Week 1 review of the iPad 12.9.Anyone opening this as a 1st time owner but not new to Apple products, the first thing you will notice is that the product packaging; IE the box has changed in some way. It feels cheap!! After breaking the seal my heart sunk worried the almost 1k price tag was going to be a regret. First thoughts were; Steve Jobs would not have let this go out to customers with such a price tag and such an obvious corner cut on product packaging. Maybe you think nothing of this but to me, this is corners cut. The ink seems slightly not so HD, the cardboard is just as rigid but the weight is gone. Apple price tag with Samsung eco packaging feel.Shock horror what else have Apple cut costs on...?So I took the rest of it out, powered it up straight on to 92% battery. Not bad, usually much higher when it drops straight from the manufacturer next day though right! After installing some apps, NOT doing a restore and having a quick play? I’d say 1.5 hours max the battery went down to 86%. This is a Wi-fi only model in space grey so no mobile tower searches dragging on the battery. Shock horror number 2 right there.Build quality and aesthetics are still up there, it feels solid in the hand and nothing felt questionable there but something is amiss with this release. Again, especially for the price tag.I’m no Apple fanboy either, I’ll drop cash on hot tech from both Apple and Google, no Samsung though.I feel this purchase is going to both give me something to dislike Apple about and regret the cash thrown at it for sheer excitement of the usual quality and additions of the 12.9 screen, Lidar and Apple Pencil 2 functions. It’s not your new laptop either, seriously- do not buy this to do that unless you are a very light user and don’t use full processing power. If you email and web browse generally it might do it for you but I cannot see this as being my go to machine for what I’d usually grab my MacBook for.Maybe it’s been oversold, over advertised and over promised. I don’t know but be weary of this latest edition. If you don’t need an upgrade yet keep an eye on reviews, software releases/updates and definitely battery life.Once I’ve got the Apple Pencil 2 and satisfied it’s in a case worthy of protecting it I’ll edit this to add my first month with it. For now tread cautious, all may not be what it seems this time with Apple.

This is a beautiful tablet that easily replaces a laptop/desktop for me.Having moved from Apple phones years ago I have tried a couple of times to move away from Apple on the tablet front too. This has never ended well. The closest I have got was with Samsung’s top slate but it was probably 70% as good. This is not one for the budget wary but when comparing to similar spec computers it’s actually a bargain.I’ll start with aesthetics. This is a thing of beauty. The slightly sharper lines feel so premium it’s not even worth talking about. The screen is beautiful and watching Prime Video/Netflix on it is a joy. I can’t wait to watch sport on it,when sport starts again that is.The basics are all covered easily but some are so well taken care of it makes using a desktop feel clumsy and awkward at times. I could type on this thing for hours without any problem. My only gripe is that going back to edit text never seems quite as easy as it does on Android. The bigger screen (I am upgrading from the 10.5 inch) makes typing feel much more natural and watching/reading just so much nicer. Shopping is so nice it may cause me to spend more money though, with colours so accurate you’re never surprised when something arrives.I’ve only had this for a couple of days so the differences I’ve enjoyed most so far are exploring AR. My 3 year old now has a pet dragon in the living room and the stargazing app I’ve used actually works! Also it moves closer to Android with gestures as it has no physical buttons on the visible portion when using. Sound doesn’t sound any better than on the older model but it’s amazingly good for something with such small speakers. I don’t think anyone is actually listening to music without dedicated headphones or a speaker, are they? But the sound for videos and “tv” are perfectly sufficient.Overall it’s not just gorgeous. It’s practical, helpful and does more than an iPad ever has. Apple are slowly polishing a gem.Massive tip for iPad writers! I’ve discovered that if you swipe two fingers around the keyboard it brings up a cursor for editing text! This honestly makes the iPad loads better for me so thought I’d share the tip.

1. The new rear camera system and augmented realityApple’s single biggest change to the 2020 iPad Pros is obvious from the outside: a redesigned rear camera system. 2018 iPad Pros had a single large lens akin to the iPhone XR’s — a 12-Megapixel, f/1.8 aperture “1X” camera with no optical zoom abilities — but the 2020 iPad Pro uses the square camera block design found in 2019’s iPhone 11s. Somewhat like the standard iPhone 11, Apple adds a “0.5X,” f/2.4 aperture ultrawide camera to the prior 1X option, but it’s not exactly the same configuration. The iPad’s second camera has only 10 megapixels and promises a 125-degree field of view, compared with the iPhone 11’s 0.5X specs of 12 megapixels and 120 degrees.2.2018 performance and accessoriesIf there’s any single huge surprise with the 2020 iPad Pro, it’s what hasn’t changed from the 2018 model — overall performance. As disclosed by spec sheets, the new iPad has an A12Z series chip, the first time Apple has used a “Z” as a suffix for one of its custom A-series processors. The name was apparently meant to signal that the A12Z is a slight upgrade from 2018’s A12X, rather than the generational or process technology leap one might have expected from an A13X or A14X, either of which would have been expected, given the iPad Pro’s upgrade history.3. The upcoming Magic Keyboard and alternatives4. Software5. Storage capacities, pricing, and conclusionsAlthough the new iPad Pro was only modestly refreshed for 2020, Apple does deserve some credit for one other tweak this year: value pricing. Beyond updating the camera system, Apple has boosted each entry level model’s storage capacity to 128GB, enabling most customers to get a perfectly viable device for less money , Previously, the entry level models were stuck with only 64GB, a marginal capacity for many prospective uses.

Definitely recommend! I have a 15 year old son, 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Me and my husband gave them 3 iPad 3s to share. Minus the fact my 11 year old isn’t as active as I would have hoped, he is trying, I can’t see any other downsides. With a mix of education apps, games and a few other apps, the 3 of them all turned out kind, smart and well mannered. My daughter got an IPad mini in 2015 and it broke in 2018, so we got her a new iPad Air for her 11th birthday. Anyway, it was mid-May and my sons birthday is in June. He usually has a list by April?, but he hadn’t this year. We asked him what he wanted and said he didn’t really want anything. We asked him at the start of June and he said he had seen the new iPad Pro and quite wanted it. He looked into it some much which made me so proud of him for doing that, taking it upon himself to know what he was getting. We got him it and keeping it a secret had been quite a challenge, especially with lock down, he had been bored and had started searching different rooms. We hid it and said the box was from his dads work. The look on his face when he opened the box the next day as he opened the wrapping paper made me so happy. He set the whole thing up himself and is saving for the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard or something. He seems so happy with it and hasn’t stopped thanking us to this day.In summary, don’t feel this iPad is only for adults. As long as your child is over the age of 8 and can be trusted enough, it’s fine.

Apple pencil is a magic tool if you are planning to do illustrations on your tablet!!]Very precise and easy to use, the downside is that you have to purchase the app to design but it is not that expensive!!The new 10-megapixel Ultra-Wide camera certainly makes the iPad Pro far more versatile and we like the fact that Apple has now introduced more image options for owners. In our tests, photos and videos from these cameras are excellent with images looking sharp, colorful and packed with detail but tablet photography is still something that slightly baffles us.The lidar sensor aids augmented reality (AR) apps. It measures the distance to objects up to 5 meters away, allowing more accurate placement of virtual objects into the real world, particularly when they’re placed behind real objects.I can finally get every part of my work done on the tablet, without resorting to hacky work-arounds or finishing on a PC.

I had the previous version of the 12.9 Professional and after 18 months I was looking for an upgrade.Ok, so it’s an expensive item and there’s nothing particularly new about device however, the battery life is excellent, recharge is fast (from 50% to 95% in around half hour. The screen is good quality with very smooth scrolling and no lag in loading apps or websites. The new iPad Pro is versatile and has something for casual users or the more demanding business needs.I’d also recommend the ease of use of the iPad to a new users as it’s easy to understand and also robust, my 80 year old Mum used it without too much difficulty. You certainly get what you pay for and though there are cheaper tablets around, including the ones sold via display adverts in national newspapers, the Apple brand lives up to its name and as an iPad user since 2012 it’s a pleasure to use.

This is just the best tablet I have ever had and I have two earlier iPADs, a MAC computer, 3 older iphones before my current one so I really endorse Apple products. The colours on the screen are vibrant, the systems work fast, the iCloud updates keep everything synchronised, I bought a 256GB memory iPAD which means I can download so much more than before. I also bought a keyboard case so I can see the whole screen when I type and I would recommend that if anyone is buying an iPAD, just try and gather the extra money to buy an iPAD PRO

I bought this as a drawing tablet primarily for my girlfriend as she wanted to do digital art and her feedback so far since yesterday has been outstanding! The only gripe is that the camera quality is a bit crap compared to our Iphone 7 plus but we're not really going to be taking many photos with this device so we're not too bothered about that. The screen quality is outstanding and quite simply amazing and the Apple pencil works great with it!I'll probably come and update this in a few months after some more substantial usage.

I have been using the iPad since its initial release 10 years ago in 2010 and have had many devices over the years. My previous iPad was the 11 inch Pro purchased in 2018. This device is the 12.9 inch version with much improved performance and amazing display. In fairness, the iPad will never be a replacement for my desktop Mac or MacBook because it still uses iOS rather than OS but the iPad is my convienient go to daily device.Sold by and supplied by Amazon with fast free delivery.

The iPad is big enough to be able to watch movies on which is great but as it is so big, you can’t really just carry it around everywhere with you but we didn’t buy it for that - if you were thinking of something to be able to carry around all the time, I think maybe go for a smaller iPad. We also bought the Apple Pencil to use which is great! It’s so good that you can still draw and it looks like a real painting and the camera is good.

bought this for my sons 16th birthday. He has special needs and wanted to get him a device which is both accessible and easy to use.Took him a while to get use to the size of the ipad. Definitely not suitable for small hands if using it hands free. But great for large scale interaction games and video chat. Camera quality and sound are really good. Works great for home schooling in the current crisis.

nice machine but when it came to setting it up it told me to plug it into my computer-iMac-but the only lead in the box was a C to C lead (for the charger) I need a C to USB lead so I had to order one from Amazon but the lead they sent was only 30cms long to short, I could of done with at least tripple that length, spoilt my experience of Apple products not including the 'USB to C' lead

Absolutely love this iPad. Is heavier than the last and obviously accessories are more expensive being the bigger size but performance wise it knocks the socks off past iPads (and I have had a few!). Its faster, less ‘buggy’, lovely screen and very easy to read on. I use it more than my Macbook Pro now so it may not be long before the laptop becomes redundant!Highly recommend.

This is a brilliantly designed piece of kit BUT you’ll have to throw away all those accessories that you’ve used with your old iPad and iPhone. Your head phones won’t fit because there is no jack socket and all those chargers and cables you have will also be useless. At this price you’d think Apple would include adapters but no. You’ll have to shell out £50+ to buy adapters!

Not being a techie I wasn't sure what size to get but decided on the 12" instead of the 11" and very pleased with it. Got a cover for it and its still easy to hold. Great for using in the kitchen with a cooking app as screen is so clear. Been playing lots of games too, downloaded about 10 so far and the storage has barely moved. Very quick and easy to use. Would recommend.
