I've played most of the large hub world Lego superhero games, including the first Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Lego Marvel's Avengers, Lego Batman 2 and 3, and in general I have found the hub worlds quite grindy with some very tricky and convoluted gold brick puzzles and a really useless map. I was starting to give up hope of actually enjoying one properly for this reason, because however good the story mode was, I was always dreading the hub clean up. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 seems to have addressed a lot of these problems. The side quests, pink (red) brick missions and character cards etc are marked on the map and get automatically ticked off when you have completed them.It is very easy to reply levels in freeplay, and once you have accessed the main computer terminal in each area you can fast travel between regions and back to the mansion where you can buy your pink bricks and create characters etc. There are 20 levels and an additional 10 short levels to get the pink bricks, so in terms of content, there is plenty and it will keep you pretty busy. There are a vast array of characters and whilst you may not know a lot of them, if you are facing a puzzle that needs a particular skill, a character with that skill will be highlighted when you press triangle (in freeplay) cutting out a lot of frustration in trying to keep tabs on who to put in your team and what they actually do.Some of the quirks that annoy me are still there - if you have a character that transforms (eg Bruce Banner/Hulk), it is triangle that does the transformation, so if you are simply trying to change character in free play you have to wait for them to mostly transform before pressing triangle again. And don't get me started on trying to climb up a building with Spiderman... we just don't get on. Sometimes the camera angle changes wildly and unhelpfully and confuses the direction of travel, but that seems to be part of Lego games in general. The graphics are bright and colourful (unlike the Lego Batman games) and there is a wide range of scenery/mini worlds in this game. If you are after the platinum you may wish to attain this before downloading and installing the DLC (an additional 6 levels and multiple character packs) because otherwise the 100% completion status (gold bricks, true believer, stan lee in peril etc) will include the DLC levels too. Expect to put in at least 60 hours.

As a fan of all the Lego games, it is great to see release by release the many gripes are slowly being ironed out, and Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 is no exception. This release goes a long way to resolving many of the co-op related nuances, such as the ability to run seperate (side) missions concurrently, and for each individual's missions to not overtake the entire screen area when talking to NPCs. Mostly - there are exceptions. The main story is good, has the usual level of humour, and a character count upwards of 250 (though many, as with all Lego games, are just slight variations of a character or a character power). The bad? Side missions are extremely repetitive, with only a handful of really unique quests to carry out. There are also bugs galore, which range from amusing to maddening (try some story missions where the required trigger doesn't trigger, or a jump hold not letting you grab hold). Some of the race side missions are also a lesson in patience and anger management. If it isnt the dimwitted Chronopolis inhabitants blocking your path raising the blood pressure a little, it is the frankly awful (at times) camera angles, the latter meaning you have no idea where the next checkpoint is. At least the game offers a retry option when you fail. And you will undoubtedly fail at some point, because even if everything is in your favour, you seem to need specific vehicles or characters for a few races. The difficulty of the game is about average for a Lego offering. The main story is sime, free play is the usual mix of sneaky minikit placement and puzzle solving. The side missions range from unbelievably easy to extremely complex. The very hardest quests are without a doubt THE hardest (and well constructed) side missions in any Lego game to date. Worth taking into consideration if you are a 100% completionist.Great value at sub £20.

Our (then) eight year old son got the first game for Christmas. His birthday was in April, and as he loved the first game so much, we thought we'd get him the second, despite a few mixed reviews on here. Summary: we're incredibly glad that we did.He was delighted when he saw what it was (he didn't know that there was a second game, always a bonus!), and now that he is several hours into the game the reality has entirely matched with his expectation. He loves the gameplay, loves the range of levels, and particularly loves the incredible range of new characters he can play as. I think that Rocket Raccoon is the current favourite, but there are many great additions.I have asked him and he loves it every bit as much as the first one.I have played both with him and I'd say that the gameplay is equally good across the two, and the second game still throws in plenty of humour to make me chuckle while I'm button bashing. We own a few Lego games (we have four kids) and this one sits very happily among them. The kids switch between Star Wars, Harry Potter and this with equal enthusiasm. Highly recommended for any fan of the Lego games.

Firstly, it is obviously a LEGO game. So if you have played previous entries in this series, I'm sure it'll offer nothing new in regards to game mechanics and any entertainment will just come from cut-scenes etc. That is not to knock this very popular series of games, or the current massive cash-cow that is MARVEL - but it'd be nice if they started trying to do a bit more.Sure, my nephew has only currently played this to level 3-4 and he really enjoys the games. I think the characters & general interest in the universes helps keep him entertained though rather than repetitive game design.I don't this to sound like a negative review of this or any other game. I merely given my perspective on them.Afterall, as I say - my nephew enjoys them loads, and, at the end of the day. That's the most important thing. For fans of characters, LEGO games series or all those looking for something new.Read full review...

If your a Lego game fan you won’t be disappointed. I have played almost all Lego games. They are all very similar I’m the format with the plot. However in this game it’s slightly different, previous once completing a level you then unlock the area for that level. It does this but to obtain the pink bricks (not red this time) you need to complete further tasks to gain entry to the pink brick areas. I found this a good idea. Parental controls can be granted if required. The shoot me ups as always against other Lego characters but no gore/blood etc. The graphics are bright and clear. I have also found this game isn’t as buggy as previous games crashing etc so far it’s been a smooth run.

I love the Lego games, and I mean I LOVE them, so was slightly disappointed with this one as they try to cram in a load of new ideas and functions, most of which are OK, but some are just clunky - add in that the initial story isn't as easy to continue as the previous Lego Marvel Superheroes, or even Lego Marvel AvengersAdd in that it seems like they've tried to cram in every possible character that they can, far more than any of their other games, which seems more like a "because we can" than having a need for it - finding the character you want gets annoying as you have to slog through the lines and lines of possible characters

Got this as a gift for my girlfriend and she loves it.I often play it with her (it's our gaming thing) and the only issue I have is the few glitches in the game that can stop level progress (Required items not appearing, doors not opening etc...) but, with the amount going on in each level, this doesn't surprise me and reminds me of the glitch in the first Lego Harry Potter that happened when you kill one of the teachers (yes, I was a nightmare in that game) and it stops you getting the 100%Overall, I think I liked the first one more but, this is far better than the Lego Avengers game!

I've played all of the Lego games over the years and the first Marvel outing was fantastic, borrowing from both the Comic Universe and the Cinematic and with the first really open plan map compared to previous titles. This sequel and its promise of interlocking/overlapping time periods and universes had me hoping for something on a larger scale improving on the small niggles with the first game however the improvements have not materialised. Camera bugs and glitches remain. 6/10

Having already got several Lego games, including the first Marvel superheroes, bought this for my boys. The controls and gameplay are much the same as all the other games which is good, there's new characters and some familiar faces too. If I'm being picky, the story line is a bit hard to pick up for younger kids and there isn't quite the same level of freedom of just wandering around New York as the first game, but overall another good showing from Lego and Marvel

Definitely one of the best Lego games I've played since Batman 2, love the free roam and despite all the great missions, side quests and DLC from the movies my favourite take away from it all was that starlords special ability is to play Redbone while shooting & dancing...now that's worth every penny right? It's definitely great for children and not too difficult, but I'm 23 and can definitely vouch this is just as entertaining for any fan of Marvel.

The recipient of this gift was quite specific, so I followed his instructions. From the appreciative whoops and concentration I've witnessed when I've seen it played I deduce that it is an entertaining game. As purchaser, I appreciated the fact that Argos offered it at a keen price and that I could collect it at a time that suited me from a location where parking is free and plentiful. Everyone happy,.

This is a fantastic game without a doubt. So much content and the look of the game is quite literally stunning, so much colour and graphical visuals that puts a great big smile on your face. No matter what age you are you can not but like the lego games their such a chillout alternative to the big AAA titles, so with that said give it a go and you might enjoy the lego games as much as I do. Great fun.

I don't follow the Marvel series of films, but I do like Lego games. This is easy to pick up and play even if you don't know the Marvel stories. As with all the Lego games it's a mixture of puzzles, quests and challenges along with the regular story. It's not too tasking, just right for this type of game. Look out for some great references or other films.

It's a decent little game with loads of gaming hours. Can be a little tricky considering there are so many characters but it certainly worth a play. However, if you haven't played or purchased Lego City Undercover I would strongly recommend it. Though it is a re-release of a Wii U game it is still an outstanding Lego game and in my opinion the best.

Review from 10 year old son "This game is fun! My favourite parts were the 'boss battles' at the end of some levels. Customising characters personalises - the game and sparks your imagination no end. Unlocking new characters is always good and the game, throughout, is very enjoyable. Highly recommended. (BTW, level 15; Torg-Nado - it is doable! ;)
