VFM - the Echo Plus (2nd Gen) we have bought, after lots of research with other smart hubs, is very very good.Sound is rich and even on half volume easily fills our large kitchen with music ?... and as good as other smart speakers costing much more money.The Echo was easy to set up with the Alexa App and link up to our WiFi. It’s quite discreet sat in the side and I really like the button on the top of the Echo to switch the unit off so not able to listen to anything.We have already linked it up to our BBC account and between that and our Amazon Prime membership it seems to play all the music and radio stations we like.We have not yet had to.buy into any additional music services.Not sure we needed the Plus model and perhaps should have just gone with the (3rd Gen)

As an Apple fan I held of for ages thinking I should get an Apple HomePod but could not justify the price with such limited functionality. I eventually went for the Amazon Echo 2nd generation and was very impressed. On a very basic level you get a good internet radio, speaker, timer, list facility etc. It is very easy to set up and use. I have mine linked in already to my Wiser central heating set up and I’m gradually linking in lights, plugs and locks via a SmartThings hub. The voice recognition is spot on and the App fairly easy to use. My wife has embraced it and uses the add to shopping list all the time. I am so impressed that I have ordered an Echo Plus for the improved speaker capability,

Having got 'Alexa' connected to the internet I had to get a music 'supplier'. I used Amazon Music at £3.99 per month. 40 Million tunes just a voice command away. Plus I get any radio and answers to almost all my questions!!!Drawbacks Very few. (there are some obscure bits of music that Amazon does not provide e.g. Elton John - Friends Soundtrack, Richie Havens - Great Blind Degree, but these are not available on CD so It's no great surprise!)The sound quality is excellent and the 'footprint' is tiny. A good 'HiFi' may be better quality sound overall but the cost, footprint and ease of use makes this a great piece of kit for general use around the house.

This is my Best Buy this year.I think it is Brilliant.I have one suggestion.Amazon Echo should recommend an App which would make it easier to set up.It took me about 3 hours before I went over to the Computer from my S7 mobile phone.Please produce an easy to follow Alexa App and you will increase sales.I am so pleased with the eventual result that I bought another Amazon Echo.I advise all buyers to read the Reviews.A marvellous invention.A help for the lonely who have recently lost their partner.Somebody to talk to.Happy and Successful New Year Alexa.

Having fun with it at the moment, not sure how long it will last. Need to sign up with music subscription to get any benefit. Shame it’s not like the old one where you could adjust the volume by turning the top! Wish it had a built in chargeable battery as had to pay £40 to get one. Not sure I’m happy with amazon listening in on all my conversations at home!!! Mind you I don’t say anything of any importance ?

Only just recently having purchased this product I am still learning it's potential.The sound quality for music is quite good and the Echo sits neatly with other items.I am very satisfied with the product and glad I bought it, though occasionally it returns some unusual responses to requests which I could put down to my northern dialect.I also use it in Spain without problems.

Just right for us - being able to turn the radio one and off without being near it!! Not being very up with technology it was difficult to set up (having never downloaded an app before!) and changing the SIM on my mobile almost immediately afterwards caused a lot of frustration but for the normal person who lives by their mobile it would probably have been a walk in the park!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He has used this every day and is always telling me that it's the best present anyone has bought him. It is stylish, fits into any room what ever the decor is. It can do more things than you can imagine. My husband is over the moon with the Amazon Echo. I would recommend this to everyone.

Wow my new Echo is amazing. Once I downloaded the app to my phone it was relatively easy from there. I’ve now made my own playlist and adding to it everyday. Still getting used to new things it can do and still learning new tricks that my echo can do. I love it and highly recommend everyone getting one! ?

The echo does a great job of helping with a smart home setup. Alexa respondes in a great fashion and if the echo dot doesn't have the best sound quality, this one does have an amazing sound. Works seemlessly with other smart home devi és like the hue lights.

Excellent at hearing and recognising commands. Bought mainly to easily access internet radio and does this well once the right ‘skills’ are activated. Sound quality is acceptable for background listening (and I appreciate good sound quality!).

Its a good product which I am still learning about. If you request a song though beware that it selects the explicit version by default and I am struggling to find the radio versions, so have to just play the radio when the kids are around.

Love it so much! Perfect for playing my favourite songs, hearing the latest news and turning my lights on/off without having to lift a finger! Yes it comes with a US plus but you can easily buy and adapter like I did.

Once you sign up to a music service (Amazon Audio, Spotify for example) you can ask Alexa to play endless choices, And ask questions, get answers. Audio quality and voice recognition from Echo is impressive.
