I've been an iPad user for many years, since the iPad 2 in fact and have owned many different iPads over the years. Lately, I've been without an iPad for the last 12-18 months for various reasons but with the release of iPadOS it felt like the right time to be reacquainted with the iPad.For all intents and purposes the 7th generation iPad is your typical iPad, the design will be familiar to many with the larger border at the top and bottom of the screen and the inclusion of the home button. The big difference with this generation is the larger screen, an increase from the standard 9.7 inches to 10.2 inches. To me this wasn't noticeable, half an inch upon first glance didn't really make that much of a difference but then I wasn't coming from a smaller screened iPad to make the initial distinction. One thing that was immediately noticeable was the air gap between the actual LCD display and the cover glass. I owned an iPad Air 2 for a few years and that had a laminated display which eliminated the air gap, but was likely a more expensive part. Therein lies the reason for using the cheaper component, to keep the cost lower for the consumer. However, I would have thought that by now the cost of a laminated display would have reduced over the years and Apple should include them in the standard iPad. Most users will never notice the air gap and wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about, but for the tech savvy consumer who is going to ask the question about whether or not they will notice the air gap then the answer is yes.Another smaller difference with this iPad is the inclusion of the Smart Connector on the left hand side, this enables the use of Apple's Smart Keyboard. You can of course use standard bluetooth keyboards or any of the myriad of keyboard cases available from other manufacturers. The display on this iPad is compatible with the first generation Apple Pencil which can be used for marking up, taking notes, drawing, etc. I haven't purchased the Apple Pencil yet, I couldn't draw to save my life but it's something that I may get at a later date in the hope of learning to draw something beyond a stick figure. Then we come to iPadOS. So far I've setup my iPad from new, downloaded all the apps I currently use and have started using my iPad as I have done before. There are a few touches to iPadOS that are immediately noticeable such as the smaller icon size for apps and the ability to pin widgets to your desktop. There are so many changes that I've found the Tips app useful in explaining exactly what they are and once I know what they are I can then incorporate them into my usage. I have yet to buy a keyboard and start using my iPad for doing real work, but already I'm thinking about how I can achieve a productivity workflow using the iPad. There are so many swipes and gestures and little known things with iPadOS that it may take some time to get up to speed with everything. If you simply want an iPad for the basics such as checking email, surfing the web, watching video and playing games then you're in luck. Despite all of the grand changes to the software you can still use the iPad in the same way as you have before, not everyone will want to learn some of the more advanced features. There are a few little changes that you'll have to get used to such as the Dock and maybe you'll use features such as Slide Over and Split View but if you don't want to go beyond that then that's fine.I opted for the 32GB model and wondered if it would be a little too tight but so far I'm only used 18GB so that gives me a bit of room to grow. I do use iCloud and all my photos/videos are stored there rather than on the iPad along with any files that I need to use. For most people that only need the iPad for basic tasks then the 32GB model will be more than suitable. If you plan on using it for school or work then it really depends on what you actually need to keep locally and whether you can rely on iCloud or other cloud storage options for everything else.If you're in the market for an iPad then this is the cheapest model that Apple offers, yet it has all the big features of the more expensive models. If you want to use the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil then you can, they all share the same software and you can accomplish the same tasks just as well as any other iPad. The small increase in screen real estate may be worth it to some and is certainly welcome after years of being stuck at 9.7 inches. As with most Apple products this will remain fast and responsive for several years and will benefit from the annual iPadOS software updates for some time. The 7th generation is quintessentially iPad and has taken a step forward from previous models to embrace changes in consumer needs and the changes to its software. There has been a slight increase in price this year to £349 but Amazon sells at a slight discount. Plus if you do decide to get the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil there is an additional cost of £159 and £89 respectively. It's worth shopping around or at the very least saving up and buying the accessories at a later date if needed.

The device has a beautiful screen and an excellent build quality, as is to be expected from Apple. The device replaced a five year old iPad. I was looking forward to see what the new OS and hardware was like, and I wasn't disappointed so far after 6 months of ownership.Multitasking, pen support, use of the iPad as a desktop extension with iMac and of course excellent performance in a polished package. Battery life is excellent, I use the device several hours a day and sometime even find the device still running in the morning after falling asleep whilst watching something. The device also came with a free 1 year AppleTV+ subscription at the time of purchase. Whilst the AppleTV+ service is still ints infancy, the AppleTV app is a good aggregator of other online services used on the device, showing suggestions from Amazon Prime, UK TV players (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, 5), and allowing you to jump to the corresponding app to pick up a program where you left it or watch something new. This is a nice app from this perspective, and it has become my media hub.My favourite feature is really the pen functionality. it is a powerful and useful feature, but it doesn't come close to Ms Surface pen implementation in my humble opinion. But why should it? It is not aimed at the same audience. I use a no name pen to annotate documents or create quick diagrams using Microsoft OneNote, for this purpose the device is perfectly fit for purpose. The only feature I am missing is the ability to manage my apps screens from my desktop PC, which meant quite a lot time spent re arranging app icons one by one when I set up the device. The capacity is not enough to accommodate a large amount of data. 32GB is not the free capacity available out of the box. The operating system and pre-installed apps already use quite a bit of this space. Install a few apps, download a few songs and you will have only a couple of GBs left, barely enough to download 1 movie ahead of a trip. This is not an issue for me, but this is something to be aware of.I really enjoy using this device and am very happy with my purchase. I would therefore recommend this model but only if like me you only work/play in the cloud, anything more you'll need one of the higher capacity models.

I get the apple education discount. I've spent half an hour discussing my options with Apple support. I couldn't decide between the 32GB or the 128GB option as I wanted a budget iPad but, as always, the add ons are something that shows only when you get closer to putting together your order. I was just about to buy it but then I checked The same model, same storage option, was around £50 less than the DISCOUNTED one on Apple store. Trust me, I am an Apple customer with years of experience in buying apple products (they don't make them last long lol). I also like to save money but only if it makes sense. Don't trust anyone who says it's better to buy it off Apple.I did some research and Amazon became an authorised seller because Apple did not want to have random people selling their products on Amazon. They reached a deal so that everything else gets removed off Amazon and there we go, a cheaper price with a lower profit margin for Amazon. It reached me in the original packaging, all foiled up. Synchronised straight away. I am so happy with it! I read a review saying it's better to buy refurbished products off Apple store - no, no, no. This is brand new, amazing and comes with the usual guarantee. Besides, most people get gadget insurance separately anyway, my bank covers my iPhone, MacBook, kindle and now iPad :) As for the product itself, the Apple pencil (or alternative) functionality is so great... I'm using it for taking notes, annotating students' work and drawing diagrams for my lessons :)

Bought this for my mum as she has the old ipad air and is not that technologically advanced so she's used to that style of ipad compared to the new ipad pros with no buttons. Unfortunately a lot of apps were now unsupported because of the age of her old ipad, so when I saw this as a bigger and better version of the ipad she knows and loves, I just had to get it, especially at a £299 price point compared to £700 for the other ipad pro. She loves it, runs super smooth, brighter and bigger.Only downside, which is not of the product itself, but amazon didn't send me the ipad on the first deliver attempt. Instead they sent me 3 gaming mice which I didn't order and I was really concerned that I was not going to be able to get my money back or get a replacement. However, a lovely guy in customer services spent a couple of hours on live chat with me whilst I sent him photographs and everything, and was really helpful in sending me a replacement and arranging a collection for the gaming mice all to be done the next day. Both the collection and delivery came on time and couldn't be happier. Given the type of item and the cost of it, I would probably video yourself opening the sealed box in case the ipad isnt in the box. Luckily thats what I did and helped me resolving the issue with CS.

My old 2012 iPad2 was getting slow and this new 2019 iPad has a number of improvements for a 25% lower price than the 2012 model. The display is now 10.2 inches rather than 9.7 inches and is Retina HD 2160x1620 quality rather than 1024x768. The camera on the back of the iPad is now 8MP rather than 0.7MP and takes 1080HD video and there is a front 1.2MP camera for Facetiming in HD rather than 0.3MP. A charger is included with a Lightning compact connector, there are twin stereo speakers and the iPad can be accessed using a fingerprint Touch ID sensor. The first generation Apple Pencil can be used with this model for graphics applications. Finally, the base storage is now 32Gb rather than 16Gb and this 2019 iPad has 3Gb of RAM rather than the 500Mb of the 2012 model. A fast quad core 64bit chip is used in conjunction with iPadOS 13.3 in this seventh generation model rather than the dual core 32 bit A5 processor of the second generation which started with IOS 4 and was upgraded eventually to IOS 9. The 2019 model weighs just 483g compared to 600g in 2012 and is highly recommended as an upgrade and replacement.

Really happy with this purchase does everything that it’s meant to so far tried variety of Apps Drawing Apos are great with the Pencil love Procreate! The iPad office apps are great (equivalent to MS Office) also tried editing short movie clips on iMovie that was fine too no lagging or glitches everything works fast and reliable. Was going to purchase IPad Pro but I’m glad I made this decision for less and altogether bought everything on Amazon the IPad 2019 model got screen protector a Apple Pencil similar to the real one for less got the hardcase Keyboard/Case 2 in one. Got the whole lot for £395 do a good bargain compared to the IPad Pro which would have been allot more with the accessories. This IPAD does everything the PRO does with less specs that you would even notice!! As the specs are more than enough to carry out the tasks in any App so what’s the point spending so much on the other model.

Upgraded from an iPad 2 running iOS9, and am really pleased. iPadOS really does make the iPad feel like a fully fledged tablet, and not just a big iPhone.Used it yesterday for work, and for the first time I didn’t miss my laptop. Being able to have split screen, and then more apps open in the floating window is a game changer (for me anyway). I’m a pastor, so being able to have Pages, Kindle, and Hebrew/Greek Scriptures open too is really helpful. Sermons export directly into Apple Books, and can preach without depending on lights, or fearing losing my place due to accidental scrolling! The battery life is great too - though it’s a new iPad, so will see if it’s still good in a year.Works with the Pencil stylus, which may work well for connecting to an external monitor to highlight text etc.Negatively, the 32gb can be used very quickly - but that’s not a surprise in this day and age.

This replaced my Air 2, which, while it didn’t have anything really wrong with it, just didn’t seem as nippy as it used to be. The iPad 7 however, where do I start? Firstly it’s a little bigger, not by much, but easier to see with my dodgy eyesight! It feels a bit lighter too, but I’ve yet to find a case that I like so that will no doubt add a bit. I don’t know enough about the technical side of this iPad to make any lofty judgements but I know that it has the usual bells and whistles expected of a top quality product. When I first set it up, it was behaving quite oddly; lagging badly and unable to access a couple of websites, but I managed to find a crappy little app that was causing the problem so I got rid of it,restarted it and it works like a dream.I’m a huge fan of Apple products and this doesn’t disappoint.

I bought the 128G version of the 10.2" while the lock down was on,is was on sale £50 cheaper than usual and I was tempted. So far I haven't had a problem with it,everything works perfectly.I like photo editing and arty type stuff and it runs the Affinity Apps and Procreate just fine. The Apple pencil is excellent and so much better than the cheaper ones, can't imagine using an ipad without one now.Surfing the internet is a doddle, games work fine (although I'm not really a gamer and only tried a couple of sci fi types.)AR works ok,I'm not very good with that need more experience with it.At the moment Barclays are running an interest free promotion-till August I think-so go for it if you cant comeup with the readies..You can get the ipad pro and pencil from about £12 a week for 2 years...that is soo tempting.

4 years back I switched to OnePlus from apple because of the service issues and policies of apple. And I am a happy OnePlus customer for last 4 years. When I am looking for a tablet , I know the options are limited. So again apple came to my mind, I am shortlisted Surface , pixel and ipad. When I look deeply into features , performance and price I understood that I do not have any other option otherthan apple. There is not much briefing required about apple's asthetic design and OS. No word to explain about the built quality and professional touch. But still having issues with storage and power point presentations. We cannot organise files in our desired way compare to Android and windows....

Bought as a Christmas present. Unfortunately the first one went missing during delivery but Amazon sent another out right away. I didn't receive it until after Christmas and although disappointed, after the receiver couldn't make his mind up if he wanted a new iPad or not, therefore I had started the return process then had to cancel the return process. Amazon were brilliant and VERY patient! The receiver of the iPad (almost to his head?) is now VERY pleased and it seems to have been given the ?. I got a fairly good deal when I bought it. The screen size is so much bigger and picture much clearer than his older iPad.

First time I've had an apple product so found it a little difficult to set up as I didn't have an account with apple. It wouldn't accept my existing e-mail so had to revive an old one I had? In the end I had to get my granddaughter on the job! She already had an apple account but still came across the same problems I did. In the end she found a solution. Having said all that i love it now it's up and running. Love big screen and absolute clarity of picture. Just working my way round it now in terms of downloading the apps I use etc. I'm sure I will be very happy with it once I'm familiar with all of the functions

I have had my old iPad since 2014, which I use everyday, but is too old to support updates (which disappoints me that Apple do that) and is on its last legs. Decided to take the plunge and buy this one. Arrived next day and as per the advise of others, popped my iPhone next to it and the set was therefore so easy, this may well be different for others without existing Apple accounts etc. Lighter, slightly larger screen, crisp, clear and faster than my other one. Would comment that the battery is only so so, hence 4 stars. You may it better to change to chrome as the browser. Really pleased and would recommend.

After 8 years, my daughters iPad3s were starting to creak; slow, running out or memory, and desired Apps were not compatible.Took the plunge (partially due to lock-down) and bought 2 10.2 iPads. I've not (yet) regretted the purchase for a moment. They're fast (very fast compared to iPad3), and happily the new machines were able to download the original profiles from the cloud. The charge retention, and recharging time is massively improved, as are the various security features.I'm glad I hung on as long as possible to the old machines (mine now!), but really pleased with what we've bought!

I have bought two of these (the bundle) I will write this after only a couple of days and the other one in a couple of weeks to see if there is any difference. " bought for my home educated 12 and 15 year old children. So far they are amazing. We down loaded Procreate as they are both heavily into art. The set up was easy and within 20 mins they were exploring the features. We have gone from 2 very basic hp notebook laptops to these and are very happy. This will make their education a lot more user friendly. Today we have tried the camera and video camera outdoors and the quality is superb.
