This game (which I just picked up for the DS) is one of the many spawn of the surprisingly successful "Brain Training", in this case a clone produced by Ubisoft, who are a company that I have at least heard of.The general format and style is really ripped straight from Brain Training: a quick graphable challenge intended to be done daily to show how much the game has improved your life; a number of puzzle-like mini-games (most of which are initially "locked") to "train" on in order to improve your score; a handful of non-"training" but presumably thematically similar "bonus" games; and a rather chatty guide character.I'm going to start by mentioning what's bad: the game unlocks things based (apparently)on how much you play (fair enough), but unfortunately after playing through all the initially-available mini-games (all five of them) once, nothing is unlocked, so if you didn't like them much, too bad, you'll have to play them some more in order to access the other games. This also suffers somewhat from the same problem that often plagues touch-screen games: if your hand/eye coordination is a little off (or you have inscrutable handwriting) then some of the games just won't like you - but thankfully that doesn't apply to the initial set available to you.The initial set of mini-games includes a simple visual logic game ("balance"), an annoying addition/subtraction game ("trout route"), a trivial but somewhat poorly controlled memory game ("traveling"), a cute little visual perception/count-the-whatever game ("ascending"), and an inexplicably-different stuff-dropping-down-the-screen game ("catching"). It's basically all drag-a-line or jab-to-select games of one kind or another, but they are more fun and less input-sensitive than Brain Training. The real difference that this game brings to the table, though, is the "stress testing", which does very similar games but under more pressure in order to gauge your level of stress or something. This includes it obscuring the screen somewhat during "ascending", having to tap to stop mice reaching the top of the screen while doing a pattern completion problem, having to do two games side-by-side, and having to do arithmetic while a rather angry and demanding character tells you what to do. It's very much as crazy and fun as it sounds. One final thing to note: the music is pretty funky, which is quite unusual for a puzzle game. So, if you want the best of this kind of game then you're probably better off with Brain Training or More Brain Training, but this game is a quite reasonable substitute, particularly if you're sick of rock-paper-scissors or trying to scrawl letters, numbers and symbols on the screen.

Having played several of the brain training games on the DS I have to say that I find this Brain Challenge a lot for more fun and more of a challenge than the older brain training games. You take a daily test which plays games in each of the categories Logic, Maths, Memory, Visual and Focus. Each days tests are different choosing from the 6 games in each category. The daily brain tests get harder and harder each time you play them and the combination varies every day. Similarly the stress test combinations are usually different too, choosing from Authority, Multitask and Physical. With 3 games in each category here. You also have a training room where you can play each game on easy, normal or hard. The aim being to try and get A+ in each category. So again there are plenty of options to keep you occupied for quite a while. There is also a bonus section with Creativity (3), Relaxation (3) and Sixth Sense (2). I haven't played these yet.So far I have unlocked 47 different games according to the statistics, so their is plenty of choice to keep you interested. The statistics also include details of things like correct answer ratio, Fast answer, slow answer, best brain test score and celebral age.An excellent game which I shall no doubt be playing for sometime yet.

Having played the Dr Kawashima brain training games I was unsure if I needed another similar game, but recently caught out overseas without my DS I bought this game for my IPod Classic. I liked the look & features of the game but struggled with the controls on my IPod.The DS version is great, it suits touch control more than wheel control! Also the stress tests (not featured on the IPod version) are really good fun & a little crazy. It also uses actual writing a lot less than the Dr Kawashima games which makes it less frustrating & more suitable for people with dubious handwriting & younger children.I like the way you unlock mini-games as you go (makes it more addictive),& have strangely found than the relaxing games can actually be relaxing. Only thing I'm not keen on are the 2 trainers (Barbie & Ken I think?!), but you can just zoom through their waffle!Great price too for a brain training game.

I bought this game in iTunes for iPod and only -so far- played it on the iPod.In my opinion, one of the better 'Brain Training' games, one for adults and kiddies alike, I found it fun, informative and very entertaining, -although I find choosing my answers to the questions & making choices using the iPod click wheel very frustrating! as it is not easy to be in control of the game, so you tend to choose the wrong answer -in error of course!! ;-)I have therefore ordered the Nintendo ds lite version from Amazon UK, and am looking forward to receiving the game when it's released at end February, particularly to having full control on the touch screen facility of Nintendo.'Brain Challenge'is cheaper than a lot of other like games and I think, definitely well worth the money on Amazon.Yvie

Having played Brain Training and More Brain Training, Brain Challenge is much more demanding and certainly lives up to its name. The puzzles get more complex, so just when you think you've mastered one game it then pushes you further, definitely not monotonous. The scoring is quite tough and I still haven't got an A+ in anything yet. The stress games are quite interesting - you get an impatient officer shouting at you if you make a mistake - it's quite comical. I think the hardest thing to grasp when you first play this game is working out which screen to look at, some games only use the bottom one and some you are looking at the top screen and inputting below.Overall a challenge and now Brain Training seems quite monotonous and boring!!

Having tried most of the other brain training games, I have to say that I was unsure about this one at first. It is, however, extremely good. There is a good variety of activities at different levels, and the relaxation games, which have to be unlocked, are different from other games and are quietly addictive. I am impressed also by the Stress Test activities, in which questions have to be answered while the attention is distracted by noises, creepy-crawlies etc. As a person who suffers from stress-related problems, I have found these activities to be helpful in learning to manage stress levels. I strongly recommend this game.

I love this game and play it every day. The only problem I've noticed is that no matter how you do, your brain % seems to go up every time when you do the daily test. My stress test scores vary greatly but even if I do badly, I get a higher result for the daily brain test. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has found this. The tests appear to be getting harder, but even if I get a poor result the end % is higher - this may be a way of encouraging you to continue, but makes me wonder how accurate the rating really is.That aside, it's an addictive game and way better than Brain Training in my opinion.

Someone brought me this game for Christmas and I've been playing it since then. It's by far the best brain training game that there is for the DS. It has a really good variety of games which can all be played at three levels so that they become increasingly more difficult and maintain your interest. There are also bonus games such as Tangrams which add even more variety. I think that you need to take the increasing percentage improvement in your brain capacity with a pinch of salt though as I've sure this is not accurate or I'll soon be a genius!!

i first bought this game for my phone and enjoyed it - i wasnt sure it was woth getting for ds aswell. However i'm so glad i did cos the gameplay is so much better. using the stylus, you get the full benefit. The games are certainely challenging and varied enough not to get bored, which makes the whole game great fun. If you want a change and something not so studious as brain and sight training i would reccommend this for all ages (I'm 45!)

So much more fun than the other brain training games. First of all lots of variety with loads more games to choose from. The original Brain Training can be a little boring and limited as A1 B2 C3 is not everyone's idea of fun. Best of all in the stress section is Animals with those nasty rats and spiders crawling over your screen as you inlock more games. Definite value for money with this one. Highly recommended to give it a go.

got this after i got bored with Brain Training and More Brain Trainingi think i counted 42 puzzles in all, you start off with a selection, and the rest are unlocked as you play (including some bonus games)with the daily test, the game chooses the puzzles, or the training room, where you choose what to playthere are two types of puzzles, 'brain' test and 'stress' test

8.3.2008

this is the best game of its type on the DS, and i have played / own them all!! Two daily tests to take, 5 categories, 5 games within each category, 9 stress tests and 9 bonus games too - its such excellent value for money - it will keep you busy for months!!Oh, and its great fun too!!im sure you wont be sorry if you buy this

I and my 11 year old both found this game a lot more fun than many other games in the brain training genre. Its got a lot of extra options and creative ways to exercise your brain and have fun at the same time. I particularly enjoy the series of stress tests.

I bought this as I wanted something different than the brain training games. It is excellent and I am hooked. I think its better than brain training as more puzzles of various types. If you enjoy this try Brain Benders which is just as good if not better.

8.12.2009

This is a really fun and challenging pack. The more you play, the more games you unlock. There is a choice of difficulty level and the stress training adds another dimension. More variety than Brain Training. Would definitely recommend.
