I had previously been using a set of homeplugs to connect my main computer to out Virgin router, but the performance has degraded over the last month or so. I already had an older Edimax PCIe card in the machine, but it was only capable of picking up the 2.4 band. Performance wasn't that good, as my main computer was situated in a rear room and has a fridge freezer next to it, which wasn't helping the signal pickup.I've picked up a load of other TPLink netwoeking bits (Access points, switches etc) for home setup for family, so looked into this range. Definitely wanted something that operated on the 5Ghz band, so my choices were limited. Bought on prime and arrived as expected yesterday.Uninstalled the drivers for the other wifi card, then shut down. Removed the old, installed the new.Booted up and then inserted the provided CD. Autoran the installation application and picked driver and utility. Installation was over quickly however, at least on my Windows 10 build, there didn't appear to be anything installed utility wise. I wasn't going to use it, but just wanted to see what it was like, probably before uninstalling it. Connected to my 5Ghz wifi (Im using a Virgin Superhub 2 with 200mb fibre) and ran a test. Initially, I wasn't that impressed, getting about 35mb downstream. I thought maybe the signal attentuation due to the location was too much. I went back and tweaked the aerials a bit more, made a slight increase. It was much better than before, however super fast. I then went into my Virgin router and tweaked my 5Ghz settings more for performance as opposed to compatibility and then was really surprised by the results. Using both fast.com and speedtest.net I was registering about 100mbps down/15mbps up. This is fantastic, and much more in the region to what I was wanting. Its obviously not the same as when connected via Ethernet, and file transfer between my media server and computer is slower overall, but in terms of internet access only, its done a really good job in what is a pretty cramped, and signal affected area.Windows 10 is showing the wireless network strength at one bar only, so to get that performance out of that signal is admirable. I'm probably going to look to some aerial extension cables, so that I can route the aerials higher in the room. If I got full signal I've no doubt that I could utilise my connection further. Not sure if you need anything specific to do this, but I will have a look around, if anyone has experience of this can you let me know.In short, its not cheap, but in my view well worth it. Also comes with a 3 year warranty if you register with TPLink.

After several frustrating failures with USB wifi adaptors, I finally decided to get an internal card. Having recently been upgraded to fast broadband and a dual-band wifi router, I wanted something that would give me the most out of my new connection. This card has proved to be an excellent choice.Installation is simple. Open your PC up, find a PCI-e slot and plug it in. Once your case is back together, you need to attach the three wifi aerials. These screw on to the back of the card easily enough and can be rotated and angled to provide the best fit possible. If there's a down-side to this card, it's the aerials. They do a great job of ensuring good reception and signal strength but they are big,and because they are attached to the back of the PC, it means they can be a bit of a nuisance if your PC needs to fit into a tight space like a cabinet.Sadly, the card isn't recognised automatically by Windows7 so it needed the installation CD to ensure the right drivers are installed. This was easy enough, insert the disk and follow the setup wizard. The drivers and some easy-config software for wifi setup were installed with minimal fuss. Truth be told you do'nt really need the easy-setup utility, Windows7 is simple enough, but the TP-Link software does the job and wraps it all up in a single, neat process so no complaints. In use, the signal has been rock-solid and I can't detect any difference on an internet speed test from a machine that's wired into the router, so it's giving me at least 120Mbps and likely higher. File transfers within my home network work well too - large files to/from the NAS are quicker than they were on older wifi connections. Perhaps not to 300Mbps all the time, but pretty darned close. All things considered, if you're just looking for this card to connect a desktop to your home broadband, it's probably overkill as there aren't any broadband connections that run this fast at the moment. If you do a lot of media streaming or large file transfers internally then it might be worth it. So there's no complaints about the card at all - for the price, it delivers plenty of performance, just think about whether you really need a card this fast.

Some stability problems occurred with the default Windows 8.1 Drivers that Microsoft decided to use. This resulted in the computer freezing or resetting. Downloaded the latest drivers from TP-Link website and had zero problems since. However because of the initial problems I have deducted a star as really this shouldn't be happening. One of the main reasons for buying the dual band 450mb version is the 5ghz band that this uses. Previously my son was using a 2.4ghz USB wifi Dongle. My other son is still using his. But because we had so many 2.4Ghz devices on our wifi Network my son streaming HD Youtube videos was causing a problem for everyone else. Including streaming of Netflix over the Chromecast in the Kitchen.(Chromecast can only use the 2.4Ghz channel).I did a speedtest on my sons computer, and it was getting the same speed as my wired ethernet computer. 104Mbits down, and 8Mbits up. With a ping of 9ms. The ping was exceptional in my opinion. Very very good. And this was on the default Virgin Media Super Hub 2.When I do a file copy on his computer from our local server, it was pulling down around 25-30 MB/s constant, (megaBYTES), which is a lot faster than his previous USB dongle that maxxed out about 8 MB/s and usually around 4-5MB/s on average. A massive improvement.I have asked my son how his Youtube viewing has been since install 3 days ago. And he said it has been great, and that he is able to rewind his youtube videos now without it buffering, and that he is able to watch all his videos in HD.I have also noticed it's improved the remainder of the wifi Network, especially the chromecasts and other 2.4Ghz devices.I will be buying one of my other son as well, to free up the 2.4Ghz network for those devices, and leave the main computers on the 5Ghz network.Hopefully none of my neighbours will be moving to the 5Ghz channels any time soon, as they seem relatively empty at the moment (having down a wifi analyse of the local environment).I was going to wire the house up with Ethernet, but this device will do for now. As my son is able to download at the maximum speed our Internet runs at, and that's all you can ask for really.

This review is specific to the T6E Archer AC1300 model...Comes well packaged and looks really good in black especially if you have a side window on your case, Speeds are phenomenal and this would be perfect if you want to do HD Gaming, Streaming or Video conferencing assuming you have the Router and Broadband connection to match. I bought this for a new computer build and it is true to say like many have mentioned that Windows 10 DOES NOT recognise this out of the box. The first time you turn the machine on (or if you're upgrading an older machine) you will need to download the latest driver from the TP-Link Website. As soon as you download and install the driver windows recognises the wi-fi card and available networks should start to show up,you may require a system restart. If you can't plug your PC into the router directly via Ethernet (so you can download the driver) then i advise you download the driver to a USB stick prior to installing this card in your machine. The driver can be found at the TP-Link site, simply type into any web browser your model number and it should take you there. The Driver you require is called "Archer T6E_V1_151105". Sadly when i first tried to post this review i was sent an email stating i was not allowed to post a direct link to the driver.VERDICT: It looks great and performs even better, it makes no noise as it doesn't have any moving parts, nor is there any coil whine from the circuitry. If you are installing this into a Windows 10 machine AFTER MAY 2018 then you will need to install the driver i mention above and the device should work fine. I suspect many people buying this product didn't know about the driver requirement and have therefore returned them. TP-Link should make this clearer in their sales literature to avoid confusion and frustration but all it needs is the driver and it should work fine as it did in my case. I'm therefore going to RECOMMEND this product ... just be aware of the driver issue before you buy!

Review for TP-Link Archer T6E AC1300I’ve been using a USB wifi adapter for my internet connectivity ever since I went wireless many years ago. Recently it’s been temperamental, and finally refused to connect at all. So, internet being as necessary as it is, I did a quick search on Amazon (luckily laptop still working fine) to see what was available. I almost ordered another USB adapter, but Amazon was pulling up some PCI cards in its search results and I thought that might be better since I had some spare slots, and it would remove any speed restrictions due to my USB 2.0 ports.I settled for this – not the cheapest, and a long way from the most expensive, but with enough ok reviews to make me think I probably won’t be wasting my money. It arrived around an hour ago. Took five minutes to slot into place, about 7 minutes more to install the drivers and software from the included disc, and I was connected again. It really was a piece of cake. But the thing I most noticed was the increase in speed of my internet connection. I’d recently changed to fibre broadband and hadn’t really noticed any speed difference with internet browsing on my desktop PC. My old USB adapter I was recording 23Mbps on a speed test. With this new TP-link adapter the speed has shot up to 37 Mbps. It was worth it just for that.Anyway much too early to vote on reliability, but for ease of installation, signal strength, and effectiveness I’ll give it full marks. If I encounter any problems in the future, I’ll update this review. My PC is running Windows 7 and I'm using the driver that came on the installation disc with this adapter. Broadband is Fibre form Talktalk using the supplied Talktalk Router.

At first i was a bit skeptical as to whether this card would make any difference or not, with the main reason for buying being to increase wireless signal to our 'Virgin Media Hub'.I was running an Edimax USB wireless adapter before this and was only getting around 1 - 2 bars signal with frequent disconnecting, although the hub is only below and one room over from the back bedroom. (These Virgin hubs have had less than good reviews about signal problems)Installation of the TP link card was easy and painless, you don't exactly need to be knowledgeable with the inside of a computer system to install one of these as it's just a case of plugging it into a free PCI-E slot on your motherboard, all in all a 20 second job of removing the side panel and one of the blanking plates from the back of the computer case.Once booted back into windows and after inserting the provided disk, driver installation is an easy 3-4 click process and its installed within a few seconds. Good thing about this particular disk is that it's a 'driver only' installation and doesn't install a bloated "application" to connect to the internet like some other cards I've used in the past.A couple of seconds later the computer picked up our wireless router and I was away, connected to the internet with a solid 5 bar connection.Cant recommend this card enough for those with a weak wireless signal or looking to upgrade their wireless card, not that I currently need it but being 450Mbps also means its pretty future proof and shouldn't need changing for a good few years.(Running Windows 7 - 64 Bit)

Having read most of the reviews for this card, I decided to go with the majority and bought one. Received in the post (with no unnecessary packaging) after a couple of days, under the free postage option. Installing the card took no time at all - backplate out, card in. Booted up XP Home, it found the new device and then, when it said 'If this device came with a CD - insert now' I did. XP found the driver, installed it, and pronounced my new device ready for use. A look in 'Network Connections' confirmed this. I went into Device Manager and uninstalled the failed on-board ethernet port (which I had not been able to do before the new card was fitted). The 'Auto-Negotiation'part of the card is what threw some of the reviewers, I think. One bright reviewer flagged the ability to interrupt the boot-up and configure the card to your own preference, which should solve the 'it wouldn't do anything' problem.Anyway, my personal preference is not to be permanently on line. Pasting a shortcut to the 'Local Area Connection' in 'Network Connections' onto the 'Quick Start' bar, gave me the control I want. Left click the shortcut icon to connect to the network/internet, right click on the icon and choose 'disable' to disconnect - what could be simpler! Open the Local Area Network Connection properties and tick the 'show icon in the task bar when connected' and you can easily see your current status at a glance. The ethernet card performed, and still does, superbly - and my wife was happy again. After all, the PC is hers. Mine runs Win7, with the same connection control in place.

I've got loads of gigabit cards lying around, from branded makes that lasted a few months to my last one that became erratic after 3 months and kept losing connection - probably due to the June temperature rise. This one, cheap though it is, was the easiest to install. In Windows 7 64 bit, you just put in the mini PCI express slot, switch on the PC and Windows automatically downloads a microsoft realtek 64 bit driver from March 2011 - as oppose to old 2009 driver that is packaged with this item. Although the drivers do cover linux 2.4, 2.6, NDIS2, Novel netware client and server, W7 (32/64 bit) W2000, Vista 32-64 bit and XP.It has a boot rom that adds a Shift-F10 option to your PC startup (before the OS boots)to allow a choice of ptotocol (RPL, PXE) and the Boot Order (Int 19h, 18H, PNP or disable). It has a proper wake-on-lan and supports jumbo frames 4 MTU. You can edit all this on the normal Windows control panel - devices - network card - properties - driver dialog box. But everything, apart from jumbo frames is auto-negotiated anyway. So you don't need to touch anything or even understand any of that - as it works out of the box.I got speeds of around 30MB/s across my gigabit network (what's that, about 240mbps?), which is fine for shifing large files to the server. The Maximum Packet size for Jumbo frames on this card is 4K MTU (not the 9K MTU of slightly more expensive ones - so if you've got a lightening fast BUS and SATA III disk then you might need 9 MTU)Not had any problems with it - - and even if I did, I wouldn't care at this price.

I'm sharing the information below after a couple of months the issue I have encountered was fixed...no problem so far.I have been experiencing random disconnections with my TP- Link Gigabit Network Adapter, TP-Link TG-3468 Gigabit PCI Express Network Adapter - Ver:2.0The connection will instantly re-connect and it did not do this before with my on-board one that this replaced.I was not able to try inserting the adapter into another PCI slot of the computer, as I have only one available PCI Express Slot available.I reinstalled the driver of the adapter with the one downloaded directly from TP-Link web site, (the version downloaded was recent than the one i got with the CD that came with the adapter, but I kept experiencing random disconnectionsThe disconnections are more noticeable when transferring file between my PC and my NAS/Cloud server.I switched back to the on-board Ethernet adapter 10/100 and everything works fine.I have then contacted the TP-Link support ([email protected]) and they recommended to try with the driver released by Realtek from the following link:[...]GetDown=false#RTL8111B/RTL8168B/RTL8111/RTL8168RTL8111C/RTL8111CP/RTL8111D(L)RTL8168C/RTL8111DP/RTL8111ERTL8168E/RTL8111F/RTL8411RTL8111G/RTL8111GUSThis resolved the disconnection issues and i can really enjoy the full Gigabit performance of the adapter. I even pushed to transfer big movie files between my PC and the NAS device and did not notice any disconnections.I recommend this adapter as it worth for its price/quality.

I have previously tested 4 internet adapters and they have all been a pain in my back side. I'm not computer illiterate and no more matter what I did I couldn't get those USB adapters to work but this worked so well as soon as I installed it into a PCIE slot. You can literally grab this and put it in any PCIE slot if you have a spare one availableDriver Installation:This is the part you need to handle next once you've handled the hardware aspect. You can install the drivers by literally going on the TP Link website. The alternative method (which is what I did) is to install the drivers using "Avast Drivers". This is a paid product but you can get a free trial and cancel your subscription.I used this software to install the necessary TP link drivers automatically as well as other drivers that I needed. Once I got the drivers installed this has been working with 0 faults. Has not stopped working even once since I started using it unlike every other usb adapter that I have used!!Pros:- Works flawelessly with drivers- Super easy installation- Small form factor so it doesn't hog space in your rigThis product has no cons for me so far, it's the only network interface that has actually worked for me properly unlike everything else I've tried (USB adapters and USB tethering got really annoying eventually). Could not reccomend this highly enough! If you are having driver issues try using automated driver installers like avast!

I'm using this on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit PC.I couldn't use the port on my motherboard so just bought one that was good enough from the present reviews.Hardware installation was easy and straightforward, turned on PC, took about 30 seconds to get connected after logging on. Got it working in under 10 minutes from opening the parcel.Came with a small guide and an installation CD.The claimed complient OS are:Windows: 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7LinuxNovell(When I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 on it, I'll update this review.Came in strong anti-static bag, which is considerably stronger than the ones I've been getting from the Seagate 3.5 drives recently. The only nag is that the ethernet clip preventing accidental disengagements,is facing upwards when connected to the network card. This is a problem for me and perhaps to others is that the PCIE x1 slot is the first and most upper slot on the motherboard. The access to the card slots are indented by 1cm to the rest of the rear of the PC case.Proving difficult removing the cable and you're trying to get a finger between the clip and the underside of the card slot enclosure-type. And if your PC is low down from your position, you're unable to see the flashing LEDs of their activity.Besides the physical complications for me, I'd recommend this to Windows 7 users, due to the fluidity of installiation.I saw that the 3 reviews giving this 1* did not state their OS.

After 2 years using a wifi extender (Netgear EX160) and feeding connection via an ethernet cable to the desktop PC, this purchase of the wifi card makes me wonder why did I allow myself to suffer all this time?!Took about 5 minutes to fiddle with (The bracket and my PC case were not playing ball) but managed to do it and fits snug!Drivers? unsure about whether I needed to install them myself or Windows 10 done it itself but as soon as I booted it up I immediately found my network, connected and from surviving on 20-30mb/s with the frequent disconnections of my extender to having over 100mb/s DL - download speed (Peaked at 177mb/s DL speed with 25mb/s upload with virgin media). This has been byfar my best purchase on Amazon to date.I will review it in the next couple months again to let you know as its still early days.Packaged come in its original box with a sticker of my address and name which was worrisome as I do have concerns with transit but seems ok, the box didn't have any damages.I do expect in the future, with computer components to come well packaged next time though @AmazonUK !My PC is located upstairs and the router is downstairs above the fireplace, I'm between 5 walls and a ceiling and the extender was seriously struggling but yet, this gizmo has proven its self from the very get go.I've seen loads of people review and add comments about particular drivers needing to be installed

First off, I've had misgivings about TP-Link after buying one of their ADSL modem/routers. It was cheap and worked well enough, but in terms of configuring the thing it left a lot to be desired. But despite that, I bought this for my desktop PC after upgrading to fibre, where it was no longer practical to physically connect my desktop to the new router. Arrived well-packaged and right on time. Installation was easy, simply plug in and go.To be honest, I didn't look at any of the instructions provided because they weren't needed. First time booting Windows 8.1 after installing this card, my computer froze. But a quick reset and it booted fine next time round, autodetected the card and installed the required drivers.Linux (Linux Mint) on the same PC recognised the card straight away and configured it without any hassle. It's now been running continuously (this PC doesn't get switched off) for about 3 weeks now, with full connection strength and no disconnections. Other devices such as my phone or tablet, when used in the same room as the PC, only get around 3-4 bars of wifi signal strength.During big downloads from the Internet it transfers data at the full speed of my phone line (around 65Mbit/s). On the few times I've had to transfer data from this PC to another device on my home network it's been as fast as the target device can handle it's been at or near the 450Mbit/s rate advertised.

I thought my onboard network adaptor was playing up with random network drops, so decided to buy this to bypass the onbaord one. This card comes as a full height card, though also comes with a half height backplate which you can swap to if you are fitting into a machine with half height slots. The card itself is very small which is perfect since you should have no issues with it blocking up space or airflow if for example you had a graphics card in an adjacent slot (I don't mean double height card of course!)I went into BIOS, disabled the onboard network card, then switched off and opened up the case.As you can see from the photo, the card fits nicely into the small PCIEx1 slot (I'd always wondered what would really ever use those slots and my question is now answered!)On booting up Windows 10, this was automatically detected as a Realtek Gigabit network card and configured automatically without need of the driver disks. Though I did manually update to the ones on the disk since they seem to be a couple of years newer than the ones detected by Windows 10.In terms of performance, it seems to run just as well as the existing onboard 1Gbit adapter. I noticed no network drops during my time and I could see it connected and transferring data at the 1Gbit speed. For £9, this is a great network card and if you're in the situation of needing one, I can definitely recommend this one.
