I’ve recently bought myself a nearly-new iPad Mini 5 256Gb from elsewhere as it came up for sale.Although mine is in GOLD & comes with Wi-Fi and Cellular, most of what I’m about to say applies just as equally to the iPad Min 5 Wi-Fi whatever the colour.I used to have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch 256Gb Wi-Fi, which I reviewed on here and which was excellent IN MY VIEW IN EVERY WAY! But I had to sell it for financial reasons!Anyway, the iPad Mini 5 was released by Apple in March 2019 and unlike its predecessor iPad Mini 4 that came out in September 2015, it HAS a much more powerful and faster processor, meaning that according to reviews elsewhere the A12 Six Core Chipset on the Mini 5 IS THREE TIMES FASTER than the A8 Four Core Chipset on the iPad Mini 4.I can believe that! The More Up-To-Date Graphics Chipset on the Mini 5 is also supposed to be NINE TIMES FASTER than on the Mini 4. I can testify to that, as when I restored my apps on to the Mini 5 from my iCloud, they all loaded very fast!.THESE IN MY VIEW , are reasons to invest in an iPad Mini 5PROS:1) Much faster processor & Graphics2) TRUE TONE ambient lighting that mimics the look of a REAL BOOK when you’re reading an ebook on your Kindle App for instance! It also AUTOMATICALLY adjusts the available light so you can EVEN SEE THE SCREEN IN VERY BRIGHT SUNLIGHT!3) 3Gb of RAM to enable tasks to be executed more quickly4) 120Mhz Refreshing to ENSURE that your Screen does NOT FLICKER!4) 1st Generation APPLE PENCIL SUPPORT, if you feel you need One and can afford the Apple Pencil!5) More efficient low-energy Bluetooth 5.0 Technology compared to the Bluetooth 4.0 on the iPad Mini 46) Screen Protectors and Cases for the iPad Mini 4 can still fit the iPad Mini 5, as the dimensions seem to have stayed the same: Length * Breadth * Thickness ➡️ 203.2 * 134.8 * 6.1mm (8.0 * 5.31 * 0.24in)7) The weight of the tablet has remained roughly the same: 300.5g/10.60 oz (Wi-Fi), 308.2g/10.87 oz (3G/LTE) vs iPad Mini 4 299g/10.55 oz (Wi-Fi), 304g/10.72oz (3G/LTE)CONS:1) They are expensive to buy! But then they are of QUALITY and you have good backup from Apple when you contact them on their UK 0800 Number!2) The iPad Mini 5, just like iPhone 7 etc from 2016 onwards has NO HEADPHONE JACK. However, you are provided (when NEW) with a Lightning to Headphone Jack Adaptor. Although this means you cannot listen to your music via the wired AirPods (Apple-Speak for Headphones) WHILE YOU’RE CHARGING YOUR TABLET, there are quality adaptors on the market, which I believe allow you to listen to your music at the same time as charging your tablet. Alternatively, you can just invest in a quality reasonably-priced BLUETOOTH/WIRELESS HEADPHONES From Amazon. On a slightly different note, from iOS 12 Updates onwards I BELIEVE, you get a dock at the bottom of your iPad, consisting of five items that are always there [and you can amend IF YOU WISH ] to the left, and to the right, your three most recently-used apps, so you ALWAYS HAVE QUICK AND EASY ACCESS TO THEM.I like that in Apple iOS 13 update, just like one has been able to do for quite some time on Google-based Android Operating System Devices, YOU CAN JUST SWIPE YOUR FINGERS ACROSS THE KEYBOARD, MOVING FROM ONE LETTER TO ANOTHER FAIRLY QUICKLY TO WRITE YOUR WORDS.One suggestion though: I’ve found that IF I want to amend SLIGHTLY a word I’ve just SWIPE-WRITTEN, it’s best to PRESS THE SPACE BAR BEFORE TRYING TO AMEND THE PARTICULAR WORD, OTHERWISE THE WORD JUST GETS WIPED OUT! (The Swipe-Writing gets better with trial and error, the more ONE uses the feature. It does require perseverance. IT IS WORTH WAITING to see what word has been swipe-typed for you BEFORE CHOOSING THE ALTERNATIVE WORD SUGGESTION OFFERED TO YOU BY THE SYSTEM!)And also, on an mini iPad, just like on an iPad, you just swipe up from the middle of the BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN TO CALL UP ALL THE APPS THAT ARE OPEN! To close one of the “open apps”, JUST TOUCH IT GENTLY AND SWIPE UPWARDS TO CLOSE IT!To call up the Control Centre, you need to swipe down from the Top Right Hand Corner of the iPad mini Screen. AND INCIDENTALLY, the ONLY WAY I KNOW TO MUTE THE SOUNDS ON THE IPAD MINI, JUST AS WITH THE IPAD, IS BY TOGGLING/TAPPING GENTLY ON THE BELL ICON which is situated in the Control Centre. (Please see enclosed pics). And two more things, just like on the iPad Mini 4 and other more recent iPads, the ON/OFF BUTTON, which also acts as the SLEEP BUTTON, IS ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND EDGE OF THE IPAD MINI 5, if you were looking directly at the Screen of the Tablet. And also the VOLUME UP/DOWN BUTTON IS ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND EDGE OF THE TABLET, IF YOU’RE LOOKING DIRECTLY AT THE SCREEN OF THE TABLET.By the way, the iPad mini 4 is still a good tablet, which my daughter loves. HOWEVER, I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND BUYING THE IPAD MINI 5 AS AND WHEN ONE CAN STRETCH THE FUNDS TO BUY ONE! - I’ve been given mine as an early Anniversary and Birthday Present! Thanks for reading. I hope you find my REVIEW HELPFUL!

I think that this tablet is the most reasonably priced and speced Apple device in the last few years. No overpriced gimmicks, no underwhelming perfomance cuts... it packs everything that makes iOS great and comes at a size that doesn't compete with a phone or a laptop. Here are some pros and cons I noted down:Pros:- Beautiful screen- Fully featured (Touch ID, decent front and back cameras, powerful processor)- Smooth apple experience- Amazing battery life and minimum consumption when sleeping. Can literally go through a week when the usage is minimal.- Will be supported with updates for years. The upcoming iOS update will bring desktop mode browsing, proper file management and fix many things that don't make sense in iOS.- Supports apple pencil 1st gen if that is something you really need.Cons:- Kickstand options from available accessories pale in comparison to Microsoft Surface tablets.- U̶n̶a̶c̶c̶e̶p̶t̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶s̶t̶a̶g̶r̶a̶m̶ ̶a̶p̶p̶.̶ ̶I̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶l̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶p̶o̶o̶r̶l̶y̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶n̶s̶f̶e̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶p̶p̶s̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶i̶p̶h̶o̶n̶e̶,̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶.̶ Edit: The app was updated during the fall of 2019.- No usb (any type) ports.- No nfc paymentsAll in all it is a perfect device for that size. I think it is amazing for multimedia purposes and basic every day tasks when away from home. The only real competitor in this category I can think of is the Microsoft Surface Go, which is better on every productivity oriented task, especially when combined with a keyboard. Still, features like the touch ID, the iOS store and most of all the outstanding battery life of the iPad Mini are more essential on a small tablet in my opinion.

The iPad mini 5th gen is a great device. A happy medium between the larger iPads and the iPhone. The screen is substantially larger than an iPhone XS Max yet it is still small enough to transport with ease. The apple pencil functionality is good but not having somewhere to store the thing is a pain. The pencil is large, not far off the height of the device and i would have liked a silo in the device and a much smaller writing implement like the Galaxy note phones have to make casual note taking much easier.I looked at the iPad Pro but decided to avoid due to the bending issues they have and the size. I see the iPad mini as a great companion to the iPhone and Apple Mac which I always travel with. There are so many times that the phone is too small yet its not convenient to get the laptop out and fire it up and the iPad mini fills this gap well.Going for the cellular version gives great flexibility. If your travelling you can just buy data as you need it and not get hit with big bills using roaming data on your phone. Turn on the hot spot and your phone and Mac can have the access they need.It really is a little powerhouse of a device. In the next generation I would like to see a silo and smaller pen, thinner bezels which would also increase the screen size (not that the current size is a problem), face ID rather than touch ID, the ports on the side to allow for a snap on keyboard. Apart from that its almost perfect for my needs.

Before purchasing this tablet, I researched the options available. My unique buying point was portablity and power with enough oomfto tackle most tasks without difficulty. Some reviewers had a more tangential viewpoint placing screen size as the most desirable itemIn their objectives thus ruling out this little but powerful beauty from their list. More fool them I say, because as a somewhat silver surfer this really is the bees knees. There is no aspect of this pint sized machine I am unhappy with ( and that includes the bezel spread around the edges). First Apple product I have bought and consider it to be great value for money.

I LOVE MY IPAD MINI 5I am using it right now to write this review. Wonderful with the Apple Pencil. My eyes aren’t great (understatement), so I wondered if I would have trouble with the size. However, although this mini is small, compact and light, the screen doesn’t seem that much smaller than my old iPad 3.One of the best things that I have bought for a long time. Very, very happy with it. It’s my little friend that goes with me everywhere (unlike my chunky brick of the iPad 3, which was a real pain to lug about)

A great piece of technology works fast and connects well. Just right size and weight. Now use for just about everything and starting to use as an e-reader for books as display is so good. You need Itunes on a PC to really be able to load up books/music & documents but once you've got the hang of that it is quite flexible and MP3/MP4 Pdf's and EPUB books all load once you get the right app for them.Only problem : System Upgrade crashed it and it needed many attempts to get it back

Been using for about 6 weeks I have the 256gb version couldn’t be happier had no problems at all. Excellent in every aspect. Much better than my old laptop. I’m 56 years old and use this to keep in touch with the world. I have heart problems so don’t get out much. Prefer the smaller size cause easier to carry around. Excellent picture quality & sounds good too. Does more than my laptop ever did. Love my music so signed up to a few sights found Amazon the best in my opinion.

Having had an iPad mini for the past 6 years, it needed replacing, so I bought this up to date one & it is absolutely great for the money. I use it every day, it's powerful, reliable, you can do most things on it that you could on a big computer & I'm very happy with it so far. It fits well into my handbag too. I find that the new iPad's are able to install all your data automatically & its so very easy to do all by wireless or bluetooth or magic or something...

The screen sensitivity failed I was unable to use the centre of the screen, I sent it back for repair following the instructions to include all accessories (charger) and packed it in original box. I have just received it back and it seems to be working fine. But packed in a thinner box without charger. Contacted Ingram Micro who were unable or unwilling to help and suggested I contact Amazon direct. I will update this review if and when Amazon respond.

Very well built, very robust but not much difference from my mini 2. Ok it’s got 3 gb Ram and 64 gb memory storage but it’s still got a physical home button, what’s that all about!!!I gave my mini iPad 2 to my grandson and I personally haven’t noticed any difference upgrading to iPad mini 5 At least with a decent cover fitted to it, I don’t need to keep pressing the home button to wake it up, the magnets in the cover wake it up when opened. It’s ok

Great product - small enough to fit into pocket yet full of features.Great screen definition and a joy to use with apple pencil. Battery life hasbeen much better than I anticipated, and charges on same lead as iphonewhich saves carrying around lots of wires. Screen display is the same aspreviously used and it would have ben nice to have an updated display, but only a minor criticism. Expensive still but a great product.

This is the first iPad I have purchased. Up to now I have had a number of 7" Asus Android tablets. I like to use them for e-book reading (hence the 7" book-like size). Although versatile, these Android tablets are slow. I am still amazed how fast the iPad mini 5 is. The lack of buttons and Apple's filing system takes some getting used to, but you quickly get accustomed to it. I can strongly recommend this tablet.

Sold my old iPad 3 as soo sloow and heavy, and tried this latest mini model, very impressed with the size, weight, screen and ability to write and use the the Pencil facility, in fact so impressed, I purchase another two wireless models for my other half and my grandchildren, as my grand-daughter loves drawing and sketching and was absolutely hooked playing colour by numbers with the Apple pencil, highly recommend

Absolute belter of a tablet. If you’re looking for a smaller form factor, look no fiurther. This is one mean little machine. From a raw power perspective it beats out the best android has to offer, beats the tab s6. The screen is superb for its size. Sound quality is great. Speed is great as well. This is the ideal travelling companion. You really can’t go wrong with this tablet if you want slightly smaller.

I only bought this to use as a screen for my mavic 2 pro but it’s a great little ipad, I have several iPads including an iPad Pro, this little iPads performance is quite impressive! So if your after a mini ipad this is a great device. But if it’s an ipad your interested in buying I would recommend the larger screen variety and if money isn’t a problem I would go for the larger iPad Pro because it’s superb.
