I checked my Power-Check device against a professional multimeter which is accurate to 0.05%, using a low-noise laboratory power supply as the voltage source. From 9V to 16V at room temperature the error in the indicated voltage varied between 0.0V and 0.2V (always on the low side). That's better than about 2% accuracy, which isn't too bad for cheap, Chinese-made consumer gadgets. Below 9V the readings become rubbish, never dropping below 8V and not even maintaining monotonicity, but I don't think that's really going to be a problem because if your battery voltage is less than 9V then you know for sure you're in trouble. The voltage measurement resolution is 0.1V. The readings were very stable in the lab,and in the car they are still fairly stable don't flicker around. The green LED lights up for indicated readings from 12.1V to 14.9V and the red LED lights up outside this range. I didn't check 24V operation. In my car (first generation Mazda6) the device is small enough to close the flap over the cigar lighter socket/ashtray with it still plugged in. It consumed about 13mA when operating. My cigar lighter socket is unpowered when the ignition key is removed but if, for some reason, yours isn't then the current draw is low enough that you could probably leave this voltmeter plugged in permanently as long as your battery is in good condition and you drive the car frequently.Although it says "Germany" several times on the device, packaging and instruction leaflet it is actually made in China ("Made in PRC by ANSMANN Germany").

Fantastic device. I owned something similar to this 15 years ago but several moves and I could not find it when the car better died. Very simple to use, tells you everything you need to know, how healthy is my battery, is the alternator working, is the battery still able to 'cold crank'. Yes there are plenty of similar devices, some a little cheaper. but Ansmann are experts in bettery and tester design. So personally, I think trying to save a quid or two is nuts!Three green lights and unless you leave the lights on, your car will start every morning. It arrived quickly, was extremely well packaged. Very good service.

I've had lots of NiMH rechargeables go faulty (high-impedance) after a couple of years in DECT phones and other equipment. These batteries measure fine/fully charged with a voltmeter or cheap 'tester' that doesn't apply a load but are correctly identified as flat with this tester. The LED bar graph indicates the state of charge but note you have to read it differently for rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries, which isn't really explained well in the instructions and might confuse a novice who doesn't appreciate the lower voltage of rechargeables. However, that's the only minor failing for me

A real boon during lock down! With lots of short hops an the agenda and an oldish 3 litre lump to start up it's easy to flatten the battery. This cheap bit of kit tells you the output of your battery before start-up and then tells you the rate of charge whilst driving. I have this permanently plugged in to the cigarette lighter socket at the moment which makes it easy for me to know when to put the battery onto trickle charge.

Great gadget for the price and appears to be good quality too. Just be aware that an indication of a battery/alternator fault can be down to earthing problems, as in the case of my Freelander, so I used this tool to indicate my progress in correcting poor earthing and it's proved to be a tenner well spent; certainly better than spending money at the local Land Rover dealer who quite clearly need one of these!

Cheap and cheerful but does the job adequately. There are more expensive and informative products out there which check A/C and D/C flow and break it down into percentages for you but if you just want to know if your battery needs charging or replacing then this cheap yet effective and easy to use tool is for you.Just clip it on and look at the corresponding light........its that simple.

This is a compact and easy to use tester with a clear display.Whilst I don't possess an accurate multimeter and cannot check the voltages displayed, I have tried the tester with several 12v car batteries in several states of charge I have a high degree of confidence that the device is working correctly.

Works well with two small niggles. 9 volt battery terminals have to be level for it to work, they can become compressed unevenly over time. Without instructions I can never remember what the writing above and below the leds refers to, it says AKKU and battery 9v block - currently can't find instructions!

Excellent item did exactly what I wanted, did not need a new battery as the charger was showing Battery fully charged.Saved me some money as my second battery was also showing charged and I had a wiring fault now rectified and my electric golf trolley is back on course Thank you.

Just like it says it will do, and very reasonable in price might I say to, when I thought my batteries wanted to be charge this little tool done the job telling me that my batteries were still fully charged and didn't need charging again.

Excellent product - used to keep a watch on the level of charge from a caravan solar panel to a 12v leisure battery.Easy to use and gives clear information. Very quick delivery.I would definitely recommend this product and the seller.

I have been using this product over a year now, I think, and it does what it says on the cover. It can test the battery and the charging system. It will help prevent your battery been cooked by the charger. Great buy, as I concern.

This is a handy little gadget which is easy to use and seems to prelude use reliable results over the few months I have had it. It has different scales for alkaline and rechargeables and covers most common battery sizes.

With lockdown in progress my car is sitting on the drive unused. The AA man told me to run the engine from time to time. This meter will show you exactly when a battery top-up charge is needed saving all the guesswork.

Overall very good and easy to use. It's a bit tricky to position AA and AAA batteries correctly uintil you get the hang of it (hence only 4 *). Apart from that it's simple to use and accurate.
