I've long loved having room scenters but until recently when I lost the last of my cats I needed to stick with reed diffusers. Now I can start enjoying candles it's been quite interesting trying to find ones that will do a decent job. I'd tried 2 other "cheap" brands - one was great and people remarked on the amazing scent, while the other was more expensive yet you couldn't smell anything - in fact the candle smelt the strongest in the jar before ever being lit.SO on to this YC offering. I wasn't sure about bothering with it for reviewing because I'd been told that the brand was overpriced & their products not as good as some other competitors. But I figured it was about time to find out the truth. From the minute I opened this one I was hit with the most delicious fruity scent but while that was glorious I knew from experience that that might be as good as it got. But I've been hugely impressed to discover this one at least burns with an incredible scent that just permeates the entire room and even upstairs if the living room door is open, which is way better than any of the others before it. This is called a medium jar but for me, it's twice the size of the large of some competitors so will certainly last 70-80+ hours I'd imagine. I think they all tend to smell stronger initially than later on sadly but it's certainly making an impact in my house at the minute. This is quite an expensive offering but given that some smaller versions can be almost a tenner and only last 10-20 hours at best, this provides very good value. If you're into candles primarily and looking for a super fruity type scent then this is the one for you!

One thing you learn as an adult - you get what you pay for with scented candles. Yes you can get cheaper candles that certainly have an aroma in the shop but when you get them home and burn them, the scent is either absent or smells different or just doesnt linger. Many a time ive stood by the mantle piece so close to a candle im burning my nose hairs trying to smell something from yet another cheap purchase. Then you get given (probably - i was " how much? im not paying that for a candle!") a Yankee candle. You stick it on the mantle piece next to given up on cheaper models and you light it. As you sit there looking at it gently flickering you realise, that you can actually smell something and not only that it smells like what its supposed to! Just to check you approach the candle and take a sniff, yep its coming from the candle! You are a convert and you get why other people happily pay £20 for a candle. This is no different. Its got a lovely sweet fruity sort of smell, i guess its that name but it does make me think of holidays on warm far away (not chucking it down) beaches.Ive never timed one of these (im not that organised) but it does seem to go on and on and on.If you have a candle loving friend you cant go wrong with Yankee. If your arnt sure they do teeny candles that most people could try if they didnt want to splash out £20. Give them a go you wont be disappointed. And they come in a lovely jar with a lid so no mess. I just sit mine on a candle stand.

I am a HUGE Yankee Candle fan and have approximately 200 candles, wax melts and a plethora of burners, samplers, tealights, and diffusers. I received the Black Coconut fragrance initially in the form of wax melts and although I am not a lover of coconut in terms of the smell or consumption, this has swiftly become my favourite go-to fragrance year round. That is no mean feat with the endless scents I have to choose from. It is a perfect scent for evening or summer daytime but I find I can use it all year long and never get sick of the smell. As with all Yankee Candles, there are a variety of different aromas in each candle that combine to create the overall scent.Take it from me,this is a beautiful versatile fragrance that will remain my favourite for the foreseeable future. The large jars last a very long time - I usually purchase 2 each time, one for using and one for keeping but that's because I have a real burning(!) issue. The fragrance carries really well and fills a large-sized room with ease. I have tried a tonne of different brands of candle over the years and none hold a candle to Yankee!

Like most Yankee Candles this Tropical Jungle version is so full of fragrance you hardly need to light it, just leaving the lid off lets a sweet floral and fruity aroma scent your room. When it is lit the fragrance is stronger and deeper, the less sweet 'green' notes are more noticeable while it burns. It lingers long after you extinguish it too and your home is left with a rather lovely sweet scent. If you don't like sweet and insistent aromas then this probably isn't the Yankee Candle for you. It isn't the most natural fragrance and I'm really not sure which jungle flora actually smell quite like this. The burn-time is excellent and we've burned ours every evening for over a week and it's still not done.I'm not the biggest fan of the Yankee Candle jars, they look a bit Seventies to me (not in the good way) but it does work well and is reusable after the candle is gone. Simple heat it in a warm (not hot) oven and wipe out the melted wax with some kitchen paper and you're all set. It's not my favourite Yankee fragrance but it's a very cheerful and Summery way to enhance your home.

I have to say that I am a lover of Yankee Candles, so couldn't wait to get this one.It has a lovely refreshing fruity smell, it is hard to breakdown the different fragrances that are in it as they combine so well. It smells to me like a fruit salad chew. The candle comes well packaged in a polystyrene container and with no room to manoeuvre should arrive without any damage. The thing with Yankee Candles as well is, if you are going to burn one you have to have enough time. A pool of molten wax should cover the top of the candle when burning. If you don't let it burn properly you run the risk of the candle tunnelling, which means you are left with lots of wax on the outside and a big hole in the middle. If you do burn the candle you should get between 65 - 75 hours, remember to place it on a heat proof surface though and away from draughts. And also remember to keep the wick trimmed. If you don't want to burn it, just remove the lid for a few hours and your room should be filled with the scent.

Candles are the new ‘black’ when it comes to household atmos creation. I even have one that encourages lactation in the fairer sex – not yet road tested it mind. This though is a Yankee candle and they are seen as the upper end of the candle market and they carry a price tag to reflect that. This is presented well with the huge label on the front. It has the nice jar, is a vivid red and smells very sweet – not at all subtle in my opinion. And it lasts ages so all should be good. Well I compared this to one I got from Morrison’s, for a few pounds, and the supermarket one smells nicer – but that is taste. It doesn’t last as long but it does look better as you don’t have the stickers. Now they do come off but if you are going to pay these kinds of prices you want people to know. This then is conspicuous consumption so I won’t be falling over myself to get any more but you can’t fault the performance as it will burn up and melt – like all candles mostly do.

BLACK COCONNUT is one of Yankee's new spring 2013 fragrances, and is described as "sunset in paradise... rich coconut, cedarwood and island blossoms promise an evening of luxurious tranquility". There's not much more that I can add to that - the woody notes tone down the traditionally sunny feeling of the coconut, making it seem 'darker'. I'm not sure what floral notes are used, but there is a powdery undertone to the coconut and woods. As with all Yankee candles, the entirety of the wax is perfumed; I've used some candles where the fragrance burns up before the candle does, but that is not the case here. The fragrance lasts as long as the candle does and is strong enough to travel over the house.I even catch occasional wafts of the perfume whilst the candle is unlit. I've found that the tarts and tea lights throw off a stronger scent than the candles, so I think that they are the better buys.

Yankee candle-tropical jungle..............A medium sized Yankee jar with a burn time of 65-90 hours.Candle.........The candle comes in the classic Yankee jar, it is a striking red in colour and has a lovely sweet, fruity scent... reminiscent of childhood sweeties.I found that this works well as a room freshener if I just leave the lid off and place it in a small room, it doesn’t even need to be lit to give the room a subtle freshness.Burn.......I find that to get the most from my Yankee candles chilling them before lighting them ( obviously I need to plan ahead and pop a jar in the fridge early in the day) makes them last longer. When lit the scent is subtle, less powerful than smelling the candle in the jar would lead you to believe, and fragrances even my larger rooms completely.

I am really impressed with this lovely Yankee Candle. It looks very pretty in its classy glass container, and the colour is so refreshing - like watermelon. The scent is so lush it's irresistible - sweet and fruity. It percolates gently throughout the house even when it's unlit, and when it is lit, it raises it up a level - but not so much that it's overwhelming. Not all scents are OK for me as I am very sensitive to some of them, but this one is super - no headaches, no drama. I love it. And it burns nice and slowly so it will last me a long time. My daughter was going to kidnap this but I have put my foot down - this one is mine!

I will not buy another candle. Some people say these are expensive... They smell amazing and they last ages so well worth it, I just love them. You get what you pay for, you buy cheap you buy twice. As for the black coconut itself... Not overly coconuty but just a nice tropical fragrance. Beautiful. Oh and somebody else wrote on here about wrapping the candle in foil to stop the wick burning down the middle. Well I dunno why you'd do that :-/ all candles can do that, that's why you need a wick trimmer! I never thought I'd waste my money on a wick trimmer but after purchasing it definately makes the candle burn better!!!

I'm new to Yankee candles as, frankly, I've always been scared off by the hefty price tag attached! But it's true when they say that you get what you pay for. The candle smells gorgeous - it's perhaps an unusual choice being that it's not the typical vanilla-type scent that you find with most fragranced candles but it works beautifully in my home. Good scent-throw and a strong, even burn when lit. A great price for a large Yankee candle, quick delivery (I'm a Prime customer but ordered this late on a Saturday evening & was happily unwrapping this within 24 hours). Well worth the money!

Mmmmm Pink Sands, my favourite candle! It's hard to describe this smell. It's very light, very fresh, a little heady too, exotic, a tiny bit floral but nothing like the British flower candles, this is tropical floral and incredibly warm and clean. Imagine you're standing in your room in a 5 star spa hotel in Bali with the windows open and the view down to the beach is bringing the air into the room...., you've got it! It just makes your whole house smell gorgeous. I like to combine candles so I burn this at the same time as Shea Butter and they go together very well.

I’m not really one for floral scents so I wasn’t sure I would feel about these candles, but I had a look at the reviews and decided to give them a go. I’m so glad I did. The scent is so delicate and pretty. It’s hard to describe because it is so finely balanced between fruity and floral. It’s so fresh and the name seems really appropriate because it smells like you are on a beach next to a orchard.I really like these tea lights and will definitely get them again when these run out because they are definitely my favourite scent so far out of all the ones I’ve tried.

Have to admit that I am addicted to Yankee Candles, having purchased my first one fairly recently. They just fill your house with a wonderful aroma, which is instantly relaxing and charming, much better than being aware of last night's fish pie or curry! This fragrance, Black Coconut, reminds me of a popular chocolate bar, and is currently residing in our bathroom, but they are equally at home anywhere in the house. The perfume is subtle and gentle, a pleasant welcome home, when you arrive through the door.Highly recommended, I now have quite a collection!

Gorgeous smell. Soft, subtle and able to fill the whole room. Delicate and flowery with a very discreet vanilla background. Not too much that it's sickly or overpowering. Slightly citrusy, as well.Just a note about the seller: Ordered for my daughters birthday, just before Christmas but although tracking said it had been delivered, it failed to arrive. Contacted seller early evening, who had the courtesty to call me, and a replacement was with us the next day.Beautiful candle, smells wonderful and fantastic customer service. Highly recommended.
