I aim to leave here a very positive review about the card itself and a buyer warning if you will. The card is a 3rd Generation Intel AC-8260 Card which gives up to 867Mbps connection speed and comes in the form of a very compact low form factor M.2 Half mini card as opposed to the Intel AC-7260 which is a Half Mini PCI Express card.On the surface the 2 cards perform the same however the 8260 has a low powered Bluetooth 4.2 Module built in and as I already own an AC-7260 card in another laptop I have been able to perform some basic tests and can say that this 8260 card performs well and in my opinion is more reliable and seems to handle multiple streaming better even though the card is notMU-MIMO.The card uses the same PROSet/Wireless drivers as it's predecessors however this card uses specific Bluetooth drivers obtained on the intel website. The driver to look for is the one that says (SfP) as this card has Bluetooth 4.2. Non SfP drivers will work though I can't guarantee that all the features will be available.Lastly this card is not compatible with Mini PCI Express slots or the antennas so double check you have the right slot for the card. This card is suitable for most modern laptops in the last year and would be found in the low form factor laptops and ultra books.I bought this for my Acer Aspire R3-131T and it has some slight compatibility issues:While the Acer doesn't use any form of BIOS locking to prevent you from using this card there does however seem to be some BIOS incompatibilities. When you install the card and boot in to windows the Bluetooth Module of the card is detected however the Wireless module is not (I must add here that this card is not like the Mini PCI Express cards where you can simply cover PIN 20 to get this to work)To get the card working fully, you need to restart the system, press F2 to enter the BIOS and then F9 to load default setup and then F10 to save and exit (The card will then work flawlessly however, when you power off the system and power on again you need to re-enter the BIOS and follow the steps above to get it working once more)I have emailed Acer regarding this and should anything positive come out of it then I will update my review. Likewise there could be other manufacturers out there suffering the same issues.I have given this 5* because I am reviewing the card itself, the issues with compatibility are by no means the fault of Intel.

I got the Intel 8260 Wi-Fi Adapter to replace the Intel 3165 Wi-Fi Adapter that was present in my laptop. My review will mainly be discussing the differences between the two Wi-Fi adapters, as most people who would be interested in an adapter such as are more than likely upgrading an older adapter.Download Speeds: The 8260 is miles better than the 3165. When downloading games from Steam, I noticed up to 3 times faster downloads with the 9260. Additionally, I'm able to comfortably watch YouTube videos at up to 1440p, where I was previously only able to watch up to 720p videos with the 3165, with there being many cases where it would drop to 480p. The 8260 wasn't quite enough for me to watch YouTube videos at 4k,however that is more than likely due to my internet speeds, as only my wired devices can handle 4k video streaming.Upload Speeds: The 8260 and the 3165 have very similar upload speeds. This is fine as the 3165 actually had decent upload speeds. If your only issue with the 3165 is the upload speeds, than the 8260 isn't going to give you much better results.Range: The 8260 and the 3165 have similar ranges, however the 8260 was much more usable due to the faster download speeds. There are going to be areas where the 3165 is basically unusable due to the slow speeds, however the 8260 should be able to retain better speeds at the same distances.Verdict: I ultimately picked up this card over the 8265 mostly due to the fact that the 8265 was backordered and I didn't have the time to wait due to moving to a new apartment. While the 8265 is probably worth the extra $3-$5 or so, I was thoroughly impressed by the performance of the 8260 in comparison to the 3165. (I believe that the 8265 gives slightly better range than the 8260, but speeds should be pretty similar overall.) I can easily recommend this Wi-Fi adapter.

I bought this to replace the TERRIBLE Atheros WiFi Go! module that Asus bundles with their Z170 and Z270 ITX motherboards (maybe others, too). With the Atheros module, it would not connect to my 5GHz network, claiming some unspecified error after I correctly entered the WiFi password. Sometimes the Atheros module wouldn't even see the 5 GHZ network -- not mine, nor my neighbors...So I ordered this Intel module from Amazon and installed it. It required removing the "WiFi Go!" shield (2 screws) and replacing the Atheros M.2 WiFi card with this one -- it was an even swap, the two modules are exactly the same size, and use exactly the same size antenna connectors. The whole operation required me to disconnect everything from my motherboard and remove the motherboard to access the back so I could unscrew the two little screws holding on the "WiFi Go!" module. After this minor surgery, I am pleased as punch to say that now it sees and properly connects to my 5 GHz WiFi network. Speeds are what I expect. So far no drop-outs or disconnects.KUDOS to Intel for making a good WiFi module that just plain works.BOOOOO HISSSSSS to Asus for including such a terrible WiFi solution in your high-end motherboards! Atheros WiFi should be kicked to the curb.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (7568) that came with Intel AC 3165. Laptop working well, however, had issues with WiFi disconnecting and slow at times. Updated drivers from Intel's website that removed older drivers from Dell.com. The AC 3165 was NOT originally designed to run on Win 10, but the updated Intel drivers seemed to improve WiFi stability .Researched and found this was an issue with this model that came with AC 3165. During my research, I came upon Intel's newer AC 8260 specifically designed for Win 10 and overall performance increases 2x2 verses 1x1.AC 8260 install was easy as both use the same drivers, so simply changed out WiFi cards and everything booted right up.Ran "Intel Driver Update Utility" and it updated the Bluetooth driver, WiFi driver was the same.Performance difference was 100% increase, so for $25 dollars inexpensive upgrade as follows:2GHz (802.11n):AC 3165 = 72 MbpsAC 8260 = 144.4 Mbps5Ghz (802.11ac):AC 3165 = 433 MbpsAC 8260 = 866.7 MbpsAs you can see, the performance increase was 100%+!Intel Driver Update Utility [...]

Works great on Fedora 26. Replaced the factory Broadcom chipset on my XPS 13 and worked out of box with Linux. Beware of factory tightened wifi screws though; mine stripped out quite quickly making it quite a chore to remove the old card (also had to dig pieces of a shattered broadcom antenna connector out from my XPS antenna connectors). Once I had killed the broadcom, the Intel card slid right in and I was able to connect it right up. I haven't tested the Bluetooth other than turning it on and off again. The 5 GHz wifi works great, doesn't randomly die, and seems to get decent range. Also, heads up when the package arrives, if it arrives with something else, don't mistake the Intel card as just being part of the plastic shipping bubbles. I almost threw the plastic with the card away, because I didn't see the little card inside.

Upgraded from a Dell/Broadcom card in a Dell XPS15/9550. Am now able to see/connect to and stay connected to networks more reliably. If you're making the jump from a Broadcom, make sure you uninstall all the drivers and any software (typically Bluetooth related) that says Widcom or Broadcom, replace the card, then install the Intel drivers. Windows 10 was able to automatically detect the hardware and install functional drivers, Intel has a Driver Update Utility app that will make sure everything is fully up to date (Windows did not auto install the latest Intel drivers). Very worthwhile, inexpensive upgrade. Note that if you are upgrading from a 3x3 wireless card as I did, you'll need to abandon the third, grey antenna. You'll need to wrap the unused connector with some shrink wrap or electrical tape.

I purchased this to upgrade my Intel 3165 wifi card that came in my Dell 7579-0028 laptop. Wifi is much faster than the stock one, easy to replace, and has much better signal range over the old one. Drivers are up to date on the website, so it runs well with minimal effort. Bluetooth works fine, but drivers and updates to it are terrible. Intel seems to always drop the ball with bluetooth, as seen in every previous generation of their cards. Would highly recommend to anyone with a Dell laptop as a replacement over the cheap wifi cards they put in them at the factory, because there is no whitelist block on these cards.A huge $30 upgrade that will pay dividends for the future of your computer.

Purchased this card to install in my Dell XPS15 9550 model. The laptop came with a Broadcom 1830 3x3 card but I found the wireless range to be poor and the Bluetooth had all sorts of issues so after reading many online reviews I chose this one.It only has 2 antennae connections on the card so I had to leave 1 tucked away safely in the laptop. After removing the Broadcom software and installing the Intel drivers it now has a much better wireless range (connects at 867Mbps) and the Bluetooth relaibility is so much better. No more laggy mouse or dropped connections!I would highly recommend this little wireless card for those with the Dell XPS 15 9550.

So far it's been great. Replaced a Realtek card on my Gigabyte P15 v5 laptop that suffered from Bluetooth lag. The Bluetooth on this is great. Any audio lag when watching videos through my speakers is now imperceptible. Singal strength seems good and consistent. Connects easily to my 5Ghz network.Side Note: Not sure if this is on the seller or Amazon, but it came shipped in nothing but a sealed foil wrapper. It was left floating in the box with a few other items that weren't secure enough to not bounce around some in the box. This thing easily could have been digned up b/c of that. Thankfully, it wasn't damaged, but I cringed when I opened the box.

I like that this Intel AC 8260 is supported by FreeBSD 12.1 with the iwm(4) driver. The only other thing you need is the iwm8000Cfw firmware and it works perfectly. I used this card to replace the QCA9377 Qualcomm Atheros, which was a great card in, but it isn't currently supported by FreeBSD. It was an easy install as the Ideapad has a removable panel over the wireless card for easy access. The panel is held on by one screw and the wireless card is also held by one screw. The antenna wires pop off and snap right on to the new card. If you need a newer wireless card that also has support in the BSD world, this is it.

After swapping out the existing wireless card in my Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK with this Intel 8260 card, my wireless now just works, and it seems I am getting better reception and somewhat faster overall bandwidth. All in all a solid purchase for this laptop.I am running Linux Mint 18 on the Lenovo laptop, and it seems the Linux wireless drivers for this Intel 8260 card are in much better shape than the Linux drivers for the Lenovo supplied wireless card that shipped with the original laptop.I have not (nor ever will) run Windows on this laptop, so I cannot comment on whether this card works well in Windows.

I replaced the DW1830 card in my XPS 15 (9550) by following Dave K's instructions and this card works really well, I tested at over 110 Mbps download from the speakeasy speed test site in NYC. Despite a previous comment, the latest Intel WiFi 19.20.0 and BT_19.11.1639 (both 64 bit) drivers worked with zero issues. My OS is Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.[Edit] I seem to be getting 1 or 2 hours extra battery life (went up from 5 to 7 hours on a 4k touch XPS 15) but I can't be certain that it's the card because I've also updated a few other drivers too. Either way I'm happy to have thos card in my new laptop.

I cannot say much more than that. My WiFi connection was pretty much the same before and after replacing my older adapter with this one. The lack of ease of installation should probably lay on my PC manufacturer's conscience. The antenna wires were a bear to install and the little screws that were suppose to tighten down the adapter were impossible to tighten completely. In the end I had to buy a new computer but that is not the fault of this item, nor of the WiFi connection overall. It was simply at the end of its lifespan.

I am currently reviewing this Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter for my dell xps 13 and so far it has worked very well than the stock adapter that comes in this computer. It is fairly easy to place this new chip inside, all you really need is a T5 screw driver and a small plastic stick in order to disconnect the battery and then place it back in.Only real issue I had is this adapter disabled my Bluetooth for awhile, had to uninstall the main Bluetooth pack and then reinstall and then worked perfectly

Bought this for an HP laptop that came with a Realtek card that kept acting up. Rather than getting another junk card under warranty I bought this one (it was a factory option on this model laptop so I figured it would work.) Popped the card in and all my wireless issues are gone. This is an excellent card for a great price. I just recommend making sure it'll work in your laptop before ordering. Some manufacturers restrict usable cards to only ones available from the factory.
