stained, shabby, or have lost lids. The majority have a clip-lock system of some sort, which these don't.The advantage is that the clip-down sides are reassuringly "sealed" (sealing in badness just as well as sealing it out i should think...), the disadvantage of the clip-down being that cheaper boxes seem to fatigue, and shatter under the clips, and that the clips are fiddly at time. The Joseph Joseph boxes have a slightly bendy rubber rim which flexes off easily, and which does seem to fit comfortably on with perhaps slightly more effort than the clip-lock types. What you get is 6 rectangular boxes and lids. The largest is 4.5l and is big enough for carting about cup cakes for a party, the smallest 230ml, which is too small for anything other than storing washers and odd screws (I suspect there are culinary applications too) This means there should always be one box which is just the right size for whatever needs you have. My only experience is that I often need more than one of the smaller sizes, so could imagine that there would be compromises in only having one of each size in the set. This would mean that one would either need 2 sets (there are smaller JJ sets which would at least avoid doubling up on the really big boxes, which I can't imagine being needed as often, in pursuit of this) or would need some smaller individual boxes alongside. This sort of defeats the object of this very nicely complete system. The lids all lock together in a fun rainbow, and sit inverted on top of the stacked boxes, which, if on display, and empty, makes for a pretty show. The material feels very tough, certainly harder than the Sistema boxes, which makes me think they are unlikely to scratch or stain. My favourite touch is that each box has a colour coded dot on the base, so it is possible to grab the correct lid without testing fit. I personally find it vexing trying on several lids for the various other boxes, and it is a revelation to think i will never need to do so again.Overall then, nice product, thoughtfully designed for real world use, but not head and shoulders better than alternatives, and perhaps not perfect in terms of actual use.

You can never have enough storage boxes that are air tight, that can be used in the freezer but also look stylish.Six sizes and they all stack into each other so not lots of space is needed in a cupboard when not using them all.I love the fact that the boxes have a colour coded dot on each that corresponded to the lid, so much easier than trying to grapple to get to fit the right one on. The bright colour scheme is the thing for our kitchen and they feel strong not weak plastic and feel as though they last a long time. What I found was when all but the top largest lid is on them, then the very top one will not fit comfortably. Did not want to leave them without a top lid on as I was thinking that dust or crumbs would get into them.Yet take a box out then it does, and no crumbs able to get into any boxes.I think they will be really handy for picnics and using to store baked goodies if cakes etc. Son already used a couple for his cooking lesson at school and no leaks or drips from them and one make was a fruit salad. Cheese crackers from a newly opened box ideal for these, no more soggy crackers plus you can also see what the item is. Yes, these are certainly being put through some use and to the test, and not just another attempt to open up more packets of biscuits just to see what colour coded box keeps freshest for longest. Son's idea about the biscuits, but not a bad one.The full price does seem expensive at first thought, but then when you consider another make plastic storage box bought on its own then add another five to make it up to six. Not all able to fit into a small space like these do and also look stylish, I know which ones I would choose. These. Just make sure that if you do lend one of these out with a frozen meal or something in it, to get it back as soon as possible, otherwise it might be kept. As once you have tried these boxes the other makes do not seem quite as good.UPDATE. Just done a freezer sort out and replaced lots of freezer bags with these. They actually take up less space than all the bags I was using, plus you get to see clearly what is in them. Easy to open even after being in the freezer for a few days too.

It's difficult to get really excited about plastic food containers, but these cute and colourful ones from Joseph Joseph are at least good to look at.I had a new kitchen 3 years ago, and foolishly opted for a small fridge. As we eat a lot of fresh food, and this invariably takes up a lot of space, I am constantly juggling stuff around in this undersized fridge.Next time I will specify a much larger fridge, but in the meantime I am using storage boxes of varying sizes to keep things in order. These Joseph Joseph boxes are cheerful - with brightly coloured lids - and easy to spot amongst the piles of stuff. They also help keep more fragile items safe from being knocked about - tomatoes and mushrooms for example.I am now pre-preparing boxes full of cut items - sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, lettuce, cucumber chunks, etc. Combining this with a set of menus for each week and the JJ boxes do make life a lot easier. The lids fit together in a neat stack, with the lugs on the lids clipping together so you don't have the curse of "lost lids" and then the containers nest together underneath. There are small coloured dots on the containers which correspond to the lid colour, so no lid matching problems here. The whole thing comes in a sturdy card box, so you could use this as a storage method for times when you aren't using them.As all my containers are now fully used and stacked in my fridge, I have sent the box off for recycling - let's hope I don't regret that move later. They seem to be 'everything' safe, and have friendly rounded corners. The lids snap in place easily and I think they are waterproof - but I'll hold off on stacking them upside down full of beetroot on my favourite armchair to test that theory for the moment! The only downside I can see is the price. At about £40 for 6 boxes they are not cheap items to buy. However, they do seem to be of a very high quality, and they do serve a genuine purpose very elegantly, so I guess I probably would pay this for a set.

This is a quality set of 6 rectangular containers with rounded corners which arrived, in a box measuring around 26.5 cm x 22 cm x 15 cm.On opening, the plain bases were all nestled inside each other with the colourful lids slotted together on top.Sizes - small to large (1 of each):✩ YELLOW : 230 ml / 8 oz✩ ORANGE : 540 ml / 18 oz✩ RED : 1.1 L / 37 oz✩ PURPLE : 1.85 L / 63 oz✩ TURQUOISE : 3 L / 101 oz✩ GREEN : 4.5 L / 152 ozThis is a size guide based on what I had available to hand in the kitchen to test out:~ the smallest one (YELLOW) took 8 piccolo tomatoes~ the mid-sized one (PURPLE) took 4 x large lemons & 3 limes~ the largest one (GREEN) swallowed 17 red potatoes of varying sizes plus a long, thin sweet potatoWhen not in use, the set takes up minimal space in a cupboard and easily fits back into the sturdy box, if required.Special features of the containers (from the side of the box):♦ Food safe♦ Airtight lids♦ Freezer safe♦ Dishwasher safe♦ Microwave safe♦ BPA FREEThe well-fitting lids with their coloured lightly flexible rims are easy to put on, and take off with the help of the 2 extended tabs on opposite corners. Each lid has a rectangular indentation (with the Joseph Joseph© logo embossed within). This enables the click together facility for the lid storage and does collect water in the dishwasher, which, for me, is a little bit on the negative side. The base is also Joseph Joseph© embossed, along with the use & care symbols, size, min & max temperature (-20°C/+100°C) not forgetting the coloured dot reminder for the matching lid. Although the latter embellishment may be (arguably) a little superfluous, in my case this provided a great opportunity for a matching game for the young ones, as we get ready for end of term storage of a non-food variety. Also currently available as a

We have quite a few Joseph Joseph products in our kitchen - all are very well designed and well made, if a little more expensive than some other brands. This set of storage containers is up to their usual high standard and is easy to store and to use. A very practical design where the containers stack inside each other and the lids clip inside each other then the lids fit on top of the container stack to store. Even if one of the lids is being used the remaining ones still clip inside those being stored - a good bit of design. Each lid is a different colour and a coloured spot on each container identifies the correct lid for it; the only thing I would have done differently if I had designedthem would be to have the sizes follow in rainbow order - but that's a pretty minor niggle!!We have been using a set of storage containers from Lakeland for the best part of ten years and this Joseph Joseph set will hopefully do at least as well in the years to come. Amazon has provided a short video showing just how the set stacks and the relative sizes of each container - it's worth a look if you are considering buying. The plastic used is BPA free - if you want to know why this is a good thing check Bisphenol A on Wikipedia! The containers are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe - the lids are not microwave proof however. Even at the rather high price I will still give these containers five stars.

As with all Joseph Joseph products these not only are beautifully designed for purpose, they look very beautiful too. They have been designed to address two problems in addition to their primary function as food containers:1. Taking up an unwarranted amount of space2. Keeping track of and matching up lids to containersThis they do. The containers stack so the total amount of space needed is for the largest container. The lids stack and click together and are colour coded so you always know which lid goes with which container. So far, so good.According to the blurb they can go in the microwave, the dishwasher and the freezer. If this is true then they are truly a fantastic product. I have to say that, after the limited use of a few days, this all does seem to be true. However, experience makes me fear that long term use may cause problems with the fitting of the lids. If this occurs, I will amend this review. My main problem with Joseph Joseph products is that they look so pretty all stacked up and pristine, that I find it very hard to break into the stack and actually use them. I used to have the multi colour Joseph Joseph Nest 9 Plus, 9-Piece Set of bowls and strainers but I couldn’t bear to use them, they looked so beautiful. In the end I had to give them away even though they were both practical and useful, because I preferred looking at them to using them.

I like useful things that combine with practical sense and function really well. These containers are more than just containers. The higher quality product invites use in new areas.I've nicked the largest one to store some of my bag things that I don't need every day but want them in one place for immediate access.I like colour. these containers bring a cheeriness to storage containers. Over time I'm sure one will come to recognise the colour and know what size the container is.We tend to reuse and recycle small take-away containers. But often the lids don't match. These containers will never have that problem. Also the lids can clip to one another. It's a small little feature but really useful and practical. This is the sort of innovation that I find shows an attention to detail.I went to Brighton Churchill Square where there is a large Lakeland shop. I hadn't heard of Joseph products before, but once I got in there I can see that it's a respected brand with a lot of different products.I'm not going to put these containers to the sword with curry-staining sauces in them. Even if they do come out in the dishwasher. For me they will be used wisely probably within the house. But that's just me I guess.

While I find it's difficult to get excited about plastic storage boxes, particularly a set with this price tag, one member of my household finds anything Joseph Joseph irresistible and so she was taxed with admiring and testing this set.The set contains six boxes with lids, all colour coded (each box has a plastic moulded dot underneath it which matches the coloured surround on the lid), the box bases stack inside each other and the lids all fasten together. The range of sizes is good, ranging from 230ml to 4500ml, which covers most eventualities. Not sure if it is a manufacturing defect just in our set, but we have found that the smallest box (with the yellow lid) is not fully watertight, and does leak a little, which is very disappointing in a set of this value. The others seem to be fine, so it is possibly not a universal problem.Overall we are happy with this set, and, while we would be unwilling to pay the full price for them, would purchase them again.

How do you do something new with a plastic box? It is, afterall, just a box, made of plastic. Surprisingly, Joseph Joseph have actually managed to do some new things with this most mundane of kitchen items. Firstly, the boxes nest together for storage, which is a nice feature at times, although once you start using multiple boxes it makes for a less elegant nest as the lids no longer clip together. Secondly, the colourful lids are colourful for a reason - there is a correspondingly coloured dot inside each box, so you can easily find the right size lid. For me though, the best aspect of these boxes is simply that they're nicely made and finished, and the lids clip on without any sort of mechanical catch or flap.I generally find these sort of latched boxes fall apart after a while, so the simpler design here should hold up better in the long run.So there you have it, Joseph Joseph have managed to do something clever to the plastic box. Nice work chaps.

I acquired my set of Joseph Joseph Nest Compact Storage containers a few years ago, and they genuinely have been the best food storage items I've had. These are ideal for kitchens where space is at a premium and where storage containers are in temporary rather than permanent use. Mine have been used extensively as lunchboxes and for storage of leftovers.I love the way that the colourful lids are designed to nest inside each other and fit securely over the nest of boxes. This is such a clever, compact solution. No more hunting in the cupboard for a lid to match one of the boxes you have as leftovers from different storage sets bought over the years. The lids gently ease on to the sturdy storage containers and stay in place.Removal isn't a tough job though, it means gently easing the lids off via the useful tabs. Definitely 'frustration free'. Mine still look very new after heavy use, and with luck, will last me for many years more

Quality always costs and in the end you get what you pay for. Enter Joseph Joseph and these really useful boxes. Each one is a different size and has a different colour lid. The lids fit beautifully and seal really well. Washing these boxes is easy as there are no funny lips or edges that hold water you have trouble getting out. The boxes are rigid and I feel will last for many (many) years. Sizewise, the largest one is perfect for sandwiches whilst the smallest one is not a lot of use as it is SO small - perhaps a few herbs for picnics/barbecues, perhaps! The rest of the boxes are all useful sizes and best of all, they stack inside each other, even the lids stack together in clever little cut outs that hold the lids all together. All in all maybe a lot of money to pay for storage boxes, but these should last for many years which in fact, makes them a bargain.

My drawer for plastic storage containers was a hot mess until I got this set. There are several things I really like about it: the lids snap together so they stay in place. The containers nest within each other perfectly to save space in the drawer. The rubber lining around the lids with the little corner lips make it easy to pop the lids on and off. They're sturdy and they're easy to wash up. I love the varying sizes,I use the bigger ones for dinner leftovers and as my packed lunch box for work. It was well thought out that each container has a color dot on the bottom so you can quickly grab the matching colour lid without thinking too much. This is my third Joseph Joseph product and yet again I am delighted with my purchase, item arrived securely and prompt. If you found my review helpful please click the helpful button underneath, Thank you !

I LOVE these storage boxes, have thrown out most if my old Tupperware since getting them and gained nearly a whole extra shelf in my cupboard. The largest one is fab for cakes or salad, I made a huge pasta salad to take to a barbecue and would have had to split it between Tupperware before but all fitted in the one large box.The lids all clip together even when some bits are missing and there is a little coloured dot on the bottom of each box so easy to see which lid goes with which. They are dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe and easy to shut and open. I have kept a few of my tiny storage boxes as extras as obviously there's only one of each size and I occasionally need a few of these but basically there's a box size for every occasion.Well worth splashing out on.

The six different sized containers are colour coded and stack together very well. Indeed the stacking with interlocking lids works even when some dishes/lids are missing. They seem strong with rubbery seals to the lids. All good so far. When I first got these they did not appear to be watertight however after washing they now don't seem to leak but I would still be wary of putting one loose in a rucksack etc. However lying flat on a fridge shelf they are very good with no odours noticeable. I did test it with a combination of vinegar and onion and there was no "leaked" smell in the fridge. The only drawback for me is the price but if you are happy to pay for the colour and stackability then theywould be a good buy.

I've had loads of plastic storage boxes in the past. Invariably I have misplaced lids or the clips break and/or they are difficult to clean. Ultimately I end up with a handful of boxes, some lids and no match. Based upon the last months worth of use these seem different. The lids are colour coded to the boxes and just push fit on. No clips to break. They are easy to clean and fit together well. The idea of the nesting lids is a good one which not only eases storage but alerts you immediately when one of the lids has gone astray. The quality appears to be a step up from the stuff I have bought in the past. Even dark and acidic marinades have not stained the boxes so far.Looking good for a long term review.
