Our kitchen units are crammed with cylindrical containers of all sorts of ingredients, and I finally decided to get irked by the waste of space that cylinders represent in the great scheme of things, all that space wasted with a circular cross section that could be taken up with foodstuffs! These have gently rounded corners and slightly tapering sides, but just enough to get a grip on them without wasting precious cubic centimetres. Yes, our old cupboards are not huge, and we really don't like things cluttering the worktops, especially storage things.I thought that the press down button atop each container was to create a slight vacuum effect in the container, but it is actually just to push the black silicone seal on the lid outward to seal the container. It's a neat system, but it remains to be see how this works out for durability (so I've not rated durability yet). The heights of the various containers are well worked out (at least for our cupboards) to fit into typical shelves while leaving a bit of headroom to make things easier to take out. It's worth measuring to see whether your units will work well with them. Having the slight taper top to bottom, and the slightly rounded corners really helps make them easy to pick out from a set, and we've already noticed that we're getting better quantities of stuff like pasta and rice stored. They're a doddle to clean as well. We wash new storage containers by habit, so that was the first thing we noticed. Again the rounded corners meant nothing could hide, and the lid was simple to clean too, although it needs to be separated into two components to wash and dry properly - it does this with a simple twist before separating the two parts. I'm not too keen on things that need a bit of simple disassembly to do something routine like cleaning, especially things that can break fairly easily, so I'm hoping that they shouldn't need regular washing out. With dry foodstuffs this should be the case.It doesn't affect the star rating, but the slick smoothness might make them "interesting" to pick up with wet hands, something we don't do much anyway. If that's a problem then Oxo might need to make silicone grip bands or some handy invention like that, which slides up the taper of the container until it fits tightly - but that's just the inventor in me speaking. They're good out of the box, let's see how they stand up to some torture!

I love these containers – they’re pleasing to the eye, easy to use and the clear plastic provides an excellent view of the contents. I had slight reservations when I bought them because of the feedback from a customer stating that they’re not airtight as a water test had proved them not to be. Also someone said that biscuits had gone soft and another said that they’re not bug proof. However, I was reassured by the wealth of wonderful feedback and I assumed that those who weren’t happy had received rare faulty ones. I tested them myself with water and couldn’t understand how they can be airtight and not watertight (not that I intended to store liquids in them as I understand that they are not intended for this purpose)– surely, I thought, if water can seep in and leak out of the containers through the seal then they can’t be airtight. I Googled this query and didn’t get a definitive answer. I contacted Oxo with this query and am now reassured that they are hermetically sealed so, as long as the containers are stored in an upright position then they are airtight. Problem solved – thank you OXO – not that I would have parted with them even if they had proved not to be airtight.

I am a big fan of the OXO good grips containers since picking one up from the states a while back. I have started to amass a collection now and I am slowly replacing all of my other "tupperware" type containers. This unit is quite large; my best way to describe it would be to imagine fitting around 8 oranges inside it. These boxes also are made of a hard plastic, unlike other food containers which are a little flexible; these have no bend in them. The lid is genius, and very easy to operate. Just one push gets it airtight and the button doubles as a handle to remove the lid. No longer do you have to attempt to squeeze a lid into a tiny groove which seems too small! It also comes apart easily to be cleaned.Food stays fresh and biscuits stay crunchy. My only "con" would be that they are a little more expensive than a normal food tub, but you can see this is a far superior product, and you get what you pay for. They stack nicely and I will eventually have a beautifully organised pantry. I would definitely recommend.

Valuable aromas stay in, other aromas stay out (important in my fridge). 1.4L holds two 250g packs of coffee. This lets me mix one decaf and one normal pack, to get my preferred caffeine dosage from a double-espresso (100% decaf has no buzz, and 100% normal makes my head ache). The size is just right to scoop up coffee with the funnel-shaped coffee-holding bit of a stove-top espresso maker. The flat sides are good for tamping the coffee flat into that holder.I expect it would be good for storing anything aromatic (e.g. tea, tea bags, tobacco) or want to keep moisture in or out.The seal works best if kept free of granules or powders, as others have noted, but does a decent job even with a few bits of coffee ground. When I take it out of the fridge, it doesn't smell of coffee which means the coffee aroma is not escaping.Plastic sides are thick and strong, which is welcome. Well deserved 5 star rating, I have bought one as a gift for my coffee-drinking girlfriend.

I have tried a few air tight storage containers and OXO line beats them all. This piece is perfect to store spaghetti or lasagna. It's a great way to organize your kitchen cabinets and save space. I have added several other containers in this line.UP SIDE:1) These containers are airtight and keep foods fresher longer. I love that they include how to wash them properly (you need top remove the seal before washing).2) Easy to use, just pop the center down to seal and unseal.3) The containers easily stack up and are great space savers.4) The containers and lids are full sized, no curved lids or concave containers like others that store less then thought.DOWN SIDE:1) Although they stack nicely, they do not lock together and sometimes they fall when my 84" pull out cabinet is opened or closed too quickly. It's minor.I am a huge fan of these storage containers and will be purchasing more of them. You cannot beat the function, sleek design and value.

Before buying, a few common sense things I'd like to point out before continuing the review that i have seen people complain about in the reviews. 1. I recommend measuring out the space you plan to store it in with the dimensions provided on the containers page because its very big. 2. If you absolutely, positively need a container that will be 100% air tight no matter what, don't get this...its a plastic quick release kitchen container...it's not a miracle. It can store dry foods and cereal pretty way. I myself use it for pasta and spaghetti storage as its tall enough for that. It's a ridged enough solid container, but once again, don't expect to drop it on the floor when it's full of stuff and expect it to not get cracked, treat it like any piece of kitchenware, with respect, honestly this review is just a response to the negative reviews this product gets that I didn't think it deserved, people seem to think it can do everything lol.

They look neat, and the pop-up seal is so efficient and easy to use, especially when I'm on auto-pilot trying to get the tea-bags and sugar together for my first cup of tea in the morning. I've seen a similar pop-up mechanism on containers from Wilko's, half the price, but they involve delving for a hinged handle and until I've had that first cuppa, that would be just too complicated for my poor half-awake fingers. The main downside is that the plastic is quite fragile/brittle, more vulnerable to getting broken than the 'tupperware' sort of plastic. One of my containers arrived cracked at the bottom corner, but Amazon replaced it immediately - thank you.If you prefer to have them non-see-through,or want them to match your kitchen colours, do what I did and take out the glossy paper liner, put fablon (or similar) over the outside of it, cut the fablon so that it covers the liner exactly, and then replace it inside the container.

These are better than I hoped they would be. I bought 3 to keep flour in and they were a second choice for me. I really wanted tin tins, saying ‘FLOUR’ on them. I couldn’t find 3 different that met my needs though - so I bought these. I’m very glad I did. The lid works just as described. Press the knob down and the lid seals, press it again, the lid unseals and the knob is a handle.I’m not a person for decanting things from it’s packaging into another container. My wine stays in a bottle and my cornflakes live in their kellog’s box. These containers are excellent for that. A standard 1.5Kg bag of flour fits easily inside the container, and because the walls are transparent the bag is completely visible,so what type of flour it is and how much is left is immediately obvious.Having viewed them as second choice, they have completely exceeded my expectations and would buy them again without hesitation.

Easy popping buttons & cleaning for everyones hands including arthritics. These are used for teabags, sugar, cocoa beans, spices and biscuits. In previous containers over time some food items (biscuits) would smell or taste damp, doesnt matter if the containers were cheap or expensive, same problem, food items were then thrown in the bin, wasting money & time. Now everything is fresh & tasty even the teabags! The seals on these containers have lasted over 4 years with opening & closing & washing and are still strong now. Tempted to replace most of the kitchen cupboards with these oxo grips branded pop & lock containers as they are so useful. Being see through containers gives the advantage of when they need to be refilled.I fully recommend to others as something which everyone should buy for their household.

I had one of these with dry ingredients in, and decided, as the seal is such a good vacuum, to try one for soup to take to work daily. It is absolutely fantastic: so far, totally leak-proof, unlike many other things I have tried, and, having removed the lid (although probably not entirely necessary, you could just loosen it) the soup can be heated in a microwave, or alternatively poured into a mug (it holds about two-thirds of the capacity of one of my mugs) and heated. The benefit over a flask is that even the smallest flask is too big for just a single cup of soup. Highly recommended therefore for both dry and liquid ingredients. The only minor drawback is that the top, as others have noted, takes ages to dry out if immersed in water. I pop mine on the radiator to speed up drying time.

Wonderful container and the cheapest price on the market. I recently got the bug for a (little OCD) reorg of my pantry. I wanted all the flours, sugars, grains, pastas to be in their containers. The containers needed to be airtight, light, clear, square and.nice. And this products meets all the requirements. I have bought several now and labeled them - they look stunning! On a technical note, they are much lighter than glass jars (I am always concerned about breaking the shelves), they are airtight (got a moth infestation in my dry soup mix not long ago) and they are easy to open and close.I would recommend them to every one.In particular the 1.4lt version as it's perfect for a pack of 1kg of sugar or flour (with some little extra space at the top so it does not get squashed).

I've switched to these containers for storing my various teas and find that the push-down button system for creating an air-tight seal works well. They are easy to handle and lighter-weight when full than glass containers. The ease of opening and sealing the lids makes them particularly suit storing things that one uses frequently, such as tea. I can store 8 of these smart-looking containers on a shelf in a standard 50cm wide and 30cm deep kitchen wall-cupboard. The 0.9 litre capacity easily stores 0.25kg loose-leaf tea or 50 tea-bags. I think these containers are more suitable for storing dry goods such as flour, tea, coffee or biscuits and would not be so good for wet or oily foods that might get into the pop-up/down mechanism for creating the air-seal.

The top button pictured pushes down, creating a vacuum to keep the lid down. Nice and tall enough for spaghetti. It's not fiddly to open and close because of this large button on top - this is both a positive and a negative depending on who's going to have access to it. If it's required to be child proof for whatever reason, look elsewhere, however, if it's for an adult who has fine motor skill issues (e.g. arthritis, stroke victim, recovering from injury) but is striving for independence, then I would highly recommend it for its easy of use (there is a wide oxo range available if needs be). From personal experience,it is quite strong and I have dropped it a number of times and it has not cracked yet (it's made of thick plastic).
