This candle has a pretty standard lavender smell, just like Joe/Jane Average's budgets allow for shower gels, air fresheners and the like. It doesn't smell like fresh lavender (I have some in my kitchen) and it doesn't have bits of the plant in it. It comes in a medium sized glass jar that could be used as a vase, I think, once the candle is burned out. The jar is approximately 910g and 10 inches tall and the diameter of the candle is approximately 3 inches. There is an ingredients list on the base - see pic - and there's mention that this product is compliant for formaldehyde, phase 2, which I had to look up - (manufacturers typically will label their products as “California 93120 Compliant for Formaldehyde” or “California Phase 2 Compliant,” although other variations may also be used.California's CWP Regulation is one of the most stringent regulations in effect to limit formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products). Nosing on the website, I found that the candle is made from premium paraffin and soy waxes which produce a beautiful burn without messy residue.I'm not sure I can justify the current price of just under twenty-five quid, when I can get 3 large-mug-size Yankee Candles for less than this from Boots on their Xmas offers. Incidentally, when nosing about Woodwick, I found out that the company is part of Yankee Candles. The most worrying thing for me is that I can't leave this candle and step out of the room, as I have curious cats that like to sit in the windows and who leave our net curtains lying over the phone pictured in the background. Even if I placed this elsewhere in the house, e.g. on a dining table or my husband's desk, I'd still have to think about cats and curtains. And silly boys and their dumping grounds. It does burn with a crackling sound that takes a bit of getting used to, but that reminds me of log fires. It's unfortunately proved to be too much of a distraction for hubs, as has the flickering and high flame, so I've been generously told that I can keep the candle for my pleasure when I'm home alone. Only alone, like I am today. There's a lot of packaging on this, and yes there needs to be, as the candle would be ruined if the glass broke. It came bubble-wrapped, placed in a stiff brown corrugated card that cocooned it (reminded me of a drinks carrier wedged into another drinks carrier) and then placed in another box similarly constructed, and then placed in brown paper in the outer Amazon box. Luckily we can recycle all but the bubble wrap, but that's a lot of paper/cardboard to dispose of for one single item. There's a good lid on this that keeps the scent sealed, and which doubles up as a stand/base on which to place the candle to protect furniture. It contains instructions for use, which need to be looked at as there are instructions for burning times, and for how to trim the wick. Weirdly, the website says to trim to 1/4 inch before use, and the product lid says to trim to 1/8 inch - unsure which is right, but then I found more instructions on the inside of the sticker on the bottom of the candle! What I can confirm is that when it goes out, it does so without smoke and without that waxy, slightly 'off' smoky smell that candles with regular wicks do, so that's a big plus. Unfortunately, though, the scent didn't last and the black cherry Yankee Candle next to it was what my room still smells of, over 24hrs since I used it.Overall, I think this candle is about 50% overpriced for what it is.

WoodWick Large Hourglass Scented Candle in "LINEN"I love scented candles but they can be quite expensive, so I normally only buy scented tea-lights. To try this WoodWick +Wick Candle, in such a generous size, is a real treat. This is my experience.• The jar is nice quality glass with wooden push on lid, which is embossed 'WW'. Once the candle is all used up, this jar could be used for sweets, nuts, sugar, dog treats, etc. OR It would be suitable to use as a flower vase. (the front sticker peels off easily and the one under the jar can be soaked off in warm water) The stickers on the wooden lid also peel off easily.• Underneath the jar is a peel back sticker advising and showing the do's and don'ts when using the candle. Also shown is the Content of the candle. Advice is also shown on the sticker underneath the wooden lid. No one can complain that the Manufacturer is not providing information.• The burn time of the candle is stated to be up to 130 hours. I have only burnt it for around 3 - 4 hours at a time.• The wooden lid can also be used as a coaster to place the jar on.• The 'wick' is X shaped and is easy to light. To keep it trimmed after each use, just use your fingers to nip off the burnt pieces.• The 'wick' gently crackles whilst burning, like a real fire does. It is not intrusive, and I find it creates memories of childhood when sitting round an open fire. It is quite soothing. You only really hear it if there is no TV, Radio, or music playing in the room.• I found the candle easy to light with a lighter. As the candle burns down in time, I will use the extra long matches. It is also possible to invert the jar to light the candle when the wax is very low. I have done this with the large Yankee Candle Jars and found it to be safe enough.• The LINEN fragrance is not at all over-powering and very true to the description. It is a nice but gentle fresh perfume with White Tea and Jasmine. I also use Diffusers in other rooms in the house and the fragrance of this candle is the same as the Wax Lyrical Diffuser 'Fresh Linen'.• This candle burns perfectly evenly, which I have found the Yankee Candle Jar Candles don’t tend to do.At time of writing my Review, the RRP is £24.99 but cheaper on Amazon. This puts WoodWick Jar Candles on a par with Large Jar Yankee Candles. I love it!

Brought now nearly a dozen of these candles over the years and love them all. Recent ones have arrived in a box which is shaped to the candle jar so in most instances it should arrive safe. I have never had one that arrived damage and purchased a fair few.Anyways, these candle are really nice. The Jar itself is really thick and looks great. It has quiet a wide opening and this is to allow the crackling wick in the middle to be longer which in turn allows a lot of wax to burn at once. Now the wick itself has a lovely cracking sound. I have added a video to hopefully show this (bearing in mind rest of room is silent). It adds a really nice background ambient noise. The smell itself is another amazing element. As mentioned above, the wick is quite large and this allows a lot of wax to burn at once. As a result I find the throw pretty substantial and room filling. You may get attuned to the smell, but trust me, walk out the room then back in. Usually people always asking what I am burning throughout the home and when I mention just this single candle, usually cannot believe it. This particular trilogy one is nice in that its a mix of three fragrances as it burns down. The downside is the burn time is shorter then candles with similar amount of wax and a single typical wick. Your trading burning more wax quickly for a larger throw effectively. The final element is the lid, it looks smart but also functions as a mat for the candle to rest on. You will find the jar gets warm to the touch and more so as the wick burns down, the base will also get hot, so this mat will be a good place to put the candle on rather then your furniture or what have you.In all everyone loves these. They make great gifts, great bits in the home on occasions and so on. Add in the fact they look the part and smell great, its nice to have going on occasions.

This is the first Woodwick candle I have tried and I am extremely impressed. We have been getting more into candles recently as we light them to create a relaxing atmosphere whilst working or in the evenings to chill out. Until now we have used a range of other brands from cheap to expensive and this one justifies its price very well.Firstly, the scent. When you first think of wood smoke you think of a campfire and the lingering smell which although pleasant around the fire it isn’t as nice when that’s all you can smell for days. However, this candle has all the nice smells without the lingering smell you regret later. You feel like you’re relaxing around a lot burner. To add to the effect it uses a wooden wick which lightly crackles,I have added a video which you may be able to hear it in. I haven’t seen a candle do this before and especially with this scent it builds a relaxing atmosphere around the log burner. It isn’t too loud to distract but is audible enough that you can enjoy it from a few meters away. The candle itself seems to last the full 130 hours which really adds to the value of this, although it seems expensive I would suggest it’s better value than other ‘Premium’ candles. The packaging is perfect for shipping with an intricate folding of card to keep it safe, I have had too many others show up shattered with tiny thin bits of glass. This one uses proper packaging and a decent thick glass to add to the premium feel.Overall I’m very impressed with the product and look forward to getting another.Hopefully my review has been helpful to you.

WoodWick candles are an off-shoot of the very famous Yankee Candles, so if you are a fan of Yankee, these provide the same level of quality, with the addition of sound! Yes, these candles crackle and pop rather like a comforting fire, so they are a great option if you like the sound of a roaring fire in the hearth but don't have a working fireplace and chimney. I would definitely recommend this to people who have converted their fireplaces to remove the fire but kept the fire surround, this gives a lovely effect of wood burning in a more contained format! The scent of the WoodWick candles are, for the most part, much quieter and subtler than their Yankee Candle cousins,so if you find the Yankee Candle range too overpowering, this is a great option. This linen scent is even subtler than most of the others in the range, so it's not a great choice if you are looking for something gutsy or you burn candles to cover unwanted scents from food or pets.I really liked the scent, it really did have that subtle smell you get when drying washing outside, I also really liked the crackling from the wick. The wick does smoke more than I would like but I assume it has something to do with the sounds and crackling effect. I also really loved that the lid doubles as a stand for the candle, so it offers some heat resistance when placed on a table.Overall, a lovely candle that offers a pleasant sound and a not-overpowering scent.

Although this candle was labelled as large I was expecting some thing 1/2 to 2/3 of the size. The container I have in the kitchen to store tea bags is not as big as this! The wax is about 1.5cm from the top when new so is easily lit with a match, it will require a taper when it gets closer to the bottom. The wick is an unusual cross design, like an ordinary wick it does need trimming but seems some how more substantial. The scent is reasonably light, and unlike other candles the ingredients are on the bottom. Including limolene and linalool I wonder if it will keep insects at bay in the summer. It gives a warning that it may cause allergic skin reaction and will cause harm to aquatic life! Its recommended to burn for 3 to 4 hours until all the wax melts to the edge of the glass. That's my main problem that I rarely sit down that long and am in and out of a room, not ideal to ever leave a candle burning alone in a room even with out drafts, pets or children present. The candle has a built in crackle, not sure I like this although it does remind you the candle is still lit.The lid is wood, and whilst this looks nice putting a lid over a flame to extinguish it seems wrong. If you live in an area with a lot of power cuts or hold long dinner parties then this is the candle to have!

I love candles, and I usually stick to Yankee Candkes because the fragrance when lit is always good. Many candkes you buy smell lovely but as soon as you light them, they don’t give off much of a smell. This Woodwick Candle is definitely a winner, The lavender fragrance is strong but subtle and when lit, the fragrance remains strong and the whole room is scented. The uniqueness of this Candle is not only in its beautiful hourglass shape but that it has a wooden wick, something I’ve never ever come across in a Candle before! The wick has an odd cross shape to it, but I guess therein lies the secret to the crackle sound the wick makes when lit...The crackling sound is not too loud but noticeable if you are sat in a quiet room,it’s actually very comforting and you can almost imagine you are sat by a real open fire if you close your eyes. The only reason I’m dropping one star on my review is that I found the flame on the wick tends to bounce around and flicker a lot, this tends to give me a bit of a headache but I’m wondering if this might be down to a draft in my room and not the Candle? Anyway a definite 4 and a half stars, highly recommended for its unique wooden wick and the fragrance is as high quality as Yankee candkes. Highly recommended!

Had this burning tonight and last night and it is delightful. The smell is divine, it’s hard to really describe the “linen” scent as any thing other than fresh, light and incredibly soothing, it’s a very nice clean and homey inviting scent. The wooden wick (which pokes out of the top of the candle like a cross) does indeed crackle, not quite as often as you might want it to, but it does give that occasional open fire feel with sudden snaps that give me a little shudder and delight. I do think though becahse the which has so much material in it, it soaks the wax up faster and burns through it quicker than you’d like. I’ve lost at least about 15% of my wax so far, so I feel I’ll have to keep it for that rare hour in the bath,or just before guests arrive so I don’t use it up so quickly. The scent is nice and does fill the room when it burns. I like the jar shape, and the wooden top which doubles as a coaster is also very nice, the jar will come in handy once it’s used up as it’s quite decorative. Is it a good alternative to some big brand candle names? Doesn’t last as long as some American brands as far as I can tell from years of candle burning experience, but I’d buy this again if it was a little lower in price.

This is a fairly huge candle; much bigger than a standard pint glass, this should give, according to the manufacturers, up to 130 hours burn time. It has a simple, elegant, aesthetic with an ivory coloured wax in a fluted glass with a wooden lid, the latter of which doubles as a stand for the candle. The initial smell is quite subtle but it does eventually build to become quite noticeable and will fragrance quite a large space in 3-4 hours. As these have been designed with American rooms in mind, our smaller British rooms will probably need less time. The particular version that I have been testing is 'Linen' which, in effect, means laundry detergent. This isn't unpleasant but does give the room a 'laundry day'smell. The wick has been specially designed to give a 'crackle' effect, which is intended to be a comforting, homely sound, much like an open fire or rain on roof. In truth, we found the sound a little too insistent and intrusive, such that it became distracting when trying to read or engage in other quiet pursuits. I would have liked it if the crackle was more intermittent and less frequent. Whilst watching television it is quite possible to filter the noise out.

Because the wick is quite long it does light up the room, I have a downstairs bathroom next to the kitchen and to get to the bathroom generally you have to put on the kitchen light so to save on electricity and the strip fluorescent light I started using a tea light in the kitchen which is just enough to be able to see your way to the bathroom, i then used an oil burner for fragrance to eliminate odour from the bathroom and then it daund on me to get a nice big candle with built in fragrance so looking through thought this would do both light up the kitchen and make it smell lovely and this does it just perfect, no wax is wasted because it does melt right to the ends,it’s not overwhelming smell and in my opinion would never be enough fragrance, it is a nice lavender tone but it’s not strong enough in my opinion but however I’m a lavender-hollic so would bathe in it every day, the crackle is a bit of a gimmick but it’s OK could be noisy if you’re trying to read or concentrate on something it could be good for a headache to take your mind off your head and relax, would make a nice present, comes with a lovely wooden lid so a perfect gift, really is lovely

This is such a gorgeous candle! Upon opening the box you can feel you're holding something special. The thick wooden lid gives it an attractive look and when opened releases a slightly woody and musky yet floral scent which is 'Evening Onyx' and is grey in colour and nice and neutral for décor. The candle itself is the largest round version with the horizontal wick. I'd never seen anything like that before and was intrigued to see how it burns and it produces a visually amazing horizonal flame which also makes crackling sounds like a wood fire burning. This is so relaxing to listen to and I've been using this in the evening while working and it's really fun to have the crackling sound like a fire, mixed in with the sensual and woody scents! It's not an overwhelming scent and in a large room doesn't overpower but fills the room nicely.I'd never tried a Woodwick candle before but this is proving to already be the longest lasting candle I've ever used. Each time you burn you need to break off the burnt parts on the wick to maintain the full effectiveness and with proper maintenance should be able to be enjoyed for a long time. Highly Recommended!

Love the relaxing and reminding lovely noise this candle give you that it is burning softly away. I have had a few incidents where I have left a few candles burning in the room and left them whilst I have gone shopping and come home to find them flickering away and I felt happy my hone hadn’t burned down. My farther was an officer on the fire brigade and has pretty much told me never leave a flame alone without watching it.These are quality scents, slow burners and worth the extra few pounds. I think my neighbour may be smoking and cooking with horrid oil so I’m trying to mask some strange smells in the winter when a window can’t be left open all the time without freezing your extremities off.The scent of fresh linen washing wafts up your nose as soon as you light the wick. The lovely sound of flickering candle is amazing and relaxing too. I will be replacing and considering buying this brand not the American candle brand I have always purchased.Love, love, love. Hoping for a rose scent in stock next please.

I previously reviewed the Frasier Fir WoodWick Ellipse Scented Candle, and this variation is an hourglass shape and different scent (Linen). Like the earlier reviewed candle this offers the crackling sound effect and flickering effect of the flame due to the wood wick. The difference in shape means a smaller, more traditionally sized, wick rather than the longer “row” wick. The difference here is that the crackling is much subtler. Now we didn’t find the ellipse’s crackling overly distracting but actually thought the lowered sound more pleasant. Of course, the vertical design makes this take up less surface area. The scent, too, is subtler with a vanilla effect. Not that it isn’t strong but I felt it more comfortable and pleasant.Like the ellipse this comes with the lid that acts as a heat resistant mat.If you want these candles for more snap, crackle and pop then go for the ellipse, for a subtler experience the hourglass design is excellent.

This is a lovely big candle with an interesting design difference that will possibly delight or irritate in equal measure.I didn't think something as rudimentary as a candle could be tweaked that much but Woodwick have managed it.Instead of a standard wick, this has a "+" shaped length of treated card running through it. When lit, this burns the same as a wick but produces a crackling noise. In a quite room with the TV/radio off this is actually quite relaxing, a bit like having a log fire burning away and I like it very much. The smell is quite subtle but you'll certainly notice it when re-entering a room.As this is heavy glass, it came extremely well protected even by Amazon's high standards.Three boxes no less! And then some bubble wrap around the glass. So expect a lot of card and opening to get to it but it should be safe! This is a fine candke, beautifully produced and with a crackling wick to boot.I can find no negatives to it at all!

So, how do I start....Got one of these as part of a sample pack. The scent is good, it looks nice, no damage. I've also given it 5 stars on everything. So why you ask me? Why wont you by this candle again.Well, I lit the candle and within 5 minutes my whole room was filled with it's amazing scent. The crackling sounded like a log fire on a cold winters night. Amazing, just what I wanted, then it happened....i started hearing some very strange noises! I look around the room. Where is this noise comming from. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I could hear farting! Is my backside betraying me and slipping them out without my say so! How dare it! However I was sure this could not be right.I would have felt it! I went to walk towards the kitchen and i noticed it again. This time I knew where it came from! The candle, yes you read right. The candle was making fart noises. ...0 star for relaxing atmosphere, 5 star for comedic value!
