"Zombie Army Trilogy" is the spiritual successor to the Sniper Elite series. A third-person action shooter set in an alternate time line where in 1945 with the Russians storming through the streets of Berlin, Adolf Hitler instead of taking his own life invokes "Plan Z", using occult powers to resurrect all of the German war dead - and there are A LOT of war dead!As with the Sniper Elite series, the main character of the story is OSS sniper Karl Fairburne, although there are also seven other playable characters to choose from, including a Red Army Infantryman, Wehrmacht Captain, French resistance fighter, and German Occultist. All characters essentially play the same as each other though,so it's purely a cosmetic choice. Game modes include solo play, co-op play, or horde mode.Controls for the game are broadly similar to those people familiar with sniper Elite will be used to playing with, and the game also has many other features that were common in that series, including X-ray "kill cam", and an inventory system that allows you to choose a primary weapon from a selection of sniper rifles, secondary weapon such as sub-machine gun or shotgun, a pistol, as well as grenades, mines, and TNT.Where the game differs from Sniper Elite is in the manner of play. Rather than concentrating on stealth, patience, and long range killing, Zombie Army is more of a run-and-gun type experience. You will rarely get the drop on your enemies, and most sections of any given level involve you fighting off the slowly encroaching hordes of zombies, using your environment (such as explosive containers) to help cull the crowds, or fortifying defensive positions against an assault. This is both the games greatest strength and greatest weakness. It's a strength because it replaces the slow-burn, stealth heavy experience of Sniper Elite with a much more accessible shoot-em-up style of game that rarely gives you a moment to breath and in which you never quite feel you've got enough ammo to finish the job, but a weakness because it makes the traditional sniper aspect of the game a little inconvenient and difficult to use as combat is generally conducted over much shorter distances, against enemies that rarely stand still, and against such numbers that you rarely have enough time to pull off more than a couple of long range head shots before you have to resort to your secondary weapon for some close combat. It is however a pretty tense affair. You crawl through the darkened ruins of Berlin, destroyed German and Allied vehicles scattered around and the ground littered with the bodies of the dead, the screams of the few living souls that remain ringing out from the distance, and the howls of the undead never far away. It's got a pretty neat soundtrack too that helps ramp up the atmosphere and reminds me of something from a Romero zombie movie.Enemies come in a variety of forms. The basic zombie - usually armed with little more than a simple club or entrenching tool - is easy enough to kill, and even in large numbers can be outmanoeuvred. Head shots work the best of course, but in order to not make it a too restrictive playing experience, sufficient application of fire power to any part of the zombie will destroy it.Other zombie types include the "suicide zombie" that charges at you at full speed before detonating its bundles of dynamite and are much more difficult to deal with, skeletons (both armoured and unarmoured versions) that unlike the traditional zombie require a hit to the chest rather than the head to dispose of, zombie snipers who are one of the few enemies that use weapons and can also leap from vantage point to vantage point to escape return fire, demons, occultists, and elite zombies toting a massing MG42 machine gun and capable of soaking up massive amounts of damage. This is an older game now - the first game being initially released as a DLC for Sniper Elite V2 in 2013 - and remastered in this trilogy back in 2015. Whilst it does admittedly look a little basic by current standards (I'm writing this in 2020), it's good enough that it stands the test of time and it's looks don't detract from the quality of the overall game play, which is a somewhat simple but excitingly high-octane experience that makes Zombie Army Trilogy well worth the modest amount it costs to pick up!

15 campaign missions of total carnage as you endlessly blast nazis zombies in the face using your sniper rifle or mow them down using a machine gun, whether you play on your own or with friends you will have a blast but playing with a team transforms the game into one of the most fun shoot-em-up games of the last year. The roots of this game are evidently founded in sniper elite 3 and they've milked that link to the N'th degree. Playing in solo mode you are treated to the well know and coveted "X-Ray kill cam" where if you shoot an enemy in one of several places including the head, testicles or heart then you get a slow motion X-ray kill cam of that shot, the killcam only works when you use a sniper though and when playing in solo mode. The game operates a 4 player drop in co-op system so you won't need to restart if a friend comes online and you both get trophies as you play along, sadly you loose the X-ray kills when a friend joins the game. Now while the graphics look good overall especially the later missions, it's only fair to say that some of the missions look their age, not forgetting that this trilogy has missions in it from the original PC game which is years old. There are different types of zombie too, including some that wield chainsaws and others which are heavily armoured. Some move quickly and others are slow and predictable, my one piece of advise is don't whatever you do get boxed into a corner, always have a contingency plan or way out because believe me the numbers of zombies onscreen can be very intimidating if you allow them to get close. The later missions which are completely new are the best, with you having the ability to kill Hitler himself and I would argue the game becomes more immersive as you progress. There's lots to collect on your way through the game and ensure you pick up every pack of ammo you come across as ammo can become scarce. There are a few negative points although nothing major as far as I can see, Close range combat is woefully pathetic just like it is in sniper elite 3, remember this game was designed for medium-long range combat, if they get too close to you then you've pretty much left it too late. Secondly, some of the checkpoints are in the wrong locations, rather than putting a checkpoint before a section it should be afterwards otherwise if you die the game forces you to replay the last 15 minutes over again. Lastly, the combat while being incredibly fun in co-op mode is highly repetitive, now while I love these type of sniping games and indeed the thought of shooting nazis is my idea of ultimate weekend fun, I wish they could have added a few different sections, maybe some stealth or puzzle sections rather than the constant shooting. The fact there is no multiplayer section doesn't impact on the game whatsoever and indeed you don't really miss it.Verdict: a great shoot-em-up experience consisting of the two original PC games which have been remastered and added to the new missions to provide a 15 mission mouthwatering campaign. For sniper elite fans this is a must especially if you intend to play with a friend, best of all the price is spot on for what it is and because it doesn't take itself too seriously you'll have a blast along the way. RECOMMENDED!

Zombie Army Trilogy PS4I have never played the Nazi Zombie Army series for the PC nor have I really played the Sniper Elite series which it is based upon. So this was my first dip in to the franchise.I know Sniper Elite focuses a lot of stealth and tactical game play, which, being a sniper game is what you'd expect. Zombie Army on the other hand requires little based on stealth and lets you go hell bent on killing as many zombies as you can set your eyes on.The game play is similar to that of COD Zombies were you have to survive various waves or hordes of zombie onslaught. The zombies come in all wonderful forms to the annoying hard to kill 'Super Elite'zombies which are frustrating hard to kill at times.Surprisingly the game doesn't feel repetitive despite the fact that for the entire duration you will pretty much find yourself doing the exact same thing to fend off each wave. There are nice little additions in the forms of explosives such as grenades, trip mines, land mines, dynamite and various explosive tanks placed around the map.Co-op mode is great for playing against either the campaign mode or horde mode with friends, but will require communication and strategic play as zombies spawn from all areas of the map. It's nice to see a game that doesn't take itself too seriously, and is essentially exactly what it says on the tin. The music, sound effects, animations and scenery all capture the feel of a grim war torn zombie apocalypse and it's very solid. The music has a retro type 80's feel to it at times and is reminiscent of the low budget exploitation movies around.I have just per-ordered Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition based on my enjoyment of this game so far.Zombie Army also supports full stereoscopic 3D.All in all for £25 there is plenty of fun to be had here!

I havent had this much fun on a game in what feels like forever. With Z.A.T theres no 'oh look at me, i have mahoosive amounts of HDR bloom lighting, so much so that we spent most of the dev time on it and not on making a fun title' or 'hey, who cares about entertainment when you've got serious emotional decisions to make, , drastically altering which path you take down this identical but mulit pathed corridor'Lol but seriously, put the game in, team up in 4 player co op on either horde or campaign, and smash in thousands of nazi zombie skulls as you grin from ear to ear while you work towards the final kill, nazi zombie hitler himself. The game has no qualms about throwing what seams like hundreds of enemies at you in one go (it has a great feature of allowing you to change the spawn option, going against 4 players worth of spawning enemies on your own is amazeballs) and there's some epic 'last stand' type of defence moments throughout the campain. One horde map is lliterally just an alleyway, that's it, as streams of undead meatbags come towards you, sounds lame, in truth its brilliant. The audio is great, head popping sounds nice and juicy, the music sounds like its been lifted straight from an 80's B movie and the visuals are more than good enough. Can we post links? For me Sniper Elite v3 was the best next gen game of 2014, and this, by the same development studio is a superb spin-off to the franchise. There's no denying it borrows from games of old - most notably Treyarch's Zombies series from Call Of Duty, the Resident Evil games of old (particularly 1 & 4) and even a nod to the original Medal Of Honor with the "ping" you get from shooting the tin helmets!Graphics, atmospherics and sound are excellent, as is the now well-established killcam to re-live that satisfying shot. The game can be played solo or multiplayer (online only, no local facility), but I personally think that the solo experience is more intense as you don't feel quite so safe knowing that you alone have to deal with anything that gets thrown at you - and, boy, it does! Bosses range from gun toting giants, chainsaw wielding maniacs, suicide bombers that just run at you and then detonate, "summoners" that spawn extra enemies until they are killed with a well timed headshot, zombies snipers, and more! The difficulty level can be very challenging at times, and fairly easy at others - not always logically so either - some end of level fights are relatively simple and some mid-level foes are mighty!Personally, I love it and it's my favourite PS4 game of 2015 so far by some margin.Just buy it!

Have to admit to really liking this game. Wasn't sure what to expect as it's been described by some as a wave shooter (having never played one), but I'd describe it as a 3rd person shooter really, having to navigate through levels from A to B completing objectives along the way.The graphics are by no means the best on the PS4, but not bad, and helped by atmospheric lighting on many levels. The zombies are pretty cool too and stagger/move in quite an entertaining way. Shooting arms and legs off is good fun and the headshot bullet cam is a great addition. For some reason skeletons are also scattered amongst the zombies occasionally. I think they look a bit out of place and don't know why they decided to put them in.Fortunately they're dispatched quickly and it's back to the zombie mayhem. True, it's mainly the same zombies throughout the whole game, but the addition of boss zombies with their own abilities and way of being killed keeps things fresh enough I think. Saying that I only played a couple hours at a time and I can see how it could become tiresome if you tried to play for more extended periods. So overall a great game for me and essential training for the real zombie apocalypse when it happens ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed the world at war zombie game where you made a stand against zombies in the ww2 bunker and eventually get over run and you could never win ? I often use to think wouldnt it be great if you could venture outside into the mist and woods etc or you held them off untill you finally had re-enforcements arrive by say parachute and then progress outside. The call of duty series went on to all different kinds of zombie modes but i found them too cartoonish and silly,oh how long i waited in vain for someone to bring us a real zombie slaying fest outside of that dam bunker !!When i first heard about zombie army trilogy i prayed and prayed it would be a zombie game i have dreamt of for years and i wasnt dissapointed. At last i cried out, almost in triumph. You can read other reviews about the gameplay etc, This game is awesome simple to play puts just the right amount of pressure on the player and is enormous fun !! Absolutely brilliant gamers love shooting zombies and always will, keep it like this and the game will always fly off the shelves !! Please make a zombie army 4.

I Loved this game and the fact that its comes from and uses the same Targeting/Sniper system as the Sniper Elite games makes it even better as those games are favourites of mine too, there's a wonderful feeling of satisfaction, when after countless attempts at shooting a Big,mean Bad Guy or trying to snipe One of those far off Flying Nazi snipers, that when the shot finally lines up,that it suddenly switches to the bullets point of view and You watch it "X-Ray Style" rip through Flesh and Bone then take out a vital organ. The only problem and this is a large glitch in a game like this, sometimes when you are peeking over the edge of a building or lining up a shot from round a corner,You are suddenlymet with Detection clash. In other words even though you seem to have a clear shot ahead of you,you have to move away from Your hiding spot an inch or Two or You hit nothing. This did not over all spoil the game for Me in any way as it happens few and far between and over all You have a Brilliant game that uses a lot of the scenes from past Sniper Elite Games.

As soon as I started the first mission, I fell in love with this game. It's simplistic, but incredibly fun to play. I'm also surprised by how atmospheric it can be. Playing alone, wandering through an abandoned village consumed by a thick fog, then suddenly being swarmed by the undead is genuinely exhilarating. The gore and bullet cam make pulling off a tricky shot incredibly satisfying, and although the entire campaign follows the same formula of shoot your way from one place to another, the game is nonetheless an enjoyable action horror flick.Horde mode is also great. Genuinely requires teamwork - you need to have your buddy's back covered.Overall, this visually impressive rough diamond has the charm of the classic B-Horror movies. There's little plot to get your head around, but the sheer fun to be had playing it makes this game an absolute treat to experience. One last thing - almost every trophy in this game is a quote from a zombie or horror film. Features quotes from Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, Evil Dead and many more classics.

This is Sniper Elite with Zombies. Same character from Sniper Elite Same in game theme music same engine. Is it a disapointment? Absolutely not. I am a lover of Sniper Elite and this is actualy BETTER. You have those same satisfaction CSI momments as you watch your bullet go to slow mo and the enemy transforming to xray as your bullet crashes through his skull or organs. Oh and did I mention all your enemies are Zombies? Its a killfest funfest of undead proportions plane and simple. I love it. What amazes me is it seems to have sliped through the notice net through pure lack of advertisement while rubbish games have been painted bright pretty colours and shoved in peoples faces. If you need to check our any games worth playing then don't make the mistake of passing this by. If you like Snipers Elite and you like Zombies you can't loose with this title. Oh its also up to four player co op bwahahahaha. Win win

Although a semi fan of zombie genre games I love this game, something new and exciting to playVery arcady, hellishly cool with the level of details graphically, vocal yet comically it's also amazingly gorycreepy and created by masters of Sniper Elite III.The zombie sound effects are just as much clearer and mastered the way it should be!My favorite has to be the music, it's absolutely awesome something i've been dying to hear within a video game very atmospheric 70s/80s & 90s very tempting to listen too, it pumps you up in the mood to survive and challenge the horrors ahead of you.As said above i wouldn't say this is my favorite game of 2015 but it's second to Sniper Elite III UE.So if you enjoy zombie games, endless fun blasting nazi zombies left, right, back and forth then this is the game that should blast you out of your misery as it did myself and i'm sure many others.

Il not waste too many words on this guys review. He stated the lack of sneaking like in sniper elite and this game is just a run around shooter. It's ZOMBIES. It's a thrill ride of a game. Hordes of nazi zombies coming at you. You can choose to zoom through a scope pick out perfect shots (X-ray killcam) is always fun, or click the right stick in and use it as a powerful close quarter rifle. Or whip out your shotgun and blast some heads. I personally love the webly pistol. One shot kill when these flesh lovers get too close. If you love zombie games, WWII style weapons etc then get this game. It's thee best zombie experience to date. Call of duty need to look at this! This is what zombies is.Not zombies with Exo suits.
