I've seen it said that ASUS are good on hardware and bad on software. My experience with this piece of kit certainly seems to support that. Once I got it working it was pretty damn good. I got it just because I wanted the ability to go wireless if I needed it, I used it for a little bit to test speed, but I mainly stick to wired. For wireless it's got a decent speed anyway. The software, as I mentioned was a bit fiddly. I'm not sure why, but I spent a couple of days trying to get it to run with driver updates etc., then one day it started working. I assume it took a restart, maybe I installed drivers the previous day before shutting down.To the layman the software for choosing connections and preferences is probably going to be just the same as the default windows select connection window that you get in the system tray. To those more adept with networking you might be pleased to hear that it goes in to a bit more depth in a Config window though. Worth the money if you can get it working anyway.

Couldn't be easier to install, great range, great speeds (limited only by your service provider)Two antennae sat together may seem a bit daft, but each it tuned slightly differently to cover more reception bandwidth, so between them they fill a wide arc which should never let you down. One point to note: Those of you who take your PC from room to room or Grandma's for the weekend etc.... The antennae screw on to the card and remain fully rotatable even when screwed tight - when positioning the antennae stalk, get into the habit of rotating the stalk clockwise - if you rotate it anti-clockwise you can, over time, loosen the connection between the antennae and the PCI card - this is hard to notice as well but could lead to intermittent changes in speed due to connection strength. Check for tight connections at the card every so often - it depends how much you move your PC really - if it never goes anywhere then ignore this, but if you move it around a lot this can happen and go totally unnoticed.

So, I plug this into my Windows 10 PC, the drivers are automatically loaded, it immediately connects to my router, and I get the full speed from my broadband connection. Happy days, right?Well, the connection kept getting messed up and I would often need to restart my PC to get back on the Internet. I eventually realised that this only happened after I had left the PC alone for a bit and then came back to it, which made me think it was something to do with all the power-saving stuff introduced since Windows 8.Right-click on the Windows logo on the bottom left of your desktop, click Device Manager, click the little '>' next to Network Adaptors, right-click on the device, click Properties, click the Power Management tab and then uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Problem solved.Maybe this is something that only happens with my hardware setup, but I hope that helps anyone else who's having issues with this otherwise great little WiFi card.

Ever since installing this PCI-E card it has been working flawlessly for me. The only minor issue I've encountered since purchase (Dec 2013) was that the latest drivers from ASUS are pretty unreliable in terms of connection up time. But there is a simple fix to this. The on board adapter with this card is that of a Realtek RTL8192CE, You can download the RTL8192CE-VA4 Windows driver auto installation program and your on board device should be fully up to speed and reliable at the same time. They can be found here:[...]I achieve a faster link speed to the router than a power line adapter I used for a few months, apparently my router (Sky's free router) can only output 100mbits over a wired connection, but whilst it has wireless N technology, it can output more over this medium. So, in short. This is a great card for the price I paid for it, and would wholly recommend it without the current default drivers!

I have recently put together a high end gaming rig, of which this is one of the main components!Literally could not be happier with this! No faults to be found what so ever!Installation is a breeze for those who know what they're doing, and for those who don't Im sure that there is an instruction manual in the box. It also cones with a low profile bracket (I didn't find it very useful though)The software is excellent, it has never cut out or developed any faults, and gives me a download speed of about 2.7MB/s (which is actually really fast where I live!A friend of mine uses ethernet, and I get the same download speed as he does! He also has quite a problem with cabling as his router is downstairs, but with this I have defeated that problem!Great quality, just like all the other Asus components I have previously purchased, and I would definitely buy it again if I ever build another rig!

Tried many different types of PCI-E WIRELESS CARDS on the market for all my Home networked PC'S TOGETHER with out visitors and the Kid's triping over the RJ45 cables. Over a Period of 2 Years. The faster seemed to be made by TP-LINK. Speeds quoted on the box was 450mbps. However never reached anymore the 106mbps so let down. TENDA was definitely great value, until I viewed these Asus PCI-E WIFI 300mbps (N) cards, 4 weeks ago I snapped them up all the complete with nice software FREE to my surprise. And if you're a Geek your in for 2 great things that Amazon are giving away considering the low prices ..1st the wifi card that Computer Shopper have already gave a solid review and all the Free useful software made by Asus.I get connected consistently the best speeds by any wifi card to date. And 99% coverage at home via one wall.

I bought this to replace a much cheaper and older wireless card that had started giving me endless trouble. This one worked straight out of the box. I am running Windows XP and when installing the drivers the installation program on the CD asks if you want to use ASUS's own software to control the card or whether simply to use Windows' own software. I chose the latter for simplicity's sake and it has worked perfectly. I was pleased that the software gave me this option, as in the past I've had issues with bundled software interfering with 'Windows-own' versions.I'm using a BT wireless router which is on the ground floor, the PC is on first floor and I get 130 Mbps connection, rock solid.Pricier than many others but basically been perfect for me and I couldn't be happier with it.

I didn't really know what to expect with this wireless adaptor. My PC is in the computer room upstairs, telephone socket is downstairs. Previously I had an extension cable running up to the computer room where router was wired directly to the PC. Broadband speed wasn't great, suspected the extension cable was at fault. Bought this wireless adaptor, moved router downstairs to be plugged directly into the telephone socket. Result - download speeds doubled.Item is very easy to fit if you have a PCIe slot and the reception is 4 bars ( out of 5 ) despite the PC being under the desk. Connection is stable, no drop-outs so far after a week of use.Added bonus is that wireless devices downstairs now get a much better reception with the router being there.

After a lot of confusion of connection issues to the hotspot from Xfinity (my local service provider) I found out that the issues were on xfinity (comcast) side and since I was not a paying customer, they would not troubleshoot the problem with me.But this whole time, it has connected to my phone hotspot as well as other stationary hotspots from other service providers. So I will just have to eventually get my preferred service provider one day but it sire won't be Xfinity/Comcast. (You can change the company name but it doesn't change the company)

This is a review based on years of using this Wireless N adapter. It works perfectly and I use it in secondary low end systems I own. Back when this was sold, having Wifi was still a relatively cutting edge service. 300mbps these days is lackluster. If your the type that wants to stream while browsing the internet, this card will bottleneck your system. If however you find it for really cheap, like a fiver at a discount tech store or here on amazon, it wouldn't be terrible in a box your building for your grandparents.

I had used the cheaper TP-Link Wireless-N300 adaptor in an old computer, when it came time to replace the computer I transplanted it across but it just didn't seem to play nice with Windows 7 64-bit.Bought this to replace it, and it worked perfectly first time. I just installed the drivers, I did not chose the option to install the Wireless utility and Windows manages the connection perfectly.Good speed and good signal. Well worth buying this instead of cheaper, less reliable products.

As far as wireless adapters, this beats most USB versions in both performance and range.Of course, installation is a harder than normal, as it requires connecting to a PCI bus, but the lower latency / extra power definitely makes it worth it if you require a good signal. It did have some minor issues with connecting to a network at one point, which is the main reason it loses a star. It took resetting the connection a few times to solve it, but it did create some question marks.

Installation procedure:1) Switch off PC, remove case side panel and the correct blanking plate from the back of the PC.2) Insert card into PCI-E slot, screw mount into back panel of PC, replace case side panel and screw on the two aerials.3) Switch on PC and run set up stuff from supplied CD, select WPS setup, and press WPS button on router when told to do so.And that's it.It works perfectly with a good strong signal and, at just over £16 including delivery, is a steal.

Good wireless adapter for a PC. The device was easy to install - simply open up the PC and slot into the PCI connector at the back (there is only one that it will fit in) on the motherboard. Turn on the PC and it works. My achieved speed is less than stated, but that is probably a router issue rather than the adapter and/or the fact that our house is old with thick internal brick walls. The internet speed using wireless connection is still quicker than my much newer laptop!

Exactly what I needed. Installation was straight forward and easy. Its low profile fit great in my ASUS machine (at first I thought it wasn't going to fit because my graphics card takes up two slots). Anyway, those complaining about it not picking up the router signal are totes cray cray. In any wireless setup there are a number of factors to consider that might attribute to a weak signal or no signal at all (Amateur and professional IT background of 8+ years).
