This review includes the expansion kit, Zombie Dice 2 Double Feature. Basically Zombie Dice is a push your luck dice game consisting of 13 dice. Each dice is printed with a shotgun blast (your victims shot you), footprints (the cowards ran away) and a brain (yum, yum, lunch!) The idea is to get as many brains as you can whilst avoiding being shot. If you get a footprint, and if you haven't accumulated 3 shotguns (meaning you are dead, thus game over) you have the option of rolling again. You throw a maximum of three dice per go, meaning if you have 1 footprint, you select 2 more dice. There are 3 colours of dice in the main game - green = easy, yellow = even chance and red = very difficult,as thus one has more shotgun blasts on it. On to Zombie Dice 2 double feature, which as it is well documented, I have very little to add. This expansion pack (you do need the main game to play it with) contains 3 new dice, and it's not cheap. I got my ZD2 today and it cost me £7.49 (for 3 dice and a set of instructions!) It gives you 3 new ways to play, in the guise of movies. My favourite is probably Santa Clause meets the Zombies, in which Santa has a shotgun, and he can run away and you can also eat his brain. He also has gifts though - an energy drink (you automatically catch runners and eat their brains), a helmet (it takes 4 shotgun blasts to kill you instead of 3) and two brains (I thought Santa was supposed to be a good guy!) The two other "movies" involve a Hunk and a Hottie (the hunk is tricky as as well as shotgun blast icons, he also has 1 double shotgun icon on his dice) If you eat the hottie's brain and later roll a shotgun for the hunk, he rescues her, and vice versa. The final movie is called Direct-to-video sequel (which is a bit outdated for 2013) and involves Santa Claus, the Hunk and the Hottie. To be honest, I've had the main game since last year, played it and it then got stuck in my cupboard. I'd forgotten how fun it was to play. ZD2 makes it more fun, but you need to weigh the product against the price, as you don't really need it to enjoy the main game. The only big problem I have with the game, is it comes in a cardboard tube. You have to shake the dice in the tube and it says pick 3 random dice. Shake the tube too much, the bottom comes off and scatters the dice everywhere. A child would be able to fit their hand inside the tube to pick 3 randomly, but alas my hands are too big. There is a bag which it states makes it easier, but they charge extra for it! Had the bag come with the game, instead of the tube, I think it would have been just that bit better.

I can only really add to the steady stream of praise already directed towards this game. For what it is, it’s brilliant.I’ve often seem Zombie Dice referred to as a ‘Gateway’ game - an introduction to the wider world of Tabletop gaming – and I’ve found that to be true. I’m a long-lapsed Tabletop and RPG gamer, and have recently been looking at getting back into the hobby. I’ve been circling games like Zombicide, King of Tokyo and Pandemic, all of which are many factors more complicated and strategic than Zombie Dice; but they’re also quite expensive and intimidating for newcomers. Zombie Dice is neither of these things, and all the better for it.This version of the game consists of 13 dice,a rule sheet, and a cardboard tube which can be used for storage and play. Thematically the game’s pretty simple. Players take on the role of Zombies while the dice represent Survivors (whose brains you naturally want to eat!). Turns, dice rolls, and a ‘Push Your Luck’ game mechanic (think Blackjack, kinda) let the scenario play out in roughly 10 minutes per game. Competitive play requires a minimum of 2 players but I can’t see there being any upper limit, and if you wanted to play solo it’s not impossible – trying to get 13 brains in one turn would be a lonely task but something of an achievement! The real strength of Zombie Dice is how easy it is to pick up and play. I’d consider myself fairly geekily-minded and was able to learn how to play in 5 minutes or so, but my girlfriend (who’s decidedly non-geeky) picked it up just as quickly…and proceeded to beat me on our first 2 games >_> Once the basics are learned, you start seeing a slightly deeper element of strategy to the game as well; identifying how many of the easy, medium and hard dice are left in play when you decide to re-roll. It’s a minor but important element of the game which does add a layer of tactical thought to your Turn, and as such it’s a clever and welcome inclusion by Zombie Dice’s designers. All of the above and the game’s £10(ish) price tag should mean that you feel pleased with your purchase, and might well leave you tempted to dip your toe deeper delve into the Tabletop gaming waters. For myself, it seems like moving up to King of Tokyo wouldn’t be too much of a stretch...and I might now be able to persuade my girlfriend to try a few rounds of that too! A brilliant little game that deserves every kind word said about it, you don’t need to be overloaded with brrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaiiiinnns to see this as a sound investment!

As you've probably noticed there are loads of reviews for Zombie Dice already so I'll try to give you my thoughts on this game as briefly as possible. What we have here is an extremely quick and easy dice based filler game for 2+ players with a strong "push your luck" mechanic. The object of the game is to be the first player (or zombie) to eat 13 brains by rolling the dice (or victims) and collecting as many brains as possible without getting shot and killed. When to stop rolling and cut your losses before passing to the next player is up to you.So as you may have guessed the main components of this game are the dice and I'm glad to say that all 13 are excellent quality (6 green,4 yellow and 3 red all representing varying degrees of difficulty), also the plastic container is solid which is good because you'll constantly be shaking it and shoving your hand in to draw more dice. The positives;1. Zombie Dice plays very quickly and the rules are simple and to the point.2. The components are basic but very well produced, the size is perfect aswell and will fit easily in a bag or pocket.3. Zombie Dice is the definition of a good filler game, because of its fast pace and easy rules you'll be able to play a couple of games in just a few minutes and it will get the players talking and laughing before getting stuck into the next main game. The negatives;1. The zombie theme is good but feels very pasted on - this game could literally have any theme and play exactly the same. Shame on you Steve Jackson for jumping on the zombie bandwagon just for the sake of it.So overall I would recommend Zombie Dice if you want a fun and fast filler game with good replay value and at a reasonable price too.

This game is both simple to play and quick to set up. It's ready to play from the box but counters or paper and a pencil can be helpful for keeping score. The objective is to be the first player to eat 13 brains without getting shot. The catch is that you must always roll three dice per "roll" with various weighting of risk and reward. Dice feature three different graphics representing brains - the objective, footprints - victim ran away and the die can be rolled again for a different result (as part of the three dice rule), shotgun blast - three hits and your turn is over. Brains and shotgun blasts are set at the side of your play area for your turn. Green dice are easy prey, yellow are intermediate and red dice represent tough opponents. Brains scored prior to gaining three shotgun blasts can be banked and play passed to another player, if you get three or more shotgun blasts in your turn then you don't get to bank any brains for that round.Typically a game lasts 5 - 10 minutes when played with three or four players and can be played with any number upwards of two people. The packaging is a similar size to a can of soft drink so is easily portable but players with bigger hands may want to use a cloth bag for drawing dice as it's rather a tight fit to draw three dice blindly from the tube.I often play this at the pub before and/or after a main Munchkin session with a regular crowd and is quite a popular choice. As a quick, easy to play distraction for 15 minutes or so it's ideal but can become tiresome if played for more than a few games back to back.

This is a fantastic, fast paced dice game for all family members and friends alike. The game consists of 13 dice in three different colours, green (easy), yellow (moderate), red (tough). You roll three at a time and try to get as many brains as possible (represented as brains on the dice) you have three lives each time and if a 'victims' (the three dice you roll) manages to shoot you (represented by a blast) three times your turn is over and any brains you have managed to collect that turn are lost. Of you manage to roll feet (footsteps on dice) these are classed as runner and have to be rolled again if you chose to continue rolling for more brains.First person to 13 wins. The rules within the box/tube are a little more in depth but simple enough to pick up with just a few goes. The play/storage tub the dice come in is well made and takes up very little room when stored away. My only gripe and is is a very small one is that I find it hard to get my hand into the tub to get it my three random dice. I solved this by using a dice bag (I have loads dotted around the house and if you don't have one to hand they are very cheap to purchase) also I would advise glueing one of the ends of the storage/play tube down as they become lose with more usage and can slip of easily during play. All in all this is a great, quick to play game, the rules are simple and everyone can enjoy it it costs very little and was on my doorstep within days of ordering (which is always a nice little bonus) well worth a go.

This might not seem like much for the price because it's basically a container with 13 dice. But trust me, as a life long gamer, you'll play this often and will never look back. It's not a long game and a great filler in between big games. It can be quite intense as well. The size is easy enough to travel with and definitely a game you should carry with you if you are hanging around game players. You're looking to score 13 points before anyone else by pulling out 3 random dice and trying to score brains. After a roll, you can bank you brains, or take another turn, but you always roll 3 dice so you'd put brains to one side, reroll the feet, but also put the shotgun hits to one side as well..3 of those and you lose any points you could have banked this turn. There are green, yellow and red coloured dice, green has 3 brains on it, yellow 2 and red one. The shotgun hits you're trying to avoid, well the red having 3 on it, you're closer to losing your points. So obviously, you don't want to pull red dice as there's a huge risk of rolling what you don't want.I am one of two people in my circle that have gotten all 13 points on the first turn. A very very proud thing to do, but VERY difficult. You have to hold your nerve and not cavein to banking. It can be quite intense.Highly recommended. The only problems I have with it is the cylinder box. Finding a place for it on the game shelf is a nightmare. Also, if it came with a dice bag, that would be great, especially for this price.

Zombie Dice is a wonderful little game where you are a zombie trying to eat as many brains as possible without getting your head blown off by those pesky survivors. You randomly take 3 dice out of the cup and try to roll brains, rerolling any runners and trying to avoid getting shot. You keep any brains and shots rolled. You can continue randomly picking up to 3 dice to keep rolling (pushing your luck at time when all you have left are red dice that mean it is far more likely you will get shot) or stop picking more dice and your turn at any point and mark down how many brains you ate.The game is fast to play and if often over in 5 minutes so it is a great filler to play between games or at the end of a gaming night,or you can just keep having as many games as you like. The game has a fairly low target number of brains to eat before the game ends so we usually increase that to have longer games, but the design and rules are so elegantly simple it is a work of genius.Easily one of my favourite games.

Such a simple yet fun dice game. Quick to play, easy to learn but always with enough interest to keep it fun. You have a cup of dice, take three (without look) roll with the hope of getting'good side up. Simple. But the fun comes with deciding if you stick and keep the points or roll again for more but risk losing all your points that turn. Like the hare and tortoise, do you build your score slowly or be a bit greedy and gamble on a few more. The fact that the bad sides are gun shots to kill you and the good sides are the opportunity for you as a zombie to eat human brains just rounds off the game's humourous and silly side and of course helps tease the teens off their mobiles for some real people interaction.Sure it's aimed at adults and older children and the principal would work just the same with bunnies eating lettuce and a farmer with a net but but who doesn't like some nice clean Zombie fun every now and then. We all loved it, totally recommended.

Thirteen brains in fact, that's the objective of the game. The first to reach an accumulated score of thirteen brains wins the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple each player takes turns drawing three dice from a cup of thirteen. These are then rolled giving either a brain, a shotgun ( get three and you turn ends a bust) or a flee which is included in the next set of three dice rolled if the players wishes. It's a dice game so it's about luck, but there is some strategy in that there are three sets of dice. Green dice are more likely to give you the coveted brain, yellow are equally like to give you a shotgun, brain or flee, while the red dice are loaded to return shotguns. As you continue to roll dice on your turn to have to weight the likelihood of the three shotguns accumulating. With such simple rules it's a nice fast paced game which is easily accessible to novice players.Games are short and fast paced.

Roll dice to get brains without getting shotguns. Each of the dice are red, yellow or green with more likely of getting brains or shotguns, so a bit of strategy knowing which dice are left - or just roll what you've got and have fun!The dice come in a decent 'shaker' but larger hands (or even medium) might have difficulty (I tip the dice out then put back if I get too many, but you have to be honest). Think 'bisto' pot with a cool zombie wrapper! You'll need an extra paper+pencil to record scores.Good for teaching the young-uns (2 under 10) about risk; risk another roll or hold what you have and risk someone else winning and odds (red are more likely to have shotguns),then there's another bit of strategy as the winner is decided at the end of the round, not as soon as someone gets 13.Wouldn't recommend too many rounds in one sitting (2-3 max) but one to return to frequently to fill 5-10 mins.

This game is so simple, yet fun - it is genius! The 3 different colours of dice have different probabilities of brains/shotgun/flee and the game dynamics work excellently in that you have to make a judgement call on the risk/probability of the remaining dice in the pot coming up with shotguns and ending your game prematurely or whether or not you should quit whilst your winning and bank the brains you have collected. Player interaction is good as you factor in your opponents running total of brains in your willingness to take a risk and roll again! I think the manufacturers recommended minimum age of 10 is a bit soft intellectually...I think players as young as 6 or 7 would be perfectly capable of playing as long as you as a parent are comfortable that they are ok with the zombie theme.

Steve Jackson is a really good place to look for your 'quick to learn games'. Munchkin is definitely one of my favourites and with the amount of additional content it's hard to beat when it comes to replayabilty. Therefore when I've found out that Zombie Dice comes straight from makers of Munchkin I didn't hesitate and didn't waste any time on reading the reviews - just ordered it. It was no mistake - Zombie dice (especially with both DLC) is a fun, quick, easy to learn and (important) really pocket size game. Slightly over dozen die and pure luck is what makes this game exciting. It's an amazing game whenever you feel like you need a break from lengthy and heavy board games but it's also really good to just pack and have a quick game on your way.Absolutely recommend it!

Heard a lot of good thing about zombie dice. Was a bit dubious with a game compromising of a handful of dice and if it could be any good. Watched the table top episode which showed the simplicity and fun that could be had with this game. Finally decided to part with my cash and bought it last weekend via prime. Arrive next day and me and the gf decoded to try it, 10 games later we were sold. The game is simple enough to teach in minutes but good enough to play for hours. Her mother and grandma came round later that night for food. We finished and decided to play this. We played around 8 games. Everyone enjoyed it that much I am now back in amazon ordering a set for her 81 year old grandmother. This just proves how simple and good the game is for everyone.

Fast fun easy to learn gaming on the go.Shake the pot, pull out 3 dice, set aside any brain dice, set aside any shot gun shot dice and if you roll footprints simply roll again. You only roll 3 dice on every turn and can decide to end your turn at any time and stick with however many brain dice you rolled and score it on a piece of paper. If you get 3 shotgun shots in one turn then any brains you've set aside in that turn are lost and the next player shakes the pot of 13 dice, draws 3 and takes their turn. The first to get to 13 brains across multiple turns wins. The pot is small enough to be carried around or stored away neatly as it measures just 11.4cm x 6.5cmIf you are stuck on the rules checkout some reviews on Youtube.

This game is incredibly easy to learn (it took me 2 minutes) and it is easy to introduce it to others as well. The 13 dice come in a cylindrical container (along with instructions) which makes it a great game to take with you when you go travelling or round to a friends. This game will push your luck as you roll to decide whether you take the points or lose them all. This game can also easily be adapted for fun as a drinking game with friends. Every time someone rolls a shotgun blast they have to take a drink. Rolled 3 blasts and lost your points? Down it ;) People will be much more cautious about losing their points knowing they could be faced with an entire pint to down!
