This game is in my top 10 games of all time. It's super easy to play and always fun and hilarious. The aim of the game is to have a set of cards in front of you that match a card showing the criteria for a victory. There are various types of card in the game as follows:1. Keeper cardsThese cards help you win the game. Keeper cards show an image on them (could be a cup of coffee for example). You lay them in front of you.2. Goal CardsThe goal card shows you how to win the game. So for example a Goal card may say 'You win the game if you have the cup and ball keeper cards on the table in front of you. If at any point in the game you satisfy that rule, you win. To play a goal card, you simply put it down on your turn (if the current rules say you can!) and it replaces any existing goal card that is already on the table. So therefore the rules to win the game can change at any time.3. CreepersCreepers are like Keeper cards but they are bad and punish you in some way. They can even stop you winning the game if you satisfy the current goal card condition but have a creeper card. However, there are rules and card actions that enable you to either win with creepers, or to discard them, or even shove them onto someone else.4. Action CardsThese cards create a one-time action and are played straight to the discard pile. They do things like let you draw extra cards and play them immediately.5. Rule change cardsThese cards really make the game unpredictable and fun. You can play a new rule card from your hand down onto the table and the new rule takes effect immediately. If there is a similar rule on the table already it replaces that rule, but if it is a new rule it sits there as an addition to the other rules. An example could be that you play a 'draw 4 cards' rule. So from now on you would use that rule. If then someone on their turn then plays a 'play all your cards rule' onto the table, you will need to draw 4 cards at the start of your turn, and then play them all the cards you have in your whilst taking your turn. Rules stack up as the game goes on creating mayhem and much laughter. The rules and goals to win the game keep changing as players play cards down onto the table, so the game is in constant flux (hence the name of the game). It can make your brain melt when endless rules get played out, but it adds to the fun.The game by definition is chaotically random, but Fluxx is a quick game (maybe 1 min-20mins) and the sort of game you always end up playing more than once at any 1 setting so it doesn’t really matter.A great game to take with you to a cafe as people sitting around you always ask what you are playing and then want to join in! Older Kids will love this game as much as adults and it is great to play on a Sunday afternoon with the family. The card stock is pretty good - not linen, but thick and they play well. The only down-side the game is the basic and uninspiring artwork, but that can be overlooked because the game is so much fun.I also have the Zombie Fluxx game which adds Zombie cards and a few new rules but keeps the game structure tight.

This review is based on Monty Python Fluxx.Oh, you don't know what Fluxx games are? The basic Fluxx rules (these stand for all versions of Fluxx) are simple: each player is dealt three cards, then each turn a player draws another card from the deck and then plays a card down. How do you win? Urm, well, that's less easily answered... There are five types of cards, Creepers (generally bad, but sometimes you need them to win), Goals (these tell how you can win; you have to play one before anyone can win, oh, and there might even be an Anti-Goal, which means the game wins...), Keepers (these help you to reach a goal), Actions (things that you can do on your turn) and New Rules. The New Rules are the essence of the Fluxx games; as a game progresses players get to place down new rules, or even to remove them. As such the combination of rules in play at any one time can be wildly different from what they were a couple of minutes ago, or in a couple of minutes time. This might sound like it can get confusing, but it is generally quite easy to follow and all of the main rules are written on the cards which are played. Games take anything from a couple of minutes to half an hour or so. Two players can have fun, but the game tends to be more enjoyable with about four players. The Fluxx games are easily transported, taking up little more space than two standard packs of playing cards side by side, but do require a reasonable amount of table space, a 4'(1.2m) square table being ideal for four players. If you own more than one of the Fluxx games you can even mix them together. The beauty is that once you know how to play one Fluxx game you can get stuck right in with any of the others. As to be expected, the Monty Python version of Fluxx ties in with the Monty Python world. Expect to come across the Foot, The Finger of God, and a Resting Parrot in your search for the Holy Grail. Both King Arthur and Excalibur may help you to win, but watch out for The Grim Reaper, The Spanish Inquisition and the fluffy bunny (AKA the Killer Rabbit).Knowing a bit about the Python world, such as being able to 'sing' a couple of bars of a Python song (hey, I'm a realist, I know that we can't all sing, well...), or being able to quote a few lines from any sketch or film will help but they're not essential to having fun with Monty Python Fluxx. (And there's no shortage of quotes online, if you don't have time to watch the films or programmes.)On the whole, a quite enjoyable game to fill a spare bit of time. Having played Monty Python Fluxx, Martian Fluxx and Zombie Fluxx my personal preference is Zombie Fluxx but I do rate Monty Python Fluxx equal to Martian Fluxx. So second equal and for that reason alone I am limited to giving it just four stars; this is really a 4.5 star game only held back by another version which is just slightly more appropriate for a wider audience (if you don't know anything about the Python world and are a little bit partial to the odd Zombie...).

This review is based on Zombie Fluxx.Zombie Fluxx is one of the series of Fluxx card games. Of the three Fluxx games that I have played, Zombie, Monty Python and Martian, I have enjoyed Zombie the most. I'm not sure what it is about the combination of the cards and rules, but I have definitely enjoyed Zombie Fluxx much more than the others.Oh, you don't know what Fluxx games are? You can do this by collecting essential items, like the Sandwich, Coffee and a Doughnut, or by escaping in the Car (you might need the Fuel Can). Along the way you might want to get hold of the Chainsaw or Shotgun, to try and get rid of any Zombies that have attached themselves to you. If all else fails and you've got a dozen Zombies that you just can't get rid of, get hold of the Baseball Bat and form a Zombie Baseball Team to win!

Positives1. Flexible number of players.2. Games are a mixture of skill and chance which is fun.3. If you like Dr Who the references are amusing.4. As each individual game doesn't last ages it is a lot better for playing on days such as Christmas/ New Year. People can take part in a game, go do something else then join back in for the next one. It created a nice fluidity of taking part and being able to cook/ meet new guests etc.5. It's a little box of cards so very portable.Negatives1. It is quite a steep learning curve. I already had Fluxx 4.0 so knew how the rules/goals changed as played. The younger people (aged 14-35) picked it up faster but those over 50 found it a bit of a struggle. We stayed with it and people enjoyed it though it took a while for some folk. I would recommend teaching people to play when they are not tired!2. The length of games varies quite a bit. Not a problem for me but harder to judge times.3. Once you have played one fluxx, you have to a large extent played them all. There are slight variations but I wouldn't recommend running out to buy other versions if you already have one.4. You have to be able to accept that people make mistakes! I have played with people who are really strict to the rules. That isn't going to work for fluxx as the rules keep changing and keeping track of everything is a big challenge, especially for new players. The rule sticklers I have introduced this to argued before they started but dropped that after one game. This game is more about taking part than winning. If you stop each game whenever someone makes a mistake you will rarely get to the end.Overall, I really like Fluxx. This version was bought as a gift and enjoyed.

For any player who has played fluxx before you will not be dissapointed to this new game. It has all the hilarity of the other fluxx games, but it also comes with a new add on which really does display its self on a pedistal; yes, I am talking about the new atachable creepers. The new style of creeper (which I will expect to be in the next fluxx games) really makes winning a lot more difficult. It adds a new dimension which will be hard to replace. This game also comes with the surprise cards which originate from pirate fluxx (read my review on that). the surprises add more control over the game. This card game just about manages to step over the copy-rights of star wars, star trek, hitchikers guide and many other space related franchises, but it still manages to keep them in. for example you can have the 2 keepers: Time traveler and the doctor. these to alone are not sciency, but put them together and you have the goal 'what doctor? wher' (a clever re-word of doctor who!) another funny part is the intergalactic travel guide which has 'stay calm' on it rather than 'don't panic'.I really would recomend this game, the game time is from 20 secs (I actually finished a game that quickly) to 3 hours (that was a labourious game). It is a family game which is perfect. but it does take a few games to get used to it!

You really get two games when you buy this, normal FLUX and then the enhance Zombie FLUX which add new rules and new mayhem to the already chaotic and fun FluXX.The basic game is really easy to pick up and fun to play. It has some strategy but also feels free flowing and a little random if you do not have a plan. The great thing about Fluxx is that anyone can change the game at any moment and that changes the pace, the stakes and the amount of tension. Normal games of Fluxx last for about 30 minutes on average. I've only played with a maximum of four other people and we usually play three rounds before we move onto a more serious game.Zombie Fluxx initially feels a few factors more complicatedthan normal Fluxx and it totally changes the strategy so it may feel a bit daunting for new players. However once you're in the swing of things it is just as fun and sometimes more fun than the vanilla version. Games last a bit longer on average and expect the first game played to take much longer due to the learning curve. Both versions are great party games or family time wasters. I play with a group of adults (23-32) and we all love it.If you buy and enjoy this game then i would recommend Evil Baby Nursery too, another great card game.

Fluxx is a game that is, at first, daunting for new players; The rules change constantly, the win-conditions are modified throughout the game, your keepers will get stolen, transferred, or discarded by other players, but most quickly take to the ever fluctuating rules of the game with enthusiasm.Star Fluxx introduces creepers which to me over-complicate the Keeper process, but they add a nice variant to a game that is constantly adapting. There are some ambiguities in the cards; some action cards and surprise cards aren't as clear as they should be, and for some rules it's not clear if they contradict other rules (and thereby replace them) or are simply additional rules, but when you encounter these,a brief discussion and agreement between players can easily resolve.A play session can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on luck of the cards, and the experience of those playing with the cards. When played with new players, winning is often a matter of luck, rather than strategy, but this adds to the random nature of the game.Well worth playing, though I would start with one of the other versions of fluxx (Batman, standard Fluxx) without the creepers if this is your first foray into the Fluxx World.

You draw a card, play a card and the card you play can change the rules, and goal of the game. That's the simple explanation. This is a Marmite game that people seem to love or hate in equal measure. I would tend to be the former, but it does depend on getting the right group playing. It can easily become demoralising if one of the group is losing the will to live in a game. The game can take 5 minutes, or 20 minutes and can turn on a sixpence. Its possible to use tactics to a point, but the ever changing rules and goals really make the game deceptively random.I think critics are unfair when the slate the game, as the mechanics are clever and complex, while playing simply. The confusion is on purpose and is free flowing, which highlights how well the designers did when trying to get this effect. The zombie artwork is ok. I would have preferred a little more depth with the references, as I guess the target audience will be zombie fans as there are plenty of versions of Fluxx to choose from, depending on your own personal obsession. Servicable as a theme though, and particuarly the creeper cards fit into this well.About as 7/10 as you can get in my book.

A neat space themed edition of Fluxx with addaded twists over basic FluxxGameplay quick summery:As play moves through players will place cards from their hand and it is these cards that form the rules and end game winning conditions hence the game is in a constant state of FluxPros:- Cheap- Super portable- Space theme with some nice nods to classic space geekness- Expands on normal Fluxx with new card types Creepers and SurpriseCons:- The random nature of Fluxx can be a frustration to newer / younger players at times although Suprise cards do add a bit more player influence to the gameOverall:We really like Fluxx as a game series and I tend to play this version with more regular gamers and introduce the newer /younger player to normal Fluxx to start with but this is still a simple game for new players to grasp. I find the game is best with 3 or 4 although it will sit 2 -6 players gameplay is super simple everyone starts with 3 cards and the only rule at the beginning is draw one card from the deck and play one card then as you play the rules will change depending on the cards played.

Well. What a Very Silly Game.Reminds me of the rather dubious cards games at University - where the 8 switched directions and the Black Jack made you pick up 14, and the 5 could be anything you wanted... best played after a number of Pints Of Beer (or alternative intoxicants) (Wine, of course! You silly thing)Fluxx (in this version - based on Monty Python) has the rules in the cards. Each card changes the game, changes the winning option, or just causes Havoc. This concept DOES NOT HELP if you have taken the previous intoxicant advice. So don't ... except it is probably now TOO LATE!Brilliant - we laughed until we had to stop laughing, or suffer the consequences. Some of the party immediately had to buy the Pirates version, and another admitted that they already had the original Fluxx (which is apparently not as good as this version as it didn't have the Creepers in).Dead parrots, the Knights who say "Ni", the Killer Rabbit, Sir Robin, and pretty much everything else you can remember from the shows or the films are kidnapped and pressed into service as part of the game.

I have played both Pirate Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx before, and decided to get this version for my brother, an aficionado of sci-fi, for Christmas. We opened it on the day, it was one of the few games we played that day around family responsibilities (Star Trek Catan, Pandemic, Coup and 7 Wonders got pushed to the side). This is without a doubt my favourite version. The games seem to have a much faster pace, and there is a lot of variety in the Keepers and Creepers. For those who haven't played Fluxx before, you play cards in turn depending on the rules played previously. At the beginning, you draw one card from the deck and play one card from your hand. But later, someone might play a 'Play All'card, which means everyone has to play everything in their hand every turn. The victory conditions fluctuate as much as the rules do, it becomes a very fun, very easy to learn game, that can take anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour.I would strongly recommend this to any newcomers to Fluxx.

If you've got Fluxx this isn't much different, it does include creepers which were new in later versions. This mainly focuses on the Holy Grail film however does have some cards relating to their other famous sketches, a certain resting parrot makes an appearance. This game is probably best suited to Monty Python fans as there are quite a few in jokes which a few non-python fans were perplexed by.I think my favourite card is the goal "The Cheese Shop" which means you win if you have absolutely no cards but there's also "My Brain Hurts" which allows you to discard rules until your brain stops hurting and many more.If you own a recent version of Fluxx is only worth getting this if you love Monty Python,if you don't own Fluxx you should definitely consider buying some version of it. It's a great fun game, with very simple mechanics that anyone can win.

I picked this up on a whim after spotting it in a shop someplace and after one game with friends it paid for itself in fun value. The rules are quick to pick up, and as a bonus every active rule is always on display in the middle of the table so you can't forget them. It's very cleverly designed with the added challenege of keeping up with rule changes and goal changes keeping things interesting. And it's Python themed! This meant there was much singing, joking, quoting and laughing (it helped we were all Python fans of course). My only complaint is that most of the cards appear to be taken from the holy grail with much fewer coming from the main show and the other films.Which is a shame really as "The Life of Brian" could have added so many hilarious cards to the pack.If you like card games and Monty Python this game is a must.

As someone new to playing card games I thought I'd give this a try as it seemed fairly straightforward and fun. It doesn't disappoint. Games can last anything from 10 - 15 minutes to half an hour or more depending on what rule changes you decide to play. Although, I will admit there are some cards that seem to have fairly ambiguous wording that left us to make decisions on how they should be played ourselves, but it didn't take away from the fun. While I can see how this would be far more entertaining with a few more players, it works great with just the two of us and I can see it being the kind of thing that would pop into a travel bag (for when we can do things like that again) to play on the go.However, it does benefit from a decent amount of table space.

like Calvin Ball but with cards. The original version would be fine But THE DOCTOR WHO version is awesome! You have keeper cards = doctors and companions. 12 doctors + future doctor. Sarah Jane, K9, Rose through Clara.Creepers = daleks, weeping angels, cybermen, the Master (original guy with dastardly mustache and goatee).Goals that anyone can lay down changing how you win (gather certain cards).Rule cards that anyone can lay down, add to, and even delete.Action and surprise cards that can undo or change things even if it isn't your turn. Even stop someone in the middle of winning! It is the most doctor who game I've ever played. Nothing stays the same for very long and you have to stay on your toes.Basically don't blink and run! .
