... so as a complete novice at running I am going to have lessons with a group organised by a personal trainer. I went to a specialist running shop, had a gait analysis done and purchased an expensive pair of road running trainers. On signing up I found that, as it is Cannie-cross tuition, we will be running on trails that will be muddy and slippery this time of year and I need trail shoes which have extra grip on the soles. As I did not want to pay a lot of money out for another pair I decided to look on Amazon. These were the price I wanted to pay as I may perhaps only need them for the length of the course: but I also wanted a good pair as, if it turns out the dog and I enjoy it, we may keep it up.I ordered a full size bigger than I usually take (me =4.5 these =5.5) as I found out I need when buying previous pairs of trainers. I have clicked the fit indicator button as I found they felt for me.The fitter in the running shop said you need a thumb's width between the end of your big toe and the end of the shoe; these have that. They are a good, snug fit across my foot although I do not have a particularly wide one. They do feel firm around the ankle so I hope they don't rub. The snugness/firmness could be because the material is 'robust' for being waterproof, other trainers I've had were soft mesh-type uppers. There is no lace 'lock', but they are long enough to tie in a double knot. The tongue is attatched to the opening up to the top similar to my hiking boots which means I can go through deepish puddles without the water getting in.They came 3 days before date stated, well packed and easy to open. In all I am pleased with my purchase. I will update as to how they wear.Update: I have worn my shoes for a few days walking round the house and they seem to have softened and loosened across the foot. I also did 30mins on the treadmill alternating brisk walk and run. They felt very comfy with no rubbing anywhere. I wore them with padded/support running socks. Will update again when used for cannie-cross on slippy ground.Update re running on different surfaces: as a rather 'mature' lady I was nervous about slipping and hurting myself on surfaces other than pavements, and getting over/round obstacles encountered in cross-country runs. Over the past few weeks my circuit has been on road, grass, dry and wet tracks, pebbly and sandy beach, over logs and rocks, inclines and declines, and round tight bends. After getting over the apprehension of traversing these and picking up speed with practice, I realised the grip on these soles is very good. The only thing I have not done is ran through deep puddles. If I arrive at the beach when the tide is in I will have a go. But, on their performance so far, I am quite sure my feet won't get wet.Update on 'getting feet wet': With the change in weather I have run in rainy conditions, through long wet grass and puddles. The outside got wet and they needed putting to dry on returning from run; but my feet, socks and the insides of the trainers stayed dry.My run with friends was cancelled due to covid but dog and I enjoy cannie-cross and are keeping it up. For my use (from absolute beginner able to run just a few yards to now reaching about 1.5 mile and aiming for around 5k) they are ideal and should last me for 'ages'. I consider I got a good buy for me with this pair.

650 miles after purchasing these trail shoes I feel I can offer informed feedback. I use them for daily runs and walks on mixed terrain including some aggressively rocky and steep tracks, and in all weather conditions. The most impressive aspects are the waterproofing and the outsole grip. I even felt confident to run in icy, snowy conditions without my ice cleats. They are not the most comfortable trail shoes I've owned. In fact I was tempted to send them back with a 1 star rating after my first run in them, specifically because of the folds on the inner ankle side which rubbed and blistered my ankles. I decided instead to plaster the blisters, wear slightly thicker socks and give them a better chance before condemning them, and I'm glad I did. It only took a couple more runs to soften the shoes around the ankle area, and it was brilliant finishing 6 - 8 mile runs in rainy, muddy conditions with bone dry feet for a change! For the price, they are a great choice for anyone like me who prefers trails to roads but isn't planning to break speed or distance records. They are starting to fall apart now, but have lasted longer than I expected them to.

This is my 2nd pair of Adidas runners. The first were road runners and lasted ages. These are for trails, they're proven waterproof and the grip is great on muddy hills. For me, the sizing and fit is good. Sizing can be weird in trainers, I take 6½ or 7 shoe size and need 7½ in Salomon but these are 7, lightweight and look neat. Laces are tradition but nice and long so can easily be double knotted. Work great for me, and recommended

I've been using it for a couple of months. They are great for stability. The goretex keeps me dry. I can walk through puddles or hike in them. They're easy to wipe clean. The toe box is comfortable. They look good on the side. The mesh top isn't visually appealing, but it makes the toe box comfortable. I'm 8.5 and tend to buy 9, but the 8.5 fit me perfectly.

Waterproof and sturdy trail shoes with good grip. I wasn't sure how they would feel to run in as they are quite firm and don't give much when you bend your foot but I tried them out to fun 3k this week and they were very comfortable. Ran through wet grass and didn't get wet socks. Brilliant! Highly recommend, great quality.

I love these! I’ve just tested them out in the rain and my feet stayed dry and warm. Very happy. Comfortable and grip well across all grounds. I would say check your size, I first bought a size 6 (I am a size 6 is Adidas trainers) but had to exchange for a 6&1/2 and they are perfect! Well worth the money.
