Having recently brought a Nintendo Switch Lite I was keen to find more quality JRPG's to enjoy on the go. I've seen many Atelier games doing the rounds on Steam and the PS4 but this was the first one I jumped into.Initial impressions are...fairly good all in all. This is a game that starts very slow following the enthusiastic, adventuring Ryza and her close friends on a journey to find 'meaning' and 'adventure' - ideally involving the beating to a pulp of hundreds of innocent monsters, ah well. The characters are mostly well worn JRPG tropes - so you have the adventurous main character, the 'must get stronger' type, the bookish, nerdy type, the mysterious sheltered girl type and the usual supporting heroes and villains.I would say they are broadly well implemented as tropes go, the focus on the main characters looking to 'grow up' and mature is a good focus, I will be interested to see where this story goes...hopefully.So note, its a slow start - and its one that treads well worn tropes.Graphically this is a fantastic looking JRPG, colours are particularly vibrant and battle animations are smooth and fluid. Its <ahem> a very easy on the eyes game if you catch my drift, Ryza is a likeable character who was clearly designed with maximum emphasis on making her a fan-favourite which shows quite visibly. Other characters fan service is less subtle, including an early on character that is hilariously top-heavy, ah amusing.Voice acting is well implemented but do note that this is a Japanese dub and the game uses a curious widescreen effect for cut scenes (and there are plenty of these), essentially portioning off a third of the screen top and bottom which seems a waste of screen space. The battle system itself is an interesting ATB system, after transitioning to the battle screen, character icons count down until its their 'turn' to act, there is no pausing and it can be quite fast paced, consequently you only control one character and the others are usually auto-controlled although you can switch from character to character. Truthfully I prefer turn based but this works well.Outside of combat and story the final segment of the game is the alchemy system, basically the creation and blending of resources to make items. What I have seen so far is a fun system with lots of potential, I'm confident there is a lot more to come here as I progress. So to surmise the key points so far:+ Great looking graphics, character models and landscapes+ A slow burning story that takes its time with seemingly low stakes at the start+ A fun battle system and crafting system support the game.+ Good overall production values and favourable fan service- Japanese only voice-over (no subtitles in combat)- Well worn tropes and cliches- Favourable fan serviceHaving not played an Atelier game beforehand, I don't think any knowledge of the previous series is required to enjoy this game.Initial impressions only, will be further updated hopefully. Now how about a Golden Sun remake eh Nintendo?

Very happy with my purchase. I already own the game digitally and find it a great Atelier game. I was upset that after I initially wanted to get the physical copy I found out that they are basically sold out in the US and being sold for over 100$. Very happy when I found this UK vendor that was selling it for a legit price. Originally the order said would arrive around 8/20, it actually arrived yesterday which is awesome I was nervous about how long it would take with everything going on but it arrived and in perfect condition. It is the European version but thats the great thing about the switch is that it is not region locked. Amazing game, great service, anyone interested in the physical copy should act now before this is gone

This game is amazing. Its standalone so anyone can jump in and play it regardless if you've played an atelier game before or not.The battle system is fun and exciting- you have 3 in your party at one time out of a choice of 6. The crafting is more fun and easier to understand. The locations are amazing and the world is quite large. Theres plenty to keep you busy outside of the storyline too. Theres post game content you can do too or you can start a new game plus and carry stuff over. The characters are very likeable. The soundtrack is great. Overall i found the game relaxing but also fun and exciting. It had the perfect balance. You could get at least 50-70 hours out of one play-through.

i got my package 10 days before it was expected to arrive. i am always skeptical of 3rd party vendors but this one was awesome. i was looking on other websites and the price for this game was to much. as a physical collector i am happy i didnt have to shell out more than what it was worth.the game is lots of fun. its not my first atelier game so i knew what i was getting into but i was kind of blown away with the graphics(especially in handheld mode on the switch). it seems to be locked at 30fps which is all i can ask for in performance. and while some of the structures are low poly, the textures make up for it. the lighting was really immersive as well.

Much better than the previous Atelier games. Every aspect has been improved. The alchemy now had an auto-mode for people who don't really like it. The fighting system is now semi automatic and does away with mana points, replacing them with action points for faster and more involved combat. The graphics are finally worthy of a modern game.Recommended to long time fans and first timers!

I had previously watched a gameplay before I made this purchase, and honestly, watching someone else play does not do the game itself any justice. The story of Ryza and her friends is both comical and endearing and it has kept me interested at every turn. The graphics are beautiful and I truly wish more games were made like this. I recommend this to anyone who is into rpg games :’)

The team behind the scenes who ships this product is nothing less than stellar. They were dilegent with helping me keep track of my order and ensuring it would arrive. Given the pandemic things take time and I have learned to be patient. Also, the game is absolutely amazing but! the team who got it in my hands are 1 of a kind.

I played this game for 100 hours plus of fun, the battle system is better, the synthesis and gathering, the story is really good and quite touching in places, i fully recommend the game to any Atelier fans you'll love it.

This game was such a surprise. Looks great on switch putting games with much larger budgets to shame. If you like crafting, collecting and old school mid 2000s atb battle systems then this game is for you.

Game arrived in new condition but with crack on case/small tear on artwork. Not what I expected when buying a new game.Otherwise, game seems perfect. Very happy to have this title in my collection.
