I now own several of these and use one for breakfast cereals, others for frequently used pourable dry baking ingredients such as some flours and sugar and others for dried pulses. For many things the pouring hole is adequate but it seems far too small for cereals such as corn flakes or the small Shreddies. The contents of a 500g pack of most breakfast cereals will just fit but only that of a 375g pack of corn flakes. That will provide some indication of real capacity.A 1Kg pack of sugar or a 3Kg pack of the flour will not fill the container. When raised, it is possible to 'lock' the flap as it clicks into an open position but it does not always stay open of its own accord.Although moderately air-tight,the flip-top lid will exclude dust and insects but it is not completely air-tight. Although it is possible to pour out the contents, a lip or spout around the hole would help greatly. A small recessed panel inset into both wider sides close to one edge provides a more secure grip although it is quite smooth and there is nothing that may help should your fingers be wet or greasy. There is also a smaller version with just over 50% of the capacity of this (2.4 or 2.6 litres from memory). There is no provision for labelling, temporary or permanent, and some adhesive paper labels will not adhere very permanently to the plastic material. Adhesive plastic labels may be a better solution.

Keeps stuff fresh, but if you are using it because of large cereal boxes beware this is tall = height to a 750g boxIt takes 750g of Frosties or500g cheerios (bash the contents and shake you can just fit 750g minus one bowlful ie pour a bowl then fill container) or2 x 500g boxes of ready brek (the stuff statics to the packet so if you don't need ready brek in a container do not bother)Opening small, you have to keep tipping back and forth to get majority of cereals out. Ok if your training kids on portion size, frustrating as an adult. (I have kids so bought 3 of these). Otherwise I would have bought the squarer front flap ones.pros Fits in the dishwasher ok.No plastic smell nor taste like other cereal containers cause.cons What would make this better is a choice of large or small holes to pour from and not so tapered to fit more in.If you are looking for a one hand pour warning its hard to hold and pour with one hand due to width and weight.as most freezers are below -4 I'm not sure of its ability for freezing in it, and its too large for a microwave so them stats on this are pointless.4 stars - as soon as the kids don't need them they are redundant, frustrating for adult use if contents are bigger than a grain of rice.

Great product, does what it says on the tin and keeps things fresh with a lid that you can pour from. I keep cereal in these (I have 2 of this size and 2 of the smaller ones) and can get 800G Cheerios in the pot.Only thing I would mention is that while it does stack on other flip top pots in the range it is not as snug a fit as the other Lock & Lock pots that have standard lids (which dont move when you stack them). But as you get the added flip top lid a slightly looser feel to the stacking is ok for me and a really worthwhile investment to make my kitchen feel so much neater (I hated all those loose cereal packets!)

I bought 2 of these for cereals, having already had 1 of the 3.9 litre version for many years. I thought the slightly larger size would allow my to fill with the bigger packs of cereal. However, the dispensing hole on this size is smaller than on the 3.9 litre version, so although the product is good, the cereal does cause a bottleneck when you try to dispense it into your bowl. You have to keep tipping it back up straight and trying again to get any in your bowl. This results in more cereal smashed to dust by the time you get near the bottom. If I had realised this, I would have preferred the smaller size for cereal.

Good containers for cereal. I bought them based on the measurements given thinking they would fit my dehydrated dog food as the box is the same size, but they are not 11.2 cm wide, at the lid these measure 10cm and the body tapers so at the mid point they are only 8cm wide and 7cm lower down. Also the small food scoop will not fit through the flip top opening. Amazon offered a return for refund or a 30% refund and keep, I chose the latter and now have cereal in them.

i have an awful lot of these all in the same brand and so far im very happy with them all, the lids have a tight fit so seal in all the goodness and keep out air and other smells, this size can be used for anything from cereal and biscuits to pasta and rice etc, i use mine for pasta and for a rough guide to size as the 4.3lt ment very little to me until i owned it i can fit a whole pack 1kg of dried pasta in it. i would say they are more than worth the money

Perfect container for dry cat food. About the size of a regular cornflake packet, so sits on the shelf next to our cereals. Yes it tapers to a slightly narrower base , but i knew that from previous purchases and from the dozens of Amazon reviews describing it....so no excuse to be surprised by that! Seals tightly, pours easily, tough material and all Lock & Lock products last for years - so pay a little more for the authentic brand, not a cheaper copy.

I've been looking for the perfect container to store and pour 5kg of rice. This isn't it. Whilst I love the quality of lock & lock, and have plenty of it, this fails as a rice store because a) it can't fit 5kgs (maybe 4kgs), and there isn't a slightly bigger version, and b) rice grains get stuck around the hole when you pour, travel under the flap hinge, and then get fired out into space when you re-open. My quest for perfect rice storage continues...

Very well constructed see through container, with vertical graduations etched down the pouring side .Appears to be totally waterproof & airtight.Shaped & designed with long groove down both sides for easy non-slip hand hold. Will keep any contents fresh & uncontaminated. The highest quality strong plastic container I could find on the market.Very reasonably priced by Amazon & delivered ' BLINDINGLY FAST'!Thank you Amazon!

Bought this to put Weetabix in (other brands are available..) for my other half as I was fed up with finding crumbs in the kitchen when I came home from work. It's great! The hole isn't really big enough to use for Weetabix but that doesn't matter as the whole lid comes off easily and quickly anyway. You can fit about 24 bricks in providing you ensure all the gaps are filled. Keeps the cereal fresh and no more crumbs!

This container is the perfect size for 2 x 1..5kg = 3kg bags of self raising or plain flour easily, strong clips and poring spout, sealed all round to keep your flour or whatever you store nice and dry, very, very pleased with this purchase, Lock & Lock are the perfect products to keep your items in perfect condition until your ready to use them, great buy, great seller and great service from OnBuy.

These are pretty big so you can store a huge box of cereal in them and keep it fresher for longer. The flip top lid also makes it easier for pouring so you don't end up with a load of contents spilling out. The near-perfect rectangular shape of these makes them easy to stack next to each other so less cupboard space wasteage and easy to slot in/out of place.

We're heading to France for the 2017 summer vacation and expanding our already LOCK & LOCK collection with this cereal container.Yes, we can confirm that a full 750gm box of Kellogg's Bran Flakes will easily fit into this 4.5 litre format (with room to spare), and easily 'pours' from the spout. As always, superb quality; water-tight and air-tight.

I now have 9 various LOCK&LOCK containers and this cereal container just like the rest is quality, it easily holds a 675gram box of rice crispies with loads of room to spare and have no problem pouring them out of the lid but probably more awkward with larger cereal as the opening is not that large. Very pleased with purchase quality container.

This is one of several Lock & Lock boxes that I own and I buy them when a good seal is required and have never been disappointed. I bought this one to store dishwasher salt and it takes a full 4kg which is why I wanted this size. It's not a cheap product but it suits the intended purpose I have for it so I am pretty satisfied.
