The boxes are shallow, except the 5.5 litre box. Make sure you want what's advertised, as there are three the same size (800ml). My photos show six sausage rolls, plus two shown separately that wouldn't fit in ("I'm going to bake some scale objects"). Essentially, This Set offers several small storage spaces and one large one. But the ability to store the smaller ones within the larger one is very useful. It stores the largest box in a way that feels neat and oddly satisfying. The boxes are almost transparent so you can easily see what's inside, whether food or other boxes! It's a good investment for years to come. I've had dozens of Lock & Lock containers for years, enough to build a fort.I've tried many storage manufacturers but I recommend Lock & Lock for airtightness AND reasonable value for money e.g. This Set for just over 19quid.I like having a freshness draining tray for the large box. Previously these were only available in the Lock & Lock bacon boxes which are much narrower. Draining trays are useful not only for certain foods but for defrosting.Read the boxes as they have the care and usage info. They come with a peel-off label and with built-in "print" (so it won't wash off) as follows:(a) The underside of the base gives the capacity in millilitres, ounces and quarts; Lock & Lock reference or catalogue number e.g. HPL806; symbols indicating it's safe for the dishwasher [upper basket only!], freezer etc; manufacturer name/model "Lock & Lock"; "made in Vietnam".(b) The lid says "Open lid prior to use in a microwave oven. Only reheatable, not for cooking." Like all plastic, long microwave use would start melting the container.(c) The peel-off label on certain lids reads "BPA-free", "absolutely air-tight", and "AIRTIGHT. STACKABLE. FREEZER OK. MICROWAVE OK. DISHWASHER OK". But note the Amazon page advertising saying upper dishwasher basket only.About This Set and all Lock & Lock boxes:A. Well-made, sturdy and durable. They last for years. On the rare occasions they fail it's the lids that go - flap hinges or the rubber seal. The bases are eternal.B. They're as good as transparent so you can always see what's inside.C. Bases and lids are dishwasherable in the upper basket. Like all plastic, they tend not to dry fully in a dishwasher.D. Freezer use. Tip: For fast and easy identification (and less label-writing) I put liquids in cylindrical containers and more solid food in rectangular boxes.E. Like all plastic, certain foods can stain them e.g. heavily tomato-based or with red/orange spices.F. They've proved watertight so far, but I don't risk transporting them unless they're always kept upright. Best to test for yourself.G. Like all plastic, knives can scratch them.Buying as an intro to Lock & Lock or as a gift? - please may I offer a few tips?1. When new, flaps/"locks" feel stiff and need some welly to open/close - this is normal.2. Occasionally a flap/"lock" fails at the hinge, or the blue rubber strip breaks. I've had to replace only three or four out of dozens over many years. This Set feels to be the same usual Lock & Lock quality.3. Collecting them can become an addiction!4. Beware of imitations. Imitations, in my experience, were false economy. Imitator components aren't interchangeable with Lock & Lock's; at first glance you think they are, but they aren't.4. It makes less work to stick to only one make (not many anyway) of storage container. This review is for Lock & Lock Storage Container, Clear/Blue, Set of 6.

These are by far my favorite kind of food storage containers. I'm quite picky about them as I usually take my lunch to work - I won't tolerate spilly / drippy lunches all over my bag. I've had this set for about 6 wks, but I've had others in the past that lasted for years. This brand is really great. Although technically, you can microwave them (and the lids) - I did so and it was either too long, too hot, too powerful, or too tightly sealed b/c the top warped. However - it still works fine and somewhat went back into shape. I imagine you might want to be careful with freezing as well (don't fill to the top or you'll bust the lid off). I prefer the 2 smaller sizes... the large one is really quite large (5.5L)and barely fits in the typical UK flat-size fridge - I ended up pulling out one of my crisper drawers, and using this instead, to store half used veggies. The large one also comes with a plastic 'grate' that is the same size as the bottom - not sure what this should be used for - I suppose if you put something drippy in there. Though the grate is mere mm above the bottom of the bin, so I'm not sure how effective / useful it is.UPDATE: Not that its really required... but these are still great 1.5yrs later. Quality product, I won't use any other kind of tupperware / resealable container. I put these in my backpack regularly - never a single leak. I don't put them in the dishwasher & clean the rubber seal about every few months, and try to avoid the microwave... but ya know.. husbands and all.... I have found a use for the very large bin - I have been storing my 1/2 used veg in there, I put a paper towel under the plastic 'grate' - this keeps everything very fresh, veg lasts much longer than the usual crisper drawer method.

The appeal of Lock & Lock containers means you have a tight locking system thanks to the flaps on each side of the lid which 'lock down' over the box with a satisfying click to protect and secure the contents inside. The cheaper version I purchased would not lock securely on one side and therefore was not locking securely. Although I did think I had managed to lock it on one occasion, it actually popped open. I have had no such problem with Lock & Lock containers as they lock easily and are watertight. Not once have I had a problem with these popping open or leaking, even when dropped on the floor. My daughter reguarly uses these for work and has transported sandwiches, pasta and even soup inside these boxes with no problems.I also use them for storage in the fridge as well as the freezer. They keep products fresher for longer once opened and the boxes can easily be stacked snugly on top of each other, which is handy if space is an issue. You are advised to remove the lids before microwaving, but I often just loosen the lids and leave them resting on the top to prevent splashing.Washing the boxes is also easy and of course they are safe to use in dishwashers too (on the top shelf). The only problem I have experienced is if I have used the boxes in the microwave when they have contained anything tomato based, such as baked beans or pasta sauces, bolgnese etc as this leads to the box becoming stained and that orange-red staining does not appear to be removable. There are many different designs and sizes in the Lock & Lock range so whatever your requirements there should be something for you.

I have used lock and lock containers for several years and have found them to be reliable and robust, even when both base and lid are washed in the dishwasher. My containers will probably have each gone through the dishwasher more than 100 times without any detriment to their performance and only slight discolouration.Mine are used for both wet and dry storage and mostly in cupboards or the fridge and just once in a freezer (it was fine in the freezer, I just don’t normally decant into a container when I freeze goods). Except when I have damaged a container or lid by dropping and causing a crack,I have never had a leak or spill due to a poorly fitting lid or seal. The only negative I have about the entire range in general is that the containers use up a lot of space in the cupboard as their design does not easily allow storage - items that are the same size will not stack one inside the other because they have straight sides. This set resolves some of that issue as the smaller containers will all fit inside the larger so, until that one is used, you have all your Lock and Lock containers neatly stored in one place, easily accessible and ready to use.

Bought this set for the large container with the freshness tray as it was recommended to me to store salads in and keep fresh for up to a week. Well it is good and does keep prepared salad nice and fresh, I haven't seen whether the salad lasts a week as it's gone before then! It is a bit bigger than I thought and does take up a fair bit of space in the fridge. However, you could easily fill it with salad for the week all in one go.The other containers are 3 sandwich size ones and 2 smaller almost square ones. The sandwich ones I would like to be a little deeper, to fit say a lunch salad in it, but the smaller ones are useful for smaller quantity's.I've used them for storing home made coleslaw and left over beans rather than leaving them in the tin.No leaks at all, which is good obviously. I had a problem with 2 of the sandwich type ones, where the clips at one side didn't seem to close fully. This was promptly rectified by Amazon though, very impressed with their service. All in all, although the price seemed a lot for the containers, very happy with my purchase and I think worth the price.

I bought two of these sets for Christmas presents, but was so impressed,I kept the lot!I only use Lock and Lock as they are the only airtight, watertight, freezerproof and microwave proof ones on the market, plus,I find the cheaper copies are a struggle to close,as the seals dont line up properly, and as I am disabled,I find the original Lock and Lock ones a boon. The largest one has a draining tray in the bottom, which I didnt expect,so is ideal of thawing foodstuffs,or even as a replacement salad or vegetable box at the bottom of the fridge,or even a whole cooked chicken,or bread,or a rectangular cake.or transporting picnic food etc.The smallest ones are ideal for butter,or cream cheese, and themiddle sized ones, bacon,or pate.In fact, they are so useful,I will buy some more, and use half of them for fridge storage, and the other half for freezer storage.Lastly, they were very good value too,as you can pay three or four pounds for just one of the smallest boxes elsewhere.Oh yes,and they all stack inside the largest box ,or on top of each other, which is very space saving too.

I wasn't sure just how useful this 6 piece airtight storage set would be, but having received it and got the hang of closing the very airtight lids I now find that I could use another two sets !The range of sizes is good and pretty well accommodates anything we have found and want to keep airtight. One use, which I'd never considered, is using one for the storage of home made croutons (they do taste so much better that those bought in sealed packages). Normally I'd store something like these in a bowl enclosed with cling film but these containers are vastly better and I've managed to keep croutons crisp and fresh for up to a week without problem, something I could never do with the bowl and cling film method. As time passes we are finding more and more uses for them and can't recommend them highly enough - there's also a breakfast cereal container sold separately which is also a fantastic piece of kitchen kit.At the very reasonable price for these very high quality airtight containers, I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Just so you have an idea where I am coming from, I was re-using take away containers for the purpose of storing left overs and packing lunches. These storage containers have flip down clips on each side of the lid making a nice seal that has so far been liquid tight and I assume air tight as well. It is easy to find the right lid as it is obvious which ones are which, unlike take away containers which are different sizes, who knew? All the smaller containers store nicely away into the largest container, and the largest one also has a strainer insert at the bottom which has come in handy to allow juices or water from washing fruit/vegetables to collect.I find the sizes of each container to be useful as well 350,800ml and 5.5L.So other things to consider, each size does not fit into itself, so they are not stackable in that sense, the space taken by each container is larger than other storage containers because of the clips on the lids and last, because of the clips, it makes hand washing a little more tricky.

I didn't think i'd ever purchase a plastic container with flexible lids that you constantly have to flex in order to close and secure the lid purely because what you see in shopping markets is rubbish and they break off rendering the product useless...However this particular make is great. The lids really seal well and the plastic is designed to flex without "work-hardening" and cracking.Bought a 2nd set as addition for more containers of a different size. They simply flex and clip shut with an excellent seal. Easy to open and take freezing soup and other meals very well. I would say rather let the frozen items thaw before you flex plastic as this is just good practice and most materials (even metal)is brittle when frozen.Going to buy more and eventually replace most of my worn out Tupperware.

Good, but are they really air tight/leak proof?I'll start off by saying that I love L&L products, and have a number of their products in various sizes dotted around our kitchen.Whilst all of our containers contain dry goods, herbs, spices, flour, cereals etc., etc. haven't experienced any moisture ingress and meet our needs, some of the containers have leaked when washed. So if you want these items for dry goods, they are fine, but if you want to use them to store and transport liquid items then I would think twice before buying L&L.Whilst these products meet our needs, that lack of flexibility maybe not be for everyone and means that they don't represent overall value for money given this limited functionality, especially when you take the price of each container into account.

This bundle is great value, if you were to buy them individually they would be much more and they are a nice assortment of sizes too!I've always stuck with lock and lock although they can be pricey believe me they are worth it.Air tight, no liquid gets out as each lid has a rubber seal on it when it's clamped down shut with the clip down mechanism. The way it shuts is also important as it lids fit perfectly, with other cheap plastic containers, I just get frustrated with how the lids don't fit on properly, you spend half the time trying to get them on!With Lock & lock, it's just clip and go!I really should be a salesman for them, I love there products...Side note:Stackability (if thats even a word)is also great they sit on top of each other in the fridge perfect...

The Lock & Lock range is easily the best container storage system I have come across. No fiddly problems of mishapen lids not fitting or sealing. The only slight issue I have with this multipack is that the mid-sized units (you get 3) are a little bit shallower than I was expecting. Fortunately I have found alternative uses for them (was going to be for sandwiches) but to give an idea of height you can't quite fit a typical swiss roll inside one without squashing it. Other than that, I will continue to buy other L&L containers as they are of exceptional quality and the sealing effect doesn't suffer going from freezer to microwave to dishwasher and back to the freezer again.

I am *SO* happy with this product. I really wanted a set of truly water tight, air tight containers and these have not let me down, even after multiple washings in the dishwasher and by hand - they haven't lost their seal. The clips on the containers can be a bit tricky and hard to get closed at times, but it just takes resetting the lid in proper alignment with the base of the container to get it right. I would not recommend these to someone with arthritis, for example, but if you have a bit of hand strength and the need to take soup to work without getting it all over your phone, wallet, keys, papers, etc. in your bag - these are the ticket!

One really large box, 3 smaller ones (ideal for work lunches) and 2 really small ones. A great addition to my lock & lock collection. I use the biggest one for storing opened bags of spices, it's airtight so won't make everything else smell. Lock & lock don't leak, they're properly watertight. I often fill them with milk and throw into my bag to take to work, no disasters yet.My only comment against this set is that there are no medium size boxes, it goes from a massive one (which fits all the others inside it) to fairly small ones. So if you want a range of sizes, may not be ideal.

My wife was getting fed up with the smell of my fishing bait. Half opened bags of boilies and pellets hanging around that whilst "re-sealable" still left the odd whiff coming out of my "special" cupboard. And half opened bags take up a lot of room. The fruity flavoured ones weren't too bad, even the kids liked those. But the Krill and Prawn ones were not good.Bought a set of these, and voila!! Problem solved. I can now just take out a few of each that I need for my session and put the boxes back all neat and tidy in the cupboard. No smells, no fuss. Happy wife.Highly recommended.
